September 26th, 2006 at 5:33 pmI just read the document, and the “Key Judgments” total 3 and 1/4 pages long. They can’t be serious that the Key Judgments of the Itelligence community can be summed up in 3 pages.
The other ridiculous this is this line:
“Should al-Zarqawi continue to evade capture and scale back attacks against Muslims, we assess he could broaden is popular appeal and present a global threat.”
Ok i understand time lag and this line could make it into the complete document but it it just plain incompetence to include it in an important document to the American people.
That line alone makes this whole document useless.
Secondly, expect our rights on the internet to be next on the “Freedom Agenda”

WASHINGTON (AP) – A declassified government intelligence report says the war in Iraq has become a “cause celebre” for Islamic extremists, breeding deep resentment of the U.S. that is likely to get worse before it gets better.
In the bleak report, released Tuesday on President Bush’s orders, the nation’s most veteran analysts conclude that despite serious damage to the leadership of al-Qaida, the threat from Islamic extremists has spread both in numbers and in geographic reach.
“If this trend continues, threats to U.S. interests at home and abroad will become more diverse, leading to increasing attacks worldwide,” the document says. “The confluence of shared purpose and dispersed actors will make it harder to find and undermine jihadist groups.”…
I never thought I’d see this day. The MSM may only be parroting something someone somewhere told them, but it’s out and in print now.

unrelated, but interesting: a caller told of listening/watching the game in N.O. on ESPN last night… he detected a difference in sounds during the pregame and coin toss – lots of cheers during bush’s pregame rah-rah, but he heard lots of boos when they went to the coin toss… he wondered if ESPN had edited the sound… something like that…

Think as if this document were being offered by a defendant in a criminal prosecution, made under his direction from his records, and the prosecution is not allowed to see the source material.
What is the credibility of the document? What’s in the other 89% that is not being released? Was any of the original language nuanced? Is a modern day Winston Smith at work, rewriting history as it happens in order to conform to the dictates of Big Brother?
Frankly, we simply don’t have enough evidence to judge the veracity of Bush’s admittedly selective release of a classified document. Those who wish to blindly follow their dictator will do so, while those who still question will continue to question.
Again, I pray that those in possession of the truth of the crimes of this Administration continue to come forth with testimony and documentary evidence.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:14 pmHere is some bad news for liberals. I’m listening to Savage and he is going over the Arbitron stats and talk radio has increased dramatically since 1998. Before 1998 only 10% of all radio listeners listened to talk radio. Now, 2006, that number has increased to 17.3%.
Why is this bad news for liberals? Because talk radio is DOMINATED by Conservatives. (ie… Air-Head America radio going bankrupt).
Let’s look at the top talk radio shows … Rush, Hannity, Savage, Boortz, Ingrahm, Gallagher, Beck, O’Reilly.
Now how funny is this, talk radio listeners almost double in the past 8 yrs, but Air-Head America Radio goes bankrupt.

In retrospect I am so glad that the Times suppressed the second sentence in this finding and thus assumed poll-position in the race to go down as the Official Laughinstock of the ‘06 Election. Here’s more:
If democratic reform efforts in Muslim majority nations progress over the next five years, political participation probably would drive a wedge between intransigent extremists and groups willing to use the political process to achieve their local objectives.
So, in essence the NIE judges that the Democrats’ proposal to leave Iraq’s democracy to its own devices would eliminate the major opportunities it sees for diminishing the jihadi movement. Nice.
In short, the NIE vindicates what President Bush has been saying all along –We must prevail in Iraq to defeat the terrorists.

On Good Morning America, Sawyer said a few minutes ago, in a disucssion of Clinton-Wallace-Rice-Clinton, that members of ‘the Clinton team’ had been asked to appear but had declined, apparently, she theorized, as part of continuing resentment over ABC’s showing ‘The Path to 9/11.’ Then she mugged for the camera and rationalized, ‘that program was the work of ABC Entertainment not ABC News.’
