Novak Slams Jon Stewart: ‘Self-Righteous Comedian Taking on Airs of Grandeur’»

During an appearance on C-SPAN, columnist Robert Novak was asked about his television viewing habits. Novak said, “somebody mentioned the Jon Stewart program, I’ve never seen that in my life and I will go to my grave never having seen it.” Asked why, Novak said, “I don’t see any reason for it. It’s a comedian, self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur and I really don’t need that.”

Novak also said “I have a lot of problems with Chris Matthews” and won’t watch his show.

Any chance Novak’s views about Jon Stewart have something to do with this Daily Show feature?

Digg it!

Full transcript:

Q: That brings up the question how much television do you watch, what other shows do you watch and do you spend much time in front of that tube?

NOVAK: Well, I have a — yeah, I do spend a lot of time. I’m able to, what’s the fancy term now, multi-task. I’m able to write and talk on the telephone and watch television at the same time, which is pretty good for an old man, isn’t it, Brian? And I have a television set right next to my terminal at work and I have one next to my terminal at home, and I do a lot of C-SPAN watching. I really enjoy, I watch, I watch the Senate, House, particularly the Senate, and I get a lot of story ideas from that. I watch a lot of C-SPAN and I watch the cable networks considerably. But, I don’t — I don’t watch — I have a lot of problems with Chris Matthews, which I won’t go into. This is not the Chris Matthews show, but I just don’t watch that program. And I certainly, somebody mentioned the Jon Stewart program, I’ve never seen that in my life and I will go to my grave never having seen it.

Q: Why?

NOVAK: I don’t — I don’t see any reason for it. It’s a comedian, self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur and I really don’t need that. Politicians are funny enough without a professional comic.

I am ill informed to discuss the subject with knowledge since I have NEVER SEEN an episode but I have biased pre-conceived bigotry and therefore giving me the impugned authority to spew my judgements and disdain. You see sir…..I am a Rape-public-can.

What is there else to say? Novakula is a lying douchebag.

I am not knowledgable about the subject having NEVER SEEN the show but I will spew vitrialic bigotry and biased hatred as it is something I do not understand so I must hate it. Therefore, I am ill informed to make an informed decision but I will hate it without reason, you see sir, I am a RAPE-PUBLIC-CAN

  4. Zooey Says:

OMFG, that is beyond funny. Novakula calling anyone else “self-righteous.”

He really is the “Douchebag of Liberty!” Jon is just that good….

  5. Jackie Says:

Novak is to busy lying about the CIA Case and coving his friend Karl Rove’s ass. Novak will be watching Jon Stewart and Dancing with the Stars while in jail. That organe jumpsuit will look good on the oil man. Just say the names Joe Wilson and Patrick Fitzgerald and what Novak shake.

  6. George Says:

Novak likes the “Robert Novak Show” the best.

  7. Krank Says:

Ah, yes, the “I don’t have to see it to know it’s crap” denunciation.

This statement is right in line with Novakula’s typical level of research for his pronouncements.

  8. Toonguy Says:

It’s true. Conservatives really have no sense of humor.

  9. Hunter Says:

Gee, you’ve never seen the show and yet you slam it that harshly? I really don’t believe for a second that a pundit has never watched Hardball or the Daily Show.

  10. Jack Mayhoffer Says:

Who let Novak back into the punditocracy anyway?

  11. Karim Says:

Anyone who outs a CIA officer has no buisness calling anyone else self-righteous.

  12. David B Says:

    Mr. Novak,
Many Americans can say the same of your column. Never read it, never will.

  13. ForTruth Says:

The screenshot is priceless, someone Photoshop-in a court jester’s outfit on that man!

  14. katy Says:

does he realize that he just put more fuel on that fire?
i’m looking forward to jon’s take on this…

  15. cynicalgirl Says:

I can’t wait for the Daily Show on Monday!

  16. ZimmJim Says:

“It’s a comedian, self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur and I really don’t need that.” Gee, I wonder what he has to say about Rush Limbaugh, the appointed talking joke of the GOP.

  17. Clyde+the+Ripper Says:

Maybe there is a reason the ass doesn’t have a show of his own.

  18. LOLer Says:

Yes, guess which clip we’ll see there! Jon Stewart must be getting fat and lazy. With all this comedy being thrown at him, he barely has to work at all!

  19. trueblue Says:

    C’mon, Novak,
We know you’re hooked on “Dancing With The Stars”.

(”Oooh, I just love to watch Tucker shake it”)

  20. Rumpl4skn Says:

Spoken like a true Douchebag of Liberty.

He’s never watched the show? OMG, someone leaked The Daily Show transcripts to Novak, call Fitzgerald. He’s certainly not too busy to fake another inquest.

  21. WaltTheMan Says:

    #15 - cynicalgirl,
Why wait for the Daily Show? Novak was more comical than anything that Jon Stewart could come up with.

  22. Sharon Cox Says:

Look closely at the miserable face of a traitor. Ugly old man seeking his 15 minutes of fame right after he kissed bull shit bush’s ass, outed a CIA agent and collect’s his 30 pieces of gold….He diserves jail time, not our attention….Blessings

  23. Triumph Says:

    #14

    #18

    and everyone else …

It is true that the writers for the Jon Stewart show are talented …

But the best writers for the show are actually the republicans, neo-cons and right wing idiots themselves …

    Check out this story

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14868608/

  24. Marge Says:

Feels good. The MSM does not have the guts to tell the public what kind of people we have in office and the real “scumbacks” that support them. It is very refreshing to see SOMEONE who hits the ball. Old Matthews and his softball program sure misses it every time.

Novak, his columns and comments are the real face of the republican party. And when ever anyone calls attention to that they mess their shorts.

  25. photon Says:

Now we know where their faulty intelligence comes from. Republicans don’t need to actually gather facts before they reach their conclusions. Keep your head in the sand Robert!

  26. starwheel Says:

Frankly, I don’t care what Robert Novak thinks about Jon Stewart.

I really don’t care what Robert Novak thinks about anything.

  27. CyraBrown Says:

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Poor Bob, he’s looked at life from both sides now. And the view isn’t nearly as nice from the basement, is it Bob? Well, he brought it on himself. He thought he was immune to any consequences for his actions. SURPRISE!! Bob is just jealous of Jon, he misses his T.V. shows, and being so ‘popular’. Bob Novak, just another ‘casualty’, in BushCo’s war on everything. That look on his face says it all. What a spoiled brat! Somebody call the WAAAAAAmbulance!

  28. katy Says:

…besides, jon and the daily show did not take on “airs of grandeur” … all the “grandeur” and praise and approval as been HEEPED onto them by grateful, truth seeking fans and fellow patriots…

  29. unbelievable Says:

Typical holier-than-thou ignorant… He criticizes things he knows nothing about.

Jon Stewart is a better journalist than Novak will ever hope to be.

  30. John+the+Elder Says:

Does any thinking human being give a flying crap what this neocon lowlife thinks about anything. I can’t think of a greater endorsement for Jon Stewart than to know that Novak a. has never seen the show upon which he has the unmitted gall to pass judgement, b. will go to his grave(not soon enough) not having seen the show. This total waste of a human life is a nobody who by his airs, with his nose stuck up, thinks he is above us all. He may have escaped human judgement for his treacherous actions, but he still has to face his Maker who is the ultimate Just Judge.

  31. kelso Says:

when is that old geez going to hurry up and die already?!!

  32. bones Says:

Novak is absolutely right, he “doesn’t need” any of this. This washed up evil, crotchety old man who exposes CIA operatives and brass plate CIA operations needs solitary confinement in a federal prison for the rest of his life. He doesn’t need TV, computer access, or anything other than time to reflect on his actions that destroyed so many lives, got CIA agents killed, and imperilled US security. So, there’s a first I totally agree with this asshat.

  33. Shannon Cunningham Says:

A self-righteous comedian? Is he trying to talk about Jon Stewart?

Wow, at least there’s one thing he’s said in his life that wasn’t a lie: he’s definitely never seen the show.

  34. 'sconset Says:

I saw this live on Friday–Novak is so filled with hatred. Does anyone have the footage of when his teeth flew out of his mouth on Crossfire? I would give anything to see that. He was so angry during an argument and stuttering and stammering that his teeth actually flew across the table. That’s all I could think of when I was watching him on Friday. Also, what is Novak’s greivance with Matthews?

  35. r paul Says:

    it’s sad

this guy is obviously drunk as a skunk and can barely keep his eyes open.

who give a flying f888 about his opinion anyway?

  36. r+paul Says:

    be arrogant to the arrogant

    lie to the liars

and crack the bullies over the head with a bat

give as good as you get

novak. who takes him seriously anyway?

  37. Shag Says:

He’s a reichwing fascist hack. How he’s worthy of any crediblity at all, is beyond me. I hope the Catholic Church is proud of people like, Mel Gibson, and William Bennet.

  38. Jeffrey Stewart Says:

The unthinkable has happened! I agree with this gas bag! I can’t stand to watch Chris Matthews either!

He just asked for it. Unlike the Dems Jon Stewart will not let him get away with those comments.

    Get ‘em, Mr. Stewart!

  39. SUSA Says:

Airs of grandeur….yeah! dealing with crazy people and the mentally insane running your country and almost half of the population supporting it and also being completely insane will make you behave with some airs of gradeur.

  40. Zooey Says:

So, please tell us the names of the republicans writing for John Stewarts show….
    Comment by ren

Please tell me you’re being sarcastic, because if you’re not, it’s really just too sad…

  41. The+Lemming+Herder Says:

I can’t wait to see what Stewart makes of this next week.

Posted by the Lemming Herder from Don’t Be A Lemming!

  42. keefer Says:

Novak has alot of problems with reality and reality has a liberal bias.

  43. Jeff Says:

Novak calling someone self righteous is a real knee slapper.

  44. sunshine Says:

If I were Novak, I’d leave well enough alone and not bring any more negative attention to himself than he already has with the Plame incident. Obviously, the self-righteous “mirror” is up in his face with his criticism of Stewart, coupled with a more than healthy dose of sheer envy. I say this to Novak: “Meow….your “green” is showing, Bob!”. Novak’s career is washed up by his involvement in outing Valerie Plame. Time for him to hit the sidelines running…

  45. Mr. Todd Says:

brilliant logic again from Novak! paraphrase: “i havent seen the daily show, or know whats on it, but golly i think its bad ( :( supergrumpyfrownyface). ”

long live the douchebag of liberty

  46. Zooey Says:

    Ren,

My apologies, I saw that you had realized Triumph was being facetious after I commented.

You’re right about the pope’s “apology,” ren, he apologizes like a Republican.

  47. Triumph Says:

    Ren

    Zooey

As you now realize, the repubs and the neocons produce the best raw material for anti-repub and anti-neoon humor just by doing what they do.

Like hiring two people who have no accounting expertise to oversee a $13 billion budget in a post-war economy - just because they are lifelong conservative republicans.

With all due respect to the talent and imagination of the writers on the Jon Stewart show - you can’t make stupid shit like this up ! It is too stupid for a sane person to make up on their own !

  48. unbelievable Says:

Remember, these are the people who think Colbert is serious… They discredit themselves all on their own.

  49. Vincennes Says:

Well, I certainly won’t watch or listen to Novak, an unindicted traitor to the United States of America.

  50. winston+smith Says:

Have you ever wondered why in just about every photo Novak looks as if he just ate a cowpattie?

  51. Undouched Freedom Says:

“… I’ve never seen that (The Jon Stewart Program) in my life and I will go to my grave never having seen it.”
    - Robert Novak

I’d like to see some proof!

  52. Anastasia Says:

When Novak says that Jon Stewart “is taking on airs of grandeur,” what he’s really saying is that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are pitchfork carrying usurpers and that only the media aristocracy (like him) can comment on the news.

Of course, the media aristocrats acted as courtiers to their King, George II, by doing his bidding instead of there job, which is to act as a check on abuse of power. Now we’re in the deepest of deep doo-doo because the media didn’t do their job; the only TV news we can trust comes from the court jesters.

There is no one DC who more pompous or full of himself than Robert Novak. If the peasants are standing at the gates of palace with pitchforks, ready for revolution, it’s because media stars like Novak have been serving the King instead of the people.

  53. suds Says:

I think Bob looks like he may going to his grave pretty soon—he looks sick—or is just that CNN and Fox make-up artists are so good?

  54. shieldvulf at playful Says:

Come on, people, honestly! Who but Novak knows better the “self-righteous . . . taking on airs of grandeur?” Give the man credit for what expertise he can claim.

  55. Shlomo Says:

I, for one, have never understood the apeeal of a Robert Novak to anyone, let alone the mainstream media. Half the words he says are unintelligible and the oher half have little or no relevenace to whatever topic is under discussion.

I wonder if the other pundits are forced by the terms of their contracts to interview him. He has been a stammering and slow-witted buffoon for at least 20 years now.

  56. unbelievable Says:

What the Hell is he doing on C-SPAN anyways?
    Comment by ren — September 17, 2006 @ 2:20 pm

    Free entertainment? :)

  57. Jay Randal Says:

Novak looks and acts like an old coot now, so who cares what he thinks about anyone!

  58. keyword Says:

    Bob, you ignorant slut!

  59. Coffins_draped_with_flags Says:

John Stewart should have fun with this one. Stephen Colbert may also pick up the challenge. And Novak thinks he’s a real news reporter? Who is he kidding? I thought Novak was a stray from the Comdey Channel.

  60. nitpicker Says:

“That Jon Stewart is a jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place…”

  61. duncan Says:

“…I will go to my grave never having seen it.”

….jeez, can’t wait - please don’t prolong our agony and just go already.
You’re one sleazebag who will never be missed by the public or your peers, you pompous pus filled “pundit”.

  62. Carl Muecke Says:

I’m not sure what problems Novak has with Chris Matthews…whose knees are sore from munching Administration tubers.

Only recently, probably sensing the changing winds of political fortune, is Chris getting a little bit critical of this Administration. He still bashes Dems and leftie bloggers every chance he gets.

  63. monchie b. monchum Says:

With all due respect to the talent and imagination of the writers on the Jon Stewart show - you can’t make stupid shit like this up ! It is too stupid for a sane person to make up on their own !

The day before the 2004 election, Stewart sort of endorsed Kerry without actually naming him by begging the audience, “Please make my job harder!”

  64. ABBinMI Says:

“…I will go to my grave never having seen it.”

    Hopefully soon. Very, very soon.

  65. Marie Says:

Miserable little man. Reminds me of Rumplestiltskin. I expect him to have a vertical hissey someday and dissolve into a steaming puddle.

  66. rick+s Says:

    novak is a douchebag!

  67. Jax, Ellicott City, MD Says:

Why this man still has a job at WaPo, I’ll never understand. He has no ethics, and by extension, neither does WaPo.

  68. Joe Says:

“I won’t watch him until the day I die” Hmm, maybe someone should force him to watch it, it could just be the day!!

  69. slappy magoo Says:

If it is true that Novak has never watched The Daily Show, I’m sure he;ll plenty of occasion to do so soon. Most prisons have at least basic cable

  70. JIMBO Says:

    Comment by slappy magoo — September 17, 2006 @ 4:19 pm

Depends on what kind of cable: TV or Novak’s cellmate. ;)

  71. sunshine Says:

Robert Novak is the quintessential self-serving self-righteous horses’arss!
He’s irrelevant at this point in time. He disappeared from the radar and no one missed him…boo hoo! Happy to see him go! Another slick, slimy con artist!

  72. enough Says:

Novak can write while watching TV? Novak can write??

  73. Bazo Says:

How does Novak knows that Jon Stewart is a “Self-Righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur” if hasn’t seen the show?!?!?!?!?

and it takes one to know one….

  74. Bazo Says:

how does he know that Jon Stewart is a “Self-Righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur” if he has not seen the show?!?!?!?

and…it takes one to know one!

  75. Jim Says:

If he’s never seen it, how does he know Stewart is self-righteous and has self-agrandizing airs?

I have a feeling some helpful friend in the office will have some clips of TDS to show Mr Novak very soon, and he just may regert this statement. Especially if “Stephen Colbert” takes Novakula’s side in the debate.

  76. eternal springs Says:

The very first time I saw Novak, I remember thinking No way, this guy is waaaay too ugly to be on TV! Smarmy little toad.

  77. Mr. Evil Says:

Robert Novak should be in jail. Plain and simple.

  78. chris Says:

“I’ve never seen that in my life and I will go to my grave never having seen it.”

anyone making statements like that, about a show that’s featured them in any capacity (i.e. these youtube clips) is a damned liar. We already know he’s a liar, this is just icing on the cake. He’s seen it. He’s still pissed about Stewart’s fateful “Crossfire” appearance.

  79. Bigapopka Says:

Why does Huffington Post even bother to print novak’s comments or show a video clip. In fact, why bother with any of the right wing nut cases.

We readers want to hear from people who hate the white house idiots and are determined to throw out these incompentent politicians and get back to leaders who will be for the middle and lower class citizens.

  80. biggreenpea Says:

“self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur ”

This proves there is something wrong with guys like this. Novak is more self-righteous than, or as self righteous as every right wing pundit,,,and airs of grandeur??? Will the american people really buy this c#ap from this guy???

  81. Sheila Says:

OMG, I’m supposed to be making dinner and I’m laughing so hard I’ve lost my appetite. Espeically looking at this wretched excuse for a journalist. I agree with all, and can’t wait for Jon’s reaction. It’ll take a week at least to put it all together. Maybe Colbert will have Novak on as a guest, Novak’s so stupid he’ll think Steven is a right wing-nut. What great entertainment.

  82. neopro Says:

Jon Stewart just won another Emmy award a few weeks ago. How many awards has Novak won? I doubt any. Unless of course if there is an award for being a disgusting pathetic lying reich-wing piece of shit, then Novak probably has a library of those.

  83. neopro Says:

It actually makes sense that Novak would judge a show he’s never seen. After all, he had no problem judging the “pile of Saddam’s WMDs” that he also never saw.

  84. NeverVoteRepublicanAgain Says:

You mean a person that commits treason against their country and then gets an interview about how he feels about other people. Sorry Robert but nobody really cares what you think. You belong in jail for outing a CIA operative.

You ugly old troll, nobody reads anything you write either. Nor should they when you belong in jail. UNAMERICAN TROLL

    Bye bye.

  85. Toes Says:

    Message to Bob Novak:

    Kiss my southern ass!

  86. jarotra Says:

I will go to my grave never having seen, as I do every night before dawn.

  87. Mike Traurig Says:

From the looks of Novak I think he had one drink to many already
and should go sleep it off .What a douch bag .

  88. RealScientist Says:

    Novak is an absolute scoundrel.

  89. Jane E. Schneider Says:

#94, Neopro: “…there is an award for being a disgusting pathetic lying reich-wing piece of shit…” - yeah, in the Bush administration it’s called the Medal of Freedom.

  90. nullthis Says:

Conservatives have a sense of humor, we just don’t happen to think that some little faggyNY City jewboy stoned out on pot is verry funny. His shit is the same every night and it stinks

  91. Kevin P Says:

    “little faggyNY City jewboy”?

Damn null, you might want to lay off your Larry the Cable Guy dvds for awhile…

  92. tc Says:

Hmm….claims he hasn’t seen it but he knows a little bit about the Show…..me think thou doth protest too much Novakula. It’s also on at a time when your blood-eating instincts might be coming to the fore.

  93. Boudica Says:

Robert Novak, a man who always takes himself self too seriously, engages in an itty bit of transference. He’s just about done, no one, especially his co-horts on the right believe he’s good for a damned thing except a little cover. But he’s preaching to the choir. There is no-one, repeat, NO-ONE, who would believe anything this shallow, hollow, self deceitful person espouses. He is so transparently without ethical merit, he is absolutely repulsive to all that is decent. Prior to his exposure of Valerie Plame, one could assume he was just a wealthy, cranky, closed minded old geezer. That was Bob Novak at his best. That was the Novak who disguised his totally craven modus operandi. That was before the man was revealed as unpatriotic and willing to sacrifice the security of the United States for the benefit of himself and his criminal associates, er sources. He knew full well what he was doing. He has the nerve to criticize Stewart?

  94. Frank Says:

Novak is a treasonous son of a bitch. To out a covert operative, in our time engaged in the most distressing and explosive work of preventing nuclear proliferation, this after he was told by another CIA operative not to reveal her name, is the heighth of grievous insult to our nation, and by extension, world peace. What part of the word ‘nuclear’ doesn’t he understand?

  95. Jane E. Schneider Says:

“Conservatives have a sense of humor, we just don’t happen to think that some little faggyNY City jewboy stoned out on pot is verry funny. His shit is the same every night and it stinks”

Just a tad intolerant, aren’t you? And I suppose your idea of a good time is watching Ann Coulter’s adam’s apple bob up and down while she spews corrosive invective?

  96. Coffins+draped+with+flags Says:

Isn’t Novak a traitor? Didn’t he disclose classified information?

  97. farang Says:

It’s sad to see someone that has undergone a humorectomy, no?

  98. estebahn Says:

ha ha ha ha ha ha! nothing more funny than a grumpy old douchebag with no sense of humor. stewart and colbert are really starting to get under their skin.

  99. Jane E. Schneider Says:

#109, yes, I understand that the scar never completely heals, either. Although sometimes the person may occasionally feel a “phantom” laugh in what was left of his or her soul. ;-p

  100. Tom+Paine Says:

Novak has been in journalistic trouble ever since Rowland Evans died ; it only proves that Rollie was the brains of that dim-witted duo.

  101. Zooey Says:

    Jane’s on fire today!!

  102. Jane E. Schneider Says:

Zooey, it’s lack of sleep! Happy Constitution Day, by the way!

  103. gc Says:

i love my little faggy nycjew boy

novak sleeps in a coffin, he is a vampire
not like angel or spike either

  104. John Says:

    old fart

  105. blank Says:

Good night. This is going to be brutal.

  106. Dana Says:

self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur

Did you see the haughty look he got on his face after this remark? Novakula must have been referring to himself.

  107. Bruce v. Says:

For the life of me I cannot understand why Novak was not prosecuted for his crime of outing Valerie Plame. Why isn’t this pompous windbag in prison?

  108. andrew Says:

    “Slams?”

I think you could use a better word than that.

    More like “blathers on badly.”

    ::::

  109. BB Says:

Jon stewart said it best. He is a “douchebag.” A big one!
And if he has never seen it, then how come he says jon is Self-Righteous? Humm…

  110. Areola Leakie Sharon Says:

First to post is someone rash with a rabid bite who butchers the English language in an attempted assault. That is not how to use the word “impugne.” I thereby impugne the false impugner who calls himself “Your Conscious.” Novak made no bigoted comments whatsoever. Any bigotry rests within the aforementioned poster’s contaminated mind.

My conscious agrees with Novak. There are enough promos of the Daily Show to inform nonviewers of the tone and content of the show. Why I cannot watch the show myself is due to its lack of integrity and its lack of the true American heart and soul. Stewart admitted he hired 80% Jewish men which is in fact both sexist and bigoted and illegal.

Accusing Novak of bigotry while ignoring Stewart’s unlawful hiring practice is a sign that many people are unable to think clearly or independently.

Paul Wolfowitz is the architect of the Iraq war. He should be the one condemned. He put us in a costly war and underfunded the war so that our boys died unnecessarily due to underfunding of protective equipment. Wolfowitz displayed a reckless disregard for true Americans’ lives. He has American blood on his hands. We should rightly deem him as a careless gambler. Possibly a gambling addict. He gambled with our lives and money. Where is he today? The gambler is not head of the World Bank in Washington handling our money. And why should we trust this loserly gambler with our money? We shouldn’t. He denies other nations loans and instead puts all our chips on Iraq. Why does he do this? Because Wolfowitz is an Israeli national who is usurping America from within. He serves Israel’s interest not Americas. He has ensured that we die for them. Why is this situation allowed to exist? Because too many people don’t have the facts and can’t think independently. They are too busy watching the Hebrew Jon Stewart play the King’s fool and make political jokes at America’s expense. He taints the picture so you you are led away from seeing what’s right before your eyes. It’s time to get rid of Wolfowitz and hire someone who has been scrutinized and proven to be loyal to the people of this nation.

Wolfowitz displayed a reckless disregard for true Americans’ lives. He has American blood on his hands. We should rightly deem him as a careless gambler. Possibly a gambling addict. He gambled with our lives and money. Where is he today? The gambler is NOW head of the World Bank in Washington handling our money. And why should we trust this loserly gambler with our money? We shouldn’t.

  112. Areola+Leakie+Sharon Says:

I don’t see why Americans should continue breast feeding this covert Israeli war. We are not their mothers.

Wolfowitz has proven without a doubt that he does not care for our lives. As the architect of the Iraq war and the head of Washington-based World Bank, he’s proven to be a lame instrument of war. He’s the executive equivalent of the braindead Sharon, Isreal’s former head of state.

We need our own people to be the archetects of our own wars and as the head the World Bank to manage our money. It’s time to pull our nipple out of Israelis’ mouths. It’s time to push them out of the nest. They went in to commit a genocide on Lebanese and failed. But let’s compare their armor to our armor in the recent battles. Where Israelis fighting in Lebanon better equiped than we were. We know they were sold our fighter jets at a huge discount. Not because they are cheap, but because they are conniving theieves were they able to deprive us of wealth and privilege. Those were our planes. If we had kept possession of them, perhaps our troubles in Iraq would have been long over by now. It seems we are being undermined by Israelis here and abroad. We have to put an immediate stop to this. Wolfowitz has our money laid down on one chip - Israel - and he proved to be a loser in Iraq. We cannot afford to have him on our side. Oh, he’s not really on our side, it’s just a pretense to gain access to our power and wealth which Israelis want to tranfer into their hands. It is in their hands because the traitors here have their hands on what is our.

This Novak/Stewart trivality is detracting Americans from what is more worthy of our time and attention. Put your thinking caps on and get with the program. This nonsens is not real information. It’s a diversion. We are at war, so act like it. The solution does not lie in being amused by traitors (Stewart) or impressed by them (Wolfowitz). It lies in spreading the truth. But first you have to know it. If you can’t be clever at least be honest with yourselves and admit you don’t have any idea what is going on or what position your country is in at this very moment. You don’t know who the enemy really is and you cannot tell what is true or not. If you start there you won’t be so quick to take the wrong side. The side to take in this war is not the one with the most popular court jester or the “achieved” individual in power. The side to take is the American side, the correct side, the only side to take now is the side that ensures we take our country back and survive. Siding with the court jester isn’t going to ensure survival. Historically court jesters have been assassins.

  113. Cstrut Says:

Robert Novak?…Who the hell is he? I don’t think he’s important enough to recognize. What an asshole Novak is.

  114. John Cahill Says:

regarding comment #123, did Areola Sharon actually refer to Jon Stewart as “the Hebrew??” What is THAT all about? Never mind that he isn’t either a language nor an ancient Israelite…but how come Wolfowitz comes off as an Israeli National instead? Maybe she meant Hebrew National? *grin*
oh, yeah…and who cares what Novak spews, err..thinks?

    John

  115. f. kaye Says:

Novak is a convert; he loves those evangelicals; once a self-hating Jew. He wants to fit in and have those religious right wing wackos kiss his a–.

  116. Gonzo Says:

Dear god, he is using a TERMINAL! He must be the only one left who is connected to the Internet through a mainframe! 80X32 monochrome I presume?

  117. Jericho Says:

Robert Novak does not watch Jon Stewart but and claims he’ll die never having seen the Daily Show but he knows enough about Jon Stewart to claim he’s a self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur?! Robert Novak is too ignorant and stupid to know himself and not even see that this is pure hypocrisy? This is the equivalent of the Pope giving the finger to Muslims because they spread their faith by the sword. (If you don’t spot the irony, Novak, look up the word ‘crusade’ or even ‘war on teror. Furthermore, you may close your eyes for Jon Stewart, but that doesn’t mean that Jon Stewart can’t see you.

  118. Anais Says:

Robert Novak is making Jon Stewart’s job too easy.

  119. flatus Says:

Of course the lying bastard has ssen the show. Why else would he be so strongly against it?

  120. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

I hope The Daily Show does a recap of all their Bob Novak stories right before Jon invites Bob to “meet me over at camera three.”

  121. Norm Says:

I remember Novak and Carvill arguing on CNN that he didn’t like his show and that Stewart didn’t have a good show. So if he had never seen his show, why is he making up that coment?

  122. apeman Says:

I quit reading him when he outed Plame.

  123. Joe Wiedner Says:

If I were Novack, I would get my money back for that embalming job.

  124. Happy+Guy Says:

Jon Stewart is just another Bush bashing hollywood elitest. I am sure Novak has a lot better things to do with his time.

  125. Frank Says:

“Novakian” is a new term coined by this conceited aging “columnist” traitor. His stunning unpunished traitorous contempt is worthy of enshrining his name in infamy. Talk about “a piece of work”… he takes the shameful cake. CNN did right to bounce him.

  126. Jane E. Schneider Says:

You know, I find it funny that when people use “elitist” as an insult, even when they spell it correctly, what they really mean is “intelligent.” So what’s wrong with being intelligent?

  127. BWANA Says:

Sweet-Old-Bob, a bitter old fart, has the gall to call Jon Stewart self-righteous

  128. TerrytheTurtle Says:

#140 jane - that one is #11 on the list for the Fourteen Points of Fascism - “Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts”

  129. DonnyOsmond Says:

“self-righteous”? “taking on airs of grandeur”? WTF?

Talk about the kettle calling the pot black!

Novak is an angry, narrow-minded, Jew-hating Jew who embraces the most conservative Christian faith, right-wing Catholicism. He wouldn’t know humour if it whacked him over the head with a nerf bat.

Novak is the embodiment of conservative media self- righteousness and ego. What a flaming hypocrite.

  130. Happy+Guy Says:

That is so funny. When a factually stunted conspiracy nuts call themselves “intellectuals” I actually laugh out loud. Define “elitism” and look in the mirror. That is what you want to be but no one has given you the spotlight.

Just like when you scream for free speech but don’t want to hear from someone with a different point of view. You people are so screwed up you can’t see yourselves for what you are. You live in a fantasy land. I can’t wait for elections so you can once again wonder “What happened? Why does the whole country not think like us and see we are right”. That’s right, you will once again scream fascism and claimed the elections were stolen again!

Those who took a course in Apology 101 can clearly see how the technique of diversion is used to nullify an offending remark. Recall how bush used this when he made a remarked to ‘the Dick’ about a reporter in the audience–he called him an A-hole, to which ‘the Dick’ responed, “yah, Big time”, and that was carried from the open mic to the audience. When bush became awair of the open mic he stated that it was “inappropriate” for the audience to have heard that!

Yes, blame the listener for having heard or read the blatent offence. Works very well for them. The ever vigilant was quick to …. to…look the other way.

No need to ‘wonder’ what happened. We know what ‘happened’. It’s called theft and fraud.

  133. Gwen Says:

Former GOP congressman now MSNBC ‘journalist’, faux populist Joe Scarborough was going on about Steward the other evening too. His question was was watching TDS making young people cynical about politics (?) and then he went off into an extended whine about the time that Steward called him a douche bag. It was hilarious. The only reason Novak and Scarborough are employed at all is because they’re willing to spin and disseminate an endless stream of conservative propaganda, lies and spin. ‘Douche bag’ was too mild.

  134. paul Says:

    Translation?

    I’ve watched it.
I know he’s got my number (as a repulsive douchebag).
And I am going to pretend not to have seen it.

(Why else would I have negative things to say about something I haven’t seen?)

    azzhole.

  135. Jane E. Schneider Says:

Gwen, did you notice during that segment on Scarborough that everyone there insisted that ‘young people don’t vote.’ They must have said it at least 5 times. I think that they’ll be proved wrong both this November and in 2008 - not that I think that the younger generation will be voting in droves, but they’re more politically aware now than ever, in large part due to TDS and The Colbert Report. So what if the kids are cynical? With politics, you HAVE to be.

  136. Arne Langsetmo Says:

Well, that does it. Guess I’ll have to watch TDS tonight.

Novak should have paid attention to Geraldo’s recent “free publicity”….

    :-)

    Cheers,

  137. yeahok Says:

all this from a proven to be biased “journalist”.

  138. Parrotlover77 Says:

I love it when “real” reporters get jealous of the fact that the Daily Show does a much better job of reporting news than they do. And it’s just a comedy/interview/talk-show format show.

Funny, that. Guess it must really hit a nerve with the veterans that toughed through journalism degrees, have years of experience, and then went and sold their souls to the highest bidder.

  139. Tom Says:

Hate it but haven’t seen it? Sounds like most of my repub friends who won’t see Farenheit 911 but are always glad to debate me on it.

Before I die I want to be able to pinch the fleshy part of Novak’s arm real, real hard.

Monday night on Comedy Central should be a gas. Look for Colbert to demand another apology from Stewart, this time for offending Novak.

    Tomass

  140. srgtick Says:

He will be one of Satan’s generals in Hell.

  141. Gaia sighs... Says:

That’s sad. And Stewart’s timeslot was ~so~ well-suited to The Prince of Darkness…

  142. Happy+Guy Says:

Wow, how twisted is that. You actually think real reporter are jealous of Stewart. He edits news clips to make jokes and when confronted says “He, this is a comedy, not the news”. But you lemmings watch it and think it is the news. He is a Hollywood liberal taking things out of context and hacked just like Moore did. No reality whatsoever but you watch this and think it is the NEWS?

No wonder you are all so factually screwed up. IT IS A COMEDY NOT THE NEWS!

  143. Jane E. Schneider Says:

Well, Jon certainly put Novak in his place last night! Well done, Jon!

  144. Jude Rouslin Says:

Someone asked Novak to be PS’d as a Court Jester? Would you settle for an iMovie Putz?. Not one of my better works…more like a video_doodle. OK! I admit, it was just a quickie throw together:-) _inside out graphics(ISOG)

  145. Chris Says:

I didn’t see this posted, but here is a clip from last night.

  146. Homer+Simpson Says:

Dah…Bush Bad guy… USA no good… IIt’s OK, Iran has nukes…They OK, Mr Wallace said so.

    You people are nuts!!!

Remember bafoons, if you support our troops, you must support the mission!

  147. Jane+E.+Schneider Says:

#162, please change your comment name, we LOVE Homer Simpson.

  148. Squidbilly Says:

    Hey #162

…Remember bafoons, if you support our troops, you must support the mission!……..

Even if Iraq invasion was a bunch of BS???? The question is how we can support the troops.

US is still good, Bush hasn’t completely ruined it.

Iran with nukes isn’t good, but solving that problem should have been dealt with first, now conditions are much worse to negotiate or even any thought of attacking it.

By the way, all media is questionable (yes, Fox news too)!!! Use your brain, you know, seek truth, use that thing on top of your shoulders!!!!!
