POLL: Majority Of Americans Reject Right Wing’s Anti-Gay Smears In Foley Scandal

hrc.png Since the Foley scandal broke, many right-wing activists have attempted to brand the scandal as a homosexual issue. Linda Harvey of the conservative site WorldNetDaily stated that “sex with youth are built into the ‘gay’ sub-culture” and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said that “neither party seems likely to address the real issue, which is the link between homosexuality and child sexual abuse.”

Fortunately, the American public has rejected their dishonest scare tactics. A new Human Rights Campaign poll shows that Americans continue to support gay rights:

62 percent of Americans believe that Foley’s behavior was “typical of politicians,” as opposed to just 30 percent who believe his behavior was “typical of gay men.”

70 percent of Americans say that the Foley scandal has not changed their opinion of gay people.

80 percent of Americans believe it is important to make “sure that gays and lesbians receive the same rights and protections under the law as other Americans,” up from 77 percent in April 2006.

Foley’s behavior was the disgraceful behavior of a pedophile. It had nothing to do with the behavior of gay men.

    Just my opinion, of course.

I have 2 comments- One, what is that symbol that you used- the blue square with the yellow equal sign in the middle (or at least I think that’s what it is). I have seen that sticker on many cars and have always wondered what it was, or what it signified- please excuse my ignorance. Also, I would argue that Foley’s behavior is not the behavior of a pedophile. A pedophile seeks out children, and a 16 year old is not a child- they have passed puberty. His behavior is disgraceful, unacceptable and certainly the sign of a man who sought to use his power and influence to manipulate young men who were significantly younger than him, and whose judgement and sense of what is right and wrong is not as developed as we would expect of a 52 year old man, but I would not classify him as a pedophile. I think the phrase ’sexual predator’ that I have heard used is more appropriate.

  17. Ed S. says:

The correlation between youthfulness and beauty is of course not limited to homosexuality, the ‘barely legal/ teen porn’ genre is a major market for straight porn. But there is a very stark line in with both homosexuality and heterosexuality in which normal attraction to youthful beauty becomes the sickness of pedophilia. This line is crossed with a perturbed attraction to pre-developed adolescents and a socio-psychological attraction to an emotionally and socially dependent innocent.

Studds “had his dick up a pages ass” in 1973. The republicans brought it up in 1983 because one of their congressman had been caught with a female page. I think what Studds did was wrong, but it was legal, AND consensual. Big difference.

PS Studds turning his back when he was being censured has made a lot of play on the blogs. That is protocol for someone being censured!

It amazes me that this country continues to function at all given the power of the right wing. Every solution they offer is an ideological response which is never the correct solution and often not even addressing the same problem. Every enemy they attack is never the real enemy. They spend money and man-hours on solutions while the problems get worse; they spend resources and American lives on fighting enemies who have not attacked us, and the numbers of our enemies continue to grow.

Amazingly they are always wrong — always wrong. And yet we continue. But after 6, 7 and 8 years of this our worsening problems will eventually consume us and we only ignore our true enemies at an ever increasing risk to all.

It’s truly a testimony to the greatness of this country and the American spirit that we can survive them

  48. osage says:

If I understand correctly, some of the teenaged boys Foley, a 52-year-old gay adult male, was trying to pressure/seduce were straight/heterosexual males. In those cases, the only comparable behavior would be a 52-year-old straight adult male trying to pressure/seduce gay/homosexual teenaged females. From the victims perspective, isn’t that different and or more aberrant than an adult straight male trying to pressure/seduce teenaged straight girls?

  49. Jules says:

OK hellpig – nice try highjacking the thread.

Well, I will stand up with you on that one. My spelling is just atroshuss sometimes. Lets talk about something much more fun, like making up jokes.

I got one: What did Foley say to the teenage pages that finally raised the Republicans suspicions?

Answer: When they heard him introduce himself by always saying, “Hey, how’s it hanging, pal?”

  53. ren says:

#68 hey hell-pig, did the spelling advice help you out? good glad to help…

  55. barfly says:

    Osage:

Either way, it’s “grooming” someone under the age of consent. Perhaps Foley misread something a page said or did to make him think they were groom-able. If he was in fact molested when he was roughly their age, he would remember his feelings of adolescent confusion, and perhaps project those feeling onto others, whether consciously or unconsciously, rightly or wrongly.

  62. Samantha says:

    Erica,

The sign is an HRC sticker.

And I agree with your statement that this isn’t about pedophelia. Pedophiles, as you said, go after children. In fact, if they get to the age of puberty they become unappealing. The whole point of going after children is that they ARE children. A pedophile is not interested in a teenager, he is interested in kids like JonBenet. And they are mostly all straight.

Then you’ve got the incest fathers and uncles. They can be pedophiles in a sense because they start when the kids are babies, but it can extend past puberty, as long as the person is living in the house or has access. Once again, they are mostly straight offenders.

Foley is really neither of those. He is just one of those sick, semi-abusive assholes who sexual harrass underage kids. The kids though, are not 9 and 10 years old, they are teens or older. They are past puberty, which means they have already established their sexual self identity (even if it is self hidden- it is already formed). Normal adults who are non-pedophiles might still be attracted to this age group in some respect, but most have boundaries to not follow that through, and certainly not to harrass them. By chance, Foley just happened to be gay and the folks he harrassed were male not female. (The teenage girls who worked there, if any, were probably relieved.)

Right now in every American High school there is a Foley or close to one. And many of them are straight. Somewhere there is a male teacher who has rubbed the shoulders of his 16 year old female student. The student is uncomfortable but says nothing. She endures off color jokes in class. The word quickly gets out in the student body to keep your eyes on Mr. so and so because he likes kids. And it exists outside school, and continues in the workplace, and in the military, and in clubs, and in church, and everywhere there is an authority figure.

That’s what makes it so much worse, because of the power imbalance. Maybe the kids can tell the janitor to screw off, but what do they do when the boss takes a liking to you? That is really the issue here.

  68. ann says:

I have to disagree with the notion that Foley is a pedophile. He is a sexual predator, but there is no evidence that he sexually molested children. But his homosexuality had nothing to do with the fact that he is a sexual predator – there are too many heterosexual sexual predators out there to consider that homosexuality causes one to become a sexual predator.

Pardon me for the long post but it is to interesting… go to wikipedia for the rest…

The term Dixiecrat is a portmanteau of Dixie, referring to the Southern United States, and Democrat, referring to the United States Democratic Party. Initially, it referred to a 1948 splinter from the party: for over a century, white Southerners had overwhelmingly been Democrats, but that year many bolted the party and supported Strom Thurmond’s third-party candidacy for president of the United States. Over the next several decades, as the white South slowly re-aligned from the Democrats to the Republicans, the term came to have a broader usage, including, for example, with reference to the members of the Electoral College who in the election of 1960 voted for Harry Flood Byrd rather than John F. Kennedy, or the white Southern voters and electors who in 1968 supported George C. Wallace.

The term has also been used to refer to conservative white Southerners who remain within the Democratic Party, and those who were formerly Democrats but now identify as Republicans.
    Contents

States’ Rights Democratic Party was a short-lived splinter group that broke from the Democratic Party in 1948. The States’ Rights Democratic Party opposed racial integration and wanted to retain Jim Crow laws and racial segregation. The party slogan was “Segregation Forever!” Members of the States’ Rights Democratic Party were often known as Dixiecrats.

The party was formed after thirty-five delegates from Mississippi and Alabama walked out of the 1948 Democratic National Convention. The walkout was prompted by a controversial speech by then-Mayor Hubert Humphrey of Minneapolis, Minnesota urging the party to adopt an anti-segregationist plank in the platform, which it did. Even before the convention started, the Southern delegates were upset by President Harry S. Truman’s executive order to racially integrate the armed forces.

After President Truman’s endorsement of the civil rights plank, Strom Thurmond, governor of South Carolina, helped organize the walkout delegates into a separate party, whose platform was ostensibly concerned with states’ rights. The Dixiecrats held their convention in Birmingham, Alabama, where they nominated Thurmond for president and Fielding L. Wright, governor of Mississippi, for vice president.

I think that tablogloid misstated the question – the true statistic is that a vast majority of PEDOPHILES are heterosexual men. That doesn’t correlate to what sex the victims are – pedophilia has nothing to do with someone’s sexual orientation.

  83. SonsofTureen says:

Too bad Americans can’t stand up and demand a withdrawal from Iraq the same way we clamor job justice for a drunk gay predator.

600,000 dead IRaqis.. and what is America clear about – the sexual difference between a pedophile and a gay person.

It would be shocking how pathetically stupid and in denial Americans are, except Americans have been behaving this way for many a year.

Vietnam – a shocking example of Americans simply ignoring what’s happening while our forces slaughter (3 million is it? Vietnamese) And now we are slaughtering the IRaqis.

When 1 million Iraqis are dead, will America care? Or do Americans need to outdo the Vietnam slaughter. Is there some need to balance out the genocidal compulsion?

Or we will we still be arguing about whether Foley is a pedophile, a gay pedophile, just gay, a drunk gay pedophile, or none of the above.

  85. ren says:

#105 Last time I checked we killed 1 million Iraqis’ over 10 years with our sanctions, so go figure…

  86. SonsofTureen says:

But the really important question is – What is the murder of 600,000 IRaqis? It’s GENOCIDE people. Your country has committed genocide. And Foley like all the other rotten bastards in the Congress voted for genocide, and continues to pursue young males while voting for genocide. Is it any wonder he is perverted? Sex addicted? What else do you expect from men and women who vote for genocide? What do you expect from them? They have no conscience. Nor does most of America right now.

Jay and Juan, you’re both incredibly wrong! Yes, it is about power, and yes it is also about sex. Sex and power make the world go round. Maybe saying it isn’t about sex makes it more comfortable for you. It is certainly about sex when that marine raped and burned that Iraqi teenager, for example. He had plenty of “power trips” with a uniform and a gun, and could kick anyone’s ass he wanted any day of the week. He wanted something else from that poor girl.

  89. SonsofTureen says:

    107
That’s right Ren. Under the first Bush and Clinton, the sanctions killed 1 million children, just children. And when Madeleine ALlbright, that wonderful woman was asked if she thought it was worth it – all those children dead – she said yes, it was worth it.

And yet here we all are arguing about whether Foley is a pedophile or just a sex addict. It’s a great distraction from the real issues. Yes put him in jail, or whatever, yes remove him from power. But will that change anything?

Cause the values of this country are rotten. When we can look the other way while we slaughter millions, for no reason. No freaking reason. Except money. The money to be made from war.

  90. SonsofTureen says:

So perhaps now we know the real reason behind Bush’s desire to attack Iran. Soon most Iraqis will be dead and the ones remaining won’t be worth killing. So his war machine will need a new source of revenue.

And what can we say of the Democrats. The war Democrats like Hilary – who presciently stated that Israel represents American values when it drops millions of cluster bombs in Lebanon.

What can we say of our Congress, both Republicans and Democrats – they are colluders in murder, wanton murder. And yet all we focus on is Foley’s perversion.

You won’t find an American more outraged by what the Cheney regime has done in Iraq than I. It’s disgusting and many war crimes have been commited. You may want to take advantage of the “topics” tab on the upper right to delve back into previous threads specifically regarding Iraq. You will find almost complete agreement on the topic.

If you know folks that are still unconvinced that what’s been done in Iraq is heartbreaking, please watch this:

    Juan,

What do you mean, in his mind? Are you inside his mind? Of course someone has issues if they need a big car or gun to feel powerful. Doesn’t stop them from enlisting. Doesn’t stop Ford from putting commercials on the radio making fun of guys with wimpy cars and building bigger machines for the male ego. I mean, what’s next, an army tank? Is that tough enough? When the Commander in Chief gets more points for strapping on some military flight gear instead of how many marbles are in his head, there’s a problem. I’m sorry, but your premise is wrong. That soldier DID rape and burn that girl, and that soldier IS one of the “proud but few” that you all are wearing yellow ribbons for.

Republican Presidential Candidate Barry Goldwater carried the Deep South in 1964, despite losing in a landslide in the rest of the nation to President Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas. Johnson surmised that his advocacy behind passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would lose the South for the Democratic party and it did. The only Democratic presidential candidate after 1956 to solidly carry the Deep South was President Jimmy Carter in the 1976 election…. Just thought that was interesting Wikipedia on the Dixicrats

He had plenty of “power trips” with a uniform and a gun, and could kick anyone’s ass he wanted any day of the week. He wanted something else from that poor girl.

And Im saying not. Anyone feeling secure and comfortable with (for example, really troublesome issues) his appearance, his penis size, boob size, height, weight, etc. have a normal self-esteem. I dont need to be in his mind to know that he was a sick person. Its called psychology…there are mental patterns manifesting in attitudes towards the others. What I tried to say is that, inside him, he was pure filth, no matter how many shots he could put on an enemy, no matter how his equipment look, no matter his power trips. In fact, just the opposite: anyone showing off big time in the street, at school or at work, has self-esteem issues. Now, my thesis is that that soldier didnt want sex. Any forced sex is not sex. Its rage and low self-esteem.

I’ve come to believe that about a good number of people in positions of authority – that it’s about forcing their way on others, so that they can feel superior. It’s becoming an epidemic. And it’s not surprising when we live in a capitalistic world that has found that the best form of advertizing is to tell people how worthless they are without Product X or Gizmo That… Appalling. We’re breeding generations of Inferiority Complexes.

The word quickly gets out in the student body to keep your eyes on Mr. so and so because he likes kids.

Every American high school? Are you nuts?

Most of the male teachers I work with would sooner cut off their own arms than harm a student. It’s why they are there – to teach the kids, not prey upon them.

A few preditors do not set a national precident that should convict every man who wants to spend his days helping to educate children.

I agree with most of what you’re saying. All I was doing was responding to 2 posts which said rape is not sex, it’s power or something else. You’re entitled to your thesis that the soldier didn’t want sex. But you’d still be wrong imo. It’s complicated. there are self esteem issues as you said, and possible societal issues, sexual identity issues, issues of past abuse, bad parental examples, and the list goes on. BUT, it’s still sex. The soldier wanted it to gratify himself, it was spoils of war to him. She was the enemy and deserved it anyway. Women in the USA can say no to him, make fun of him, give him a hard time if they want. This girl on the street couldn’t, because he could overpower her. And since she was the “enemy” it was justified in his mind anyway.

Saying forced sex is not sex is simply incorrect. It’s just more comfortable to think of it that way. Because if we didn’t think of it that way, then we’d make that connection between sex drive and rape. We’d be forced to replace love and respect with selfishness and lust. Then we’d be two hops away from the unwanted visual of our husband or brother raping someone. And we love those people and don’t want to think of them in that way. So it must be an aborration instead….a glitch of nature, a bent mind. But guess what, it’s not. Yes, psychology can get deep.

I love it when Juan C. and trueblue and Zooey hijack the TP threads and use them as their own personal message boards.
    Comment by RobG

Glad you love it, cranky. Listen, this thread was hijacked by a fruitcake called “hellpig,” not any of us.

  147. ren says:

Yo Rob Morre could you say some of that in english so we can get it?
Seems like they are selling off whole Islands, is that correct?

  153. barfly says:

ren, since you’re on youtube, search for “flaming shot goes horribly wrong.”

That was me, thirty years ago!

  154. barfly says:

Except I wasn’t stupid enough to try and drink it!

I just burned all the hair off my arm, and later awoke with my head in the trash (but that’s another story).

Ok! So it was just me clearing the room. Happy? *sniff*

Ren and Barfly…dont want to sound pompous…but how did you actually enjoy being with friends and having some beers? Is it necessary to be wasted to enjoy a party? I ask because I saw a lot of wasted kids in Cancun on Springbreak…whats the point? Oh, and the yelling: uuuuuuhhhh!! My question: So?
(This is a question posted by a guy who got drunk at his 13 y/o…so nevermind)

  159. ren says:

#189 yo,zoe,, mean what what way… I think I am glowing too by the way, but you wouldn’t know it by my superior flying skills….

The only off the wall comment Zooey is why does your twat smell like tuna?

    Comment by Juan+C

    HAHA! What!?

  168. Zooey says:

    Yeti,

A limp weenied asshole is stealing our names. We can tell the difference, but since you’re new, you really can’t.

If “Juan C” is saying anything insulting to me — it’s not him.

  169. Yeti_Steve says:

  177. ren says:

Come on’ Juan…you don’t sound pompous… you sound like you need a shot of nyquill.. It is absolutely not necessary to be wasted,,,, and we’re not at a party otherwise I might get wasted..
If you saw a lot of kids not getting wasted on spring break in Cancun, wouldn’t you actually be worried?

If you saw a lot of kids not getting wasted on spring break in Cancun, wouldn’t you actually be worried?
    Comment by ren

    Ha! That was funny.
But, actually, no. I rather go to places where US kids arent around. They are loud, dumb and boring. Including girls, of course. At first, when you are a kid, you like to see some b**bs flashing…but then it gets boring (yeah, I said that). I prefer europeans. They are quieter, softer, incredibly well-informed and love the prehispanic culture. I know, i know…that was a wide generalization, a stupid one, ok. But thats my opinion. If you want to enjoy a mexican beach, avoid big, fancy hotels. They will be full with drunken Eminem wanna be kids.

  180. Juan+C says:

Hey, trollie. Babelfish gives you the translation in the cyrilic alphabet and what I wrote is in latin characters. Dumbass.

  181. Pete_Bogs says:

Now, Im really gone. Sorry if I offended anybody.
    Bye, Zoo.

  183. ren says:

Juan, I concur totally… I already know that and I haven’t stepped off the continent yet. Been to Canada and Mexico but still not off shore and already I know the atmosphere is different everywhere but here. even in brazil I’m sure its butter smooth there. 196. Yeti_Steve says:

217 – Being a young American in college, I can say that yeah, that’s a fair statement about my people. All that they care about is partying and getting wasted. It’s a big contributing factor in the growing apathy in this nation (not news, I know). I can remember the night that N. Korea set off their nuke, and I can remember being glued to the screen (had I known then what I know now I wouldn’t have bothered), and one of my roomates just saying “Wow. Well, I’m gonna go drink a fifth of Jaeger and go to a party.”. THey’re pretty typical, and they’re also flag waving, country listenin’ retards (conservatives).

  197. Yeti_Steve says:

241 – Okay, shut the f*ck up. Now.

  198. ren says:

Hey, did you notice how fast my post got deleted by TP…Well now I will post it the correct way…………………..
F# UCK YOU THINK PATHETIC, F# UCK YOU THINK PATHETIC, F# UCK YOU THINK PATHETIC…………..
Thanks for letting someone who should be either in Jail or in an institution somewhere,,,on the site, well if you want to let this go, I can go there to the next level……

  199. ren says:

look hellpig, you need to get it together. Yes we are a bunch of Liberals but what is your point… Yes we ripped on you, but only because you were being an ass… None of Us have hated anyone including you up until now… If you want to cross that line then it’s your game for now on…..

  200. ren says:

So, let me guess… are you the impersonator?

  201. ren says:

so are you the total f#cking retard that has been impersonating everyone “LiberalLicker”?

  202. ren says:

Where did you go,,,,, little hoe…The classic,,,”LiberalLicker” vanishing point…I knew it…

  203. ren says:

#251 point taken… but you got to understand that sh!t gets thrown around a lot here…and honestly, I apologize for ripping on your spelling especially when I’m not the best speller in the world….so, yes they ripped on you, but be more precise with your points instead of just hating us all here alright…we’re pretty cool and who knows maybe you are too…but we’ll never know if we keep going this route…you be cool and we’ll be cool, agreed….?

  204. Yeti_Steve says:

    255 – That’s something losers say.

  205. ren says:

    What do you want?

  206. Yeti_Steve says:

I need you to stop because I am concentrating on shoving this dildo in my ass

    Comment by Yeti_Steve

Oh damn, I totally said that *sarcasm*. How old are you? Twelve? Thirteen? Alright, this thread is dead to me.

  207. ren says:

So, I guess f#cknuts is gone… now that he wrecked the tread…
So what do we want to do about this in the future?
At TP it seems that we do nothing except somehow, make it worse by doing D!ck…

  208. ren says:

Alright, this thread is dead to me.
    Comment by Yeti_Steve — October 15, 2006 @ 1:14 am

So,,, you allow a punk Beotch to steal the thread and then cry and wipe your pants AFTER he leaves
    Your worthless too….

  209. Yeti_Steve says:

258 – We could do what Kos does, and have the names password protected. It’s pretty simple, but very effective.

  210. Yeti_Steve says:

261 – I think responding and making such a big fuss only encourages him. But you’re right, I suppose. If we draw it out the admin has a greater chance of paying more attention and doing something to put a stop to it.

  211. ren says:

Well the Tumbleweeds are rolling again and Think Progress has many issues that have to be dealt with and soon…………
I don’t know who is running the show at the top of this Site but they need to get it together with a lot of issues… here is my list…
#1) You cannot allow a flagrant kamikaze attack on a thread or the whole blog site in general by a person who feels the vindictiveness of a terrorist to come on to the site and threaten and vandalize the whole program. Hellpig/ Liberalhater did just that last night and patted himself on the back for wrecking the thread….
#2) Put the Font back the way it was, please
#3) Please do something about the lag time on the posts…. We are talking over each other like it’s a joke… If you need donations to the site let us know and we could probably work something out.
Look, I like the site a lot and have a good time here but the threshold is coming and people are losing their patience with THINK PROGRESS. Please don’t go the way of the failed sites, please, we do like it here…

  212. ren says:

#260 and #261 what the F#ck yeti… These people have to be dealt with up-front and squashed like f#cking bugs… how are you going to accommodate them? How are you not going to respond to someone who can wreck the thread anytime they please,,,,WTF???????

  213. Spudge_Boy says:

I have been posting at this particular blog for years now and “don’t respond to the trolls” does not work. If you don’t confront them and shine the truth on their lies, they do not go away. they stay and continue to post their lies.

Always face a troll head on and take them out.

    ALWAYS.

  214. Yeti_Steve says:

265 – No, I was making a statement from the same perspective that alot of people see this whole issue from. Alot of people will turn tail the second they see sign of a troll, because there’s this rediculous sense of politeness among bloggers, and one of them is not feeding trolls. I’m with you on this, the reason I left originally was because I had to get some stuff from the store. I personally think that we need to flush these pieces of crap any time they feel the need to ruin a perfectly good topic of conversation.

  215. ren says:

well since tp deletes posts instead of dealing with them i guess my #265 response is now directed at #’s 262 and #263,,,,wtf?

  216. ren says:

261 – I think responding and making such a big fuss only encourages him. But you’re right, I suppose. If we draw it out the admin has a greater chance of paying more attention and doing something to put a stop to it.

#265 what the F#ck is wrong with you,” no, I was making a statement from the same bla bla bla bla bla…”
We need to crush this a$$hole…

“If you don’t confront them and shine the truth on their lies, they do not go away. Comment by Spudge_Boy — October 15, 2006 @ 1:49 am”
THIS IS NOT YOUR NORMAL BLOG THREAD A$$holes…. This f#ck threatened many of our friends her and disgraced us all….
So this is not your average incident, get it together…

  217. Yeti_Steve says:

    270 – Dude, calm down. Jesus Christ, it’s just a f*cking website.

  218. ren says:

#268 calm down ya, your right it is a website and your thoughts and words are who you are and we just allowed some scumbag to disgrace our thoughts and minds; and our brothers and sisters; and our wives and husbands by some of the sh!t this puke just said…
This is a turning point for me..
If you cant even have some dignity on a blog with your friends and loved ones than what’s the point….
AND I cant believe I have to remind you guys about this?

  219. Yeti_Steve says:

271 – Look, if you really want this crap to change, then do what people do. Stop wasting your anger, and start a petition for some change on the site, like better security, and different font yadda yadda. And if one of these clowns does get through somehow crush him like a bug, and encourage others to do the same. The people who run this site are interested in input from their readers, because it helps them improve the site and thus get more readers. Just try it out, and quit acting like we’re the enemy.

  220. ren says:

Also, you are basically saying that it’s ok for a guy to say he wants to pack your fathers fudge in 1000 miles away? I think it is the same as saying it to your face… my personal favorite was,”Ren the only meat packing I will be doing is in your oldest son when he turns 18 …16 if you live in DC Comment by hellpig — October 14, 2006 @ 2:29 pm”
And I don’t have a kid and I’m extremely offended…. so am I still blowing this out of proportion?

  221. Yeti_Steve says:

271 – I agree, that’s way offensive, I was offended by alot of the crap that ass clown said. To be honest, if he were right in front of me when he said it, I would have thrown a punch. But the fact of the matter is, this is the internet, the cowards play ground. They do this stuff because they’re nerds with no friends, with alot of time on their hands, they say this stuff because they know they can get away with it. So the only I can do is find a way to not let them get away with it anymore, and i think the thing I suggested would be a step in the right direction.

  222. ren says:

Yeti, WTF,, who said I was looking at you like the enemy?
Now I am..because of your lame ass go get a petition speech, Is that the best you got? my favorite part is the yadda yadda part…
wow, you are some hunk of cheese..
“Wasting my anger?” I wasn’t angry until this d!ck disgraced us all,,,,,And now I’m even more angry that you are minimizing it…..
The people who run this site are NOT interested in input from their readers, otherwise they would have changed from all the writings myself and others have listed to them….
“Just try it out and quit acting like “we’re the enemy” If I thought you were the enemy, then why would I be so outraged that someone is attacking you?

  223. Yeti_Steve says:

Fine Ren, what’s your plan of action then?

  224. ren says:

#272 wow, you would have thrown a punch,,,hummmm,, and I would have ripped your face off.
If that guy said that to me, I don’t know what I would do honestly, I don’t even want to know what I would do. I said it before, I can take it but,,,, if you f#uck with anyone I care about or respect than all bets are off, I cannot be held responsible for my actions….

  225. ren says:

The plan of action is that “everyone” bypass think progress and form contractual pact and that we will either drop the post and reform somewhere else(#1) and or(#2) shut that Mother F#ucker down…. we all have to agree on that otherwise it’s pointless. We have to defend each other weather in person or the blog. I will make a list once I thought it out but I’m just so pissed and sick and on Nyquil and more beers than I care to say… I’m sorry if I’m “over reacting” but that sh!t doesn’t flush with me…

  226. Yeti_Steve says:

Oh, Nyquil and beer? How are you still awake? I would be so asleep right now.

  227. Yeti_Steve says:

These delays are pissing me off soooooo much. TP needs a better server. I think I’m just taking things out of context. Just to clear things up, I understand why you’re so furious, and because he didn’t say anything worse than putting a…toy up my ass, to me, I’m no where near as pissed as you are. I’m not trying to minimize anything you say, I’m just throwing ideas out there. I’m pretty new to TP, so I have no idea what the admins are like.

If Hellpig had a life he wouldn’t have spent hours in front of a computer masquerading as people saying some of the most out of line things.

  230. barfly says:

This problem isn’t going to go away, and the nearer to the election we get, the more of it we’ll experience. Not just TP, but other major blogs. I wouldn’t doubt that there’ll be disruptions planned.

  231. barfly says:

Perhaps if the management doesn’t want to to anything about it, we could do as they do on the carnival with pushy locals: an online version of “hey Rube!”

  232. ren says:

Do you all like that pricks sign-off, hope you do because there is more to come from this one I can just tell..
If you want to help me change the site for the better, I just set up a hotmail accout for just this ren9tt@homail.com
Please lets stop it before it starts, email me and I’ll take your serious suggestions

  233. Yeti_Steve says:

Good idea, you should post it at the top of every blog you can to get more peoples attention.

  234. ren says:

oh wait,,, am i violating anything by posting an email address?

  235. ren says:

honestly, what should be happening is that there is a cool person on shift to monitor this stuff…hello?
Look the site is free so there is only so much to expect. I’ll send them a couple of bucks extra to do the job they are supposed to be doing… what the hell?

  236. Yeti_Steve says:

I hope not. It might be seen as an advertisement. You could try making a website were people can write their suggestions and it dumps into the email address. I dont’ know how to do that, though. Oh, and be prepared to have the address swamped by freaks like HellPig.

  237. barfly says:

“But barfly,” you might ask,” what’s a ‘hey, Rube!’”

A “hey Rube” is a call for help – to be answered whether you are sleeping, eating, or screwing. It is only used when carnies (or circus workers) are attacked by someone from outside the group.

If a Hellpig appears (one that has stolen names, in effect, plagiarising individuals’ identities), they should be hounded from the site, or at least forced to curb their third grade outbursts by blanketing them with a barrage of negative noise. A name-stealer has forfeited any right to discussion, and has attacked the group; if TP won’t do it, perhaps we must.

  238. ren says:

#288 yetti,,, no sh!t,, My first email will be his sorry ass i already know that…. websites? im not on that either I got some friends that can help me though…I would want an email that dumps into a website in this case if Tp will get upset at me posting my site here…
Yeti– You are a very good Human Being, I take back any of the foul things that passed your way obviously and I have to pack it in cause I’m f#ucking wasted… good night and see you tomorrow. chin-up…

  239. Yeti_Steve says:

292 – Well schucks. Thanks for the niceness. You’re a good man. You’ll have to tell me why you took NyQuil and beer. Tell me about it tommorow. My idea for the website is like the one they had on TP for mail bombing that douche on Fox news to demand some truth from Condi, but yeah, no clue how to do it. I’ll conspire with you tommorow. Hope you sober up well :)

  240. ren says:

#291 Barfly, you have my attention!!!!! I was just about to go to bed but lay it on me brother…
This guy will pick up on that,”hey rube” eventually you’ll see “hey rube” all over the damn place.
I like the hounding the guy Idea, that is where I was going…. Basically hunt him down and off the site, but the imposter thing is like the Ceylon thing in “Battlestar Galactica” or whatever, terrorists, Insurgents…There is no real way to defend unless you run the site and can delete his posts at the very least… and on and on…

  241. ren says:

I’m going to bed after all….night all…. sugar plumb conspiracies danced in their heads……

    #293 Yo, Spellpig,,,,I just took a fat dump, thanks… Nighty Night A$$HOLE….

  243. Tired of the Hypocracy says:

    #6:

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy. Your use of a past event to justify EX-Rep. Foley meets that standard. I was not aware of the “Fact” you quoted, but obviously you were. What did you do or what have you done to ensure that Pedophiles of whatever political strand are not molesting any child?

Why do you bring up your information in the manner that you do? The obvious is that you want to somehow justify Mr. Foley’s actions or that of the Republican Party leadership in attempting to hold on to their precarious majority. Both fail dismally. Do not attempt to take the high road when your postulations foundations are built on sand.

I agree, whoever the Democrat who sexually molested is just as guilty as Mr. Foley, if in fact he did engage in “sick” sex with minors. The difference is that the politician, perhaps only known to you and the Spin-masters of Mr. Foley’s party, is that perhaps and hopefully now the average voter is tired of being duped by the likes of our politician.

Sins of the past are best taken care of by God. Sins of the present need to be cured by the public at large. I beseech you to join with any person, regardless of their political disposition, and help to at least make a dent in the overall Hypocrisy of the current politicians. Send a clear message that WE are not satisfied with the Status Quo. Make a clear statement that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

  244. ForTruth says:

Nice fricken thread destruction here, don’t mind the wreckage. The guy who was using everyone elses name, should be deleted. His IP is consistent, right TP?

  245. Gregory Frost says:

Frank Rich dismembers the gay bashing line in the Sunday NY Times, pointing out that nearly all of the GOPers who beat the drums in opposition to same-sex unions et al have openly gay operatives in their offices and campaigns. In fact, the real question is how these operatives can be either so obtuse, naive, or hypocritical in working for the election of creatures that use them and their sexual orientation as a scary boogeyman everytime it looks like they might be slipping in the polls. I guess there’s always someone dumb enough to believe Lucy will hold the football in place.

Hmmmmmmm, those numbers are down from the pre-Foley scandal. Seems only the gay community was hurt by the association of gays with pedophiles that progs pushed in the first moments after this scandal broke.

  247. valerief says:

Too many Americans have their own pedophiles in the family and know, for certain, it’s not a gay thing.

You guys who are complaining about the size of the font–don’t you know that you can press control while turning the mousewheel and make the font any size you want?

Hellpig, you’re such a dumb ass.

    Jason,

Hastert will lose his leadership position, we will also retake the Senate, and both Bush and Cheney will be impeached.

Get used to saying “President Pelosi” – and enjoy the coming Watergate/, Iran/Contra -style barbeque.

  251. barfly says:

#291 Barfly, you have my attention!!!!! I was just about to go to bed but lay it on me brother…
This guy will pick up on that,”hey rube” eventually you’ll see “hey rube” all over the damn place.
I like the hounding the guy Idea, that is where I was going….

By forming an informal minuteman -type response. When a piggie pops up stealing names, we jump from thread to thread warning others of a morphing name-stealer in the house – and to ignore flamers while piggie gets banned. Isolate him like a virus, posting wherever he does with warnings to others of his name-stealing nature. If we tie up all the threads for simply doing TP’s job for them, perhaps TP will decide to monitor it more closely in the future.

Now this is a nuclear option: to be used ONLY on name-stealers.

  252. Ron says:

Just to bring the record into line: Gerry Studds was found to have had consensual sex with a page. After this was discovered a Democratic Congress was presented with a motion of censure. I think it was Tip O’Neil that made the motion. The motion passed 402 to 3.

Rep. Studds stood and faced the speaker as the censure was read, as is the proper protocol.

So there were three Democrats that put party above principle. Not a bad ratio actually.

Now let’s see the ratio with Foley. Hmm, there doesn’t seem to be any overt action at all. Just sweep it under the ever more bulging rug and hope that it goes away.

  253. NotWaff says:

Foley does not represent Republicans – he represents the gays. Look at the Gay organizations that encourage young teens to be sexually active and to experiment with gay sex with older men. Gay literature encourages and glamorizes gay sex between teens and older men. Gay organizations lobby to redefine the “age of consent” so gay men can be having sex with younger teens. Yes, Mark Foley represents a bigger problem – the sexploitation of our young by the gay agenda.

  254. voiceofreason says:

The Foley issue isn’t a gay issue? Really? Two of my brother’s were sexually abused by gay men (one by a priest who gave him drugs). Gay men abusing adolescent boys is one of the truly scary problems parents of male children face.

And you wonder why parents don’t want their children around gay scoutmasters and teachers? To say that there is also heterosexual child abuse does NOT change the dynamic between gay men and adolescent boys. Gay men are drawn to adolescent boys – period. They always have been.

Back to congress: gay Rep. Barney Frank himself hired a young male prostitute, and Frank’s lover was busted for running a male prostitution ring out of Frank’s house!!

I am the mother of boys. My children will have exposure to gay men when they are old enough to understand the risks and to throw a strong right hook.

  255. Mickey says:

Not typical for Homosexuals, not even for Pedophiles. Typical of Sexual Predators of all preference flavors…

  256. lisa says:
