of the April National Intelligence Estimate. “The Iraq conflict has become the ’cause celebre’ for jihadists, breeding a deep resentment of US involvement in the Muslim world and cultivating supporters for the global jihadist movement.” Read the whole thing HERE.
Read ‘em and weep
September 26th, 2006 at 5:17 pmKey conclusions of a report assessing the state of global terrorism are released after President Bush ordered its declassification. One assessment is Iraq is shaping a new generation of terror leaders.
I just re-read page 136 of Clarke’s book, Against All Enemies, and therein is the playbook for Al Qaeda. Bush is following the plan.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:20 pmHey TP, either the DNI quickly removed the peice, or you have a bad link, well, its now a bad link either way.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:20 pmI’m sure that this is just BS propaganda by those darn Dems who don’t know what it takes fight terrah. Or it’s 100% true.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:20 pmAmerica’s Least Wanted
What do you know a faulty page that does not work, our government at their best.
Is there not ANYTHING these incompetent RAPE – PUBLIC – CANS do right?
Where is that page of black redacted lines anyway?
September 26th, 2006 at 5:28 pmLink on NYT is also down, That DNI intelligence is shining!!!!!!
Why do any retards support a failed admin and failed policy?
Why do they hate America?
September 26th, 2006 at 5:31 pmCherry pick version.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:33 pmI just read the document, and the “Key Judgments” total 3 and 1/4 pages long. They can’t be serious that the Key Judgments of the Itelligence community can be summed up in 3 pages.
The other ridiculous this is this line:
“Should al-Zarqawi continue to evade capture and scale back attacks against Muslims, we assess he could broaden is popular appeal and present a global threat.”
Ok i understand time lag and this line could make it into the complete document but it it just plain incompetence to include it in an important document to the American people.
That line alone makes this whole document useless.
Secondly, expect our rights on the internet to be next on the “Freedom Agenda”
“We judge that groupd of all stripes will increasingly use the internet to communicate, propagandize, recruit, and obtain logistical and financial support.”
September 26th, 2006 at 5:34 pmThe site with the report is undoubtedly inundated with requests, may take awhile to begin functioning again.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:36 pmIt works, it’s just a PDF. That may be why they are having problems.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:37 pmFOUR PAGES OF A 30-PAGE REPORT…??? gimme a break…
And, yes, I DO take it personally
September 26th, 2006 at 5:38 pmSorry about the sloppy writing, it makes me look like an idiot…but I wanted to get the comment up fast.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:38 pmI’m not so sure BushCo didn’t leak this themselves. Where are all the cries, not so long ago in vogue, to ferret out the leaker? All sorts of of names were hurled at leakers, threats of judicial action and investigation were put forth. I have heard nothing of the sort this time around. Something smells…….
September 26th, 2006 at 5:40 pmi just checked, and the entire DNI site was down.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:41 pmWho was proclaiming that going into Iraq was stirring up a hornet’s nest, who’s been saying we are only fomenting more hatred toward the US. Who said the Iraq war is causing many people to take arms against us who otherwise would not have?
Now its the NIE saying it.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:43 pmCan’t wait to read the Republican spin on this…”See! it says exactly what we didn’t say it said!”
September 26th, 2006 at 5:44 pmeh, didnt really read anything that surprised me. lets see what the second one says.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:45 pmWilliam Cohen, Clinton’s (republican) Secy of Defense brilliantly clarified the fact (on Wolf Blitzer’s show just moments ago) that there was no “actionable intelligence” to work with during the month before Clinton passed the torch to Bush in order to make it even remotely feasible to go after the Taliban. ‘nuf said on that front!
September 26th, 2006 at 5:45 pmHere’s the PDF file from MSNBC.

September 26th, 2006 at 5:49 pmBush put the dems in the their own “trick bag”. lol…
Some liberal leaks part of the story hoping it will hurt the GOP and Bush just comes out and declassified it.
lmao…..
Bush to the liberals … “Do you like apples? …. How do you like them apples”.
I’m still rolling on the floor on this one.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:49 pmCNN has the PDF also, yes the entire DNI site is down.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:50 pm#16- Hahaha… and because it didn’t say exactly what we didn’t say it didn’t say, even if it said it, it didn’t really say it. It’s all so clear!!
September 26th, 2006 at 5:54 pmThree and a quarter pages of a 30 page report.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:56 pmGoing into Iraq, electing GWB, all bad ideas.
September 26th, 2006 at 5:58 pmTP YOU HAVE TO FIX THIS POST. BUSH DID NOT DECLASSIFY THE ENTIRE NIE. HE ONLY DECLASSIFIED THE KEY JUDGEMENTS. HE ONLY DECLASSIFIED FOUR PAGES OF A THIRTY PAGE DOCUMENT.
Here is the headline from RawStory.com
September 26th, 2006 at 5:59 pm
“He who controls the spice, controls the universe!”- Baron Von Harkonnen
September 26th, 2006 at 6:00 pmmuch to do about another bush cherry pick job……yawn…maybe he’ll change overnight and tell the truth…….NEVER.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:00 pmIf you are still rolling on the ground, you need to get up and walk away and hope nobody saw your dumbass.
Bush didn’t declasssify the NIE. He only declassified the Key Judgements. It is not the same thing. But, why would we expect a dumbass righty to get something so simple.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:01 pmIf any of you ever linked to my blog when I posted a NY Times Select article or clicked on any such link, you may want to read this, just in case my blog suddenly disappears like Rozius’s did.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:02 pmWhat is pathetic is the obvious brain washing and “spin” this administration stoops to when they are privy to information before the public is able to see it. It only destroys any credibility they may have left with the american people who then realize that what they’ve heard in all those speeches was simply CYA tactics and pure propaganda. Does anyone feel any safer these days?
September 26th, 2006 at 6:03 pmamericablog.blogspot.com has the report in full. Chimpy should be impeached and Condi fired immediately for their complicity in making america less safe. IMPEACH – INDICT – IMPRISON the real criminals.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:06 pmThe MSM is claiming “U.S. analysis says Iraq war is ’cause celebre’”.
WASHINGTON (AP) – A declassified government intelligence report says the war in Iraq has become a “cause celebre” for Islamic extremists, breeding deep resentment of the U.S. that is likely to get worse before it gets better.
In the bleak report, released Tuesday on President Bush’s orders, the nation’s most veteran analysts conclude that despite serious damage to the leadership of al-Qaida, the threat from Islamic extremists has spread both in numbers and in geographic reach.
“If this trend continues, threats to U.S. interests at home and abroad will become more diverse, leading to increasing attacks worldwide,” the document says. “The confluence of shared purpose and dispersed actors will make it harder to find and undermine jihadist groups.”…
I never thought I’d see this day. The MSM may only be parroting something someone somewhere told them, but it’s out and in print now.
Emperor Bush can’t defend his actions. He has no ethical, ideological, or “presidential” legs to stand on.
The ReichWing is morally bankrupt.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:06 pmjust in from the garden… listening to last 1/2 hour of randi… 2 points:
she read some of this report… said that if bush released only the best parts, the rest must be pretty awful, because this was pretty bad…
unrelated, but interesting: a caller told of listening/watching the game in N.O. on ESPN last night… he detected a difference in sounds during the pregame and coin toss – lots of cheers during bush’s pregame rah-rah, but he heard lots of boos when they went to the coin toss… he wondered if ESPN had edited the sound… something like that…
September 26th, 2006 at 6:09 pmanyone else hear this?
Think as if this document were being offered by a defendant in a criminal prosecution, made under his direction from his records, and the prosecution is not allowed to see the source material.
What is the credibility of the document? What’s in the other 89% that is not being released? Was any of the original language nuanced? Is a modern day Winston Smith at work, rewriting history as it happens in order to conform to the dictates of Big Brother?
Frankly, we simply don’t have enough evidence to judge the veracity of Bush’s admittedly selective release of a classified document. Those who wish to blindly follow their dictator will do so, while those who still question will continue to question.
Again, I pray that those in possession of the truth of the crimes of this Administration continue to come forth with testimony and documentary evidence.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:14 pmHere is some bad news for liberals. I’m listening to Savage and he is going over the Arbitron stats and talk radio has increased dramatically since 1998. Before 1998 only 10% of all radio listeners listened to talk radio. Now, 2006, that number has increased to 17.3%.
Why is this bad news for liberals? Because talk radio is DOMINATED by Conservatives. (ie… Air-Head America radio going bankrupt).
Let’s look at the top talk radio shows … Rush, Hannity, Savage, Boortz, Ingrahm, Gallagher, Beck, O’Reilly.
Now how funny is this, talk radio listeners almost double in the past 8 yrs, but Air-Head America Radio goes bankrupt.
lmoa….
September 26th, 2006 at 6:17 pm#23…ROFLMAO!!
September 26th, 2006 at 6:21 pmHere’s good news for liberals, Air America radio hasn’t gone bankrupt, and despite spewing torture, murder, racism, and hate like the Nazi propogandists they admire the same small segment of neo-nazis still listen to Conservative talk radio a@^holes as listened to them before. I guess when you represent a dying way of life as a conservative – biogtry, violence, sexism, racism, hate speech, and death you’ll always attract a small segment of brain damaged dysfunctional listeners and the lack of growth in conservative radio listeners proves that.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:23 pm# 36, I see you’re struggling with this latest ass whippin Bush is receiving. You got anything relevant, or just nonsense?
September 26th, 2006 at 6:23 pmA little off topic but, here is a report of a former CENTCOM Sergeant talking about the stand down of NORAD on 9-11. Read it here: http://infowars.net/articles/September2006/260906Chavez.htm.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:25 pmYou are comparing apples and oranges.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:28 pmRight wingers dominate the airwaves, so naturally, their numbers will be higher.
In many cases, the reichwingers are the only game in town, thanks FCC.
AA has done remarkably well in one year to encroach into conservative territory, bucking the corporate monoliths.
Do you even know that when BO started, it was four years before his show was out of the hole?
Mr. Evil….the NORAD link isn’t working but there is plenty of NORAD “war game” evidence around ….definitely worth looking into. War games taking place on 9/10 and 9/11?? Who are they kidding?
September 26th, 2006 at 6:30 pmGreg (G-Dawg),
The problem with your rant is that the media is supposed to be Liberal, therfore it can’t be dominated bby Conservatives. Either the media is Liberal or it is not Liberal. The media cannot be dominated by Conservatives if it is Liberal.
Do you even see the stupidity in what you are saying?
September 26th, 2006 at 6:39 pm#42 – try this
September 26th, 2006 at 6:43 pmhttp://infowars.net/ articles/ September2006/ 260906Chavez.htm
Acts of aggression only lead to more acts of aggression.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:55 pmI don’t know why anyone would be upset with this release (except the reich whingers whou are so oblivious that they are rofltao the idiots). This thing is scathing even in it’s edited form.
September 26th, 2006 at 7:12 pm#46 & #47 are TRAITORS !!!
I guess you morons forgot about the 20 attacks on American interest going back to 1978 by SCUMBALL MUSLIMS.
Appeasment DOES NOT work you FOOLS.
PS – The good news is that American realize that you liberals are weak on national security and that you liberals are traitors …. so you WON’T BE WINNING ANY ELECTIONS.
PSS > Oh ya, we own DIEBOLD, so you really won’t be winning any elections.
lol…
lmao….
September 26th, 2006 at 7:19 pmIt’s good that you will finally admit that you don’t like democracy.
September 26th, 2006 at 7:27 pmGreg,
Why don’t you move to North Korea and take your fascist pretenses with you? Your skewed values are profoundly anti-democratic and un-American. You don’t belong here. So beat it.
September 26th, 2006 at 7:31 pmYou liberal are the ones who sued in the courts to get electronic voting after 2000.
lol….
You stupid liberal created your own problem with electronic voting.
lmao…
I love it, that’s HYSTERICAL…..
‘
PS > Hey lilbs …. how do you like electronic voting now?
LOL….
LMAO….
September 26th, 2006 at 7:35 pmGreg,
Why do you hate America?
September 26th, 2006 at 7:39 pmI love America … I just hate liberals.
On the old scumball scale, liberals rank right next to child molestors.
Liberals must be stoped, and they are. Thanks to Fox News and people like Rush, Savage, Beck, O’Reilly, Hannity, Ingrahm, Gallager …… liberals are be exposed. Now America can see the truth about liberals.
LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER !!!
September 26th, 2006 at 7:49 pmThis assessment seems well thought out. I agree with it. Makes me feel better that everyone isn’t sounding like Bush and Cheney. If Bush or someone in power would implement solutions to the items mentioned in the report, we’d all be safer, but alas Bush has no clue.
Rather than work to prevent anti-Americanism, Bush has done an outstanding job of making Muslims afraid of American imperialism. Provided a 24×7 nonstop media advertisement showing American’s causing the deaths of Muslims in Iraq. Creating a whole country (Iraq) which is a safe haven for terrorists and perfect proving ground for terrorists.
September 26th, 2006 at 8:04 pmTalk to on November 8th, when you realize that the GOP still has control off the House & Senate.
September 26th, 2006 at 8:05 pmI get the feeling that Greg is actually putting on a parody of a right winger. But it is so hard to tell with right wingers these days.
September 26th, 2006 at 8:06 pmFor your translation pleasure:
I love the America that I have created in my tiny brain … I just hate the America that the Founding Fathers created.
I am standing on the old scumball scale, where I am currently molesting the U.S. Constitution.
I must be stoped (that’s how I spell “stupid”), and I are – thanks to Fox News and people like Rush, Savage, Beck, O’Reilly, Hannity, Ingrahm, Gallager. I am exposing myself to you. Now America can see the truth about me.
I HAVE A MENTAL DISORDER !!! Haha, hehe
September 26th, 2006 at 8:10 pmComment by Greg+(G-Dawg)
Like we’ll see these freaking sorry a$$ed right wingers on here when they lose. Drop on by, we’ll see how it goes.
September 26th, 2006 at 8:41 pmGreg+GDawg sounds like a Nazi stormtrooper to me.
September 26th, 2006 at 9:14 pmHe’s born a little out of his era.
um, the declassified document is only the “key judgments”. isn’t there more to it? wasnt the 2002 Iraq NIE 30 pages long?
September 26th, 2006 at 10:07 pmYeah Todd there is 30 pages to it, but we got the most optimistic part of it.
And it’s funny some jerk off thinks the majority of University professors, and all the people who work in social services and mental health are the ones with the mental disorder. What a dumb ass.
September 26th, 2006 at 10:54 pmI have to suppress a chuckle as I quote the key clause in the NIE for purpose of the Times’ foray into asymmetric Election ‘06 propaganda warfare:
The Iraq conflict has become the cause celebre for jihadists, breeding a deep resentment of US involvement in the Muslim world and cultivating supporters for the global jihadist movement. Should jihadists leaving Iraq perceive themselves, and be perceived, to have failed, we judge fewer fighters will be inspired to carry on the fight.
In retrospect I am so glad that the Times suppressed the second sentence in this finding and thus assumed poll-position in the race to go down as the Official Laughinstock of the ‘06 Election. Here’s more:
If democratic reform efforts in Muslim majority nations progress over the next five years, political participation probably would drive a wedge between intransigent extremists and groups willing to use the political process to achieve their local objectives.
So, in essence the NIE judges that the Democrats’ proposal to leave Iraq’s democracy to its own devices would eliminate the major opportunities it sees for diminishing the jihadi movement. Nice.
In short, the NIE vindicates what President Bush has been saying all along –We must prevail in Iraq to defeat the terrorists.
Bush is proven correct again. Thanks for calling for the NIE to be released, TP. It vindicates the president.
September 26th, 2006 at 11:07 pmBoy this thread reminds me of the scene, in the movie Grimlins, when the creatures are all at a bar going crazy > lol. Bush lover trolls have gone bonkers like the Grimlins now!
September 27th, 2006 at 12:19 amIraq War Fuels Terror, My first reaction…
NEWS ITEM: BBC Iraq war fuels terror – US report
Excuse me if I find this funny Mr. George Bush. My first reaction to this classified leak story was here they go again, as I dropped to the floor rolling in laughter and sad tears, The Bush administration lets a leak out and now Bush says I’ll need to tell Americans the rest of this sad scenario. “This illegal Iraq war we are fighting my fellow Americans is creating a celebre’ for jihadists” (What the hell did he say… a cel what? Excuse my ignorance I thought he was talking about some kind of new Mexican Salsa at first. Wait a minute…Do I see a mountains of draft cards coming in the mail? Grab your poor black and hispanic son’s n daughters, and come to Canada, Becoming a Canadian is not so bad, much better been sent to the front lines fighting Iranians Koreans and Venezuelans. The rich American mostly white Elite won’t have to worry as they’ll be your back-up in there nice shiny tanks and office jobs back home.
My first reaction to the ’cause celebre’ for jihadists is Bush is on a holy mission to inspire Americans to support his false war on terrorism (yawn). Understandable how this comes at a time when his support is spinning out of control and his Republicans are loosing ground against those dam lefty democrats . Excuse me for a minute, I need to clear my throat “Liar liar pants on fire Mr Bush”, and “LIAR LIAR Capitalistic Conservative media” Ahem , cough , there thats better now… Look Mr Bush, What has happened on American soil since 911, nothing right, thanks to the great Americans who are protecting the country. Your going to loose this war on terrorism once more folks realize your creating it. I think its too late to create a WAG THE DOG type terror attack on America to get your ratings back up. Yeah I think 9/11 is beginning to look like an inside job, (what you have not read my entire blog? just like the growing number of Americans and most of the world we all are starting to see through your agenda and corrupt lies. Hows that saying of yours go , you can fool some of the people um er some people some er um, never mind. You can still really save face George and your Republican party from going down in November, You can start by stopping this insane war in the Middle East and begin to seek real diplomacy with your Enemies. Start by admitting you were wrong to kill innocent people and pay to have there homes and infrastructure re-built with money from your rich pals who profited from this Illegal war. Then get on to the real threats to Americans and humanity such as the threats of global warming, Aids, Hunger and homelessness. Boy I’d support you if you did this. Good luck Mr. President and God save us from the Imperialists
September 27th, 2006 at 7:01 amCan it be that Democrats have finally had enough?
On Good Morning America, Sawyer said a few minutes ago, in a disucssion of Clinton-Wallace-Rice-Clinton, that members of ‘the Clinton team’ had been asked to appear but had declined, apparently, she theorized, as part of continuing resentment over ABC’s showing ‘The Path to 9/11.’ Then she mugged for the camera and rationalized, ‘that program was the work of ABC Entertainment not ABC News.’
Cheers for the Clinton team. Now if it will act similarly toward Fox.
