The United States Of Torture

“The United States is committed to the world-wide elimination of torture,” George W. Bush explained in a June 2003 speech , “and we are leading this fight by example.”
I absolutely am coming to hate these people which saddens and angers me more. However I should be careful ( NOT) in what I say:
From Glenn Greenwald article - Unclaimed Territory - today:
“It really is odd and disturbing, as well as potentially quite dangerous, that the declassified NIE on the “Trends on Global Terrorism” focuses exclusively on Islamic terrorists — except for the last section which conspicuously identifies “leftist” groups which use the Internet as a serious terrorist threat (h/t Sysprog). Odder still, it makes no mention at all of right-wing, anti-government movements (such as, say, the one that spawned Timothy McVeigh, an actual terrorist).”
Interesting. Last night (Tuesday) on one of either MSNBC or CNN an interviewed former interrogator stated that one rule he gave to new recruits was that if the treatment they were giving seemed like hazing then it was over the line. He explained this by saying that hazing is meant to make someone quit, and torture has a similar purpose, to make someone give up.
Sorry that I can’t recall which show or network it was. I tend to bounce around between the two from about 6pm-8p, at which point I watch Countdown.
How did this jerk manage to get elected to congress? He is bankrupt of ideas and yet he is on C-Span every chance he gets monopolizing time and saying absolutely nothing. What a windbag.
He is such a wussy–can you imagine if he were taken as a POW–I doubt he would call it being hazed.
would he be willing to expose himselfto the same treatment as at ABU GREIB ? Perhaps , he would learn the difference between hazing and torture . Surely someone ould bring flowers at his funeral for his courage at experiencing sementics .
That is why Iowa needs to elect Joyce Schulte to take Mr. King’s place. He enjoys the attention but what is he really doing for Iowa other than giving people material for jokes?! Really, Iowa deserves better.
So, breaches of the Geneva Convention are just acts of hazing.
I guess “serious” breaches of the Geneva Convention can be chalked up to, well, boys will be boys, won’t they? Wanna see what this firecracker will do?
And to think, King represents a district once represented by Tom Harkin, now US Senator from Iowa. When Harkin represented the district Ames was included but Sioux City has now replaced Ames, making it more conservative. King should be considered an embarrassment by Iowans but because he affixes an “R” to his name it doen’t seem to matter. Make not mistake though, King is an outright nut job of the first order. He and Tom Tancredo, from Colorado, are cut from the same cloth.
Interesting that he would use the word “hazing” since George Bush was on the hazing committee of his fraternity where he inflicted torture on new members.
If you showed that man pictures of a gay orgy with everyone oiled up and in a human pyramid (voluntarily), he’d say, “That’s disgusting! How dare you show me that depraved, godless, sinful trash?!”
When he sees the Abu Ghraib pictures he says, “Not so bad. It’s like a fraternity hazing.”
When they speak like idiots, they are simply using “flowery speech,” and everyone says,”well that’s understandable.”
When a Dem says something stupid, they are pilloried in the public square of newscasts.
Oh my God, who the hell elected these brain dead people? You got the Rep from CO telling the nation that gay marriage is the most important issue this nation faces and now this guy.
Ok, I’m going to answer my own question. The Republican party put all their money behind these doorknobs…I mean candidates and people who were told to believe that liberals are scary had no choice but to elect unqualified, incompetent, narrow minded, lap dogs.

September 27th, 2006 at 1:28 pmCronies know hazing! So after the “hazing” do the prisoners get to join a super special elite club? And no, “not dying” is not a club.
September 27th, 2006 at 1:32 pmThis clown is the biggest windbag in the congress. He is just full of —-!!
September 27th, 2006 at 1:33 pmHow do people like him even get elected. His constituents must be morons.

September 27th, 2006 at 1:45 pmPerhaps if he would feel differently if he or his loved ones were tortured.

September 27th, 2006 at 1:54 pmSomeone should HAZE his family. Just flowery saying.
September 27th, 2006 at 2:04 pm“I sometimes use flowery language to make a point.”
So do I. This guy is a prick.

17. I wonder how many pyramids ole W was in?
September 27th, 2006 at 2:33 pmAnd to think that I was part of group of my fellow fraternity brothers who got hazing in any form prohibited from our fraternity - back in 1974!
Neocon Neanderthal!!
September 27th, 2006 at 2:37 pmIf he was trying to make the point that he’s a flaming idiot, it worked!
September 27th, 2006 at 3:46 pmSounds like King has been getting his talking points from Rush Limpdick. If I recall, he said the same thing.

I’m from Iowa (not this turd’s district) and I apologize to the world for this piece of inhumanity.
