When did Jack Abramoff find out about the Iraq war?

“It seems that the President was very sad to have to come out negatively regarding Israel, but that they needed to mollify the Arabs for the upcoming war on Iraq,” Abramoff wrote in a March 2002 e-mail, a year before the United States went to war in Iraq.

  3. Station+Agent says:

This Abramoff guy needs to get a movie made about him before the election.

  4. RUCerious says:

Didn’t the congressional approval to go to war require the prezidunce to certify that war would only be the LAST alternative?
    Yes.
    Was he lying then?
    Yes.
    Should he be impeached?
    YES.

  5. unitynow says:

sounds impeachable to me! Impeach now!

  6. james+k.+sayre says:

Treason on 9-11 led directly to the illegal criminal Bush war on the Iraqi people.

more illegal leaks by Karl Rove.

  10. chimpeach says:

Thanks for posting about this. I read the Abramoff quote earlier but didn’t know what the timeframe was or how long before the war he was actually saying it.

Funny that Rove would confide in such a casual acquaintance about something like that. He didn’t even begin leaking it to the press for another couple of months, did he?

It’s very nearly the Smoking Gun that’s needed for people to face reality… actually, it’s the smoke from the gun. Follow it back to the gun, and the crime scene is complete.

Does Abramoff know the start date for the upcoming Iran war???

  14. kerryinalaska says:

I have to wonder just what the 30 or so percent of jerks that support this administration find to support. Pedophiles, thieves, liars, treasonous acts, christ, just what planet do some people live on?
This email just makes plainer what 60% of us in this country already know, namely that GWBush and his enablers are constant liars, criminal in their behavior, deranged in their ways, and never taking responsibility for their actions.

this camel can hold as much straw as we give it. every time a new report comes out, we get all excited, like we can finally impeach this guy. but we’re the only ones who notice it. it will be forgotten within a week. most americans are too busy trying to get through the day, feed the kids, and make this month’s minimum payments. with the struggling middle class, we can hardly have a true democracy.

    will this change come november?

  16. Texas+Juice says:

GOP Kool-aid drinkers won’t care. Just do not give anything away or change the status quo and they look the other way. Even when Republicans generals say Iraq is a disaster they don’t beleive it. Let the chimp in chief speak though and they hang on to every word. What is wrong with America??? If I see one more W’04 sticker here in Texas I am pulling the veichle over and asking what are they smoking. Mr. Foley, turn the page…

You are assuming, of course, that they are getting this information in the first place. Those that do probably have their hands over their ears, singing “la-la-la-la-la-I-can’t-hear-you…”

  19. Josh Peters says:

Have you ever noticed how politicians never use the word “lie”. Even with the Democrats and Bush, they saythings like: “mislead”, “fixed the intelligence”, and “mis-spoke”. It’s all bullshit, he lied. Why doesn’t anyone in Congress call him a liar! That’s what he is… a liar.

I have a friend in Iraq who posted the following:

“Why I love the Army 1114 HMMWV (Humvee):

Not only does it come with free blood stains from its previous owner… It also comes with all kinds of left over unused M2 machine gun rounds hidden all inside the interior (I like to think of it as an Easter egg hunt.) The A/C is out f*cking standing! When it is >140 degrees in full body armor…it never wants to come on! But my favorite feature of the vehicle is that it loves to catch on fire all by itself! Not only do I have to clean up used fire extinguisher jizz but i also have to replace a new part on the vehicle somwhere because the Army mechanics say its all “operator level.” Thank you AM General…you complete me”

  22. Marie says:

How much more are we going to hear about who knew what about the war and when before the people face the fact that Bush&Co lied to us, and led us into an illegal and immoral war.
There are so many smoking guns in the White House, the smell is traveling across the country.

  23. JesusChrist_GodOfWar says:

How much does it take before the ReichWingNuts wake up, realize they’ve duped us all, clean up their own mess, begin investigations into who knew when and when, and begin impeachment proceedings?

I guess we’ll have to put pressure on the Democrats to do the right things for us.

well well, cc… have’t seen you in these parts for a while… at least that name… so you’re back, and the latest tactic, since justifying and excusing won’t work, is to divide and disuade the progs and libs of voting democratic and returning the congress to it’s rightful owners -
    the people…

best give it up… redeem yourself…

A lie is a lie, right? You wish. The truth is that people don’t care much about lies when they involve personal sexual affairs. Lies which result in war, death, torture and suffering…. that’s another thing altogether.

  26. theswan says:

It’s obvious that the intelligence was fixed around the policy. There was and still is plenty of money to be made and Jack knew that.

Hey CC. What’s your take of why President Clinton is still more popular than junior? All the polls show Bubba would walk all up and down junior’s ass in a heads-up election! Funny as all hell, huh?

  28. Marie says:

What is cc talking about — he doesn’t have his facts straight.
Ken Starr proved after 7 years of persecution (oops, I mean investigation) that there was nothing illegal about anything Clinton did in the past.
As far as Lewinsky, Clinton finally did admit that he lied about the affair with a consenting adult – if that is grounds for impeachment, about 50% of Americans would be guilty.
If cc wants to start comparing lies, I think he’s on the wrong side.
There is no doubt now what many of us believed before — the reason Bush and Cheney would not testify under oath or individually — they had to keep their stories straight and didn’t want to be prosecuted for perjury when everything starts bubbling to the surface as it has for a long time now.

  29. Republicans Are The Fear And Smear Party says:

#29…this makes sense. Rove and Bush would want their buddies in on war profiteering. If they all invested in Halliburton, etc., a full year before the “war” then it wouldn’t look suspicious.

  30. Keith H. says:

It’s gettin’ so deep now, junior’s gaggin’.
Look for the public meltdown soon.

  31. Concerned+Conservative says:

Yes Katy, I’ve been away for a while… not sure yet whether I’m glad to be back or not…

Joe, my guess on why Clinton is more popular than Bush is that he’s better looking and is smoother. The majority of people are pretty shallow when picking pols and most people just “like” Clinton. I’ve met him (on the beach) and he is a very engaging guy. I still would never vote for him but I’d have a beer with him.

  32. Bluedog49 says:

Concerned Conservative: “my guess on why Clinton is more popular than Bush is that he’s better looking and is smoother.”

Gosh, what penetrating analysis! Let me add that one reason people might prefer Clinton is that we had 8 years of prosperity and peace as opposed to 6 years of chaos, economic despair, illegal war, torture and incompetence. That MIGHT have something to do with the numbers — you know, one guy was a success and the other is a failure.

  33. Concerned+Conservative says:

Bluedog49: “Let me add that one reason people might prefer Clinton is that we had 8 years of prosperity and peace as opposed to 6 years of chaos, economic despair, illegal war, torture and incompetence.”

    Let me break this down…

“8 years of prosperity and peace” — prosperity? why, it was so good you could call it the “decade of greed” — peace? tell that to the aspirin factory in the Sudan!

“6 years of chaos, economic despair, torture and incompetence” yes, 9/11 was a little chaotic and definitely hurt the economy but the economy is cranking right now… torture? yes, for all the moonbats here at TP who hate chimpy bushitler… incomptetence? you’re entitled to your opinion but you need a little more data to convince me…

  34. Navy+Vet says:

You can’t impeach the prez because he hasn’t lied under oath like Clinton did. The republicans sure set him up on that one.

  35. Paul in LA says:

“You can’t impeach the prez because he hasn’t lied under oath like Clinton did.” –Navy+Vet

Ten minutes in any court in the land. That’s all it would take to indict ‘the prez’ on at least 30 major federal crimes.

We can’t impeach because the pederasts in the Rapepublican Congress are covering up for their own.

    So STFU.

  36. Bluedog49 says:

Concerned Conservative:”incomptetence? you’re entitled to your opinion but you need a little more data to convince me… ”

You need “more data” to be convinced that this administration is incompetent???!!! Hey, that’s a good one.

  37. JPark says:

‘“8 years of prosperity and peace” — prosperity? why, it was so good you could call it the “decade of greed” — peace? tell that to the aspirin factory in the Sudan!’

You COULD call it the decade of greed? Well, I guess you could. You could also call it the decade of mystical pink unicorns. But I wouldn’t do it if you want to stay in the closet. Hmm, I guess your point went over my head as what you said made no sense to me.

‘“6 years of chaos, economic despair, torture and incompetence” yes, 9/11 was a little chaotic and definitely hurt the economy but the economy is cranking right now… torture? yes, for all the moonbats here at TP who hate chimpy bushitler… incomptetence? you’re entitled to your opinion but you need a little more data to convince me…’

Yeah, the economy is really cranking despite what those liberals at the Wall Street Journal tell you!! Wait, did you just say you need a little more data to convince you? Name one time when you brought actual data onto this site? Once?

  38. JPark says:

#40 I think he was speaking of the maneuverings of Starr getting Clinton to the ‘right’ venue where they could have even a long-shot at impeachment.
