Bolton nomination “really, really dead.”

Steve Clemons says the “last pre-election loophole through which John Bolton’s confirmation might have snuck through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was at 2:15 this afternoon at a previously called ‘business meeting’ of the Committee. That meeting has been cancelled — and with it even the dimmest chance of John Bolton being confirmed as US Ambassador to the United Nations.”

Bush quit looking for Osama when he became president.

  2. Jay Randal says:

I hope this news is true, but things happen in secret in DC, so best to wait for confirmation on this event!

This is a Congress that holds votes open for hours and does all sorts of other backhanded BS so I’ll believe it when I see it.

Oh….when I first read it I thought it said “Bolton..really really dead.” Oh well.

  8. Texas+Doc says:

Hey, at least he still has that Hair Club for Men gig…doesn’t he? Please tell me he’s got something to cling to. I hear Brownie’ s back in business maybe he’s looking for people to do whatever it is that he does.

  9. carlz says:

Okay… here’s what the White House will do next…mark my words: He will be APPOINTED to a DEPUTY ambassadorship which DOES NOT require Congressional approval to become permanent. Just watch!

  10. MysteriousTraveler says:

Can’t Bolton be put forward as a nominee again?

  11. katy says:

never, EVER, count you chickens before…

  12. Jeffrey+Stewart says:

Thank goodness! It couldn’t happen to a nastier fellow.

  13. Kevin says:

OK, “Progressives” why do you hate Bolton? I’m sure because he does not agree with you 100%. Because you hate anyone that does not agree with you 100%. Hate to the point of wishing death

Oh….when I first read it I thought it said “Bolton..really really dead.” Oh well.

  14. Sharon Cox says:

Kevin you give you’re self worth far to much credit…No one here care’s about you alive or dead, we don’t know you, why would we care…Go to red state and plead you’re case…..

  15. ForTruth says:

Please let Bolton just go away, it would benefit people who cannot bear to look at him.

  16. carlz says:

Kevin: You’re obviously a neocon and a putz!

Judging someone based on what he looks like. That’s sort of like racism

  18. DieNowForPeace says:

I get such a gay feeling when looking at his “manly” shaft-wiper of a moustache…

  19. Solitaire says:

Bolton HATES the UN. Putting him in the UN and expecting some diplomacy is disrespectful and a spit in the eye to every other country that deals with the UN and the US in good faith. That’s why.

  20. The Fool says:

Personally I didn’t think the sock was such a big deal compared to when Clinton bent Wallace over a chair and ritually ass-raped him on national tv.

  21. Marie says:

Aren’t they going to create a new position for him as “deputy” something, thereby allowing him to attend the UN albeit, not as the ambassador (to be named later).

  22. delblan says:

Good. I’m glad there is no hope this guy will actually get confirmed at all. He shouldn’t have been recess appointed either, but we have no control over that! The man hates the UN and will do anything he can to dissolve it, if it were in his power.

  23. Daniel+K. says:

Kevin, having Boulton be our ambassador to the UN is like having Keith Olberman as the White House Press Secretary. Does that help you understand it better?

  24. Uncle_Ho says:

#22; not to worry, Bushitler will simply give him another recess appointment to the post.

  25. Patrick says:

#22: Bolton won’tget paid if he isn’t confirmed by the senate this time around. Here is a good read on the subject:
CRS Report- Recess Appointments: A Legal Overview

    Kevin:
John Bolton has openly stated that he wants to get rid of the UN, I don’t think that someone like that should be an UN ambassador

  26. big+papa says:

Now if we can just BURY it!
