They not only were asleep, they threw out all the alarm clocks, hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the bedroom door, and locked it so no one could get in to wake them up.
Gross and flagrant dereliction of duty, and it starts with Little Bushkin, who has made a habit of exactly that all his spoiled life.

October 17th, 2006 at 12:56 pmUntil we get an explanation on two of the most obvious issues, don’t expect very many people to believe ANYTHING about this issue. Why was NORAD standing down and unarmed after so many FAA and intelligence agency warnings and what about the option calls?
Those two questions should be easy to answer — there’s a chain of command at NORAD and all option calls are recorded. Why don’t we have answers on these two questions?

And #12, and #13…. please name for me any other building that has collapsed due to fire? That question is only a political launch point because it’s hard NOT to believe that something of this magnitude was accidently overlooked.
And how is it disgracing the deaths to ask for the truth? Nothing else the administration has ever said about the war has ever been true, so why would they have been telling the truth on day 1?

There’s really do doubt at all that 9/11 worked in a stupendous way in favor of the Bush Administration, and covers that infamous point in the PNAC document. However, I think too many people are overcomplicating this. Perhaps we gave aid to bin Laden’s organization (which was NOT called al Qaeda before we gave him that name) or something to that effect to get the job done, but the government isn’t stupid enough to do the job themselves directly. if you want to do something that will harm your own country, you get someone to do it for you, therefore preventing any direct link, making the difficulty in tracing the even back to themselvs much more significant.

The way I see it… if they are alive then they did not highjack the planes… if they highjacked the planes then they are not alive.
Unless you can explain how someone can be the highjacker of a plane that blew up and still be alive… I can not take your statement seriously.
Oh – and if you are going to suggest the planes didn’t blow up… then they were not highjacked… and hence no highjackers… and if they did not blow up where did they land and where are all the passengers?

October 17th, 2006 at 6:46 pmMaybe the tooth fairy can answer the basic questions: Tooth Fairy, why was NORAD standing down and unarmed after 55 specific warnings from the FAA and specific warnings from the intelligence community. And, Fairy, why were there up to 4000 times the amount of “put” calls on United and American in the two weeks leading up to the attack while there was normal option call activity on all other airlines. Maybe you can answer these questions, tooth fairy, because our government hasn’t really addressed them. The 9-11 commission even considered criminal charges for NORAD officials because of their lack of credible testimony and they said the option call issue was “too complicated.” I’m sure our Tooth Fairy has a pat answer, though.

George W. Bush got what he wanted, ostensibly as a tool in his unfocused “war on terror”: By signing into law the Military Commissions Act of 2006, Bush has made it legal for the C.I.A. to continue operating torture facilities in undisclosed, foreign countries, and for the writ of habeas corpus to be suspended for individuals who are designated “enemy combatants” against the U.S. (Designated by whom? That question remains unanswered.) The law also “establishes military tribunals that would allow some use of evidence obtained by coercion [that is, torture], but would give defendants access to classified evidence being used to convict them.” (Reuters)
The provisions of Bush’s new torture law mean that Americans have lost the key, constitutional right on which Anglo-American criminal law (and criminal-law procedures in true democracies in general) is founded; that’s the basic right of an individual to know why he or she is being apprehended and detained. Now, technically, as in Stalin’s Soviet Union, Hitler’s Germany, Mao’s China or Pol Pot’s Cambodia, anyone labeled an “enemy combatant” – again, by whom; by Bush? – can be whisked away and never heard from again. That kind of authority, in the hands of corrupt or untruthful politicians, may or may not be an effective tool in some kind of “war on terror,” but it certainly can be a useful tool when it comes to silencing their opponents.
In an Orwellian pronouncement dutifully reported by Voice of America, the taxpayer-funded “news” service that acts as a mouthpiece for the administration, Bush said: “The United States does not torture….It is against our laws and it is against our values. By allowing the C.I.A. program to go forward, this bill is preserving a tool that has saved American lives.” Bush’s claim flies in the face of numerous reports of torture conducted by American officials at U.S. military prisons or secret locations overseas.
