Al Qaeda Letter Says Prolonging The Iraq War ‘Is In Our Interest’

A newly translated letter from al-Qaeda’s leadership to their Iraq organization shows the Bush administration’s “stay the course” Iraq strategy is exactly what al Qaeda wants:

The most important thing is that you continue in your jihad in Iraq, and that you be patient and forbearing, even in weakness, and even with fewer operations; even if each day had half of the number of current daily operations, that is not a problem, or even less than that. So, do not be hasty. The most important thing is that the jihad continues with steadfastness and firm rooting, and that it grows in terms of supporters, strength, clarity of justification, and visible proof each day. Indeed, prolonging the war is in our interest, with God’s permission.

This summer, Bush administration officials repeatedly justified their Iraq policy by pointing to al Qaeda propaganda. One example of many:

DAN BARTLETT: So, it doesn’t matter what we say. We should be taking the – the words of the enemy seriously. They think [Iraq is] the fight of the war on terror, so, we must as well. [8/31/06]

Will the White House change its tune now that al Qaeda has endorsed “stay the course”?

But then again they may figure we are on to them so when they say they want us to stay the course they really want us to believe we will believe that they don’t really believe that we believe that they… Oh to hell with it, let’s go chase a Page.”

Reminds me of that old song: “I was looking back to see if you were looking back to see if I was looking back to see of you were looking back at me.” But come November the whole rotten bunch will be looking back to see just what the hell hit them. And it won’t be a terrist!

Bush was for perpetual war before he wasn’t

President Bush and his party have lost the political initiative at a critical point in the midterm election campaign, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
The survey shows that by 41%-18%, Americans say recent news developments have made them less favorable toward continued Republican control of Congress; by 34%-23% they called themselves more favorably inclined toward Democratic control. It also shows a decline in Mr. Bush’s job approval rating to 39% from 42%

I’m going to Iraq at the end of this month, and I can tell you that I can’t wait to go over there and dust some of those bastards off. The war in Iraq is a genius move by the Prez. He has fomented a long-overdue culture clash: Western Christianity against Radical Islam. It is going to get uglier and uglier, and more hatred is going to build as the years go buy. The Muslims have screwed with the wrong bull this time. We will put them and their backward, oppressive culture in their place by their own chosen method: the sword.

  20. NewNameAcquired says:

This could be argued both ways….

    - Someone may say this letter is an attempt at reverse psychology, so because they say they want us to continue, we actually SHOULD continue, because they are bluffing.

    - Someone else may say we SHOULD leave then so we don’t find ourselves obeying the terrorists.

… so I don’t know what to think.

They see Bush’s poll numbers starting to fall, Woodward’s book, the american casualties in Iraq, Condi “having a come to Jesus moment” and finally, admitting that SHE was told about the coming attack on the US by Al Queda, not to mention the Foley mess. This reminds me of Watergate all over again. The difference was Nixon was COMPETENT–a major-league crook, but competent.

    anyone else remember that story?

    Dear Real Fascist,

Have you not been listening to your President?

He has stated that this is NOT a war on Islam! and that Islam is a peaceful religion.

By they way, there is no WAR is Iraq. It is an insurgency and a police action that you are going to…..not an active war.

Too bad for you. You won’t get to get all those brown skinned “bastards” that you are bloodthirsty to do.

Before you go, just check yourself into the nearest mental home, before you are shooting up schools. Idiot.

I wish the Democrats would have a constructive policy about Iraq, so that this floundering around by America would end.

The Terrorists and the current foolish US administration have set the agenda since 911. Warfare from either side will not produce the happiness people essentially want. We need to include everyone in our vision and end the us vs them mentality. Neither violence or avoidance is the answer.

This one just made me laugh out loud.
OBL’s mail might be a little slow reaching him in the mountains.
Stay the course has been changed– to adapt to win, or something like that. Just ask Ken Mehlman.
How will they accuse those who want to redeploy as playing into the hands of the enemy? They will probably have a brainstorm session this weekend and a new slogan will emerge. That should take care of it.

  56. TerrytheTurtle says:

“That being said, those who say that al-Qaeda has won against the administration in the White House or that the administration has lost in this war have not been precise, because when one scrutinizes the results, one cannot say that al-Qaeda is the sole factor in achieving those spectacular gains.

“Rather, the policy of the White House that demands the opening of war fronts to keep busy their various corporations – whether they be working in the field of arms or oil or reconstruction – has helped al-Qaeda to achieve these enormous results.

“And so it has appeared to some analysts and diplomats that the White House and us are playing as one team toward the economic goals of the United States, even if the intentions differ.”

    - Osama Bin Laden

  57. TerrytheTurtle says:

To those who doubt the authenticity of the ideas in the letter…you can find the collected speeches of Bin laden on this subject at iraqqar.org. Here’s an excerpt:

Bin Laden’s speeches..”are worth reading because so much of the reporting about them is incomplete or distorted. It is ironical that we are told that few believed Hitler’s speeches, wherein he laid out all his plans. Yet with Bin Laden, Washington makes every effort to prevent them being heard in their entirety. In particular this is because Bin Laden repeatedly states that it is American policies which he opposes, while the Bush Administration repeatedly claims that his actions are because America is “free” and “good,” and because he wants to re-establish the 12th Century Muslim Empire.”

Everyone should read them who really wants to stop him.

  58. DOYOUSEE says:

American Neo Nazis have gotten what they wanted, a long war to funnel taxes into their friends bank accounts and control oil prices for more friends, simple just start an illegal war,and another, and another. Oh, and opt out of International agreements and international courts and Constitutional laws ,and the BILL OF RIGHTS and GENEVA CONVENTIONS so they can’t be found responsible for all the crimes already committed or are planning to commit.
How f*cking ridiculous to think a super war criminal and his gang would have any chance of being taken seriously by the REAL world that is going to drag them all to the REAL HAGUE just like the first original NAZIS were hunted down around the world and dragged to the defendants dock and F*CKING EXECUTED for crimes against HUMANITY….Just because america’s congress is corrupt does not mean the rest of the actual real world has changed any INTERNATIONAL laws that are still standing and will be upheld.
ALL of the Insane King George’s inner court will be eventually hunted down and brought to WORLD JUSTICE….F*CK what corrupt congress says, they should be prosecuted also for the nightmare they approved. KARMA always wins, fools.

Who cares…just keep up the good work and make sure our name is on CNN everyday. IN doobid a bly! 66. Eric Vigo says:

#19 – well well well, wishing to risk your life everyday while at the same time being oblivious to the actual situation as run by the rules of the world. Hello, Osama wants you to go to Iraq now, so you can die. They dont care if they die, hell, theyre sweet with God apparently. But you value your life more.
But you are willing to throw it away for ignorance? Why did you come onto this planet in the first place? Just to consume oxygen and food, then die under moronic (sorry, moranic) purposes?
Thats right, stick to your beliefs no matter what logic does not apply to them. Off you go then.
Just remember, your beliefs will also allow you to COMPLETELY avoid post-traumatic stress disorder too. Coz you just believe. Done. Solved.
Now, if you could just go over to North Korea, the regime will just crumble, coz you are going to ‘kick their asses’. Yippee, instant solutions!
    Woohoo

I would be very curious to read your explanations of how you came to that conclusion. Really, I would. Please remember to use quotes from the letter to back up your case.
