It doesn’t surprise me that the Republicans are pulling out all the stops to smear their Democratic opponents! What does surprise me though is the utter hypocrisy of the Republican party! They were supposed to be the ones alligned with better family values, among other positive things, but they have shown time and again just how they never follwed any of the things they preached!!!!!!! Aren’t people just a little incensed that ELECTED officials are being made into domestic terrorists by pundit fiat? Is Tom Delay really absent from the scene? I don’t think so. Why isn’t anyone from the accuser party saying that along with pedophilia, lying to voters about intentions regarding a War, controlled government spending and derogatory abuse of the Constitution leaves a horrible trail of victims as well? I guess as long as you just have sex with your first, second or third, page, excuse me, wife, it’s ok.

Republicans are scared stupid, backed into a corner and getting uglier by the minute. Unless they find a way to steal it, they’re going to be watching Democratic legislators setting the agenda for all committees come next year.

That’s simple: incrementally higher rates on the wealthiest Americans and targeted tax cuts to the working middle class and the poor. That way, you not only have nice corporate profits, but lower poverty rates, lower crime, less abortion. In other words, all boats rise. It’s been done and we got the longest and biggest peacetime expansion of our economy in history. If we didn’t have a compromised conservative corporate media, we’d even have a name for this approach. It would be called CLINTONOMICS!

The House of Representatives [official website] had approved [JURIST report] its own version of the bill [HR 6166 text] Wednesday by a vote of 253-168 [roll call], but House leaders decided to forego the process of reconciling the two nearly-identical sets of legislation in the interests of getting the measure passed before Congress adjourned. The president is expected to sign the measure soon.”

The House adjourned pursuant to H. Con. Res. 483. The next meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on November 9, 2006.

A Pocket Veto is when the President fails to sign a bill within the 10 days allowed by the Constitution.
Congress must be in adjournment in order for a pocket veto to take effect.

If Congress is in session and the president fails to sign the bill, it becomes law without his signature.
