over the last four years “for a project ostensibly designed to make Montana a center for space-related research and industry.” The results? The program “appears to have produced few tangible results while spawning several state and federal investigations. It has also earned lobbyists and companies connected to Burns hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts and lobbying fees as well as more than $80,000 in campaign contributions for Burns and Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT).”
Super for old Connie – now he and W can go on a mission to mars together, and avoid the decades of shame and degradation that are their legacy.

October 13th, 2006 at 3:02 pmIf this doesn’t get him…
…nothing will…
…still I wonder if coming from MT…
…Tester will be any better…
…apparently it was Dems from RED states like MT…
…who were among the 77 who voted to give Bushiva the power to invade Iraq…
October 13th, 2006 at 3:04 pm“for a project ostensibly designed to make Montana a center for space-related research and industry.†– - Montana, eh? Ahh, it’s the interstellar portal that Darth Cheney used to come to Earth.
October 13th, 2006 at 3:06 pmThe best part? The brain-dead republicans who, instead of simply cleaning their filthy house, will concentrate every ounce of energy on resurrecting ancient crimes of the other party.
October 13th, 2006 at 3:14 pmThis is refreshing. A republican scandal that doesn’t involve Abramoff or sexual predators. Is that 8 million total or 8 million per year?
October 13th, 2006 at 3:15 pmMonatana a center for space related research??!?!?!?!?
I go to Montana and visit relatives all the time. Some here will remember my trip there in August when my grandmother died.
The only space research going on is cowboys measuring the space between fence posts on the ranches.

October 13th, 2006 at 3:18 pmFacts, links, stories, articles, proof? Something?
October 13th, 2006 at 3:20 pmStill not as bad as John Thune of SD – he was a railroad lobbyist when he was elected and got a $2.3 BILLION taxpayer loan for his former client into the transportation bill without any congressional debate at all.
Still time to kill that one, though.
October 13th, 2006 at 3:31 pmAmerican politicians bought and sold.
October 13th, 2006 at 3:36 pmWhat a lesson to teach our kids.
America will never be the same.
Stick a fork in Burns…he’s done.
October 13th, 2006 at 3:46 pmCertainly plenty of space in Montana…right between
October 13th, 2006 at 3:48 pmBurns’ ears.
After he fails to get relected he’ll have plenty of space
& time to work with on this.
OTOH, the Governor of Montana seems progressive
and a ‘clear thinker’. His vision of ‘clean coal’ technology
should be pursued. Anything that reduces foreign oil
dependency has benefit.
#9, couldn’t agree more. Thune was elected due to all
the RCCC’s money poured into South Dakota to oust
Daschle. Daschle’s done more for our country out of
office than Thune will ever do elected. Didn’t they go in
the Indian Reservations & muck up the election big time?
Aw, you guys beat me to it, I was gonna’ say the only thing you need for space exploration and research in Montana is some horses……. well OK, it is the 21st century, you can have a couple o’ quad runners too…………….

October 13th, 2006 at 4:16 pmfew tangible results? “It has also earned lobbyists and companies connected to Burns hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts and lobbying fees…”
I’m sure those were the tangible results envisioned by the Republicans.
October 13th, 2006 at 5:15 pmIt’s amazing that earmarks are ok in the first place.
October 13th, 2006 at 6:07 pmWow.. so you deleted my post. Nice. Here’s some ‘proof’: http://dorgan.senate.gov/issues/economy/windfall/
This putz believes that oil companies set the price of oil on the market, so he thinks the arbitrary amount of $40 is the point at which anything above constitutes a ‘windfall profit’. Prices are dictated in the trading pits of the CBOT, NYBOT and NYMEX, not the oil companies. They still have to purchase the oil at that amount to refine it and sell it. I can’t find the initial article on MSNBC, but there was a piece about him pushing for legislation.
October 13th, 2006 at 8:33 pmBrandon, you dipshit. Prices are not set on Wall Street.
October 13th, 2006 at 11:20 pmDamn these cats are corrupt!
October 13th, 2006 at 11:56 pmJPark- Before you call names, you might want to take a lesson in the workings of the commodities markets. Futures and contracts are sold ON THE MARKET and that’s what dictates prices… dipshit.
