  11. RUCerious says:

Wait till they see Emperor Palpatine’s name on the list!

  12. Art says:

Cheney will fight like hell over this. The issue will become the fight for the records rather than the records themselves.
Then, when the information is eventually revealed, there won’t be much there anyway.
It’s an old magician’s trick. Keep the audience looking at your right hand, while you make the quarter disappear into your pocket with your left hand.

  13. barfly says:

It’s the Secret Service who are fighting the logs’ release. This another area that must be investigated when democrats return to leadership: the politicization of the Secret Service.

  14. budpaul says:

Since when does this administration follow orders from activist judges; I’ll be in the corner holding my breath waiting on this.

  15. Can't be fooled again says:

Cheney can instruct secret service to release the names and they will. Come on big guy, don’t hide behind the secret service you five deferement wuss.

  16. Hardy+Haberman says:

    And the list:

    Jack Abramoff
    Jeff Gannon
    Lucifer

  17. Pity+The+Fool says:

Stories have been written again and again that the Secret Service does not have the visitor records — after a month they put the records on a CD and give them to the White House and the National Archives (beginning after 2004). Then the Secret Service destroys their own records.

It is the White House that has the records – - which is why we STILL don’t know how many times Abramoff or Jeff Gannon/Guckert or anyone else in the rogues’ gallery visited.

Let’s see who the Veep is visiting with…Yes! We’ll see the dail chats with Pat Robertason, the nightly visits by shadowy male strippers and those late-night orgy’s with Abramoff. Yes!

At least the Dems are out-raising the crooked GOP http://polibuzz.blogspot.com/2006/10/dccc-raises-some-serious-cash.html
heading into the election. Even the rich fat-cats who worshipped W and the GOP have deserted them Yes!

  19. CoffinsDrapedWithFlags says:

Anyone investing Dick Cheney will be declared an enemy combatent by George Bush and will immediately be sent out of the country to be tortured and jailed until death or eternity whichever comes first.

  20. dlet says:

I would like to know how this newspaper’s request to see the visitor log could legally make the Veep do so. Is there a law that states that government official’s visitor logs have to made public? Has this always been the case for past administrations? Just want to know the where this issue sprang from and why it is being handled the way it is.

  21. David+B says:

How do we know if those records even exist any longer? They may have been ordered to be distroyed. That wouldn’t surprize me with old darth.

  22. Pity+The+Fool says:

    Diet:
There is strong precedent for releasing visitor logs. Bill Clinton’s administration was repeatedly forced to release the access (WAVES) logs during the litany of investigations during his administration (FBI-Filegate, Fostergate, Lewinskygate, Travel Officegate, Coffeegate, Johnny Ching Asiagate).

Bush and Cheney and their staffs are trying to re-claim the Nixonian high ground of “executive privilege” where the workings of the President and the VP (as well as their senior staffs) can be secret and their meetings can be considered privileged.

Only it doesn’t work that way. They are elected public officials and US law, particularly the Freedom of Information Act, compels public release of government records. They have no right to privacy on that accord.

  23. Mike Politik says:

Bwahahahaha…..those damn liberal judges and their “activism”. Schiavo would still be “alive” if the judges hadnt killed her.

Cheney will do nothing…..has anyone seen Scooter Libby?

  24. Wayne says:

    And the list:

    Jack Abramoff
    Jeff Gannon
    Lucifer
    Comment by Hardy+Haberman

You mean Cheney visited himself? Interesting…

  25. PatrioticLiberalChristian(PLC) says:

The offices (physically and as positions) belong to us, the American people. We have a right to know who visits them and what business is conducted in them. If the politicians want privacy, they can meet people in their homes. Cough it up, Cheney.

  26. swampfox says:

go for cheney’s visitor logs AND energy docs. time to round up this sleaze-wad and the rest of the neo-criminals.

  27. dlet says:

    Pity The Fool,
Thanks. I thought it might be as simple as the Freedom of Information Act but I wasn’t sure if there was some specific reason.

  28. USAF_vet says:

    #22 Dlet

Doesn’t matter that they we able to get Clinton’s log. You must be in a pre-9/11 mindset. They *will* claim executive priviledge (or some other “security” reason). TERRORISTS, TERROR, FEAR!!!

Transparency in gov’t? What a concept?

  29. Jess Wundrun says:

#24 – Lucifer and Cheney have never been photographed together have they?

    Hmmm.

  30. RUCerious says:

Yes, executive privilege. Or consulting, or deliberation, or cavorting, or visits by lobbyists, or corporate counsel or …?

  31. ForTruth says:

#24 – Lucifer and Cheney have never been photographed together have they?

    Hmmm.

    Comment by Jess Wundrun

Yes they have, except Lucifer never shows up in the picture.

  32. Marie says:

Who is that “activist” judge? How dare anyone challenge Cheney?
Don’t tell him about law – he is the law; just ask him. He’ll get his lawyers to stall, stonewall and generally drag this out for the next two years if necessary.
The White House HAS the records on disc on file. THEY are the ones stonewalling this. But the SS will be a temporary distraction.

  33. Zooey says:

Badmoodman got there before me with “R.E. Dacted” having a lot of visits. Damn…

All in the interest of “national security,” of course.

There will be many visits from the puppy farm, where “Dick” gets his daily dose of fresh puppy blood.

  34. big+papa says:

    Pity the Fool #5

    ..Bring L’il Dick over t’ my pad…

…hand me that copy of the damn MCA…

…and then draw me some “bath” water :) …

    heheheheheheheh!
