The South Korean who appears to be about to get the nod as the new UN Secretary-General is thought of as a U.S. candidate and do expect him to stand up to Washington.

So I don’t see him going toe-to-toe with Bolton anytime soon!

Perhaps Bolton’s gang want to use him to do something about North Korea by proxy, so to speak. Then if it doesn’t work they can just blame the U.N.?

Hope to see a big change.

Bolton is no diplomat and just another loyal member of the Bush Crime Family.

It is no Jewish Holy War. It is an Islamic one. Prince Bandar is Bush’s source of foreign policy, which is kind of frightening when you think about it.

It’s a different job, so no a repeat appointment.

And that prick wouldn’t be above doing that.

Therefore, Mr. Bolton may be precluded from even being named a second time by Mr. Bush. However, anyone who has watched this Imperial Theocracy of a Presidency knows that they never bother following precedent, rules or the law in any event.

Perhaps Mr. Bush can just Knight Mr. Bolton and Sir John will become our Royal Pain-in-the-tuchus to the UN. How appropriate.

He apparently CAN BE PAID. It depends on HIS TITLE. If he remains the ‘ambassador’ the UN he will not be paid. If, however, bush names him to one of two other posts (which pay less) and then makes him ‘acting ambassador’ he will be paid and be defacto ambassador to the UN.

That’s part of the ’system’ that needs to be changed. One recess apointment is enough.

He wouldn’t be working pro-bono if he took one of two options that includes a salary. Both involve taking a lower salary for a different position but being named the acting ambassador.

If he worked pro-bono it wouldn’t necessarily hurt him (if he stayed ‘ambassador’). That is, such self denial would pay off once Bush’s term ended – he’d get a lucractive ‘consulting’ job of some kind. Staying around for a few years could mean a few hundred thousand more a year as a ‘consultant’.
