Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), head of the House page board,
said he was “proud” of how he handled the Foley situation and said he has no intention of stepping down from his position: “What else do you want me to do? Take off my shirt and give myself 40 lashes? Would’ve, could’ve, should’ve.”

With a scandal like this, the people want investigations and resignations as quickly as possible so that they can put the whole sordid story behind them. October 5th, 2006 at 1:17 pmDidnt the catholic church just try to make the story go away quickly by mostly ignoring it and denying it... and then it turned into a crazy nationwide scandle that exposed hundreds of priests and ex alter boys shooting their ex preditor clergymen and lawsuits and loss of respect for the church and political cartoons showing all kinds of shameful takes on the church and what had been going on and how it was being hidden and allowed to continue.
People seem to find it much easier to forget about American soldiers dieing daily in some foreign war than children being violated right here in the homeland... if a large response is not seen then people start feeling complicite themselves and THAT is something the conservatives wont put up with... not even from the catholic church let alone from the federal government representitives....

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL IM exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, it was revealed today.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of Dem political operatives.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.
