The Foley emails known about for months

The Foley emails known about for months»

“were classic examples of the tactics predatory adults use to approach young people and called for close and immediate examination, psychiatrists and other clinical experts on sexual misconduct said Wednesday.” Conservatives, House leadership, and the media continue to refer to them simply as “overly friendly.”

    GOP == Greedy ‘Ol Pedophiles

This election season I sure hope people pay attention to this and remember that the GOP preys on their children.

  2. Republicans are the fear and smear party Says:

Republicans don’t believe in things like psychiatry or psychology so they would never have sought the advice of the APA to get a real perspective of what these emails and IMs were. Republican politicos decided that they’re harmless so they’re harmless.

  3. Badmoodman Says:

“Just saying ‘don’t do that’ isn’t really enough” - -The Republicans are taking their cue from the matriarch of the party, Nancy Reagan, and her (in)famous, “Just say ‘no’ to drugs,” campaign.

  4. Jay Randal Says:

Foley is a proven sexual predator pederast > he stalked the teenage male Pages with the intent to seduce them to have sex with him! He most likely succeeded with some of the boys, but they are too afraid to admit he molested them! Hopefully a Page will come forward to admit that Foley had sex with him!

  5. ForTruth Says:

Grooming the victim is what was happening by Foley. It’s funny that laws, concepts, and strict professional guidelines apply to all of us except Congress.

  6. ForTruth Says:

I’ve been grooming a 40 something year old woman for months. :)

  7. Crixi Van Cheek Says:

Foley possessed and used WEAPONS OF MASS SEDUCTION

  8. PatrioticLiberalChristian(PLC) Says:

Worse, they would not have had to go far for advice. Ted Strickland, a member of the House from Ohio, is a psychologist who worked in the prison system before going into politics.

  9. lutton Says:

Overly friendly, just like the BUsh administration with Iraq…

Make the Gopers Lament. Sing it loud, sing it strong.

  11. dlet Says:

Ugh, will this be another day of endless Foley threads? Three so far. Nothing else happening? More dead soldiers, habeus corpus, Iraq worsening, etc……just saying.

  12. JesusChrist_GodOfWAR Says:

#9 - Overly friendly, just like the BUsh administration with Iraq…

That’s a good point. However, I don’t recall Emperor Bush “grooming” Iraq before he “paged” them.

  13. wvvoiceofreason Says:

It’s a real shame that Dateline NBC didn’t set up their “To Catch a Predator’ sting operation in DC. We might have been able to see Mark Foley being tackled and handcuffed by police. His online conversations are strikingly similar to the Internet predators that were apprehended on that program - as were their excuses.

  14. Jay Randal Says:

If any male Pages who knew Mark Foley are reading this TP thread, and were molested by him, then please bravely step forward to press rape charges against him > this is your chance to punish this vile man, so contact the FBI today > do not let him get away with molesting you!

  15. wisedup Says:

What would happen is someone got ‘overly friendly’ with the bush twins??????

‘Just say no to pedifiles’…..there,all fixed….oh please!

  16. budpaul Says:

I’ll have to try that sometime. Next time I’m in the office I’ll go and grab the secretary’s breast and then say it was just an overfriendly greeting.

Does ABC and other media outlets have any responsibility? Seems like they also knew about this stuff for months without doing a thing. Aren’t they also responsible for aiding Foley in his sick actions. They also endangered children when they didn’t go to the police ASAP. So Hasert, other repug leaders, and the media are all responsible. I hope we will see some arrests of the ABC management as well as other media outlets from the FBI soon. Covering this up and not reporting it was a really bad thing to do.

They should all go to jail. Hasert and the ABC crews that knew about it.

  18. cgreen Says:

I appreciate your noting that this is the typical method of the adult preying on an underage youth. There is selecting the victim (usually someone vulnerable), having an excuse to be in close contact (volunteering to work with youth, for example), gifts, inappropriate attention and touches, getting the child’s trust, getting the child alone and perhaps intoxicated, showing the child porn. Anything to make the child confused, guilty etc so they dont seek another adult’s help. It is a pattern such predators now in prison have confessed in order to help society prevent such abuse of children in the future. I would think that the government leaders who are tasked with protecting children from internet solicitation would know much better. In modern times with modern social science and recent news coverage there really is no excuse not to have appropriate preventive knowledge. The ignorance of some of the commenters about Foley being “naughty” or of children who “should have resisted” is appalling.

    Thank you for your post.

  19. Blueneck Says:

What’s up with ABC/Disney? First they “Swiftboat” Bubba with their 9/11 fantasies, and then they torpedo the GOP mid-terms! Is this their attempt to be “Fair and Balanced”? Did they read the tea leaves and realize who was going to be controlling the cable/telecom bill after November? Are they trying to ingratiate themselves into the coming new majority? Anybody else tired of the mouse droppings?

  20. ForTruth Says:

    16 Budpaul,

I thought walking up and mounting another woman is just an over freindly greeting. But I am known for being really freindly.

  21. Chin Says:

    FOLEY IM’s WERE PRANK

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL IM exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, it was revealed today.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of Dem political operatives.

The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.

The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

  22. Anais Says:

For heaven’s sake, conservatives, and mainstream media types, too, educate yourselves about pedophilia! These e-mails are what’s known as “grooming” potential victims: flatter the child, or teen, make him or her feel special, so they are more amenable to physical advances later on.
For conservatives to be the “party of family values,” they sure don’t know much about ensuring the safety of children, do they?
