ABC debunks claim that Foley scandal was election trick.

ABC’s Brian Ross “dismissed suggestions by some Republicans that the news was disseminated as part of a smear campaign against Mr. Foley,” the New York Times reports. “I hate to give up sources, but to the extent that I know the political parties of any of the people who helped us, it would be the same party,” Mr. Ross said, referring to Republicans.

  3. Democrat Soldier says:

#1 – You’re right. The Republican party has been the party of “no peronlal responsibility” for years, they’ve just been very good a crafting the message to make it SEEM as if they took personal responsibility.

They’ve blamed Fmr. Pres. Clinton for every mistake Pres. Bush made over the past 6.5 years, they’ve blamed the Democrats for their bloated budgets and bigger federal government, and they blame the 16 year old victim for Rep. Foley’s sexual IM’s and e-mails.

Being Republican means you never have to take responsibility for your failures or actions.

I wonder who the Republicans are going to blame for losing seats this coming November? Santa Clause?!?!

Who do they always blame when they lose? The “liberal” media.

I continue to pray that those who know of the crimes of this Administration come forward with testimony and evidence of wrongdoing. May a “katrina” of truth inundate Washington D.C.

    Thank you, Brian.
Slannity is already trying to infuse suspicion that this all a Democrat
conceived election ploy. ‘Party of Values’ sure doesn’t value morals much, eh? Hasturd is still trying to cover his fat ass, but with an ass that wide, he can’t find a cover big enough. He knew about this all along, & now is trying to backslide for cover. What a leader!
Hasturd, Boner & Reynolds wrap should just accept the fact they got caught with their pants down and resign.
It’s the honorable thing to do, men…which is most likely why you won’t.

  7. Sharon Cox says:

This entire Foley mess is just that….First this nut bag is going to create a picture he is gay so he can escape the realy dreadful ramafication’s of being what he truly is, a pedaphile….The closet drunk part alway’s works so they will use that as well and last but not least bring out the abuse he suposidly endured as a teen……..Give us all a break for crap sake….Just because it happened to him does not absolve guilt for doing this to kid’s…Enough already…Forget the Dem’s did it, that’s not working either…I can’t believe they are allowing him to be in a resort instead of arrested and in jail…….Blessings

    Damned liberal media…

  9. Mary+Poplins says:

Off Topic Was Tom Delay House Speaker before Hastert? If so when was this? He probably knew about this. I know he resigned in June but he seem to know every thing that was going on in the Republican party.

  10. MyRightWing says:

Yes, Mary (#9), the ‘Exterminator’ was in Boehner’s seat before he
    resigned in disgrace.
Since his extermination, he’s proudly boasting from K St. & suggesting who should win ‘Dance w/the Stars’.
Maybe when his trial begins America will get a chance to watch him dance his way to jail.

  11. RealScientist says:

#9 Delay was House Majority Leader. He has never been Speaker.

  12. Sharon Cox says:

I asked that very thing in another thread the other day…..Where was Delay in this mess and who else knew or know’s what’s going on…..I personaly think they should stop the page program untill all this evil is investigted and handled….Stop the evil and madness, send the kid’s home…

Stop all the madness..End the war’s and bring the troop’s home..Blessings

  13. PAL says:

Since Republican’s conspiracy theory that the Democrats were behind the leak to ABC News was just proven false, then how about this one. Perhaps the Republicans threw the MSM a bone with the Foley scandal to throw them off the recently released book by Bob Woodward. I just thought I’d enterain that theory for a few minutes. Okay, back to reality.

  14. Mary+Poplins says:

Thanks for the infor about Delayl He may of resigned but they should question this man. He knows what went on.

  15. Tim says:

Initially, I also thought the timing was pre-planned. Then I rememered: The Dems didn’t have the info. Therefore it had to be an inside job.

  16. RUCerious says:

Anybody else here suspect our butt buddy Rep Boner? He stands the most to gain from seeing Hastert et al shot out of their seats…

  17. RealScientist says:

Here is the simple truth: Foley is a serial stalker of boys, a sexual deviant. Evidently Foley has stalked dozens of pages over the years, aggressively and persistently. Odds are high that he has had physical contact with underage boys, and will soon face criminal charges. Evidently Republicans in Congress have known about it for 11 years, but out of partisan political expediency chose to sweep it under the rug.

There is no way to spin this story. Republicans should expect to take a beating on it. They certainly deserve it, given their own “take no prisoners” style of partisan politics. But instead of actually confronting the sickness and hypocrisy, the sick, sick, sick, sick, sick GOP is pulling out the stops to normalize Foley’s behavior: He’s gay. He was molested himself. It was the alchohol. Bill Clinton had an affair while in office. Twenty three years ago some Democrat that no one remembers had sex with a page. The whole thing is an election-season stunt by the Democrats. The pages are stalkers. But it won’t work. The MSM, particularly Fox News, have made the lurid and disgusting their stock in trade. They use the lurid and disgusting to distract their ignorant, prurient base from the criminal actions of the GOP and the Bush administration. But in this story the thing that fixates their audience is precisely the thing they most want to distract their audience away from. No matter how hard they try to spin it, the story will always leave their audience with a creepy, crawly feeling of disgust.

This story provides a perfect barometer of how low the Republicans are willing to sink. With all other stories, be it lying about the war, the foolish tax cuts and deficit spending, the disastrous Medicare legislation, the incompetence of the Katrina response, there is always some kind of traction for the rationalizers. Not so with this story. I expect that there will be very little tolerance for spinning this story, except among the sociopathic GOP operatives and the self-chosen propagandists that support them.

  18. Gristléd Bünching says:

Has Foley scheduled his Oprah humiliation yet?

  19. marv says:

#17 is so right… Foley would not have resigned immediately if this was not going to get much, much worse.

and the Republicans will score no points on the timing of this thing, because when is the right time to stop a pedophile, before or after the election?

  20. Solitaire says:

Republicans cannot accept responsibility for their own behavior, never have been able to step up to the plate. They think that resigning immediately and rushing off to rehab is “accepting responsibility?” No. Not. Investigating Foley when this came to their attention was their responsibility, which they did not do. Protecting the pages was their responsibility, which they did not do. Being honest when the scandal broke was their responsibility, which they did not do. What’s their defense? Why, it’s everybody’s fault but their own. They look like school children.

  21. Todd says:

Bush should pardon him, just like Clinton pardoned Mel Reynolds. You remember Mel Reynolds, the guy who was convicted and imprisoned for having sex with a 16 year-old intern.

Looks like Democrats aren’t very high on taking responsibility for their actions either.

  22. jersey girl says:

I just heard on Al Franken’s radio show that Faux News has been labeling Foley as (D-FL) when they show his picture! Now that’s beyond shameless!

  24. Fascism+American+Style says:

Todd, that’s all you’ve got? That’s all you’ve ever got. Cons answer to everything is “I know I am but what are you?” Or “It’s the gays, the Clinton’s, the liberals fault!!” You sound like a petulent child. Is Clinton responsible for this too? Because we liberals are so tolerant and diverse? How disgraceful to be tolerant huh? To tolerate other people’s lifestyle. Every President pardons criminals ass hat. While you’re at it, why don’t you bring up the Senator Kennedy “bridge” thing too. Or some other irrelevant historical perspective, shall I list all of the crooks that the previous 6 Presidents pardoned on their way out? This is about a criminal cover up today, not last decade or 30 years ago. It lends more credence to the fact that this administration and this house are not transparent and it needs to change.

  25. tm says:

What the liberal media is not revealing is Foley’s party affiliation. He’s not a rpublican – he’s a DEMOCRAT. Doesn’t anyone here watch Fox News?

Everyone at Fox propaganda (like everyone in the criminal Bushite junta) should be prosecuted, convicted then impoverished and imprisoned (if not hanged)…

    Please God…

    …make it so…

  28. Illinois Dem says:

You stupid, stupid poster! The Foley son-of-a-bitch is a Republican! Do some damn research before posting. By the way, Fox News is not considered a credible source so don’t ever cite it, fool!

  29. JPark says:

Todd loves pedophiles. That can be the only reason for his post.

  30. JPark says:

#26 I think that was sarcasm. Fox had (Foley-D) three times during a segment this week.

  31. JPark says:

    # I am pretty sure that was a slam on Fox, because they ID’d him as a Dem 3 times.
