House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) this morning: “I believe I talked to the Speaker and he told me it had been taken care of,” said Boehner. “And, and, and my position is it’s in his corner, it’s his responsibility. The Clerk of the House who runs the page program, the Page Board–all report to the Speaker. And I believe it had been dealt with.”
I’d take odds that artery-clogged Denny strokes out over this.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:45 amNothing like a shark feeding frenzy where they start attacking each other. This is getting entertaining.
So it looks like Boehner wants to be Speaker now, huh?
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:45 amAs Dana Millbank said last night, if they’re throwing Hastert under the bus, that bus better have some pretty good clearance.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:46 amSo Hastert got stuck by a Boehner….these Repugs just can’t stop themselves.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:50 amits good that boehner is acknowledging they knew of the problem.
If Boehner knew of this, why didnt he ask any follow ups about what hastert did to take care of it?
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:50 amSpeaker Boehner has a nice ring to it, Congressman Boehner thinks.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:50 am“…Hastert held a meeting [yesterday] “to review ways to protect pages†but did not include Rep. Dale Kildee (D-MI), the Democratic member of the three-person House Page Board…”
that meeting was about getting their story straight, damage control…
shimkus is responsible for this scandal also…
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:51 amtypical…shirking responsibility then passing it on to the next person and the next person until it’s forgotten about…so they can get back to corruption as usual.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:52 amWow! The Republican buck gets passed so fast it’s just a blur.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:54 amHere they go: eating their own!
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:55 amThey’re all “complicit” because they knew they had a predator in their midst and chose politics over the safety of our children.
Let the “feeding frenzy” begin! I suspect that the GOP is so self-loathing right now that the smoke won’t clear from their infighting until until sometime next year.
Let the games begin!
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:57 amOne of these days, the people will realize where “the buck should stop” and impeach him.
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:57 am…that bus better have some pretty good clearance.
Comment by Seitz — October 3, 2006 @ 11:46 am
i saw that… cracked me up… he didn’t miss a beat – “if he fits!”
October 3rd, 2006 at 11:59 amwhen olberman asked if hastert would be thrown under the bus…
Americans are Sick of Sleaze in DC!
3rd of October 2006
by Jay Randal
The Massive corruption in Washington, DC, is bad enough for the nation, but the sexual sleaze makes it even worse and infuriates entire American citizenry!
Why should anybody in the United States send their sons or daughters to DC to be abused by politicians?
Who in their right mind would want a Congressman , like Mark Foley, to sexually prey upon their children?
Nobody can stomach a sexual predator stalking their underage teenage sons, nor soliciting them for nasty raunchy sex on the Internet, nor abused by a pervert!
Where is the outrage in the halls of Congress to stop the exploitation of Pages being used like prostitutes?
When can Americans be fully assured of all pederasts being removed from House of Representatives/Senate?
Americans demand accountability from our elected officials in government, and punishment for creeps who break the law, or violate our sacred trust too!
( Jay Randal, political activist and writer in Stone Mountain, Georgia.)
PS: Rep. Hastert and Rep. Boehner must be thrown under the bus!
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:02 pmWow!
That’s the party of “Personal accountability” for you.
Oh…what? Oh! I See. That only applies to poor black women looking for financial assistance.
So when a neo-con is caught with his hand in the “page-jar”, it’s the alcohol’s fault and his imaginary friend jesus “redeems” him.
Rome is burning.
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:03 pmdid anyone see lott on the daily show? …
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:04 pmhe repeated the “overly friendly” line… i thought jon let him off way too easy…
This is a strategy of blaming it all on Hastert. He’s gone.
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:07 pmHere comes the bus…..and Hastert had better be on it!
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:19 pmLott had better watch his P’s and Q’s….”overly friendly” – trivializing sexual predation of a minor is hardly what one would deem “overly friendly”….it’s downright criminal and involves jail time. Perhaps Lott needs to trivialize this for his own purposes????
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:21 pmHastert will be under this first bus….Reynolds will catch the second one…..Shimkus, the third….and Boehner will hail the taxi! They’re all going down the tubes together.
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:21 pm“Boehner throws Hastert under the bus.”
Boehner is just as guilty of the culture of corruption and coverup as Hastert is, he is Majority leader. They, the GOP, conspired to cover up the actions of a pedophile. They just rammed a law legalizing torture, detention without due process and even assasination. They all have to go. The GOP is evil incarnate.
And any Democrate that voted for the insane torture and detention act has to go as well. They are also part of the problem.
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:31 pmTurkey si gonna be mad…theyve made quite an investment in Hastert.rt
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:36 pmHastert is the bus.
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:38 pmBoehner’s the driver.
Reynold’s just a passenger.
The three of them resigning would be a good start, but they all want to hold onto the absolute power’ they’be come to relish.
Boehner is much more concerned about his tan & golf agenda than do to anything constructive.
Hastert’s a fat ass Neocon who wants to be part of the parade. Denny, how’s it feel to be the parade?
Reynolds, go surround yourself with children if you must, but have an adult supervisor with…we all know you can’t trust Neocrooks!
HONK! HONK!
Watch the neo-scums stomp all over each other and slash each others throats as they scurry for the nonexistent lifeboats in a frantic, last ditch effort to escape the sinking ship known as the “SS Grand Old Party” after hitting the ice berg named “Foley”.
And as with ALL ice bergs, there was A LOT more under the surface than the eye could see!
October 3rd, 2006 at 1:04 pmWell, Der Leader has taken time out of his busy schedule stomping for the midterms to comment. President Bush says he is “shocked and dismayed” at the disclosure of an e-mail scandal involving teenage congressional pages, and that he supports House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s call for an investigation, The Associated Press.
Heckuva job Denny.
October 3rd, 2006 at 1:44 pmThe boehner is running for political cover. Now, does that surprise anyone? If they loose too many members we might be able to bring impeachment charges up before the elections.
October 3rd, 2006 at 1:54 pmThey have begun to eat themselves.
October 3rd, 2006 at 2:22 pmAs Craig Crawford said last night,
when asked if the Republians are prepared to throw Hastert under the bus,
Crawford replied,
“if he’ll fit.”
Mike
October 3rd, 2006 at 2:29 pmHe is Speaker of the house, or Scroundrel Of The House. This is the DO Nothing Congress, that is drunk with power…. and nothing else matters.
October 3rd, 2006 at 2:31 pmRubber Stamp Champions… Hastert must go first, then the polls will settle the rest…
Oh man…I love it when Republicans eat their own…This will do them in big time.
