Human Events Online reports, “According to an administration source who requested anonymity, if the Senate does not vote on Bolton before his current recess appointment expires December 18, the President will again name Bolton to the post during Congress’ post-election recess.”

So what else is new. Stalin appoints his flunky back to a position where he can do neo- con work.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:17 pmBush is a piece of work, a shithead, a punk, and a loser.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:18 pmThe rules of our government state that any individual who is given a SECOND recess appointment will not recieve payment for that post.
Bush is sending Bolton to represent the US at the United Nations but he can’t pay him from our taxes.
Zero is all Bolton is worth. The damage he has done and will do to the United States is priceless.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:19 pmAgain?
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:20 pmjohnnyr. i believe you meant to say “I am a piece of work, etc, etc, etc.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:21 pmWhat else is Bush to do when congress is to lazy to do there job?
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:23 pmbut this time, he will not be paid by the taxpayers…
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:23 pmlook into that one… who will pay him to stay at the UN?…
So Bush doesn’t care that the guy can’t be confirmed by the Congress - he will just appoint him anyway. The boy-king has ruled.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:24 pmWouldn’t you hope Bolton wouldn’t take the appointment since he is very unpopular and unwanted - but that’s not Bolton’s character.
He’s an in-your-face guy — just like Bush.
#5 Paul
You are absolutely right. Johnnyr did mean to say you are a shithead, a punk, and a loser. And I will confirm his judgement.

October 3rd, 2006 at 5:27 pmBeat me to it, Clyde lmao
Repugs screamed “FOUL” when Clinton made recess appointments and claimed it was sleazy.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:28 pmI thought he couldn’t renominate the guy for a second time? What’d I miss?
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:31 pmAmerica’s Least Wanted
Does he have ANY respect for how the American Goverment is suppose to work?
Or anyones oppinions?
Oh yea i forgot, someone please me one thing Bush has done successfully in his ENTIRE life. (Other than being born privilaged, and winning elections despite who he is).
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:32 pmBolton is bad news.
I detest that man.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:33 pmGee what a surprise.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:33 pm#12
He can renominate him or reappoint him, but he can’t be paid. Which doesnt matter since we KNOW Bolton doesn’t make a majority of his money from his salary.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:34 pmAnd Bush seems to think he can do anything he wants.
Did he grow up spoiled in a priviledged environment by any chance?
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:34 pm#6 What else is the Senate supposed to do when Caligula nominates his horse for high office…?
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:35 pm#11
When Bush does it, it is “FOWL” as in chickenshit.
I know DUHbya! He used to come over to our house and eat chicken, shit, I know DUHbya.
Punctuate as you like.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:36 pmYou are right, the Republican lead Congress, both House and Senate, are a do nothing COngress.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:38 pmI thought he couldn’t renominate the guy for a second time? What’d I miss?
Comment by budpaul
He can, but anyone appointed in a 2nd recess apointment is not paid, he has to work for free. If they pay him at all, they are breaking the law.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:38 pm#13 elliot
You give the asshole too much credit. He had nothing to do with his birth. No wonder the Rethugs are opposed to abortion as DUHbya would have been the first retroactive abortion in history! Nor with his stolen elections. The thefts were made in spite of him, not because of him.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:40 pmDayum, Spudge…

It’s a REPUBLICAN MAJORITY…YOU IDIOT!!!

Twenty Dollars to a glass of warm pee he gets paid AND a raise.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:42 pmI’m sure they’ll find a way to pay him. These guys know no bounds.

We should be ashamed of ourselves. We just picked on poor pickled Paul and made him so upset he had to go home to Momma.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:46 pmCrap. I brought this up a month ago…..It doesn’t matter rather something is illegal or not with bull shit bush, he just get’s his butt buddies to make a new law and cram it through his house and senate….Bull shit is the dictator.
Still nothing on the miserable bill’s this bunch of rat basterds passed last week….Look’s like there never will be……Nothing on the Iraq war or other new’s either…Sad times……Peace….Blessings

Naw, he will be back. He is just doing an IM with Foley to find out what to say next.
October 3rd, 2006 at 5:53 pmNot again?!?!?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:04 pmSo Bush is letting us all know that He has decided Mr. Bolton is the best choice for our UN representative. He ignores the will of congress (twice) and will force feed this choice to us once again.
So He’s the decider, he’s also wrong. History will splay this administration wide open and all who displayed a Big Ol’ W on their car will hand their heads in shame, they’ll tell there kids they voted for Kerry and pray nightly for God to judge them kindly when their time comes.
The year 2010 TP should take a poll on who voted for Kerry. Betcha 70% of those polled will say Kerry. You might even get 60% now.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:07 pmI hate posts where their, there and/or they’re are misused. Isn’t the United States supposed to be 90% literate?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:12 pm#31
You obviously are new to America. Literacy does not lend intelligence. Sure, I’ll give you 90%. But only about 30% use that ability to actually educate themselves.

Since the boy king feels he’s above the law, I see an executive order being transcribed as I’m typing. Between XOs and signing statements, the laws of the country are but a minor pothole to be circumvented…..
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:24 pmRoger I almost agree with you there. Where is Congress on this Bolton issue?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:26 pm#31
Walt: 90% are literate: (1) the other 10% are neo-con trolls. (2) They just can’t read or write. (3) They lied when polled. Your choice.
Actually it is all Bill Gates’ (Got you there, you thought I was going to say Bill Clinton but they’re both the same in their philosophies) fault because he didn’t teach grammar to his Spell Checker.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:30 pmWalt, I forgot (4) All of the above.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:32 pmCongress was too busy waiting for Foley to “finish up”.
There’s so much mileage left in this baby, it’s a new Mac truck, and she’s barely warmed up.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:36 pminteresting, but I’m willing to bet they have a PAC setup that he would get paid thru. Cons.
Go clear some brush on crawford ranch would be my guess.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:39 pmpeterh - these guys make me feel like I’m living in the Twilight Zone I swear!
One thing though - when THEY aren’t in power anymore, all those new ways of doing things will be available for the next guys.
I’m sure that Republicans will love it when the Democrats play by the new rule book eh?
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:40 pmDubya is such an arrogant prick. <*SHEESH*> If he can’t get his nominee past a Republican Congress two times running, he’s just going to do what he damn well pleases anyway…..
Cheers,
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:41 pmWho else would George appoint? Nobody wants the job. Nobody wants to work with these idiots. ‘Republicans’ are toast.
I hate it even more when their is spelled thier.
George Bush wouldn’t know which word is which.
Glad to see that Congress is working hard at getting the business of government and governing accomplished.
The US Congress is racked with scandal. One after another, thier (just to get your goat) is no end in sight.
Who do you blame? Not the voters, they tried to elect a President, but were rooked out of the choice they had.
‘Republicans’ have done it to themselves. This will spell their doom. They are not going to be able to recover from what they have wrought.
They’re on a hellbound train. Good
They’re (just to get your goat some more) is no saving them.

October 3rd, 2006 at 6:52 pmKrauthammer is member of PNAC…he’s a nut. Religion and wars are perfect tools to control the ignorant masses. Iran was in the line of fire before 9/11 by the neocons, they are just war pimping so they can get their hard ons.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:59 pm9/11 changed nothing for these people, expect that it was a needed event.
Since we all know that Bush is going to do whatever he wants and most likely totally get away with it….
What do you guys think of Ban Ki-moon to replace Kofi Annan? The South Korean Foreign Minister appears poised to “grab the big brass ring” as one web site put it.
All I know about him is that he went to Harvard, says he’s for more transparency, is all about reform and that he wants to resolve the North Korea issue. That all sounds fine on the surface but these days one must dig deeper than that!
Critics see Ban as essentially a U.S. candidate
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:00 pmand “do not expect him to stand up to Washington”.
I can’t wait. George is going for the gold. If he does this his is assured that the democrats will not win the house or senate (in his spaced out mind that is). It’s the decider. Good show LITTLE guy, “w”.

October 3rd, 2006 at 7:06 pmIn the link it says Bolton could be given a new job, new title, and thus paid anew.
EmbarrASSador to the United Nations.
Yeah, what’s with Congress anyway. If the minority party disapproves of a nomination, how dare they filibuster and block the dictator’s err, President’s choice. I mean, get real, the Republicans NEVER filibustered ANY of Clinton’s nominations when they were the minority party, did they?
As for who would want the job? I would. There is much to be healed.

I just think that the influence of pro-Israeli interests is one of the major factors driving US policy and it doesn’t seem to be discussed as much as, IMO, it warrants. Obviously due to people’s fears of being labeled anti-Semitic. I think that it would be good to open a discussion to this aspect of Bolton’s involvement with the UN as I think that it’s extremely relevant to the situation.
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:47 pmI hereby make a citizen’s nomination!
Briseadh Na Faire would be an excellent nominee for the new UN Secretary-General!
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:51 pmIf Bush gives Bolton another job at the U.N. it will be a demotion - an underambassadorship. He will then simply leave the post of ambassador empty. What do either Bush or Bolton have to lose? Bolton never had any credibility with any other delegations at the U.N. anyway.
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:52 pm[cue looney tunes music]
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:53 pmBut Briseadh na Faire would also be an excellent US Ambassador to the UN as well. Would bring good karma.
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:54 pmI really don’t think armageddonists are a good thing for a UN seat[s] do you guys?
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:54 pmIn his work in the Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush administrations, Bolton has become known as the right’s most effective and strident opponent of the United Nations and all forms of global governance and international law not controlled by the U.S. government.

October 3rd, 2006 at 8:12 pmat what point does the media and punditocracy pick up the fact that the bush regime has total distain for the American system of government?

#55 & #58 - I second both nominations.
October 3rd, 2006 at 8:58 pm“Bush plans Bolton recess appointment.”

October 3rd, 2006 at 9:06 pm#68, that’s good, edgy, but good. My bet is that AIPAC will pick up Bolton’s expenses….

October 3rd, 2006 at 9:07 pmHunter S. Thompson said shortly before his death:
“It is genuinely incredible. The U.S. Treasury is empty, we are losing that stupid, fraudulent chickencrap War in Iraq, and every country in the world except a handful of Corrupt Brits despises us. We are losers, and that is the one unforgivable sin in America…Beyond that, we have lost the respect of the world and lost two disastrous wars in three years. Afghanistan is lost, Iraq is a permanent war Zone, our national Economy is crashing all around us, the Pentagon’s “war strategy” has failed miserably, nobody has any money to spend, and our once-mighty U.S. America is paralyzed by Mutinies in Iraq and even Fort Bragg…The American nation is in the worst condition I can remember in my lifetime, and our prospects for the immediate future are even worse. I am surprised and embarrassed to be a part of the first American generation to leave the country in far worse shape than it was when we first came into it. Our highway system is crumbling, our police are dishonest, our children are poor, our vaunted Social Security, once the envy of the world, has been looted and neglected and destroyed by the same gang of ignorant greed-crazed bastards who brought us Vietnam, Afghanistan, the disastrous Gaza Strip and ignominious defeat all over the world. The Stock Market will never come back, our Armies will never again be No. 1, and our children will drink filthy water for the rest of our lives…Big Darkness Come Soon.”
All while the Democrats just let it happen.
October 3rd, 2006 at 9:11 pmThanks for the suicidally undertoned note from Hunter S. Thompson. Or was it really suicide?
October 3rd, 2006 at 10:16 pmJesse Helms, who was chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said, “John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon.â€
So that means Jesse and John are both Jews?
Wow….

October 3rd, 2006 at 10:32 pmHunter S. Thompson was right but sadly took the easy way out. It was his time to go, in his mind. Now it is up to us to do something about it. We can’t let these LIARS dupe the country again. We may have to take to the streets and rip them from power. I’m in…

October 4th, 2006 at 12:37 amJesus, can anyone not credit John Bolton for working pro-bono. Such dedication to the effort of tearing down the very foundations of human decency and civilization should never be left to go unrecognized!
October 4th, 2006 at 12:57 am“Jesus, can anyone not credit John Bolton for working pro-bono. Such dedication to the effort of tearing down the very foundations of human decency and civilization should never be left to go unrecognized!”
He wouldn’t be working pro-bono if he took one of two options that includes a salary. Both involve taking a lower salary for a different position but being named the acting ambassador.
If he worked pro-bono it wouldn’t necessarily hurt him (if he stayed ‘ambassador’). That is, such self denial would pay off once Bush’s term ended - he’d get a lucractive ‘consulting’ job of some kind. Staying around for a few years could mean a few hundred thousand more a year as a ‘consultant’.
October 4th, 2006 at 1:10 am“He can renominate him or reappoint him, but he can’t be paid. Which doesnt matter since we KNOW Bolton doesn’t make a majority of his money from his salary.”
He apparently CAN BE PAID. It depends on HIS TITLE. If he remains the ‘ambassador’ the UN he will not be paid. If, however, bush names him to one of two other posts (which pay less) and then makes him ‘acting ambassador’ he will be paid and be defacto ambassador to the UN.
That’s part of the ’system’ that needs to be changed. One recess apointment is enough.
October 4th, 2006 at 1:12 amThis is just another PowerPlay by our Theo-Fascist Messianic Psycho-path!
October 4th, 2006 at 3:24 amAs I understand the “rules” governing a SECOND recess appointment, Bolton would not receive pay for this second stint. And, as the rules for Government workers clearly spell out, “no one may work for free in the Government”.
Therefore, Mr. Bolton may be precluded from even being named a second time by Mr. Bush. However, anyone who has watched this Imperial Theocracy of a Presidency knows that they never bother following precedent, rules or the law in any event.
Perhaps Mr. Bush can just Knight Mr. Bolton and Sir John will become our Royal Pain-in-the-tuchus to the UN. How appropriate.
October 4th, 2006 at 5:54 amMaureen Dowd squarely lays the blame for Iraq squarely where it belongs: At Henry Kissinger’s feet.
October 4th, 2006 at 6:44 amBolton ‘COULD” get paid if Dubya changes the title of the job description.
It’s a different job, so no a repeat appointment.
And that prick wouldn’t be above doing that.
October 4th, 2006 at 6:55 amHas any one noticed Bush is using our military to fight a Jewish holy war?
October 4th, 2006 at 7:09 amMartha Tamesl
It is no Jewish Holy War. It is an Islamic one. Prince Bandar is Bush’s source of foreign policy, which is kind of frightening when you think about it.
October 4th, 2006 at 7:25 amBolton is Bush’s lap dog. I hope the New Secretary General grills Bolton.
Bolton is no diplomat and just another loyal member of the Bush Crime Family.
October 4th, 2006 at 7:46 amBolton is Bush’s loyal member of the Bush Crime Family, and Bolton is no diplomat just another mob member.
October 4th, 2006 at 7:48 amWe (Americans) seem to amuse ourselves with the premise that we almost live in a dictatorship. I see a leader who does virtually everything he wants to do. Is the decider really the dictator? Some government: for the people, by the people……who’s the fool here?
October 4th, 2006 at 7:48 amIts a done deal. The pay means nothing as he will just get a “consultant position” with some Big Corp after he does their work in the UN. The offer is certanly on the table right now.
October 4th, 2006 at 8:27 amHe will be paid VERY WELL!!!
Can’t wait until the next election.
Hope to see a big change.
October 4th, 2006 at 9:01 amWe all hope to see a big change in November
October 4th, 2006 at 9:01 amA. Douglas - please see my comment #46.
The South Korean who appears to be about to get the nod as the new UN Secretary-General is thought of as a U.S. candidate and do expect him to stand up to Washington.
So I don’t see him going toe-to-toe with Bolton anytime soon!
Perhaps Bolton’s gang want to use him to do something about North Korea by proxy, so to speak. Then if it doesn’t work they can just blame the U.N.?
October 4th, 2006 at 9:46 amSo Bolton has to work for no paycheck. Interesting. Wonder where he will get the money to buy enough fish to stuff his walrus face.
October 4th, 2006 at 9:48 amGWBushit likes that mustache, it tickles him in all the right places, especially when Butnut is on his knees. It appears to me that the whitehouse is a carnal knowledge bin.
October 4th, 2006 at 9:51 amsorry - that should have read that Mr. Ban Ki-moon , the South Korean expected to take over for Mr. Kofi Annan, is NOT expected to stand up to Washington to stand up to Washington. Which, of course, is not a bad thing in and of itself.
October 4th, 2006 at 10:57 amI just wish he would stand up to Bolton!
October 4th, 2006 at 10:58 amIf Bush could recess appoint the same person multiple times, that would
October 14th, 2006 at 7:32 ambe how he would make all of his appointments. How is this possible?
