“These past six years were more than just the most shameful, corrupt and incompetent period in the history of the American legislative branch. These were the years when the U.S. parliament became a historical punch line, a political obscenity on par with the court of Nero or Caligula — a stable of thieves and perverts who committed crimes rolling out of bed in the morning and did their very best to turn the mighty American empire into a debt-laden, despotic backwater, a Burkina Faso with cable.” Speaker Dennis Hastert tops their list of the ten worst congressmen.

We need to keep Rick Santorum in the Congress, so that we can have him as our president in 2008. Rick Santorum will keep us safe!!!
The guys at this site have the right idea, and I could not agree more. I think they are satire, but I wish they were not!!!
October 18th, 2006 at 12:24 pmRolling Stone magazine has told the truth > the worst Congress in American history > and most corrupt and sleazy that ever existed!
October 18th, 2006 at 12:26 pmNow here this.
October 18th, 2006 at 12:31 pmI am really proud of the inaction this congress has not taken to further freedom and its march.
They have pretty much gived me a blank check to do whatever I wanna do.
That has to be seen as a gud thing.
Go ahead, disagree, and I’ll gitmo yer ass so fast you won’t even see the black SUVs comin down yer street.

October 18th, 2006 at 12:33 pmThe entire site is satire, or can’t you read?
Obama in 08!
The democrat libnuts would just raise taxes and give money away to minorities to have bastard children.
The Democrats also want to waste money on healthcare for poor. I say let them suffer, they deserve it. America doesnt need indigent sickly minorities over-running the gene pool.
Less insured makes America a stronger country.
America will never vote for a bleeding heart tax and spend Democrat congress again.
October 18th, 2006 at 12:35 pmVote “NO” on ALL INCUMBENTS!

October 18th, 2006 at 12:35 pmYep! If any book’s written about this bunch survive, history will paint them all black and evil. Quite a legacy heir bush, but you don’t read so guess it doesn’t matter, go back to you’re booze and coloring book….Blessings, please pass them around
October 18th, 2006 at 12:36 pmAnyone who says the Democrats will “raise taxes” doesn’t realize what the Republicans have done with their ‘tax cuts’. By disproportionately skewing the taxes AWAY from the wealthiest of the wealthy, and putting more of the burden on the middle class, the Republicans have shifted the problem of debt squarely on those in the middle. The Democrats only want to put the burdenback evenly across the board. If you make more, you should pay more. It only makes sense to end these cuts for the richest, if we want to get this great country of ours back on track!
October 18th, 2006 at 12:47 pmA born-again dry drunk idiot President, bullying a do-nothing frat boy Congress, while the few people left out of the gravy train enabled them by not standing up for us, and instead protected their own job security.
There’s only one person in Washington I’m even remotely proud of.
How the HELL am I supposed to be proud of my country when I can’t have any trust, faith, or pride in any of the people running it??
October 18th, 2006 at 12:47 pmWorst President, Vice President, administration and rubber-stamping fools in Congress.
October 18th, 2006 at 12:50 pmALL bad congressman…”WORST PERSON(S) IN THE WORLD”…and the trolls who support them.
October 18th, 2006 at 12:51 pmWatch Olbermann tonight - essay on the death of habeus corpus.
October 18th, 2006 at 1:12 pmThe rubber stamp congress has given the country away to the boy-king.
I object to this insult to Burkina Faso.

I can’t vote for Dennis Kucinich, I wish I could but he’s not my Rep. Why would I vote against the only house member from my state to vote against the shrubs illegal war?
October 18th, 2006 at 1:16 pmGOP Senator OUTED As Bisexual!
18th of October 2006
by Jay Randal
Republican Sen. Larry Craig was OUTED yesterday, via the Internet News Blogs, as having sex with males in public restrooms, particularly at Union Station DC.
Young men who met him in the public restrooms have come forward, giving details of the encounters, and to give descriptions of his mannerisms and sexual organ.
Craig is known as one of the most ultra-conservative members of the Senate, with a top rating by Christian Coalition, and vehemently opposes Gay marriages too.
His seeking tawdry anonymous sexual encounters in public restrooms, with other males, are vile hypocrisy and denotes someone who is unfit to remain in Senate.
The citizenry of the United States of America expect elected Senators, and Representatives, to exemplify high standards of personal ethics and not be sleazy.
GOP massive corruption in Washington, DC, is bad enough for our nation, but sexual sleaziness makes it far worse and undermines moral values in America.
( Jay Randal, political activist and writer in Stone Mountain, Georgia.)
PS: How many more GOP Senators are closeted hypocrites?
October 18th, 2006 at 1:19 pmNow, Jay;
October 18th, 2006 at 1:38 pmJust because the extinguished Senator from IdahiHoHiHo was looking for some fun in the local shithouse doesn’t mean his fart jokes aren’t funny.
And that is what separates the frat boys from the men.
Birchbeer is nuts…Progressives ARE going to win. You better get used to it shithead. Your little kingdom is coming to an end. You may have to find some other chimp to worship or better yet, decide that WE are supposed to be in charge - not the preznit or congress. We the people. You remember those words, right? You learned a little about that in school, didn’t you? Well, what on earth could be a fair trade for your civil rights? Because you “feel” safe? Because you want to follow somebody? Can’t you use your own mind and judgement once in a while? You are not a patriot. You will have to explain your facsists leanings to your kids someday - and they will not be proud of you. Your support of bu$hco will be your shame.

I intended for you and the other thinking Americans to understand that I meant all Republican Incumbents and those other Incumbents that follow the bushco blindly regardless of Party. There are a few dedicated Office Holders that deserve to be re-elected. These Ladies and Gentlemen should not be classified as incumbent in terms of the particular definition that states they are “bent over so as to rest on or touch an underlying surface.” However, when we examine the definition in terms of most of the Rethugs we find the definition to be quite fitting: most are bent ala Delay, Ney, Hastert, e. g.; some are bent over ala Foley et. al, to be named later; they are all at rest ala “The Do Nothing Congress;” Some are toughing ala Foley above; Most are under as in “Underhanded;” Most are lying when their lips are moving; and finally the misdeeds of them all will surface on 7 November 2006. Again Vote ‘NO” on all “Incumbents!” (See above)
October 18th, 2006 at 1:59 pmRove’s October surprise may be the $100 million he’s spending in the last days of the campaign.
October 18th, 2006 at 2:11 pmIt is my wish that they spend themselves into bankruptcy, and the public is so put off by the incessant ads that they vote Democratic. They would lose $$ and lose Congress too.
Worst Congress Ever???
Tell us something we don’t know. And no.. the democrats are not the answer. They lie to us too, just about different things. I’m real tired of settling for the lesser evil. We have GOT to set our sights a little higher.
October 18th, 2006 at 2:22 pmisn’t it strange that rove, cheney, and bush are spending so much time and money helping there good old friends in congress, rather than paying attention to america’s needs.
all these guys in office are a joke.
they have time to sling mud and insult everyone while they molest teenage kids, and alot of people in america have trouble putting dinner on the table.
paris hilton and all of bush’s buddies got their tax break, i guess that’s what counts. the rest of us are left to feed off the crumbs of crumbling america.
what happened to the america we grew up in?

…still haven’t found your dad huh?
October 18th, 2006 at 2:40 pmFinally, Rolling Stone is attempting to be relevant again. I’ve seen enough Justin Timberlake and T.V. shows presented on the cover. Oh, and Birchbeer, you were being ironic right? If not you’re a knuklehead, racist piece of dung.
October 18th, 2006 at 2:53 pmWill
Sheer personal vendetta can drive them to sending just about every Republican in Washington to jail, the evidence, the bribes and the abuses are all there for them to do it. If they win and they realise that their victory is because of the hope born in the electorate that they act on their grudges, they will be unbelievably good.
The trouble is, if they choose to not act on their grudges. If they decide it is water under the bridge and they decide to act like “the better man” then you may as well vote Republican. There is a reason why anger is a positive election emotion for the Democrats right now, they need to realise that America is not happy with the Republicans and it wants to see people behind bars.
I say the problem is not whether the Democrats will lie to you, it is whether they are willing to get angry and fight. It is not whether they lie, it is whether they lie down that worries me. For once, the Democrats acting out of self interest would not be a bad thing.
October 18th, 2006 at 2:56 pmThis is so true…I mean this has to be the worst, most corrupt, most incompetent Congress in the nation’s history. I hope everyone who can will vote on Novembver 7.
October 18th, 2006 at 3:54 pm#26 - Karim,
October 18th, 2006 at 4:06 pmAnd let’s hope that none of them vote Republican - that way the Republicans may fall short of 50% of the vote.
In an election season, referring to the Bushco crime syndicate as if that were the entire Congress is a Karl Rove maneuver.
These actions are the actions of the vicious (illegally-made) majority Rapepublican side of the Congress.
Worst Congress in history? No, worst COUP in U.S. history.
Vote Democratic.
October 18th, 2006 at 4:59 pm[…] Think Progress […]

Now that’s FUNNY!!
mikey
October 18th, 2006 at 6:43 pmThe Republican-controlled Congress have been amazingly successful from the point of view of their clients–America’s wealthiest, especially shareholders of defense contractors and Big Oil. Tax cuts for the rich? Check. Get back Iraq’s oil fields? Check. Big, fat contracts for the military-industrial complext? Check. Less freedom for Americans? Check. Osama bin Laden still on the loose so he can attack us again and provide the excuse for more war profiteering and less freedom? Check!
Geez, is there anything on the G.O.P. agenda that Congress missed?
Bushian loyalty is no virtue–it’s the loyalty of thieves
October 18th, 2006 at 7:31 pmSo, George Bush has created a police sate…. anybody care?

October 18th, 2006 at 10:28 pmThis Congress has accomplished one great thing: they have destroyed the Replican Party forever.
Thanks, guys!
October 19th, 2006 at 7:17 amSetting aside birchbeer’s obviously stunted moral judgements, his arguments about taxes are all too common. Republicans have been programmed for years to fear the “tax and spend” Democrats. But there is something worse: “don’t tax and spend more” Republicans. Spending must be paid for somehow, someday. The Democrats want to pay for it from the checking account. The Republicans want to put it on a high-interest credit card.
October 19th, 2006 at 11:06 am#31 excellent and true. In my opinion, the people are dissatisfied with the Dems in Congress for one MAJOR reason: they didn’t stop BushCo. THey didn’t even try. They should have been standing with Russ Feingold rather than hiding with McCain and Company, acting like they were helpless. We don’t expect half of Congress to act like cowards. So we WILL elect NEW Dems that speak out, and oppose, and try to stop BushCo! Maybe, with fresh faces and a new understanding of the people they represent, the Democratic Party will renew and refresh it’s commitment to the PEOPLE! If they don’t, they will be out almost as fast as they went in. The Green party is starting to look REAL good. So take a warning, my Dem reps: if you act like GOP, you will be jailed with the GOP.
October 19th, 2006 at 1:01 pmCan anybody say President Pelosi? Is there anyone out there as old as me who remembers how Gerald Ford became prez?
