That’s as shameful as one could be! I am lily white, but believe that all people deserve respect. Each of us is equal, not just under the the law but also under our Lord.

Any guesses as to how long it will take the local MSM to pick this up?

  8. ION says:

Allen was a possible candidate for president in 2008

  9. ION says:

Allen was a supporter of Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War, although he did not serve in that conflict, taking a student deferment instead.

    And another CHICKENHAWK TOO!!

What is the deal with these mouthy arrogant spiteful chickenhawks?. They all want war, call themselves ‘Patriots’, but never serve.

Cheney, as Well as Karl Rove are also of this breed of “Patriotic Chickens”

    Girly Men.

  16. jigsaw says:

did you read the second page? he went further then his speech:

After they had killed a deer, Shelton said he remembers Allen asking Lanahan where the local black residents lived. Shelton said Allen then drove the three of them to that neighborhood with the severed head of the deer. “He proceeded to take the doe’s head and stuff it into a mailbox,” Shelton said.

  17. jigsaw says:

Did you read the second page too? More than talk from Allen:

After they had killed a deer, Shelton said he remembers Allen asking Lanahan where the local black residents lived. Shelton said Allen then drove the three of them to that neighborhood with the severed head of the deer. “He proceeded to take the doe’s head and stuff it into a mailbox,” Shelton said.

    Comment by fgf (#3)

Judging by all the black-lit I’ve read, it’s the other way ’round. I appreciate that you may have been facetious, but the animosity had been real, at least prior to the 60ties.

Allen, however, is a scumbag, no matter which part — yesterday or 40 yrs back — of his past you put under the microscope. Hopefully, his one claim to “making it” as a historical footnote will be the Guiness Book of Records’ entry as being the only, ever, “white toast”

  19. Bingo! says:

If anyone saw ‘Macaca’s’ interview with Wolf Blitzer,he (Allen) threw his own mother under the bus; several times.

  20. Jay Randal says:

Allen is a very disturbed person, but most of the GOP membership in DC need to be institutionalized! Very sad the bigotry spewed by Republicans!

  21. Paul in LA says:

“He used the N-word on a regular basis back then.”

    STILL DOES!

No one ever mentions that he tied that noose he had in the office himself.

When I was a kid, I heard some racist kids talking about how they loved to do that. It’s a fantasy involving the hands, and killing macaca, in a big enough crowd where they don’t have to fight one on one.

Macaca Allen is as KINKY with his racist as ANY real coward would have to be. GFH Bush is JUST as racist, and coward.

Hey, GFH ever show you that gold bar…? Don’t forget a squirt of the Presidential hand disinfectant before and after.

  22. Lucas W. says:

These revelations are not surprising. What is surprising though, is the fact that Sen. Allen and some of the GOP still think he is a presidential hopeful. While I agree that the title of “president” does not demand the respect it once did, it is astonishing to think that someone who publicly makes racist comments (knowing that a camera is rolling) could think of themself as a potential leader of our country. And in 2008 nonetheless. I would like to at least credit the GOP with proping up a candidate that would withhold his true feelings toward minorities until a natural disaster of epic proportion strikes.

I sincerely hope that the voters are able to send a clear message in November that this type of mindset will not fly in this day and age.

  23. Craig says:

I’m no fan of Allen’s, but… this is really, totally unsurprising and un-newsworthy. This is a guy who used to have a confederate flag in his living room and a noose in his office, and we’re supposed to be surprised (or interested) that he used to say n*gger during the 70s?

  24. paul says:

Robert Byrd was a klansman and you’re still electing him.

  25. Jaded+Prole says:

Sen. Allen is a right-wing buffoon similar in many ways to Pat Buchannon but with less entertainment value. He is another ugly American corporate henchman that needs to be soundly defeated and drummed out of politics for the good of the country.

  26. west+virginia+hillbilly says:

The difference between Robert Byrd and George Allen is, Byrd became a better man, Allen still is a racist.

  27. Democrat Soldier says:

#24 – Pual, the difference is that Sen. Byrd apologized for his racist past and has gone to great lengths to make amends for his mistakes.

Ever notice that Sen. thurmond never apologized for HIS racist past? I’m sure it’s something you’re ignoring.

That’s why the “Dixie-crats” all left the Democrat party and changed to Republicans! They wanted to stay with the racist party!

  28. budpaul says:

Wouldn’t Felix have been called a freak if he didn’t use racist eptithets in the south during the time that he was growing up? Kind of a stupid thing for him to say, I think.

  29. Virginia Virginian says:

When he was Governor of this fair Commonwealth (was a misnomer that is!) there were almost daily reports of his fowl tirades within our marble halls. Many a visitor inadvertently witnessed the real
George Allen, and may I say, his colorful language melted the paint on the walls and wilted foliage. YES, the “N” word was heard and repeated, and became an accepted part of the Republican vernacular.
    No surprises here.

  30. Virginia+Virginian says:

OOPS! I believe that should be foul, although one could argue that using fowl suggest chickenhood, which fits as well. He’s a chicken to tell the truth, and to take a stand against the mean-spiritedness of his party.

  31. Marie says:

Allen is a white supremist – a racist – photos have shown that. But instead of renouncing his associations, he makes lame excuses, calls out a videographer because of his dark skin, and otherwise defends his words and actions.
Allen has sunk his own campaign – that is, unless Rove & Co. can manipulate the votes sufficiently.

  32. Zee says:

Have you noticed how Google — which is giving money to Republicans — has BURIED all these stories?

Besides the latest mainstream story, which is at the top of the page, all the links on the first page are to George Allen’s own campaign sites. I linked onto this page from Buzzflash.

Does anyone know how we could bury GOOGLE in the current relevant links to all the stories on George Allen’s racism?

  33. paul says:

I saw the exchange when allen got the question about his jewish heritage. he was not upset that he was being outed as a jew; he was upset that he had to field a question from an idiot. Try to explain to me the importance to a supposedly enlightened liberal questioner, what does it matter if allen has jewish lineage? If the candidate had african features, would she have asked if one in allen’s family had been black? I am afraid what it reveals is an undercurrent of liberal anti-sematism.

  34. Republicans Are The Fear And Smear Party says:

This is newsworthy. Voters need to know facts about a candidate so they can make an informed choice. If it isn’t newsworthy then nothing should be brought up about any candidate. Not Bush’s DUI, not Henry Hyde’s affair, not Bob Barr’s affair, etc.

  35. Orwell1984 says:

I must say that I’m not surprised. At least this type of information is coming out now. I just got the gut feeling that he was that type of guy — arrogant, entitled, elitist (even racial) and just not a genuine person. Let it be known that all of those clues, CCC (KKK) association, confederate flag, MLK incident, actually were indicative of him. Hopefully, VA will send him a message — we don’t like your kind.

  36. Jake says:

Looks like Democrats have their own swiftboaters. It’s most likely true. But will this be the Footballers For Truth?

  37. Jason+M.+Hendler says:

Race baiting didn’t help Clintonistas elect Gore or Kerry, so why are progs using their playbook? I thought you were going to be “different” and fight hard on “real issues” that matters to MOST Americans. Instead, you are back to pandering to the various special interest groups that make up your coalition – minorities, anti-war activists and environmental activists. Everyday I grow more and more dispondant over the opportunities that progs have squandered. America needs a second party, but not the “say one thing and do another thing” party the Clintons represented. Nor does America need a fringe “hate America first” coalition to challenge the Reps.

    Sigh, so much potential squandered.

  38. Dave+von+Ebers says:

Oh, please, Paul. You can defend Allen all you like, but if you honestly believe that liberals are anti-Semitic, you’re delusional.

Oh, and by the way, my family has Jewish ancestry, too. And we’ve never tried to hide it. In fact, we’re all rather proud of it.

Guess what, the only time I ever encountered anti-Semitism in my life was in college, and the people spouting this crap? You guessed it – self-professed conservatives.

Sorry to shatter your liberal stereotypes, dude, but them’s the facts.

  39. Zimzone says:

    Sigh, so much potential squandered.

    Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler

Speaking of yourself, Jason? I guess I would agree, then.
Righties in general have squandered our fiscal health, global diplomatic relations, credibiltiy, and the American persona in general.
Congratulations. You’ve been busy; too bad you’re narrowly focused Christofascist ideals aren’t shared by true Americans.
Why do you people hate the truth?

  40. Democrat Soldier says:

#33 – “I am afraid what it reveals is an undercurrent of liberal anti-sematism.”

First you claim Dems are racist, and we smacked you down with the truth that it’s the Republicans that have become home to all the “Dixie-crats” that left the Dem party for “greener pastures” in the Rep party.

Now, you’ve gotten all scared that people aren’t buying your crap so you claim that we’re anti-Semitic. Next, i’m sure you’ll try to say that Dems kick puppies and steal candy from children.

How about you check which political parties have more Jewish membership? I’ll give you a hint: it’s not the Republicans!

  41. Democrat Soldier says:

#37 – “Race baiting didn’t help Clintonistas elect Gore or Kerry, so why are progs using their playbook? Jason M.Hendler”

First off, your so-called “Clintonista’s” never used race baiting. It’s the regressives that use race to highlight how pearly white their own candidates are in comparison to the “ferin people” of the Democratic party.

Second, it’s the regressives that are running a plank of racism in an attempt to score political points. That and “scare the voters (again) with dooms-day predicitions of regressives aren’t re-elected!”

Lastly, why have you “cut & run” from my challenge for you to call for the network broadcast of the Pres. Reagan docu-drama? Why are you so anti-free-speech? Why the double standards?

  42. Democrat Soldier says:

#37 – “Nor does America need a fringe “hate America first” coalition to challenge the Reps.”

Wow! You really live in your own little fantasy world, doncha Jason?

It’s the Reps that hate America by wanting to crap on the US Constitution and to undermine our rights rather than fight terrorism.

I can see how you easily overlook this, between swigs of the kool-aide you’ve been given by your regressive cabal.

Wake up and smell the propaganda!

  43. paul says:

#38. Dave, nice try. that’s like saying the only time i was ever carjacked was by a black guy, so black people are the only ones that car jack. i know you can do better.

  44. Heynow says:

Well from his past demonstrations of his bigot attitude and a smug behavior it doesn’t suprise me. I just wonder how anyone in Virgina can take this guy seriously. I just want to see what Mr Allen has to say.

  45. MMIE says:

” I just wonder how anyone in Virgina can take this guy seriously. ”

Virgina is full of racist retards

  46. Douglas.G says:

    What a bunch of losers!

HEY! Right or wrong, that’s the way people talked 30 years ago!!!

I am NOT saying it was right, buttttt that’s the way everyone talked back then.

…and make it unbearable to be a racist…

George Allen is a privileged son of the TREASONOUS confederate south…

    …like George W. Bush…

…Condi Rice, Colin Powell and Alphonso Jackson are merely wallpaper…

  48. DJ Sky says:

MMIE _ ‘Virginia is full of racist retards’?

What a stupid thing to say. Virginia elected a Black Governor in the 80’s and is way past some admittedly difficult times for people of color in the 60’s & early 70’s. Interestingly, these difficult times were prevalent throughout the US & especially the south. I have lived in VA for 40 of my 48 years and find the people here generally to be MORE racially tolerant than the other states in which I have resided.

MMIE, if you had read the article, you’d have seen that Allen grew up in CA & came to UVa as a sophomore. I’d be willing to bet you have little or no experience living in Va. or dealing with Virginians, so please STFU. If I’m wrong & you are from Virginia, please do us a favor & leave.

    DJ
