HUD Spokeswoman Admits Making Stuff Up To Spin Alphonso Jackson Controversy»

dustee1.jpg Housing and Urban Development (HUD) spokeswoman Dustee Tucker repeatedly misled the press about HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson’s April 28 speech in Dallas, where he admitted canceling a government contract with a business because the CEO was critical of President Bush.

In the HUD Inspector General’s (IG) report, which has not been made publicly available, Tucker admits to misleading the press by making up statements, as well as stating things as “fact” that were actually assumptions. Some examples from the report reviewed by ThinkProgress:

– On May 2 or May 3, the Dallas Business Journal (DBJ) called Tucker and inquired whether the contractor incident in Jackson’s story actually happened. Tucker replied, “I can’t speak to a hypothetical, you know. You’re speaking about a verbal agreement.” But according to p. 17 of the HUD report, when asked if she had “made up” the “concept of a verbal agreement,” Tucker acknowledged she had: “Yes. I probably did when I responded to her.”

– On May 9, Tucker told the DBJ that Jackson’s story was “not a true story. It’s a made-up story.” But Tucker didn’t know it was made up. In her testimony to investigators (p. 20), “Tucker acknowledged that, in her meeting with JACKSON, JACKSON ‘never said the entire thing is made up.’ Tucker further acknowledged, ‘that was my assumption.’

– On May 9, Tucker told the Dallas Morning News that the contractor who criticized Bush in Jackson’s story “was aggressive and combative.” But according to the HUD report (p. 18), Tucker later admitted that “she did not know if there was, in fact, a real person who was ‘aggressive and combative,’ but ‘assumed’ there was.”

Tucker’s actions don’t seem out of the ordinary in HUD communciations department. Cathy MacFarlane, Assistant Secretary in the Office of Public Affairs, also testified, “And with all I have to do, I am not really interested in finding out the facts. I don’t have enough time to get into contracting facts” (p. 23).

Digg It!

What a good little Repug that Dustee is. She’ll definately go far in the GOP. They sure do love them morally deficient liars.

There you have it, folks. The motto of the Bush Administration.

Can this Republican Admin. tell to truth about anything? There is so much corruption in this admin. How did this every happen?

  6. Clint Says:

So why aren’t these liars facing charges? Is it legal for government employees to lie in order to cover thier tracks? I think not… so why no prosecution? Dustee Tucker needs to go to jail. Is she still on the government payroll?

  7. Klaus Says:

    Yeah, srsly.

  8. TerrytheTurtle Says:

So there is life after cheerleading….that’s wonderful. Maybe someday a cheerleader could become President!

  9. Exley Says:

    She’s adorable!

  10. Stating+the+Obvious Says:

    Jmiles,
You’re a simpleton idiot who wouldn’t know corruption if it came in the form of a frying pan that subsequently smacked you squarely on your face.

Physical appearance and attributes is all that you are capable of seeing. If you were any more shallow you would be inverted. I look at that picture and see something so vile, so despicable, and so ugly that it makes me ill. You see it and get aroused. You are a pathetic excuse for a human being.

    #7,
If you like pug-nosed liars in training bras.

  12. ForTruth Says:

    dlet,

I can’t bring myself to find her attractive either for some reason, usually it doesn’t matter, but today, with this one, I don’t like her. In reading some Wonkette stuff on her, it seems she gets hassled enough by weirdos for being “attractive” so I guess she is already getting hers. Ok next.

  13. ForTruth Says:

Exley is one of the weirdos stalking her at Starbucks and Mexican Restaurants.

  14. Solitaire Says:

Nobody in our government seems to have any time for “facts”.

Here’s a fact, Jack. Malfeasance in office is a crime, punishable by a real factual stint in jail. Think there will be time for facts then?

  15. Curlew Says:

Perhaps with luck we’ll find that Dustee owns a blue dress.

  35. Stating+the+Obvious Says:

    Jmiles,
You find government corruption funny? So, you must find the murdering of innocent Iraqis a real rib-tickler. Or the legalization of torture and the shredding of the Constitution and all of the ideals that it represented that just occurred yesterday to be freakin’ hilarious!

And then there’s that other bill about to be passed (already gone through the House of (mis)Representatives) legalizing warrant-less wiretaps and other such heinous actions against the rights of individuals. You must think that is just priceless comedic material.

Gosh yes, you must just be laughing your ass off right now. I am forced to wonder, though, will you be appalled when your family is taken away and murdered or will it just be cause for another little chuckle? Or will you just be fixated on the tits of the female USS agent who takes them away?

No difference between a wooded and a non-wooded Exley.

  40. SpudgeBoy Says:

The fact that Exley doesn’t care that this chick is a bold face liar and only cares about how she looks shows the depth of his thinking capacity.

  41. Prudesh Says:

    Hey, Stating-the-Obvious,

What probably makes you ill about the photo above is in background and is the image of the American Flag. That would be the symbol of the greatest country in the world that defends its honor by destroying those who stand in opposition to it. Don’t worry; in 2008, you’ll probably get some weak, politically-flexible, morally-androgenous ‘leader’ in the White House who will proceed to allow our country to come under further attack by holding the hands of those who most wish to destroy us. Being the most powerful country in the world once meant something to Americans. Now, it means that we have to bend to the will of the mainstream media and the soft-hearted blowhards that refuse to admit that they have ever looked poorly upon anyone. In reality, if it weren’t for those who stood up and fought America’s greatest threat - the internal masses who thinks it’s better to be the little guy than protected by the big guy - everyone would suffer. But, you know that because the “Evil Bush” has provided you with a safe place to type your words of disgust and dissidence from. God Bless Democrats; they remind me what it was like to be young and stupid.

  42. Exley Says:

#43, You have to admit, Spudge…She’s a cutie!

  43. SpudgeBoy Says:

    Exley,

I already tried to post this, so I will try again.

While she may be cute, she is a lying sack of crap.

Once you grow up, you will realize that there is more to a person than their looks.

  44. Republicans are the fear and smear party Says:

#44…Being the most powerful country in the world still means something to every American. It’s how we use or abuse that power that matters to some of us.

  45. Exley Says:

Once you grow up, you will realize that there is more to a person than their looks.

    I hate to hear THAT!

  46. SpudgeBoy Says:

    I hate to hear THAT!

  48. Exley Says:

#50 “So, you just want to remain a shallow person who doesn’t have anything other than looks to judge a person?”

Not at all. I have no idea what you look like and I have already judged you.

    Dustee is a hottie, though!

  49. Republicans are the fear and smear party Says:

Exlax, isn’t there a “Rate My Republican Bimbo Body” web site you can go to?

  50. dlet Says:

That would be the symbol of the greatest country in the world that defends its honor by destroying those who stand in opposition to it.
    Comment by Prudesh

Wow, is that what America is all about. Destroying other countries that oppose our way of thinking. That’s a long list their buddy. I always thought the US was a more respectable country. You sure you live the US and not 1940’s Germany? You sound like Conan: Crush your enemies, drive them before you and hear the lamentations of their women.

  51. KRank Says:

“So, you just want to remain a shallow person who doesn’t have anything other than looks to judge a person? Figures, you are a right wing hack. You’re all the same.”

I think this is unfair to Exley. He obviously takes other things into account when he judges people. For instance, corrupt Republican: Good.

    See? He’s not THAT shallow.

  52. Jmiles Says:

#37, Stating+the+Obvious, please calm the f#@k down. Jesus. I made a joke, that does NOT mean that I think corruption or Iraq is funny. you take yourself WAY too seriously. Not only that I can admire a woman’s looks while despising her character. That’s why I have an organ devoted to each one of those functions. Cool out, take a zanex and think this through. Do you want to battle me, who probably shares a lot of your political views, or the repubs?

  53. Stating+the+Obvious Says:

    Prudesh,
Beings that I am ex-military, you have no credence in questioning my loyalties since you have not served your country. And beings that you are cowardly by nature, I understand why you would not dare to attempt to question my “patriotism” to my face. It would be wise for you to listen for a moment while I educate you on some matters that your post reveals you to be severely lacking knowledge in.

The United States of America has NEVER “defended its honor by destroying those who stand in opposition to it.” First off, such an approach is not honorable. Secondly, the greatness of the United States of America has been its stand on principles. Freedom, liberty, and the rights of the individual (all individuals, not just Americans) are the principles that the United States used to stand for. Only dictatorships and oppressive regimes attempt to impose their will upon others by use of force, and besides being a morally reprehensible approach it is also a foolish one in that such an approach has ALWAYS failed. You see, boy, that is why the bush administration is failing in Iraq, not the democrats. Anyone with a semblance of intelligence knows this. Only red-neck morons think otherwise.

America’s “greatest threat” has never been, or never will be its internal masses. Besides such a thought being in stark contradiction to what this country was founded on and stands for, it is also the most asinine statement I have ever seen. Only a complete and total idiot would make such a statement.

Lastly, it is the Constitution of the United States of America which guarantees me my rights to free speech. Though, it does not “give” that right to me as even our forefathers and the Constitution recognize that I was, and every human is, born with such inalienable rights. I realize that this concept is completely foreign to you as your comment suggesting that bush gave me such rights reveals a gap in understanding and knowledge that would make the Grand Canyon look like a pothole.

So, boy, before you come to challenge men of conscience and honor, first gain some education and credibility and then second, you’ll want to wait until you have a pair.

  54. Stating+the+Obvious Says:

    Jmiles,
There are appropriate times, and appropriate subject matters for jokes. I do not see either of those here.

You say I’m too serious. I disagree. I see the very fabric of this nation being ripped to shreds and I cannot fathom a more serious earthly situation. Perhaps we do have similar views on some or many issues, but that’s not the point. At what point are you going to get serious? When it’s too late?

Joking around is all well and good, but not when the future of this nation is in such extreme danger. Let’s extinguish the fire with diligence and seriousness before we start joking about smoke signals.

If you do not see it that way, then so be it.

  55. Jmiles Says:

#57, STO, I agree with almost everything you said, I think our only disagreement is a mater of timing. I am seriously disturbed about the state of our nation, and tell that to anyone who will listen. I’m searching now for a protest to join this weekend over the legalization of torture. I do realize the extent of the threat to our freedoms and values. I also have grown up being the class clown and at times cannot resist going for the laugh. Perhaps I wasn’t paid enough attention to as a child. Regardless, know that I share your concern for the state of our nation.

  56. Exley Says:

    #57, 58….StO, Jmiles…

You two are really bringing this party down!

Does this mean we are done talking about how hot Dustee is????

  57. Solitaire Says:

Stating the Obvious has already laid out … well, the obvious, but I have to add that PRUDESH wrote some of the most ridiculous assertions I have heard in a long time. The one that sent me laughing (sorry, had to laugh) was “But, you know that because the “Evil Bush” has provided you with a safe place to type your words of disgust and dissidence from. “… wow. What exactly is that, P? Did Bush give me the internet, or did he invent freedom of speech? Or perhaps you would like to credit Bush with writing the Constitution itself? My “safe place” is my home in the US, where my rights have been guaranteed by the blood of patriots that fought and died to protect the Constitution. Those same rights have been severely attacked by the bloody bullies of BushCo. Bush provides me with nothing but a continueing supply of disgust and shame for a government gone wild.

  58. Jmiles Says:

#59 For the record. I still think she’s hot. And that name Dustee makes me think she’s probably got some stripping experience. She might as well be named Chastity or Heaven

  59. Exley Says:

    #61,

I am only sorry that I haven’t run into her at any of my local Starbucks!

  60. Stating+the+Obvious Says:

To paraphrase from, of all things, Star Wars ep. III:

“So this is the sound of the end of liberty – thunderous laughter.”

And finally, I know now that Exley is not a true republican. It seems, and there is unfortunately voluminous supporting evidence, that true republican sexual desires are directed only at the pre-pubescent. And I don’t say that as a joke.

  61. barfly Says:

  63. Exley Says:

“So this is how democracy ends. To thunderous applause.”

  64. Jmiles Says:

Does a target “love” an investigative journalist?

    Paul,

You and I are in agreement on this one thing — it’s not a story.

    1. Dustee is a stripper name.
    2. A bra would do wonders for those weird bumps.
    3. Best of all — if she has children, she’ll be able to call herself MOTHER TUCKER!

Sorry for the disrespect, but it ain’t a story anyway. :)

It is a good thing she is hot…

  78. David O. Says:

    “hot”- like “ann” Coulter?
she should be prosecuted but since this Administration doesn’t seem to do that for lying………………..

  79. Prudesh Says:

    Stating-the-obvious,

First and foremost, thank you for your rant of “how the world works.” I would like to share that I am not a boy, have served in the military myself and believe that America needs to defend itself in order to avoid another Sept. 11, 2001. I do not think that President Bush has provided America with it’s safety since its inception (that means birth, there, Big Guy). I do think, however, that he and BushCo. (as you lovingly refer to them) have kept all of us safe since that fateful day.

I am not “red-neck” as you put it. I hold degrees from three U.S. colleges. I have my Ph.D from Harvard and can speak five languages. Six if I consider “jack-ass” which I how I believe I was able to translate your words. My anger and disgust from dissenters is that they put shame on our country during a time of war. War is a time when you stand up and defend your country and its leaders. By providing greater dissent, you defend the rights of those that oppose us - i.e. Islamofascists and those who wish to destroy what our forefathers (that means leaders) have built. We are a nation of strength, power and wealth. We have military bases around the world and are constantly called upon to defend the weak. It is not our fault, or our leaders’ faults, that we are targeted. We are targeted because we instill the rights of choice and freedom whereever we go. Sometimes, in able to create a better world, you have to destroy those that hurt you, like we did with the Nazis in World World II.

When we bow down to others and worry about how we treat them, we place them on a pedestal upon which they have not placed us. In addition to my U.S. military service and my education, I have also lived abroad. For several months, I called France home. While in that country, I saw the anti-Semitism that is rampant throughout that country, a country we’ve defended for over half a century. They, however, couldn’t stand behind us when we stood before the ridiculousness that is the United Nations and asked for support.

The United Nations and it’s executives, I mean delegates, long forgot that they call upon us to be the world’s police and that we always assist. I believe that if America were to shut off its food assistance programs, cease our funding to foreign countries and ignore the atrocities that occur worldwide for one month, the entire world would realize that we are the world power and that we do not have to bow before anyone.

And, I’d like to add that being Republican, or being Christian, are not negative things. Even the devil can cite scripture for his own purpose and the above postings indicate that. I am so disgusted that it is wrong to be an American and have faith in God and be proud of our national sense of pride. While we may not hold everyone’s hands, we surely place food in everyones’ mouths.

  80. Jmiles Says:

So Prudesh, according to your logic, we should all shut up and not decent until “the war on terror/islamofacism/global islamic extremism” is over? But it’s never going to be over. So dissent should be dead in this country? Thanks but no thanks!

  81. Jmiles Says:

decent = dissent. don’t know how that came out!

  82. Truthdetector Says:

Seeing the posts from the leftists, I shudder to think what will become of the US if they ever get back in power. The leftists would have us believe that Bush is the real enemy. Yes, let’s ignore those who want to see us ALL dead and focus on Bush. Let’s attack every effort his admin has made to prevent future attacks. Let’s call him every name in the book, let’s compare him to Hitler, let’s compare us troops to nazis, let’s call him a liar. You see, the left doesn’t care about protecting america, they just want power and will do and say anything to win.

They have no evidence to back up any of the outrageous lies they have told about Bush from the cocaine use to lying about WMDs. The democrats voted to go to war along with republicans, they saw the same Intel Bush did, no investigation has uncovered any proof that intel was made up. Now they claim they were lied to, mislead, that Bush lied to get us into an unnecessary war. Democrats were warning about Saddams WMDs as late as 2002. The media puts sick racist allegations against George Allan on page 1 but ignore statements from his dem opponent basically admitting he used the N word. They put that Dan Rather fake memo on page one yet they ignore statements from former Iraqi generals who say the weapons were taken to Syria. Where is that story NYT? where is that story LAT?

The democrats have done nothing for 6 years accept sling mud and they want the people to believe that they have a plan to protect america? They must think the american people are stupid.
