Hasn’t AA bit the dust yet?

I don’t see where I posted any of these “same old hate, same old lies, my opinion is better than yours” statements that you speak of. To be skeptical and ask questions shouldn’t be a reason to be attacked or mocked. I came here with an open mind thinking “maybe there is some truth to this study?”. I had hoped to find a greater enlightenment, but I sadly leave empty handed having wasted my time.

If you have any interest in winning people over to your point of view, I would advise that maybe you stop making fun of them and try to reason with them. Even Rush Limbaugh could take the same advice once in a while :-)

Pick one week worth of shows from say June 2006 and have someone listen to every caller that calls in to each of those shows and chart out whether the callers agreed, disagreed, or were neutral in relation to the hosts opinion. Also chart whether the host was considerate or disrespectful in response to the callers.

That would seem a more accurate way to me to judge how the hosts handle dissenting views. It would also be nice if the study reported the average audience size of each of the hosts. I’m guessing that maybe the hosts with tougher call screening are merely looking for callers that will provide for a more entertaining (and profitable) show, whether they agree or disagree.

This study may be more a reflection of the caller’s personalities (or lack thereof) who conducted the test than of how the hosts deal with dissenting callers.

I would like to see more/better data that doesn’t rely on so limited a number of callers. The data already exists, someone just needs to go through it all and chart/analyze it.

I used to try to get a call through to AA in the morning and I was never sucessful. It was busy all the time. (I had more luck on Randi Rhodes but she doesn’t encourage a lot of calls as she prefers to have guests on.)

In the am though, while I never got through other people did (loads of them- too many imho) and plenty of them were neo-cons.

Liberals are less fearful, more accepting of dissent, and open to new ideas.

I have listened to rush, hannity, orielly, and others who manipulate American idiots, and they do a good job of it.

I find more intelligent, stimulating, genuine, important, and “reality based” discussion on “Liberal” talk shows – especially when a con calls in and makes all the listeners realize why they are Liberal, and that schools need more funding.

I can certainly appreciate your concern about the validity of this study and from your content, it’s clear that you perceive yourself to be well-versed in such matters. In post #54, you said…

Perhaps it’s a stretch on my part but I would think that a person who perceives themselves as being well-versed about anything would not only be a curious sort but would have been exposed to Research for Dummies. If there is such a book, my bet is that the NumberOne step would be Check the source. You didn’t… for had you done so, you would have known:

“We decided not to do any calls with compatible view points because the April survey showed that those callers with compatible views with the host and most of the callers were able to get through and on the air between 15-30 minutes with each of the hosts.”

This in itself doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a bad person. In fact, more than 120 posts have been made since your #54… and not one poster called you out on this. To me… that’s rather discouraging.

Study, shmudy… all one needs to do is listen. You can trash the study all you want… but you can’t change the truth — it’s so blatantly obvious.

It is no surprise that Limbaugh, Hannity, et al listeners believe they hold the majority opinion… nor is it hard to understand the intensity of their beliefs for they are well protected from hearing alternative perspectives.

I’m certain that the vast majority of their audience has never questioned the hosts’ qualifications to come to an intelligent decision, “Does this guy know what he’s talking about? Why should I pay attention to this guy?” Have you? Do a little research and you’ll come to realize they are neither worldly, well-read, or expert on anything… except perhaps, the art of brainwashing.

Limbaugh’s tagline used to be “If you don’t know what to think… I’ll tell you”. It’s reasonable to conclude he captured the audience he sought.

Please keep up your antics on lableing the Right as Hitleresque. You are a prime example of why the fence sitting Independents will vote Republican….Again!

Doesn’t this really just reinforce what most people thought anyway. I mean if Rush all of a sudden had liberals on half the time his numbers would take a hit. His listeners want to escape from the percieved liberal media, and he provides save haven.

Besides, all one has to do to kill talk radio (or turn it into those putrid C-Span call in shows) is bring back the fairness doctrine.

Obviously you know nothing of history. To eqaute the current admisistration to that of Hitler’s Nazi regime is actually very sick.

This is why so many independents vote Republican because the left resorts to that kind of demented retoric.

I grew us as a Dem, from a Dem household but as I grew older and wiser (by truly listening to both sides of the debates) I now pretty consistantly vote Republican.

This blog pretty much sums it up because you really can tell that the lefties here do not have a clue on what’s being said on “Right” radio. It’s just convienient to name call and lable the other side as evil.
