$34,000.

The amount conservative pundit Armstrong Williams will have to repay of the $240,000 government contract he received for promoting President Bush’s agenda. Under a settlement reached with prosecutors, Williams also “admits no wrongdoing.”

Could they get him to admit to wrong being?

  2. Dog_named_Boo says:

I have to repay 34,000 because I did nothing wrong.

    That dog wont hunt.

  3. Wilco says:

So what charges have been filed against the government for paying him for propaganda?

  4. Wilco says:

And if the government did nothing wrong, isn’t it entrapment?

  5. Wilco says:

So the government took him to court for following the terms of his contract with them? So it’s a $34,000 joke?

Propaganda is now a central creed of the American goverment.
Anything to support the position of superwealth and power.
Anything to belittle the middle class and the powerless.
American democracy is showing the signs of total failure. And the administration is loving it.
    How unamerican can they be?

Great. And can someone tell me why this piece of garbage is now on Air America Radio in the mornings!!!

I’m going to listen to a once secretly paid media stooge of this administration on a supposedly “progressive” station.

Want to know exactly how far AAR has fallen? They started with Marc Maron in the mornings; now they have Armstrong Williams. They fired Mike Malloy but hired Armstrong Williams.

Nice job, AAR. So far you have operated similar fashion to the Democratic establishment. As soon as someone speaks truth to power and says something you’re uncomfortable with, they get the axe. I like Al Franken; he’s a funny, smart guy. During his time on SNL, he penned some of the most brilliant political skits of all time. But he is most certainly NOT a progressive. He’s a traditional liberal Democrat. He’s a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton. Check out his knee-jerk support of Israel during the recent slaughter of Lebanese civilians during the Israeli-Lebanon conflict; he stated, like many on the right, that there was no moral equivalence between the deaths of Israeli and Lebanese civilians. (Not so ironically, many believe it was Malloy’s speaking out about Israel’s actions that got him shit-canned.)

If AAR doesn’t make another abrupt change of course, then they – like spineless, appeasing members of the Democrat Party – don’t deserve our support.

    I want my $240,000 back.

  9. Zimzone says:

He also spewed mucho promo garbage to educators on how
great ‘Every Child Left Behind’ would turn out to be.
Are you kidding me? He’s on Air America now?
    WTF?

  10. Pete_Bogs says:

they always “admit no wrongdoing” in a settlement, but who believes that? you don’t just give large sums of money to anyone who asks… who does this guy think he’s fooling?

  11. SpudgeBoy says:

He is only paying back what he was overpayed, not anything else.

  12. And+You+Thought+REAGAN+Was+Stupid says:

Isn’t it the Repubs who are always saying “you know how to spend your money better than the Government does.” It’s certainly true when the RepubliCROOKS are in office.

    The Bush Administration:

Come for the propaganda, stay for the quagmire.

  14. detepe says:

ARMSTRONG WILLIAMS IS NOT EMPLOYED BY AIR AMERICA

Some wacky company may air his show on the same station that broadcasts some Air America programs, but he’s not part of the Air America group.

    Egads

Tell me what to say and I’ll do it for $$$$$

    Wheeeee!!!

Now, that’s REAL capitalism in action!

    :-P

  16. WaltTheMan says:

I could come up with 34 grand. Is there anyone out there willing to give me 240 grand in return?

  17. Marie says:

Isn’t that too bad – I feel sorry for him. HA!
He should repay what he owes, with interest – and the criminal who bribed him should also be charged.

  18. Marie says:

Armstrong Williams is NOT on Air America.

  19. Jeanne says:

Armstrong got off easy? That’s good. When the Democrats or the Green Party become the majority the Republicans can just eat it when they don’t like what happens. I don’t want to listen to their whining. Newt Gingrich included.

The prosecutors cave, in order to make an ugly case go away…..and fail miserably.
