Yesterday on Meet the Press, Vice President Cheney accused critics of the administration’s policies of assisting terrorists. Cheney said that the strategy of the terrorists is “to break our will.” According to Cheney, terrorists “are encouraged, obviously, when they see the kind of debate that we’ve had in the United States, suggestions, for example, that we should withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq.” The debate “validates the strategy of the terrorists.” Watch it:
Transcript:
CHENEY: The basic proposition for our adversaries–and we ought to take a minute and focus on it–they, they want to re-create the old caliphate that stretched from Spain all the way around to Southeast Asia. They want to topple the regimes that are there today, they want to kick the U.S. out of that part of the world, destroy Israel, equip themselves with weapons of mass destructions, etc. In the course of doing that, their strategy for doing that is to break our will. They can’t beat us in a stand-up fight, they never have, but they’re absolutely convinced they can break our will. The American people don’t have the stomach for the fight.
So you look at situation today in Afghanistan or even in Iraq, and you’ve got people who have doubts. They want to know whether or not if they stick their heads up, the United States, in fact, is going to be there to complete the mission. And those doubts are encouraged, obviously, when they see the kind of debate that we’ve had in the United States, suggestions, for example, that we should withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq, simply feed into that whole notion, validates the strategy of the terrorists.
Ah, Cheney. Still a pig. Some things never change.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:43 amFrigg'n amazing.
How can you be wrong with such logic?
So, according to Cheney, we should continue to fight to ensure a fundamentalist Islamic regime with close ties to Iran is in power in Iraq to ensure the "terrorists don't win".
When will the American people see the pure Orwellian-logic this administration spews?
September 11th, 2006 at 9:44 amSame shit, different day, "Dick."
Knock it off, you're sweating through the suit.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:45 amGo phoque yourself Mr. Cheney.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:45 amDarth.....what a pig.
If they didn't design this as a self fullfiling event, then they are just plain stupid.
Me, I think they are just plain stupid.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:49 amThe surest way to break the will of the American people is to stay the course in Iraq. In other words it will be the disasterous Bush/Cheney policy that will be at the heart of the failure without immediate changes in that policy. But it is nothing new for Cheney to once again blame the messenger for the bad news.
Coming from the worst administration ever, this message rings very hollow.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:50 amThe next logical step in Cheney's arguments is to round up, arrest, deport to Gitmo anyone that does critize the war. To use admin rheotric, anyone that aids or abets the terrorists will be treated no different. (As in the conflation of Iraq to Al Queda.)
September 11th, 2006 at 9:50 amAnd of course they're not encouraged when Bush and Cheney proclaim them to be the "most powerful enemy we've ever faced", "omnipotent", and rant on about how "clever" they are. I expect bin Laden and his pals have to rewind their turbans around their swelled heads every time Bush or Cheney make one of their terror speeches.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:51 amMaybe someone should ask him why he decided to fulfill the wishes of the terrorists following 9/11. And now Cheney is telling us to do what the terrorists want.
It seems like they're working hand-in-hand with the Bush administration. Just put two and two together.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:51 amSo, Mr. Cheney, if war critics embolden the terrorists, explain to us the effect of a failure to capture the man behind 9/11, which was 5 years ago today. You can tell us the truth. You can even say it on video. We all know you'll just say "I don't think anybody said..." later and deny the whole thing, so why worry about admiting the truth? Come on, you know you want to...
September 11th, 2006 at 9:53 amWhy does this "man" have any credibility at all? Why does anyone listen to what he says? He has been wrong on so many important things so many times.
How, exactly how, is he supposed to know what the terrorists are thinking? Does he know them? Do they call him on the phone?
September 11th, 2006 at 9:56 amThis administration, per se, has abetted the terrorists. That's why Cheney won't read the "Senate Intelligence Report II" - aha! There it concludes that, without a doubt, we've singlehandedly helped the cause of AQ in the removal of saddam from Iraq and turning it into a hotbed of terrorist breeding and chaos. Just do this: Everything this administration says, believe the opposite and you will find that you are right on the money!
September 11th, 2006 at 9:57 amtesting...
September 11th, 2006 at 9:58 amCheney has absolutely ZERO CREDIBILITY at this point. Nothing they say is the truth. Soon when they appear with their talking points, americans will simply laugh in their faces....it's happening now! Prez, what Prez? Veep, what Veep? They're lame ducks and non-entities in the minds of most americans. P.S. But they're a HUGE LIABILITY to the GOP...heh...heh..
September 11th, 2006 at 9:59 amWhy doesn't Russett say,
"Mr. Cheney, here is a list of umpteen things that you have said in the past explaining how the situation in Iraq will go, and every single one of them has turned out to be wrong. So if I were a betting man, I'd bet that you are wrong about this too. So what new information or new analysis are you relying on this time?"
September 11th, 2006 at 10:02 amDoes anyone else notice how Cheney's head is always cocked down, as if he's looking at someone's shoes? And the condescending, smug I'm always right and you must be an idiot attitude he displays?
September 11th, 2006 at 10:03 amThis man is a living nightmare, and should be sent along with Rummy and Prezidunce W (hat me worry) to the Hague for war crimes trials.
The man is criminally insane.
Premise 1: terror is intense fear and anything that instills such fear to achieve or maintain supremacy
Premise 2: terrorist is a person who utilizes terror
Premise 3: BushCo attempts to get American citizens to be very afraid in order to win elections
Premise 4: Progressives are opposed to BushCo and its fear mongering
Conclusion 1: BushCo are terrorists
Conclusion 2: Progressives are not terrorists
Short answer: Shut up Cheney
September 11th, 2006 at 10:03 amI guess he doesn't read polls eather....70% know he's wrong. Who created terrrrus anyway...go look in the mirror dick.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:05 amSo Cheney, why do you hate democracy? Differing viewpoints are part of democracy.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:07 amKinda off Kinda on topic:
I have come up with a new theory as to why the Rightwing has gotten away with blaming the Democrats and anyone with dissenting views for so long: Rightwing America has never actually accepted them as government. Deep down within the Rightwing American psyche, George Bush was never really the president, and Dick Cheney was never VP.
You see it had been a puzzle for me for ages that Americans were so quick to blame Clinton for 9/11, for the economy, and even for Katrina, that I never quite realised that to those Americans, Bill is still president. Sure most of them will say "George Bush" if you ask them the question, but most Americans, when there is trouble, turn to Bill Clinton.
If they actually believed Bush was president, they would be questioning his every action, Americans would be screaming at the war in Iraq, and there certainly wouldn't be the same complacency towards Bush's treatment of the law. Indeed the whole "Blame Clinton" movement would be stillborn, because Bush would be president.
Unfortunately, Bill Clinton is only president in America's hearts, not your minds. He doesn't have the authority to be president, and something tells me he doesn't want it. He is a president who did his job, and realised why it is called work. He can't fix America's problems, even though most Americans, Republican and Democrat, kind of expect him to. He has retired, and nobody in America has really adjusted to that.
Perhaps this is the first thing that the Democrats need to do: A whole new advertising campaign, "Bill Clinton is not the current president. He was president, his two terms were up, then it was the monkey's turn. Stop turning to Bill for the answers, he hasn't got them."
September 11th, 2006 at 10:07 amCheney states that: †The debate “validates the strategy of the terrorists" which is ironic considering it is the Admin and its apologists that have been spinning this "war on terror" as the new WWIII echoing images of Hitler and with the misapplication of the word fascists. It's ironic because fascists hate debate and criminalize dissent or criticism, chucking dissenters into gulags or worse.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:08 amgo look in the mirror dick.

September 11th, 2006 at 10:09 amDick(head) Cheney = delusional, delerious, deceptive, deranged and disgusting.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:13 am"Cheney accused critics of the administration’s policies of assisting terrorists..."
Look out America, there's a terrorist livin' on your block. Maybe just around the corner. Might be your preacher, or your mother. Whatever you do, stop criticizing the administration's policies because you are helping them, don't you understand? This pack of wildmen is threatening the very existence of CLEARLY the most powerful and technologically advanced nation in the HISTORY of humanity.
You know, with the sarcasm off and that thought in mind, considering how technologically sophisticated our nation is, it's almost like we deserve to get pounded on for not having the wisdon and foresight to pursue this so called war on terror besides dropping more bombs and spreading the misery elsewhere.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:13 amI'll be sure to tune into Countdown tonight to see what Olbermann has to say about this fascist tirade.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:14 am"bum - bum - bumbum everybody puke now..."
September 11th, 2006 at 10:18 amInterview Dick Cheyney is like wrestling with a pig, you get dirty and the pig loves it.
Actually Dick Cheyney is a pig.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:19 amCheney does not need to read the Intelligence Report. He knows EXACTLY what it says. And why does BushCo continue to build the reputation of the 'terrorists', and belittle Americans by presenting us as so weak and helpless that by being critical of BushCo's continued string of disasters, we 'enable' the 'terrorists' to wipe out America. How is that helping us? BushCo is 'feeding the Trolls' and we all know what a bad idea that is.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:20 ama happy 'bush pretends to like new york city' day to everyone!
September 11th, 2006 at 10:22 amWithdrawal from Iraq means less money for Halliburton (Cheney).
Resolve is easy when your heart is robotic and others are paying the price.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:27 amI'm sorry Dick . . . . I was busy throwing darts at your picture . . .
September 11th, 2006 at 10:32 amdid you say something?
test test
September 11th, 2006 at 10:35 amAfter the 1991 Gulf War, Dick Cheney said: "I was not enthusiastic about US forces going into Iraq. We were there in the southernmost part of Iraq to the extent that we nneded to get him (Saddam) out of Kuwait, but the idea of going into Baghdad, for example, or trying to topple the regime wasn't anything I was enthusiastic about. I felt there was a real danger here that you would get bogged down in a long, drawn out conflict, that this was a dangerous, difficult part of the world. To actually invade Iraq, I don't think it would have been worth it."
See? Cheney used to be at least sane.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:38 amSame S___, Different Day.
I'm amazed he did't pull in the Fascism Apeasers references...
September 11th, 2006 at 10:39 amDiffrent War..More shit...To bad birth control isn't retroactive....First candidate of choice..cheney............Blessings All.....Peace is the answer
September 11th, 2006 at 10:42 amAnd next it will be the dissentors, and then the democrats, and then any republicans who don't submit to the above.

September 11th, 2006 at 10:47 amIt's the three "I's".....INDICT, IMPEACH, INCARCERATE!
September 11th, 2006 at 10:48 amThere are few statements that anger me as much as these asinine proclamations do. If the Democrats had an ounce of brains, they would point out that what Cheney is saying is almost the same thing, word for word, as what was said regarding that "conflict" in a place called Vietnam. Back then, people like William Westmoreland and Robert McNamara and Walt Rostow were saying that we are this close to victory and we cannot allow the communists to break the will of the United States. They also emphasized that we cannot allow those liberal hippie scum to undermine the mission of the military by criticizing the policies of the Johnson and Nixon administration. Until the Tet offensive happened in Vietnam, the military was going to sacrifice as many soldiers and other military personnel as they thought necessary until they achieved their "objective." The big difference between then and now is that Nixon finally realized that that war had to come to a halt. This administration seems determined to throw as many troops into the meatgrinder-"into the valley of death rode the six hundred"-in order to maintain a state of perpetual war. If only someone would ask Cheney if he would continue to feel the same way if his own daughters were placed in harm's way while actually fighting in Iraq. But for people like Cheney and Bush and Rumsfeld, there can never be enough deaths, on both sides, to satisfy their blood lust. Bring those troops home-NOW!
September 11th, 2006 at 10:48 amWhen I walked into the homedepot and saw this poor excuse of a human being on the tv, I just wanted to kick in the screen. But the depot price was out of reach so I just had to temper my fantasy.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:49 amOh yes, it's obvious. In the same way that it's obvious that hunters around the nation were "encouraged" to take up their guns and "spray" birdshot in the faces of their friends, after the VP showed how it's done. People are impressionable after all.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:51 amNice $12000 gold Rolex, "stroke-face".
The man grossly exudes arrogance of disasterous proportions.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:52 amI concur with that Sharon.

PJ's just jealous because Clinton can create 12 million new jobs, reduce the national debt, balance the budget and preside over positive diplomatic relationships around the world AND get a blowjob at the same time!!!
September 11th, 2006 at 11:05 amThe Cheney spin machine is going to new levels of illogic.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:09 amRepublicans do not respect the Constitution. They hate our freedom. Why don't they all move to a country where debate is not allowed and stop whining? It would be a win/win situation.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:11 amTheodore Roosevelt:
September 11th, 2006 at 11:12 am
It is Dick Cheyney who abets terror.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:14 am"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 |
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 |
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 |
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 |
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 |
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 |
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 |
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
September 11th, 2006 at 11:15 am- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
Dick is a terrorist
September 11th, 2006 at 11:18 amDarth Cheney's brain is under oxygenated.
This is the only way (other than drugs/alcohol) that someone could be such a complete a**hole. Oh. Wait. He's a Republican. Nevermind. Maybe all Republican brains are under oxygenated?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:18 amI wonder what the terrorists think when they see people like Coulter and Malkin on mainstream American TV calling for the genocide and mass conversion of the Arab world.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:18 amThis disgusting man has no right to be vice president. He is ignorant of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. He has no respect for international law or human rights. He has no idea what a democracy is. He is a pathetic excuse for an American.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:19 amCheney only further validates his own bent twist and read on things. His opinion quit having relevance long ago.....like a bird chirpping in a cage. Bush and his cohorts can only accuse what crimes they themselves have gotten away with or so they believe. What do you believe?Would you make your own voice heard and vote count?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:20 amWe are fortunate to have Dick Cheney in this administration at this time.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:23 am"President Dick Cheney"
I wish he would.
Yeah, I agree with Dickhead. Our "enemies'" strategy is to break our will.
And what is "our will?" Why, the Constitution, of course.
The will of the American people is expressed in (1) Article II, Section 1, paragraph 8: Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: -- "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
(2) Article II, Section 2, paragraph 1: "The President shall be Commander in chief of hte Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the serveral States, when called into the actual Service of the United States."
(3) Article VI, paragraph 2: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treateis made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land ..."
(4) Amendment I: "Congress ahll make no law respecting an establishment of reliegion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or teh right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievance."
(5) Amendment IV, section 4: The valididty of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.
Looks like our will has been broken in at least five points, repeatedly, by Bush, Cheney and their appointees, repeatedly.
Naturally, BushCo would try to criticize their own critics instead of facing up publicly to the fact they are the broken-willed cowards who have knuckled under to terrorism from the start.
Any draft dodger can sit in an office in Washington and order some kid he doesn't know to go kill innocent people, or blow up cities.
It takes a real leader with real will to defend the Constitution, though.
Don't tell us about "broken will," Dickhead.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:24 amDid anyone notice, that even with its anti-Clinton (and by extension, pro-Bush) bias, part I of " The Road to 9/11" never mentioned Iraq or Saddam Hussein.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:29 amAlso, it got the dstinct impression that it is law enforcement work, not the deployment of thousands of troops that will break up Al Quaeda.
#33- Badmoonman- Good point. I would like to point out that after the Gulf War, Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton for awhile. Could this have anything to do with his 'change of heart' where Iraq was concerned? I'm probably just imagining things...
September 11th, 2006 at 11:36 amHas anyone else noticed his "opps".
So close to the anniversary of 9/11, wearing a pin of the American flag would have been a nice gesture of respect.
He wore one back in 2003 on the same show.
Or is it because this is we no longer live in America?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:39 amIt takes a real leader with real will to defend the Constitution, though.
Comment by libera elite — September 11, 2006 @ 11:24 am
And this leader would be Russ Feingold. Please encourage him to run in 2008.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:50 amWhere I come from when someone doesn't tell the truth it's not a mistatement - it is a lie. For our highest public officials to lie, to convince us to support a misguided agenda is treason, and reason for Impeachment. How many lives have to be spent, how much blood spilled, how much ill-will fostered even among our friends and allies before we as a country "get it"?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:51 amHe actually said, debate encourages terrorists. Let us all stop asking questions immediately and bow down to our Dear Leader.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:52 amCheney pretty much sums it all up; 60% of American are aiding terrorists. Since the Bush White House with Cheney at the front have gone "all in" with Iraq as their legacy you might think they would try a little harder to make it a success. Iraq is a failure by any measure.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:54 amPJ, OK so you can google monkey - and you point is what?
1. The quotes you list are from people who were only shown the 'facts fixed around the policy' by the WH and the Pentagon OSP. None of the doubts, conflicting intelligence or dubious nature of the sources were given these people.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:55 am2. Whether or not broad agreement on WMD existed prior to March 2003 is immaterial, the world in generla wished to give the UN inspectors more time to complete the task to prove it one way or another - George Bush stopped them.
3. And subsequently, EVERY SINGLE rationale for invasion: WMD, Sep 9-11 link, oil pays for the war, over in 6 weeks, establish rule-of-law and democracy, has failed to prove true or be delivered
'Dick go f*ck yourself' Cheney is the biggest liar this administration has.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:59 amSeeing him retract statements & take a back seat to other power brokers is not enough. He must be charged & tried for his personal vendettas that have ruined or killed others.
When "conservatives" see a guy like Cheney on Meet the Press, do they see a visionary leader with the rights and well-being of Americans on his agenda or a dillusional neocon liar with blood on his hands? When "conservatives" voted GOP did they really think they would instead get "neocon?" Cheney to America: "The GOP has nothing to offer voters in November."
September 11th, 2006 at 12:05 pm#48 so does that make Dick, servile, morally treasonous, unpatriotic, or some combination of all three?
September 11th, 2006 at 12:07 pm“but they’re absolutely convinced they can break our will. The American people don’t have the stomach for the fight.â€
The sight of this waste of space makes me want to vomit. The balls of this man to expect others to fight, when Dick had his chance to fight he found a way to get five deferments. This coward won’t even fight for his gay daughter to have rights.
“He’d be sitting on top of a big pile of cash, because he’d have 65 and $70 oil†yes all that cash can now go to his cronies.
September 11th, 2006 at 12:28 pmThat is the justification we are left with? Saddam would of made money if we didn’t take him down?
Cheney is seriously mentally ill and needs to be institutionalized before he harms the US any further! He must resign or be impeached ASAP by Congress!
September 11th, 2006 at 12:33 pm"Hey you 70% of America, you filthy terrorists...oh and by the way remember to vote republican in November".
September 11th, 2006 at 12:43 pmThomas Jefferson quote
September 11th, 2006 at 12:48 pm“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.â€
Why does Dick Cheney disrespect our founding fathers?
And perhaps the best of TJ
September 11th, 2006 at 12:48 pm“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyrannyâ€
So let me get thsi straight. These people hate us for our freedoms, but the right wants us to give up our freedoms. These people hate democracy, yet according tot he right, when we exercise democracy and have debate on the issue, it heartens them? I'm confused I would sy the right hates our freedoms and hates democracy as much as the terrorists, hwoever there is one big difference, the terrorists can only kill me, the right has the power to end these hated freedoms and curtail this hated democracy.
September 11th, 2006 at 12:53 pm[...] Or so says The Penguin. He’s been saying all kinds of interesting things on Meet the Press lately, but his latest statement concerning “what the terrorists want” is borderline insane. [...]
September 11th, 2006 at 1:06 pmMmmhmmm. Sounds like a vote for tighty-whities is a vote for the terrists.
September 11th, 2006 at 1:26 pmVoting at all is probably unAmerican. Shouldn't we just appoint them all regents and forget Democracy entirely?
According to Cheney, terrorists “are encouraged, obviously, when they see the kind of debate that we’ve had in the United States, suggestions, for example, that we should withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq.â€
One question: How do you know so much about what terrorists want? hhmmmm.
September 11th, 2006 at 1:56 pmCheney: Revealing the truth aides the enemy. Therefore, we must lie through our teeth to avoid giving the terrorists what they want. If you don't lie, or accept our lies as thruth, then you are abetting the enemy. Telling the truth is un-American. Lying like there is no tomorrow is the only way to keep American safe. Support the Troops! Lie! Lie! Lie!
September 11th, 2006 at 2:01 pmso what exactly is our mission in Iraq? Bleed...Spend...and radicalize the locals??? This administration has forgotten every lesson we should have learned from Viet Nam...about how to wage a guerilla war...and wouldn't listen to its own military about how we were making things worse...until it was obvious to all that we were LOSING. Lethal ARROGANCE AND INCOMPETENCE. wHY did Bin Laden release his tape right before the 2004 election?? Because he needed Bush to win.
September 11th, 2006 at 2:04 pmThat's the most tired old lie. Pointing out the obvious—those who oppose the stupid policies of Bush/Cheney are against the terrorists, of course. So, he starts off by insulting us. Then, of course, his stupid policies have made the terrorists much stronger over the past five years. Finally, he even stopped looking for the guy who attacked us. He's gotten everything wrong—"last throws of the insurgency", "greeted as liberators", etc. If he ever says anything true, it'll be an accident...
September 11th, 2006 at 2:19 pm#65 PJ, OK so you can google monkey - and you point is what?
Point is Liberals suck, ask Monica.
September 11th, 2006 at 2:56 pmWhy does Bin Laden Love the Republicans???
September 11th, 2006 at 3:30 pmThey are all in lock-step, scared to death of the orange flightsuit.
September 11th, 2006 at 3:41 pmFor Cheney to say that debate is Unamerican, unpatriotic, and helps the terrorists is absurd. If everything he has told us is the truth, then what is he afraid of? It's times like this that we need more critique. It's the only way to keep the public informed and the government kept in a power balance. Silence people and garner more power. He and the administration sound like they are using Machiavelli's "The Prince" as a guidebook.
September 11th, 2006 at 7:05 pmCheney is also guilty of the most aggregious logical fallacies to hit the airwaves in 50 years:
"I don't know how you can explain five years of no attacks, five years of successful disruption of attacks, five years of, of defeating the efforts of al-Qaeda to come back and kill more Americans," Cheney said. "You've got to give some credence to the notion that maybe somebody did something right."
I know how to explain it. See, I've had a leprechaun locked in the garage since September 12, 2001. Every day I give him a piece of gold from the captured pot at the end of my bathroom's rainbow (you can only see it when you turn on the shower). I say, "Leprechaun, here's a piece of gold. You know what to do."
September 11th, 2006 at 8:26 pmIt is treason to criticize Americans that question the decisions of its president and Congress (paraphrase President Teddy Roosevelt, Republican). Cheney is guilty of treason.
September 11th, 2006 at 9:02 pmInterview Dick Cheyney is like wrestling with a pig, you get dirty and the pig loves it.
Actually Dick Cheyney is a pig.

Hey Walt - don't insult the pig :)
September 11th, 2006 at 9:18 pm#81, my that was a sparkling piece of wit wasn't it? I bask in the warm glow of your intellect.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:16 pmHey, Cheney - abet this!
September 11th, 2006 at 10:16 pmThat's a pretty rediculous thing for Cheney to say considering that Halliburton has made multi-billion dollar pipeline deals with the Taliban over the past ten years.
September 11th, 2006 at 10:26 pmI understand that Cheney wants to catapult the propaganda with repeating the same phony phrases over and over again ad nauseum, but why in the hell do the talk shows invite him on? Do they think he's going to suddenly confess his sins on their show?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:11 pmOr - is this another example of the networks kowtowing to the demands of the White House?
I suspect it is that the networks ingratiate themselves to their friends in the White House and Congress because they know that deregulation allows them to continue to even greater ownership (read money).
The Dick has got it wrong: war profiteers are the ones who aid these people: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0806-21.htm
September 11th, 2006 at 11:21 pmMr. Cheney, Americans haven't lost the will to fight, they have lost the will to be led like sheep by their government which has lied to them. Yes, it is Vietnam all over again.
September 11th, 2006 at 11:48 pm[...] Five years later the sentiment of Stewart is a harsh memory of what might have been. Just days before the fifth anniversary of 9/11 the number of deaths in the “Global War on Terror” surpassed those taken in the fateful attacks on that day. Our “political capital” abroad turned out to be counterfeit as our “Coalition of the Willing” dissolved. Those in the halls of power now view dissent, even in defense of our civil liberties, as tantamount to treason. [...]
