Well, I hear that Clinton had his interview with Chris Wallace, which will be aired on Sunday. Apparently Wallace had promised that the first half of the interview would be about the Clinton Global Initiative, but he broke that promise and for his second question he said something along the lines of “what my viewers want to know most is why you didn’t do more about terrorism and Osama Bin Laden.”
I’ve been told Clinton responded with a massive smackdown, putting Wallace in his place with a defense of Democrats and his administration’s record.
“what my viewers want to know most is why you didn’t do more about terrorism and Osama Bin Laden.â€
“It’s [smirk] hard work, look, I was on vacation see. Brush, look, PDB? besides, I don’t care if he is/isn’t Americas no#1 priority, I don’t care where Osama is, but I will attack Pakistan If he’s there, Look, It’[smirk] hard work, See [smirk] look brush” -GWB
[Clinton Pres] Sen. Don Nickles, R-Oklahoma, while praising the bill, said the country remains “very open” to terrorism. “Will it stop any acts of terrorism, domestic and international? No,” he said, adding, “We don’t want a police state.”
Longshot U.S. Senate candidate [Repub] Richard Mountjoy’s claims that he served about the famed battleship Missouri during the Korean war are false, according to today’s edition of the Los Angeles Times.
The 74-year-old [R] Mountjoy, who is currently in a longshot bid against Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), did serve on the heavy cruiser Bremerton, and briefly on the submarine Stickleback. However, rosters for the celebrated Missouri indicate he never served on board.
Dr. James Dobson Endorses Republican Dick Mountjoy
09-13-2006
Dr. Dobson: “Although Dick faces a big challenge in taking on Dianne Feinstein, I believe it is a battle he can win – if values voters in the Golden State will stand together!”
Oy! Dobson endorsed a LIAR. Now AtoxonAmerica what you gonna say about this?
Clean up on ailse 9, please! Thank you.
I really hope TP has gotten back on track with the site.
Like I said a couple of days ago, why hasn’t Clinton SUED their ass?
This is exactly what they wanted to happen by airing the Bush Propaganda! Damn!
People are so stupid sometimes.
Oh by the way dickie, i’m so glad that you’r a follower of WWE. Nice reality based program. Loade, I’m sure with a lot of socially redeeming value. So how are the masked persions doing?
God, if only Bill was running for office again. He seems to be the only one who takes no shit and gives it right back. Every Dem needs to take lessons from this guy.
He doesn’t let anything go unanswered – because if you don’t push back with these people immediately, they’ll just keep pushing until you’re off the radar.
Clinton is head and shoulders above Chrissie Wallace. Why he even bothered to go on Fox is beyond me. That network would slant the weather forcast if it thought it would be helpful to the GOP.
Wallace is a light-weight and a tool. I’ll leave it to my fellow traveler’s here on TP to watch O’Really and Insanity for their tweak on this. I wouldn’t watch Fox if my life depended on it.
I’m in my 50’s and too well-educated to stoop to the crap FOX and MSNBC serve up as news or political discours—and I believe that after reading this blog for so long that the majority of the respondents on these sites are also very bright. (Except the Trolls) “bbbut Clinton…
you know the goofballs I’m talking about.
Some rightwing nut has put up on u-tube that Clinton was the looser in the debate….they are already trying to poo poo the smackdown Clinton gave pissie chrissie.
Well, Clinton should take some resonsibility for not capturing or killing bin Laden. That can not be disputed. To disagree with this assertion is disingenuous. He was offered bin Laden by Sudan. Likewise, W has to take responsibility as well (although there is now some real speculation that bin Laden has been dead for a period of time now).
I just watched the entire interview on fox since I haven’t had time to look at the transcript so far, and I also feel that transcripts usually only get across what is said not how it is said. Well anyways I’d like to say one thing. That this was an interview.. and that Clinton hardly laid a smackdown on Chris Wallace who in general was pretty passive… afterall since the Path to 9/11 movie there must legitimately be alot of questions from the American public who are now confused about the events that led up to 9/11. Also I’d like to say that you people should stop blindly following Clinton as a saint because the fact is that he had 8 years really since the first WTC bombing to take terrorism seriously, and he never did. Despite what he claims there was no serious action taken to stop UBL or to stop the growth of Islamo-facism in the 90’s. I also thought it was interesting that Clinton said he would have alot more troops in Afghanistan in order to kill UBL.. since UBL is most likely in Pakistan, also why would Clinton divert thousands of extra troops in a man hunt for a solely symbolic vicotry since UBL has literaly no economic power left, and no real political say in the workings of the Al-Queida terror networks.
Clinton – shame on him for making network movies and World News present facts that can’t be challenged.
The Path to 911: Poor ABC! They had to change their docudrama “BASED†on the 911 Commission Report (most likely frightened by libel). They were forced to remove the lies about Clinton from the movie, poor things.
Poor FOX! – they tried to do their usual slanting of the facts. Clinton has (I hope) opened up America’s eyes today. The panel afterwards was so shocked by their network being exposed for what it is – they were scrambling (and very ineffectually) to discount the whole thing. Their tactics backfired in a History Making Event. Oh wait, let’s (Wallace) go back to the “original†reason Clinton was on the show – $7.3B he has been instrumental in raising for Global issues (to deflect from this can of worms we (FOX) opened on ourselves) .
Wow! I must say this is the first time I’ve ever watched FOX News Channel. The commercials are absolutely subliminal! Brainwashing? No wonder their regular viewers are so messed up!
Me. Stop watching Fox. The next thing you know, you’ll be mindlessly turning off the Daily Show. Putting your bong down. Climbing the stairs of your parent’s house, in a zombie-like trance. Out the front door, in search of a job. Don’t do it.
Just looking around and I came across this.
Sorry, the whole interview came accross as “I did not have sex . . .” etc. Nor would I call it a “smackdown”. SOunded more like whining to me.
I find it hard to believe that 1) Clinton did not know the questions that were going to be asked and 2) that he would agree to do an interview (with anyone) and sign the release before the interview was done, leaving editorial rights to someone not under his (or DNC) control.
I think what was aired, is exactly what Clinton (and the DNC) wanted to be heard.
Don’t you get it? Clinton pulled a typical narcissitic ploy. He now has everyone focusing on HIM again, thus, the focus on CGI which was his objective. He loved having the opportunity to get in the face of another and wag his finger while he gets so much attention. He will come out a winner in the long run so don’t feel sorry for him.
Bill got it right in his face. Bill and Biliary both have always had a long standing belief (paranoia) that the press was out to get them…I wonder why??? Anyway, Bill is so thin skinned..as is Bilary…so why do they put themselves into the lime light..Bill agreed to appear on the show..he got the pointed question. I got the feeling Bill only appeared to take shots at the media..which amazingly has traditionally been liberal in its coverage….Bill said he left office because he couldn’t get the armed forces to agree on getting Bin Laden…what a moron..this guy should be paranoid..he talks so much retarded diatrib that he cant remember his own lies…as he stated he was commander and chief..he could do what he wanted by order. Bill Wallace asked a ligit question..Bill freaked…but, he got what he wanted…his name in the news again. Lets move on and quit giving this idiot attention…like a whinning little b..baby!
GO BILL!! He may have lost his cool, but it’s about time! Anybody who doesn’t think that the media have attacked the Clintons is obviously biased. Who would call a man who still commands so attention and power in the world “an idiot?” Thankfully, he chooses to use his time and power in a way that benefits so many people in the whole world. I’m happy that he finally let go a bit and let everyone know his opinion on the one-sided questions… Bush and his buddies should be grilled on everything… bin Ladin/Iraq/Afghanistan, the environment, the growing deficit and our suffering economy, and American privacy rights… and his faux position on green energy.
Kudos Bill! It’s about time someone said it like it is. Too bad the other Dems in our party are not as riled up about all this evil administration does right under the nose of the American people. I agree with Bill Mayer when he said the American people are stupid. Of course I won’t generalize but you get my point. Why is everyone attacking the truth and just ignoring the facts about Bush. Can they not see that Bush has not only ruined people’s lives world wide he has also taken away many of our freedoms right here in the good ol U.S.A. He’s duped the older people of our country as he is trying to eliminate their medicaid. He has duped some of the younger generation by cutting school loans as well as pell grants which if he had his way he would also eliminate. He is sending our men and women to fight a war that is for his own personal agenda not for the good of the world. He has caused caos around the world and in our own country. Wake up people before the Anti-Christ takes you to hell with him.
Fed up with stupid people i
Read Clarke’s book you will see Clinton is the tool who lost contorl over the cia and fbi.Clinton is a quitter and ran his presidency by which ever way the wind blows.
wow, i think i’m about to say something that some reasonable progs will agree with. clinton looks a lot better when he keeps himself above the fray. at one point in the interview, he uses the word ‘kill’ in regards to bin laden about 10 times in 4 sentences. read the transcript. he usually looks more composed, but in the interview it looked like he was trying to outbush bush. next time, let the talking heads do the dirty work.
It amazes me that all of you would generalize the American people as stupid, when you should be looking in the mirror. Believing that Clinton was a great President is proof enough. Clinton was a disgrace as our President, not just for the Lewinsky debacle. He governed by polls, and never took any decisive action in any matter, other than in his Oval Office escapades. That’s one of the reasons that 9/11 happened, according to the Path to 9/11, which was produced by ABC, who has never been a bastion of conservative support. But people like you think he walked on water and try to protect him from criticism for what little bit of policy he did enact while in office. That’s why he comes unglued when Chris Wallace, who’s definitely not a conservative, wants some questions answered about his actions as president. He didn’t teach Chris Wallace a lesson. He looked and sounded like a hurt puppy, that someone would question his lack of action. He clearly let the threat grow, and even though everyone wants to bash Bush for not getting UBL, Clinton actually could have had him in jail or dead, long before Bush took office. But he didn’t. Smart, yes. Decisive and effective in dealing with the terror threat, think again, or for the posters on this site, think for the first time.
Bottom line. Not even on the topic of 9/11 or Bin Laden, the current administration has run our economy straight into the ground (ground being their pockets). GWB’s performance rating is one of Needs Significant Improvement. From what I have heard, in corporate America, that type of performance rating would make the employee subject to dismissal. Of course, maybe he should get a chance to do better…after all, there are just so many Americans who are employed because of the current administration’s efforts to help our economy? Oh wait… that was PRESIDENT CLINTON that had the national deficit in the BLACK instead of the RED. When PRESIDENT CLINTON was in office, most of the general population could actually tell you who the VP was from a photo….because we had actually seen Al Gore playing an active role in our government. Just like Dick Cheney, the entire administration of GWB has been taking a nice long vacation at the taxpayers’ expense.
Dear Sir, I am age 87 and wish the Dems. would stand up to all the karl rove disinformation and lies. Please, Mr. l Clinton rally the troops. With rightous indignation, call for a stop ofname calling, character assasination, relious government invasion. Be strong, beclear and ask for a cleaner election. I respect your status as an ex pres. calls for prudence, but is it imprudent to defend the vulnerable and unsophisticated? Jeepers, I fought in wwii, was no hero but did my jobs, and rove calls me a traitor? CLL OUT FOR ALL OF US. CLEAR THE AIR. FOCUS THE ISSUE OF LIES AND FEAR. PLEASE HELP US, SIR.WILL BE FOR HILLARY LATER.
Hi,
I’m from Europe and i am so relieved that finally your former president speakes out!
I’m proud of the Americans because I see that after some years of outrageous government the democratic forces strike back!
Hooray Bill!. I wish he could run again. I hope the dems take a lesson and learn to kick ass – it’d be about time. First 2006 and then the white house – hooray
It was a legitimate question that gave Clinton the opportunity to clear up any of the misinformation of the past weeks. In addition, he
had the attention of the very audience that he so desperately wanted to convince of his true actions.
Clinton’s temper is rarely seen publicly but was widely known to his former staff and is well-documented. He showed a bit of this side of his personality in this interview and to anyone who can think for themselves it was obvious that Clinton overreacted and Wallace did not expect it to be such an issue. Furthermore, upon asking the question about Bin Laden, Clinton’s press secretary demanded unsuccessfully for the interview to be terminated immediately…if Clinton is so adamant about his actions being justified then what is the problem?
I’m not against Clinton or for Fox news but seriously people, nothing was “slanted” and Clinton wasn’t “sandbagged.” Wallace asked Clinton the question that any reasonable reporter would want to ask amidst all of the controversy and Clinton’s own actions over the past few weeks. I suppose a left-wing reporter wouldn’t ask that question because he or she would be too afraid of upsetting their viewers or possibly be too busy praising Clinton for his brilliance in every aspect of governing.
…I do applaud Clinton for his Global Initiative
GOOD FOR BILL CLINTON/ AN INTELLIGENT ANSWER TO AN IGNORANT QUESTION. THEY BASHED THE WRONG PERSON. THE PRESENT SO CALLED LEADERS (FOR LACK OF A BETTER DISCRIPTION) COULDN’T ANSWER A STATEMENT THAT TOOK THAT MUCH MENTAL THOUGHT. SINCE WHEN IS ORAL SEX WORSE THAN MURDER? BUSH COULDN’T PUT TWO THOUGHTS TOGETHER IN ONE SENTANCE WITHOUT SOME ONE ELSE WRITING IT FOR HIM. THEN HE HAS PROBLEMS MAKING IT LOOK LIKE HE IS MAKING AN INTELLIGENT STATEMENT. HEY! NOW WE KNOW WHY THE BUSH ADMINSTRATION DOESN’T GET QUESTIONS LIKE THAT. OUR MEMORY IS SO SHORT WHEN WE FORGET THAT THE TWO BUSHES CAME FROM THE MENTALITY OF THE SCULLS, AND WHAT THEY STAND FOR. LOOK IT UP AMERICANS!!! FIND THE OATH THEY TOOK TO DOMINATE THE WORLD BY OIL CONTROL. SOUND FAMILIAR? THEN IT WOULDN’T HURT TO LOOK UP THE PRESENT ACTIONS IN THE LAST TIMES .EVEN THOIUGH YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN THE BIIBLE–I’TS ALL THERE.
The point that everybody seems to miss is what Clinton cearly stated as the real problem. It was NOT that the question was legitimate, but the CONTEXT in which it was asked. Faux news has a celarly defined pattern of posing “questions” in such a way as to uphold their neocon base. Asking Clinton “Why didn’t you do more to stop Bin Laden?” is like asking “Did you stop beating your wife?” The question itself is based on a slanted hypothesis. Faux news consistently uses these types of tactics to put democrats and progressives on the defensive and then sits back and “smirks” at the response their ploys generate. Bill finally gave them the measured and truthful kind of response they deserve. What he SHOULD have specified though, is that the “source” he referred to so carefully was, and continues to be Faux News and their unabashed conservative platform POSING as journalists. Kudos to Bill Clinton. I too, wish he could run again. How about someone sponsoring an amendment to the US Constitution to BRING BACK BILL!
It never ceases to amaze me how hard core liberals will defend Mr. Clinton, even when they cannot name one significant contribution he made to our country’s success (other than tabloid news and crocodile tears).
Why do so many American simpletons thing Clinton was a genius and Bush is an idiot? Simple: Clinton was a masterful public speaker, and Bush is not. So many get caught up in Slick Willie’s speaking style and get lulled to sleep. When we see Bush speak, he stumbles over words and makes odd facial expressions.
To call someone an “idiot” because they are a poor public speaker doesn’t really say much about the accuser.
I’ve also read some comments claiming Bush has driven the American economy into the ground and lined their own pockets at the expense of the taxpayer. Hmmm, OK. So we haven’t had millions of jobs added to the economy, the dow isn’t hitting an all time high, we didn’t get the largest lump sum tax relief in history, we didn’t have our taxes lowered on the whole.
Oh, I can hear it next, the elementary “Wahh Wahh it was a tax cut for the rich”. Guess what, the often demonized “rich” earned their money and they have a right to keep it as much as I have a right to keep mine. In addition, almost 90% of all small businesses are LLCs (which are taxed at the personal rate). These are people like myself who sometimes have to scrape by simply because I want to create a business and a better world for my family. If I get rich, I don’t deserve to be punished by a 40% tax rate + a 50% capital gains tax. I took the risk, I made the sacrifices, I will have EARNED IT.
And what, pray tell, do you think the “rich” do with the money they save on taxes? Do they stuff it under a mattress? Bury it in the yard?
Um, no. They spend it.
They give it to businesses for goods and services – those businesses make money – they need more employees – more people have jobs. All the while you have sales tax, a larger base of income tax, and more people making money.
Of course, the alternative is to just raise taxes and donate to the most inefficient business in American history: The Government.
Next time you want to praise Clinton as a saint, please tell me what his lasting legacy was (you don’t need to mention he was the 2nd president to be impeached, I know all about that).
Then let me know why, after the worst attack on American soil and the worst natural disaster in our history knocking out over 80% of our oil refining capabilities for months … how are we not in a recession, let alone a depression?
Then let me know if you would rather our trained volunteer soldiers fight terrorists in the Middle East, or if you would rather us have the fight brought to us (Again). Can’t have it both ways folks. If we are passive and allow the fight to come to us, we must defend ourselves in some manner. Guess what – that will involve us losing some of our freedoms.
Perhaps it would help for people to be a little more knowledgeable with regards to recent history. How did isolationism work out for us in Europe in the 30s?
Was our involvement in a European war more “noble” than our involvement in Iraq? Are you aware that more brave Americans were cut down and killed in EIGHT HOURS on Omaha Beach on D Day than have been killed in almost three years in Iraq?
In one year alone of fighting in Europe, 60,000 American Pilots were killed!
Well, I digress. Just trying to shed a little perspective for those who let their seething hatred of Bush cloud their vision. Is he perfect? Far from it. The guy is faced with unprecedented challenges. There’s no “right” answer in Iraq but we had the choice of confronting Terrorists on their own soil or waiting for them to come here.
I suppose if we waited for them to attack us again, this would indeed give you whiners a chance to point more fingers. After all, some people have more fun trying to figure out whose fault it was rather than trying to prevent it from actually happening in the first place.
As far as “Faux” news asking tough questions of liberals … cry me a river. Even if Fox was conservatively slanted, it’s a fresh change from the same old Liberal Bias we get from basically every other media source.
o call someone an “idiot†because they are a poor public speaker doesn’t really say much about the accuser.
Mr. Pragmatist…how about calling someone an idiot because they have: 1. Sold out to big business and big oil
2. Destroyed the name “America” by throwing out the real American values and replacing them with warmongering, fear tactics, threats and intimidation, and ursupation of individual liberties
3. Invaded a sovereign nation and occupied that country at a loss of nearly 3,000 American service men and women for NO REASON
4. Brought about the biggest national debt in the history of our country while reducing taxes for the richest Americans
5. Promoted a policy of torturing people in direct violation of the Geneva Accords and thereby directly exposing our own troops to inhumane treatment
6. Insisted on writing “signing statements” for more than 700 bills he signed into law, claiming that those laws do not pertain to him.
7. Leads a party that continues to smear the names and reputations of anyone who publicly opposes their ideology. People like John Kerry, John Murtha, Max Cleland, and so many others who have been heroes on the battlefront.
8. Appoints unqualified “cronies” to positions of national importance on a whim…such as Michael Brown and Harriet Miers
9. Leads this country on a hugely expensive “quest” to capture Sadam Hussein while OBL goes free…then tells us he “spends very little thinking about” OBL
10. Did I mention he’s a poor public speaker?
Did any of you notice how many lies Clinton told in defending himself?
Clinton: “And I think it’s very interesting that all the conservative Republicans, who now say I didn’t do enough, claimed that I was too obsessed with bin Laden. All of President Bush’s neo-cons thought I was too obsessed with bin Laden.” Truth: I did a little research and I couldn’t find a single quote anywhere where a conservative (or a liberal for that matter) claimed that Clinton was obsessed with bin Ladden. What I did find where many quotes where people used the “Wag the Dog” reference that Clinton refers to in condeming his bombing of Serbia, but that has absolutely nothing to do with bin Laden. The other thing I found were NUMEROUS quotes from republican leaders supporting Clinton’s action to use a cruise missle in Afganistan.
Clinton: “They had no meetings on bin Laden for nine months after I left office. ” Truth: Richard Clarke, who Clinton kept referring to in his interview, while extremely critical of the Bush administration, does detail several meetings with the Bush administration. Well, maybe Clinton didn’t really read Clarke’s book (or maybe he is showing his penchant for “misrepresenting the truth)”. You can draw your own conclusions.
Clinton: “OK, now let’s look at all the criticisms: Black Hawk down, Somalia. There is not a living soul in the world who thought that Usama bin Laden had anything to do with Black Hawk down or was paying any attention to it or even knew Al Qaeda was a growing concern in October of ‘93.”.
Truth: I found several authors who cited knowledge of concerns about al Qaeda in 93. For example, National Security Advisor Anthony Lake briefed President Clinton in relation to the World Trade Center attack, al Qaeda and bin Laden in 1993. Also, in 1993 Rep. Bill McCollum (R., Fla.) wrote to President Clinton warning him about bin Laden and other Islamic terrorists. Richard Clarke also warned Clinton that bin Laden was planning on moving to Somalia.
Clinton: I authorized the CIA to get groups together to try to kill him (referring to bin Laden). Truth: First of all, assasination is officially illegal, so this would be big news if it were true. However, I can’t find a single source to corroborate his story. Maybe it is true, but why didn’t the 9/11 commission hear about it, and why didn’t anyone in the CIA know about it? Maybe it was in one of the documents that Sandy Berger was sneaking out of the National Archives. In 2000, Sudan offered to turn bin Laden over to the US. Clinton rejected the offer. I can’t find any evidence that Clinton is telling the truth on this one (all of the evidence seems to point to the contrary), but let’s give him the benefit of doubt here. Maybe the CIA really did have secret plans (that the CIA director had no knowlege of) to kill him.
Clinton: “I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy” Truth: Here’s what Clinton National Security Adviser Sandy Berger said “But there was no war plan that we turned over to the Bush administration during the transition. And the reports of that are just incorrect.” Which one is telling the truth? I will leave that to you to decide, but both Madeline Albright and Condi Rice have confirmed Berger’s recollection on this matter. And here is what Clinton’s favorite source Richard Clarke said “There was no plan on al-Qaida that was passed from the Clinton administration to the Bush administration.”
I could go on, but you get the idea. Clinton has a somewhat distorted historical perspective (or he has difficulty remembering the truth).
After reading some of the comments here, I am amazed at how incredibly ignorant people can be. For example, several people stated “Bush has run our economy into the ground”. Are you people alive? Do you read the news? Are you from this planet? How can you be so ignorant? The stock market is close to record highs, unemployment is down, GNP is up, consumer confidence is on the rise, all economic indicators are up. The economy is thriving. Bush’s tax cuts have driven this. Give the man some credit. As a part owner of a small business, I know what tax cuts do. They stimulate the economy. It’s given our small company the opportunity to increase our staff by 30%, increase our revenues by about 20% annually, and in the end pay MORE taxes because we made more money. Tax cuts work. This is a PROVEN successful strategy. Wake up from your Bush hating stupor. This is a great place to live. I love America!
In response to Mr. Pragmatist…
To assume that anyone who states their opinion is a hard core liberal is completely absurd. To label someone under a political classification simply because of their dissatisfaction with someone’s job performance is the typical hard core conservative response…not to address the problem, just to attempt to condemn those who question it.
Just take a moment to actually consider the fact that regarding some issues, there is no right or wrong answer, and that there are different views that help maintain checks and balances. Without those checks and balances, someone in a public office could manipulate things to create personal gain.
hmmm… I wonder if Halliburton is hiring?
I saw this interview and came out with a totally different viewpoint than most on here…. Uhh Clinton panic-ed and threw a hissy fit. Did you guys SEE the actual interview or are you just defending him and really haven’t seen this thing.
I am seriously confused at how people can think that Clinton came out the winner on that one…. I feel like this is the Twilight Zone or something.
I’m Canadian and I know my opinion here counts for little but I can’t help being continually amused by Americans and their biased party views. If you are republican, you’ll take a swat at every democrat standing, irregardless of whether he/she deserves it. Ditto for democrats when it comes to republicans, although not as vehemently. If you actually supported the people that lead you, with no regard as to party, you might succeed far more often than you do. You give the world a very divided image of yourselves.
Hi,
My name is Ingrid Kohl, I am from New Bedford, Ma.
I enjoyed reading your informative blogs and wanted to let you know that I saw this site that to me sounds like they dislike the so called conservative right sided news. . And they have a good idea to push. You should check out this page. I feel it’s a shame what the right wing media’s agenda Fox News (C. Wallace) did to President Clinton.
Here is the address of the place that speaks of the right wing media.
Was it just me or did everyone else get a blank page that loads?

Well, I hear that Clinton had his interview with Chris Wallace, which will be aired on Sunday. Apparently Wallace had promised that the first half of the interview would be about the Clinton Global Initiative, but he broke that promise and for his second question he said something along the lines of “what my viewers want to know most is why you didn’t do more about terrorism and Osama Bin Laden.”
I’ve been told Clinton responded with a massive smackdown, putting Wallace in his place with a defense of Democrats and his administration’s record.

GOP weak on National Security once again…
September 22nd, 2006 at 7:19 pmLongshot U.S.

Dr. Dobson: “Although Dick faces a big challenge in taking on Dianne Feinstein, I believe it is a battle he can win – if values voters in the Golden State will stand together!”
Oy! Dobson endorsed a LIAR. Now AtoxonAmerica what you gonna say about this?
September 22nd, 2006 at 7:23 pmWasn’t anything close to a “smackdown” hmmm queer term, but he did have a good defense.

I really hope TP has gotten back on track with the site.

September 22nd, 2006 at 7:41 pmThis is exactly what they wanted to happen by airing the Bush Propaganda! Damn!
People are so stupid sometimes.

September 22nd, 2006 at 8:38 pmTranscript of the smackdown on the thread above.
September 22nd, 2006 at 8:54 pmGod, if only Bill was running for office again. He seems to be the only one who takes no shit and gives it right back. Every Dem needs to take lessons from this guy.
He doesn’t let anything go unanswered – because if you don’t push back with these people immediately, they’ll just keep pushing until you’re off the radar.
September 22nd, 2006 at 9:09 pmClinton is head and shoulders above Chrissie Wallace.
September 22nd, 2006 at 9:51 pm
’sconset,
If Bill clinton had not gone on Fox, they would have said he was too scared and ashamed of himself to appear. Can we say….backfire?
September 22nd, 2006 at 9:59 pmsimpler yet:
if bill clinton had not gone on fox, they would not have heard him…
that’s the reason MORE dems NEED to be on faux, and the reason that they aren’t…

September 23rd, 2006 at 1:41 amCongratulations dumbass. You are nothing and you will never amount to anything.
September 23rd, 2006 at 2:33 amSome rightwing nut has put up on u-tube that Clinton was the looser in the debate….they are already trying to poo poo the smackdown Clinton gave pissie chrissie.
September 23rd, 2006 at 10:25 amWell, Clinton should take some resonsibility for not capturing or killing bin Laden. That can not be disputed. To disagree with this assertion is disingenuous. He was offered bin Laden by Sudan. Likewise, W has to take responsibility as well (although there is now some real speculation that bin Laden has been dead for a period of time now).
September 23rd, 2006 at 6:51 pmI just watched the entire interview on fox since I haven’t had time to look at the transcript so far, and I also feel that transcripts usually only get across what is said not how it is said.
September 24th, 2006 at 11:20 amwallace is just some press slacky at a news network. clinton is the patriarch of the democratic party. he didn’t look all that presidential.
September 24th, 2006 at 2:13 pmClinton – shame on him for making network movies and World News present facts that can’t be challenged.

September 24th, 2006 at 7:39 pmMe. Stop watching Fox. The next thing you know, you’ll be mindlessly turning off the Daily Show. Putting your bong down. Climbing the stairs of your parent’s house, in a zombie-like trance. Out the front door, in search of a job. Don’t do it.
September 24th, 2006 at 8:07 pmJust looking around and I came across this.
September 24th, 2006 at 8:20 pmSorry, the whole interview came accross as “I did not have sex . .
September 24th, 2006 at 9:50 pmClinton did the right thing, Clinton and Ronald Reagan are the presidents American should be proud off. God bless America !
September 25th, 2006 at 8:41 amBill got it right in his face.
September 25th, 2006 at 9:29 amGO BILL!!
September 25th, 2006 at 9:53 amKudos Bill!
September 25th, 2006 at 10:21 amFed up with stupid people i
Read Clarke’s book you will see Clinton is the tool who lost contorl over the cia and fbi.Clinton is a quitter and ran his presidency by which ever way the wind blows.
September 25th, 2006 at 11:11 amwow, i think i’m about to say something that some reasonable progs will agree with. clinton looks a lot better when he keeps himself above the fray. at one point in the interview, he uses the word ‘kill’ in regards to bin laden about 10 times in 4 sentences. read the transcript. he usually looks more composed, but in the interview it looked like he was trying to outbush bush. next time, let the talking heads do the dirty work.
September 25th, 2006 at 12:02 pmIt amazes me that all of you would generalize the American people as stupid, when you should be looking in the mirror.
September 25th, 2006 at 2:01 pmBottom line.
September 25th, 2006 at 2:05 pmDear Sir, I am age 87 and wish the Dems. would stand up to all the karl rove disinformation and lies. Please, Mr. l Clinton rally the troops. With rightous indignation, call for a stop ofname calling, character assasination, relious government invasion. Be strong, beclear and ask for a cleaner election. I respect your status as an ex pres. calls for prudence, but is it imprudent to defend the vulnerable and unsophisticated? September 25th, 2006 at 2:54 pmI’m from Europe and i am so relieved that finally your former president speakes out!
I’m proud of the Americans because I see that after some years of outrageous government the democratic forces strike back!
Hooray Bill!. I wish he could run again. I hope the dems take a lesson and learn to kick ass – it’d be about time. First 2006 and then the white house – hooray

Glass houses were broken but we don’t have to keep rolling in the glass.
Up with Bill Clinton, and bully for the re-pub’s.

September 25th, 2006 at 10:44 pmIt was a legitimate question that gave Clinton the opportunity to clear up any of the misinformation of the past weeks. In addition, he
September 26th, 2006 at 1:04 amhad the attention of the very audience that he so desperately wanted to convince of his true actions.
September 26th, 2006 at 2:43 amSince when the he** does the FBI tell the president what to do? I didn’t realise that the FBI was a governing power.
September 26th, 2006 at 9:24 pmThe point that everybody seems to miss is what Clinton cearly stated as the real problem.
September 27th, 2006 at 12:21 pmIt never ceases to amaze me how hard core liberals will defend Mr.
September 27th, 2006 at 12:43 pmAs far as “Faux” news asking tough questions of liberals … cry me a river. Even if Fox was conservatively slanted, it’s a fresh change from the same old Liberal Bias we get from basically every other media source.
Sorry if Libs can’t handle the tough questions.
September 27th, 2006 at 12:47 pmSeptember 27th, 2006 at 2:49 pm
Did any of you notice how many lies Clinton told in defending himself?
Clinton: “And I think it’s very interesting that all the conservative Republicans, who now say I didn’t do enough, claimed that I was too obsessed with bin Laden. All of President Bush’s neo-cons thought I was too obsessed with bin Laden.”
Truth: I did a little research and I couldn’t find a single quote anywhere where a conservative (or a liberal for that matter) claimed that Clinton was obsessed with bin Ladden.
Truth: Richard Clarke, who Clinton kept referring to in his interview, while extremely critical of the Bush administration, does detail several meetings with the Bush administration.
Clinton: “I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy”
Truth: Here’s what Clinton National Security Adviser Sandy Berger said “But there was no war plan that we turned over to the Bush administration during the transition.
September 27th, 2006 at 5:19 pmAfter reading some of the comments here, I am amazed at how incredibly ignorant people can be.
September 27th, 2006 at 5:56 pmThis message is for Mr. John+Davis,
Assasination is not illegal unless UBL is a head of State.

September 27th, 2006 at 8:48 pmIn response to Mr. Pragmatist…
September 28th, 2006 at 4:52 pmTo assume that anyone who states their opinion is a hard core liberal is completely absurd.
September 29th, 2006 at 10:38 pmI’m Canadian and I know my opinion here counts for little but I can’t help being continually amused by Americans and their biased party views.
October 1st, 2006 at 1:24 amHi,
My name is Ingrid Kohl, I am from New Bedford, Ma.
