Total number of U.S. troop deaths in Iraq this month, “an extraordinarily high midmonth tally.” At the current rate of American deaths, “October is on track to be the third deadliest month of the entire Iraq war for American forces.”
How many permanent military bases are being built in Iraq? 14 or so?
600K+ dead Iraqis, 10’s of thousands innocent children. All for greed, power and lies of the Cheney/Rove/Rumsfeld administration.
Yes Flamethrower, they volunteered. Those in the military before this shit hit the fan volunteered to serve their country — a country they trusted to send them into war only when it was truly necessary. They didn’t volunteer for GWB’s vanity war.
Those have volunteered since — who knows? True believers? Maybe.
53. 53 more people who needlessly had to give their lives so this fascist CONservative regime can take away our rights and dismantle the Constitution. Of course, it’s just a comma, right? (sigh)
Zooey, trueblue,
Yes we are less than 75% through one of the most disastrous periods of our nation’s history, if not the most disastrous. I often feel empathy for J. Fred Muggs when W is depicted as a chimp. There is not a single surviving life-form on this planet lower in the evolutionary path than W.
I dunno, this all seems too familiar from the CA-50 race where Busby lost. Progs hype races as close when they aren’t, and retread old issues, that lose their impact with each retelling.
Again, you lack the requisite vision that would cause voters to move towards you, when they desire to move from incumbants.

Don’t count Bilbray as a win just yet. He’s being sued – for misrepresenting which of his three homes is actually his primary residence (as he attested to on candidate registration forms). Statements from witnesses indicate that he’s lying, and that the home in his elected district isn’t his primary residence. If a judge rules against him as is expected to happen, I’m sure you can imagine the consequences.
But Tony Snow said that we should always trust the prez in matters of nat’l security. Do we dare question Fearless Leader just because so many troops have died halfway through October? America’s Least Wanted
Zooey > I got the text/font size issue cleared up > “unbelievable” gave the solution to go to toolbar, hit view, then hit text size to increase > it worked! The tiny small font started a few days ago for many of us, so TP reduced the font size or there is some kind of glitch? Weird that some of us had the problem, but others not?
I emailed Judd, at TP, that they should post solutions to these technical problems on the threads, before pissing off people!
I have had NO such problems on other blog sites, so these glitches are weird on TP threads!
tough to bring the troops home if they have all been blowed up – tough to stay the course if one does not have any troops to stay the course with.
what did ” i am a dick ” cheney say once about the Freedom Fighters being in their ‘ last throes ‘ ?? why that fat gout ridden sack of lying shit ever gets any air time whatsoever is beyond me.
The most interesting political day of the year will be November 8. Our country will have charted a course on how to proceed in Iraq.
If Democrats win both or either side of Congress I would expect a statesmen (or stateswoman) to put forth a way out of Iraq. I think in our collective gut Americans are ready to bring our men and women home and let Iraqi’s decide on their future.
It’s not just our soldiers who are sustaining heavy casualties. The British are increasingly being asked to do more with less. Read >this Guardian account in the men’s own words after General Dannatt spoke up for withdrawal. If only we had generals who would speak up and not just after they’re retired.
On the home front, Paul Krugman lambastes poseurs like Lieberman in “One Letter Politics.”
Hmmm… It seems like raiding homes door to door looking for “insurgents”
is taking its toll.
Question:
why aren’t the Iraqi forces doing this job?
When will they “stand up”?
I don’t watch much tv, has the fact that the Iraq death has now passed the 9/11 death toll been on the MSM news? Or even the fact there have been so many deaths already this month?
#45 and #46, Cato/big+papa -
Yup, the Iraqi loss is equivalent to 7,800,000 Americans. I wonder if we would be upset if the positions were changed. Could anyone profer a guess?

No more.

Your post made me jump up and check my keychain, where I keep my Bush Backwards Counter.
It is indeed 827 days,… 1 hour and 49 minutes…..
I’m afraid this “last stretch” of his may be the worst/deadliest we’ve seen in a while.”

October 15th, 2006 at 10:14 pmI’m OK.
Trying to stay in touch with TP while dealing with the drama of a 16 year old @ “Homecoming”. Ugh.
How has your research gone?
so Georgie-boy can win just one more election. Isn’t it worth it? They volunteered……….

Now they’re all CANNON FODDER.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:23 pmRick,
None of the Republicans ever go to these funerals.
If the Dem’s were smart, they’d attend the funerals to show where the real troop loyalty lies.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:23 pmToo bad. They died for Bushs pride.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:24 pmZooey,

Rick,
October 15th, 2006 at 10:26 pmoops, meant loyalty to the troops.
