Fox News Warns Viewers Of Upcoming Socialist Revolution

Today on Fox News, Neil Cavuto had a segment asking whether Democrats will “crush the economy” if they win November’s elections. One of the guests, Jonathan Hoenig, said they would, because Democrats’ “overriding philosophy is socialism.”

How about when the Fox news studios are stormed and hijacked right on live TV?

  2. Heterodoxy says:

Will Fox actually cover news instead of asking retarded questions?

  3. ForTruth says:

“Will Fox News make it to the next decade?”

  4. TheToonGuy says:

Yep, just like they did during the 8 years Clinton was in charge.

  5. s says:

Wow, these – - – -ers mean business. They are truely Nazis. Time to oust them. It’s either that or live in a world where no one cares about anyone, it’s dog eat dog, and there is no more beauty or truth. Take your pick

  6. RUCerious says:

Will Republicans lie their asses off to try to keep power?
Our next guest will analyze the lying liars and the lies they are lying about.

  7. JJ says:

Right. If there’s anything Dems want, it’s state ownership of everything. Sure.

Come on Fox, get a clue!

  8. RUCerious says:

Some people might say Fox news is the station preferred by pedophiles and racist fear mongering frat boys.

  9. TheTruthHurts says:

The French appeasers will raise taxes.

  10. dlet says:

What can the Dems crush? The largest deficeit ever? The largest trade gap with China ever? the destruction of the middle class? Oh…..they mean we’ll repeal the tax give aways to the rich. Now the question makes sense. Yes I hope the Dems will crush those tax breaks.

  11. Albert says:

Trust Fox to divorce from reality and then try to commit a double suicide, taking reality with it.

Who has mortgaged America, putting us all into dept? The Republicans.

Who has kept the stock market at 1.5% growth? The Republicans.

The Republicans have thrown out fiscal responsibility for kleptomania, America. It is time to throw them out.

How did the economy do when the democrats were in power? Better than ever.

  12. Your Conscience says:

Will TP continue to censor my next post?

    What gives?
It was on topic, no links, and asked a valid question.

    Why the censorship TP?

    The DOW:
    Clinton: begin 3200 -> 10900 end
    Bush: begin 10900 -> 12100 now

Clinton – up 226 % – Bush up 14 % (and not adjusted for inflation)

Yep – those Republicans are good running the economy!

  15. unitynow says:

Faux News should be retitled ‘GOP NEWS’ because they are the official front for the GOP propaganda machine. It’s great that most lucid, intelligent, educated americans won’t give their show the time of day. It’s a comedy show, isn’t it?

  16. RealScientist says:

Jonathan Hoenig is a complete idiot. He is the guy who keeps saying (on Fox, naturally) that the stock market will go up if we attack Iran.

  17. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Jonathan Hoenig is a capitalist pig. That’s not an insult, that’s what he calls his consulting firm (Capitalistpig, LLC). What I don’t like about him, and why I think it’s bad for him to be on TV, is that he believes that making money is the ONLY important thing. It doesn’t matter what you’re trying to accomplish (be it save lives, clean the air and water, or make the world a safer place for the next generations), he believes that if you can’t make money doing it, it’s not worth doing. I don’t enjoy wishing harm on people, so I’ll just wish for him to suffer huge, crippling financial losses, and in such a way that he has no chance to make it all back. To me, that would be fitting.

  28. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

Those Democrats….created a business climate that resulted in unprecedented economic growth and a $1 trillion national surplus…damn commies.

  29. unitynow says:

What economy is Faux News referring to? The fake, illegal immigrant economy that they’ve facilitated and enabled (at the risk of not securing our safety through our borders) or the “real economy”; that is, what it would be if the illegals were put out of work?? NYC alone would shut down for the day if they did that!

  30. Solitaire says:

Jason, I only wish they could delete you. You have been messing with this blog for as long as I’ve been around, and if Raw Story has HAD ENOUGH, well, it’s about time.

  31. ForTruth says:

Daryll, all you are is an amplifier. Do you have any of your own thoughts about the economy?

  32. Solitaire says:

Oops. Think Progress probably is pretty surprised that the name of the blog has changed. :)

  33. RUCerious says:

Yes, Daryll, you too can offer worship and animal sacrifices to Mr Hoenig. Praise and worship to his Hoenigship!

  34. Wayne A. Schneider says:

There is no rational, logical basis for the idiotic claim that a Democratic win in November means doom and gloom for everyone, including investors. This is just pure bullshit, and there is no eveidence whatsoever that it is true.

Now, maybe those who are so stinking rich living off unearned income (such as dividends and trust funds) that they don’t have to work for a living might see their income drop a bit due to higher taxes, but since they will be able to survive just fine on what they have left over, and since they will make even more when the economy does better for everyone, I will shed no tears for them.

  35. JaneESchneider says:

Is it me, or does that guy look like the ‘bat boy’ that you see on the covers of tabloids like Weekly World News, etc.?

    -GSD

  38. unitynow says:

Really….I concur totally that “those democrats managed to present this administration with a three trillion dollar surplus, didn’t they?” How dare they be so fiscally responsible when the GOP has been fiscally irresponsible in taking that deficit and now amassing a 9 trillion+ deficit? How dare they??

What they really mean is that the tax breaks to the most wealthy may be tampered with….

  39. Yikes says:

“Thank the lord I’m not the only one that can view the turmoil if liberals take over. This is one of my issues I discussed in a previous post. Libs take over=Economy down the drain.”

That’s right Daryll, don’t look at the realities of the past 12 years. By the way, God called, there is recall on born again brains. Turns out that some dip switches were flipped when Fox got a news station.

  40. AnAmerican says:

Come on Darryl, obviously you know how to crush an economy based on a weak dollar, massive debt and record trade deficits.

Just tell me how it’s done.

  41. RUCerious says:

Yikes – Are you sure those weren’t dip shit switches?
Those switch your brains from regular to shit mode.

    Comment by Daryll — October 23, 2006 @ 4:52 pm

Well, Daryll, everyone here knows you are a complete idiot. Like that remark about how Bush is an honest man. Pure psychosis.

  43. Martin says:

Thats funny… and here I was thinking the dems overriding philosophy was pandering to the center-right

  44. Daryll says:

You stinking libs anger me, all you want to do is over-tax the rich. You guys are nuts, the rich spend more, which will keep our economy stable. I don’t trust your party anyway. Remember Clinton and NAFTA? He outsourced jobs, and you libs never said one Gogolee Moglee thing.

  45. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

The latest poll shows that nearly 80% of Americans believe we are not winning any war in Iraq. Looks like the will of the majority will trump the lies of the minority.

  46. Yikes says:

RUCerious, you could call them dip shit switches as they reverse the flow in the body resulting in shit getting stuck in your head. There is no easy way to flick the switch back unfortunately. Once the shit hits the brain it renders the person useless to society. Deprogramming requires facts and facts just run right through shit. Tough situation for Daryll et al.

  47. ForTruth says:

and you libs never said one Gogolee Moglee thing.

    Comment by Daryll

Such language, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

  48. AnAmerican says:

Clinton and NAFTA? Darryll, Dude, someone lied to you.

Clinton inherited NAFTA, so, tell me who’s been lying to you?

Someone made you uninformed, do us a favor, and tell us who it was.

  49. RealScientist says:

Daryll, the rich have been making out like bandits while everyone else’s standard of living has been sinking. They are hardly overtaxed. Virtually all economic growth of the past 25 years in the U.S. has gone to the top 5%. They are using you. Get a clue.

  50. RUCerious says:

Please Daryll, don’t get angry! Your Jeebus might strike us down with lightning and brimstone if you do!
Let’s make sure that all your rich friends take their camel shrinking lessons, cause remember, it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for, um.. what was it now???

  51. Bluedog49 says:

Brother Daryll: “Libs take over=Economy down the drain.”

Quick question for our bible-thumpin joker: which party controlled the executive branch during the longest peacetime expansion of our economy in history?

  52. Briseadh na Faire says:

45 – calm down, “Christian” and remember to turn the other cheek.

NAFTA was the worst thing Clinton did for the American worker, as well as for immigrant labor. So why did it pass? Because Big Business favors de-regulation. (With NAFTA the borders were deregulated for business but not for the worker.) Yet history shows that unregulated Captialism ultimately fails.

And Socialism is, simply put, regulated Capitalism, with government ownership and control over a select few industries; those which are social in nature, such as health care, for example.

  53. Vincennes says:

It’s a wonder that the United States survived for so long with the Dems in control of Congress and/or the White House. Apparently for Repugs, Year Zero started in 2000. What a bunch of freaking idiots.

  54. ForTruth says:

    Daryll,

It’s easier to pass a thermous through a eurethra, than to read your posts.

  55. John+the+Elder says:

  56. oxillini says:

Wait, I thought the economy wasn’t attributable to the party in power? No one would give Clinton/Gore credit in 2000. So carry on capitalism, you have nothing to fear.

  57. Pat says:

If investors really believed this — that Dems will crush the economy — and with the polls favoring Dems in the election, then why aren’t they selling their stocks? Instead, investors are BUYING and the stock market is at record highs. Apparently a Democratic controlled congress doesn’t worry investors and one could make the argument that they actually favor it!

  58. SpudgeBoy says:

    Remember Clinton

Of course, how could we go one post without one of these jackass trolls saying it’s Clinton’s fault.

  59. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

God wants Republicans to be rich. It’s right in the Bible: Chapter 11, verse 21, paragraph 2. “All ye Republicans who are rich will be welcomed into heaven by the almighty himself. No Democrats will be allowed under any circumstances. Vote Republican.”

  60. AnAmerican says:

2 rwingnuts lying about Clinton and NAFTA, wow, the republicans must have really screwed something up.

  61. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Daryll,

Why shouldn’t we over-tax people who don’t work for a living because they live off the dividends from their investments or from family trusts? Because they might have to go out and find a friggin’ job??? Spare me the nonsense about how much they spend. If they spent all their money, they wouldn’t be millionaires! They’re millionaires because they DON’T spend their money. They keep it for their greedy little selves and their greedy little children. Well, there are starving fellow Americans who could use some of that money. I’m sure it’s what Jesus would suggest we do. Don’t you? (Or are you going to try to convince us that Jesus was a supply-sider?)

  62. marblex says:

why anyone pays attention to trolls like daryll i don’t know. he isn’t here for discussion, discourse or anything other than to poll parrot the party line, hurl invectives and insults at “lubruls” and argue argue argue. While there understandably isn’t anything else going on in his trailer park, Im sure you folks all do have better things to do than play whackatroll.

He’s probably a paid detractor, with income supplemented by food stamps and free lunches provided courtesy of liberal aka humanitarian people like us.

  66. Daryll says:

Bluedog49, that was all because of the emergence of the internet. Dems had nothing to do with the Information Technology portion.

  68. Daryll says:

    AnAmerican, you’re in denial.

  70. oxillini says:

Bluedog49, that was all because of the emergence of the internet. Dems had nothing to do with the Information Technology portion.

    Comment by Daryll — October 23, 2006 @ 5:38 pm

So, which portion of the index are the Republicans responsible for? Energy? Transportation?

  71. Killer Whale says:

From: “Democratic House No Pox on Stocks
    By Liz Rappaport

“At present, a Democratic win in the House of Representatives is largely priced into the stock market, which has rallied to new highs through the campaign process thus far. Futures markets put the likelihood of a Democratic takeover, or at least 15 net wins in the House, at 63.1%, according to InTrade.”

So, Darryl – many of your Conservative GOP brothers and sisters who actually pull the trigger to buy stocks for the big mutual funds realize that the Dems will probably control the House of Representaitves and don’t seem to be nearly as concerned about it as you are …

    Why is that Darryl?

Because if they were to embrace and act upon the delusional notions that you embrace everyday – they would get f#cking fired.

    Comment by Wayne A. Schneider — October 23, 2006 @ 5:36 pm

In the new, post 9/11, neo-con annotated version of the Bible, Jesus is also in favor of oil wars, invasion of nations that pose no threat, torture of prisoners, wanton prostitution of religion for political gains, and exempting the responsible from any accountability.

Really, Wayne, try to keep up.

    /sarcasm off

  74. AnAmerican says:

    #69 Denial?

I don’t think you not coming up with a strategy for wrecking an economy based on massive debt, record deficits and a weak dollar has anything to do with me being in denial, it only has to do with you being FOS.

  75. AnAmerican says:

#71, you really need a NAFTA timeline.

Go find one. Or, I’ll find one for you.

  76. Daryll says:

marblex, I don’t have to prove myself to you or anybody else. I’m a systems engineer working for an IT consulting firm, and I have high credentials as well as merit. I believe you republicans want to convert our country into a communist state. You create/complete business deals using your gut feeling instead of using logic and intuition. That’s what agitates me. Leave the rich alone. They do spend a rather substantial amount each year, but they also make smart investments to maintain their self worth.

  77. Mygod! says:

Don’t know whats worse, the people who blindly follow or bash fox news. Do any of you honestly think the Democrats will solve any of this “corporatism” you talk about? Both parties are corrupt.

  78. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

When did Clinton’s unprecendented economic growth coupled with a trillion dollar surplus come to mean wrecking an economy? More republican spin, I see.

  79. El+Tonno says:

Oh noes! We are moving towards La Commune de Washington. This is going to be bloody when the Marines have to move in to crush the Red Rebellion!

Anyway Congress will have its hands full to keep the economy up and running satisfactorily. Basically, it’s go to tax more and spend less. And if it’s Democrats, you can imagine the scene.

A lot of bad things can happen soon:

Danger of China appreciating the yuan (Inflation!)
Danger of China NOT appreciating the yuan (Jobs moving away!)
Housing market slows down seriously (Economic slowdown)
    Oil prices go up (Inflation)
Other countries stop financing the US current-account deficit (Inflation!)
Other countries do NOT stop financing the US current-account deficit (Corporations are being taken over by them furreigners! Where do you think those exported Dollars will go…)

  80. SpudgeBoy says:

Bluedog49, that was all because of the emergence of the internet. Dems had nothing to do with the Information Technology portion.

    Comment by Daryll — October 23, 2006 @ 5:38 pm

    Daryll,

Shows that he clearly does not work in the technology industry. Every engineer I have met is anti-Bush. All of them. You know why? Because they are logical people. Most of them are not religious. They don’t base stuff on faith. The are based in reality and only believe what they can touch, see, feel, smell.

The liberals are responsible for technology. If it wasn’t for liberals, the conservatives would have you study your Bible by candle light like the Amish.

  81. And+You+Thought+REAGAN+Was+Stupid says:

Darryl: I don’t trust Republicans either. They protect corporations that set up overseas tax shelters and pay little or no money back to the United States, the country in which the corporation was founded and where its operational headquarters resides. There are many, many other reasons not to trust the Republicans — most have been demonstrated in the past five years, including corruption, bribery, pedophilia, incompetence, big government, and record deficits.

  82. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #74 Gregor,

You’re right. I forgot to update my bible. I only have this one that I stole from some place (I forget where, but I think a hotel was involved, and the statute of limitations has run out, so that doesn’t matter any more.)

I suppose I can pick up a new one at the White House Gift Shop. :)

  83. And+You+Thought+REAGAN+Was+Stupid says:

The simple fact is, when you look at the economy (as one of many examples), the Clinton administration was far more successful than the Bush administration. Democrats know how to get things done.

  84. Bluedog49 says:

Mygod: “Do any of you honestly think the Democrats will solve any of this “corporatism” you talk about? Both parties are corrupt.”

I hear you, but right now the most important thing is oversight and accountability. Besides, Dems are marginally more likely to regulate big corporations and marginally more likely to take legislative steps which diminish the influence of corporations. Pelosi’s “first 100 hours”, for example, includes legislation to break the ties between legislators and corporate lobbyists with respect to writing laws.

  85. Daryll says:

SpudgeBoy, well I’m the first of the few that do exist. It is my job to test and process government systems/programs.

  86. ggibson says:

    #81

Not to say that all tech people are anti-Republican which isnt true… most tech people like a strong capitalist society… but I have not met a single pro-Bush tech person ever myself and I am a software engineer… and that isnt just because of all the bad news lately… I have not met a single software engineer or tech person that was pro Bush even from 2000 … there must be some out there some where though…

  87. Killer+Whale says:

    #67

    Darryl

You should stick to what you know … which unfortunately isn’t very much.

The groundwork for the boom in the economy post 1992 was the result of the work between Clinton and Greenspan and Rubin while Clinton was still President-elect.

Unlike the current administration – Clinton, a Democrat, was willing to take sound advice from a member of another party – Greenspan, a Republican.

    Circa 1998 …

This is the best economy I’ve ever seen in 50 years of studying it every day,” Greenspan told Clinton.”

There had been a boom in productive capital. Money that businesses were spending was yielding an extraordinary return because of increased worker productivity. The computer and high technology investments were paying off. And those payoffs had to be real, because the higher profits and economic growth had continued for several years now.

I guess Mr. Alan Greenspan – a Republican – is another one of those so-called “damn liberals” that anger you – eh?

  88. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

When you look at the history of the American economy it shows that Democrats have always been better than Republicans at running it…unless you believe that strong economies are a bad thing.

  89. Kelso says:

    77 Daryll said:

“I believe you republicans want to convert our country into a communist state. ”

I don’t trust them either, but I think they are more interested in a theocratic fascist state.

  90. RUCerious says:

systems engineer working for an IT consulting firm, and I have high credentials as well as merit. I believe you republicans want to convert our country into a communist state.
Daryll, please tell me which systems you are working on, so I am sure not to endanger my life or my family’s by using anything you are helping to produce!
I disagree that republicans want to convert our country into a communist state, more like a fascist state…

  91. Daryll says:

ggibson, I understand, in college, my computer science professor tried to give our class a lecture about the progression of information technology, but he was careful about categorizing certain political parties that he felt attempted to hinder this progression. I still believe Rebublicans have helped our economy extensively. I agree with Republican morals/values. Science says it’s impossible for Jesus to exist (Evolution Theory), but in my spiritual relationship with god, I know he’s real. Unlike you liberals, I can separate science from religion.

  92. RUCerious says:

Daryll, what software do you use for black box testing?
Do you use UML? How many and which software languages are you proficient in??

  93. Daryll says:

Kelso, I meant liberals, not republicans.

  94. Ian Bruce says:

Whoever (or whatever) writes the FOX “News” ticker is channeling fortune cookies from Mars.

  95. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Unlike you liberals, I can separate science from religion.

    Comment by Daryll

Actually, Daryll, that is precisely what we do. It’s the ones who can’t separate religion from reality that frighten some of us.

  96. Gregor Samsa says:

Science says it’s impossible for Jesus to exist (Evolution Theory),
    Comment by Daryll — October 23, 2006 @ 6:18 pm

Science says nothing about Jesus, don’t be dense.

And the theory of evolution most certainly does not say Jesus could not have lived.

Unlike you liberals, I can separate science from religion.

Obviously you cannot -you don’t even know what science, or the theory of evolution is, let alone separate it from religion.

  97. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

Yes, Jesus really was born of a virgin, really did put someone’s ear back on and really did come back from the dead. And Santa Claus really does have flying reindeer, really does visit everyone’s house on Christmas Eve (Christians only), and really does keep a list of whose naughty and nice.

  98. RUCerious says:

    Second request…
Daryll, what software do you use for black box testing?
Do you use UML? How many and which software languages are you proficient in??

  99. Wilco says:

Science doesn’t say God can’t exist. Science simply can’t address the existence of a god as there is no OBSERVABLE PHENOMENA. Religion is faith. It can’t prove or disprove the existence of god.

  100. RUCerious says:

Three strikes and you’re out Daryll…
Third request… what software do you use for black box testing?
Do you use UML? How many and which software languages are you proficient in??

  101. RUCerious says:

    B-True
I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back with some lame thing about not testing aircraft components. He could always look up UML on the internets if he looks long enough at the right tube.

  102. Bluedog49 says:

Daryll: “Science says it’s impossible for Jesus to exist (Evolution Theory), but in my spiritual relationship with god, I know he’s real. Unlike you liberals, I can separate science from religion.”

Where would one begin if trying to make sense out of that?

  103. Wayne says:

Daryll writes — :”I don’t have to prove myself to you or anybody else. I’m a systems engineer working for an IT consulting firm, and I have high credentials as well as merit.”

Toot your own horn, what credentials?
I happen to be working for a major computer manufacturer, have been a unix system administrator and certified in every current OS, as well as hardware. I can use VI in my sleep, which I learned to do in my sleep fixing unix servers at 2 am.
Certs are a dime a dozen, its what you can do that matters in the IT world, I have fired people with certs that couldnt find their way on the prompt.

” I believe you republicans want to convert our country into a communist state. You create/complete business deals using your gut feeling instead of using logic and intuition. That’s what agitates me. ”

No, Republicans want to turn this into a fascist state, which they are well on the way of accomplishing that goal

The Democrats want to bring out democracy back to “We the People”

You really are a piece of work Daryll. You obviously are an idiot when talking poilitics and history.

Since you are an IT engineer here is a question, in your own words, how would you first open file on a unix server, then edit the file, then save it, using the VI editor?

List all keystrokes and commands, you have 5 minutes.

Lets see how good a systems engineer you really are.

  111. ggibson says:

ggibson, I understand, in college, my computer science professor tried to give our class a lecture about the progression of information technology, but he was careful about categorizing certain political parties that he felt attempted to hinder this progression. I still believe Rebublicans have helped our economy extensively. I agree with Republican morals/values. Science says it’s impossible for Jesus to exist (Evolution Theory), but in my spiritual relationship with god, I know he’s real. Unlike you liberals, I can separate science from religion.

I grew extremely right wing .. I saw pat robertson on TV all the time here in Indiana. I never even considered while growing up that I would some day vote democrat. As I grew up and realized that the preachers were fakes that were raking in the cash and having sex with women they were not married to and had often through out history acted as the source of mass murder. I decided that Jesus was real and all these people were anti-christs… that means the modern christian religion is a farse. Republican “morals” is a farse.

Science (evolution) explains how Jesus and all the rest of us came into being. It was the Roman Emporer Constatine and his subserviant “bishops” that dreamed up all the mythology around Jesus. Jesus needs no immortal soul to be the great that he is. Just as Ghandi does not and neither does Buddha. Your twisted view of Jesus is a farse.

If you have personally read the parts of the bible about Jesus then you surely know that Jesus has no place in a decision that includes war. Jesus had all the opportunity he could have wanted to join in with the anti-Roman rebels and fight to the death. That simply was not his message. And for you to try to make it otherwise is no different than the people that used to burn women to the stake in the name of “Jesus”.

Morality can be logically deduced just as easily as a computer program can. It does not take mysticism nor self-righteousness. The ONLY point you on the right have over the left is the very point that is also anti-Jesus… and that is WAR is sometimes neccessary. Jesus NEVER said he thought that was true… I simply would disagree with him on that point, but agree with him on all others. So you cannot have it both ways.. either you believe in Jesus 100% and so must renounce all money and become a bleeding heart tree hugger like Jesus…. OR you say the way of Jesus is the way we should TRY to live our lives and when outsiders attempt violence against us despite our Jesus ways THEN we defend ourselves with WAR… and not until then.

That is why I can honestly agree with WWII and see that the Bush Iraq war is mass murder. It is a simple equation really. We were NOT attacked by Iraq. So killing them is MURDER.

    Simple enough isnt it?

  112. Bluedog49 says:

Good gracious! You don’t say! Ever seen how the bible was put together? A guy comes from the desert, awes everyone. People write stuff up, people make stuff up, people make allegories up. A lot chapters are thrown out or lost, others are added after the fact, some heretics are chased down for writing their own interpretations, the translation is foobared a few times, some dogma comes from the papal seat… enjoy. And who could forget the Crusades to kill thousands of Muslims in order to convert the rest. There is also the good old fashion inquisition where thousnads of Jews were killed to convert the rest.

This seems like an appropriate time to share this link:

    http://www.care2.com/news/member/362617688/194989

Simply put, faith is faith. The most logical and pragmatic among us are those who are Athiests. The rest of us, myself included, suspend some portion of logic for our spirituality. Since there is no objective method of proving spirituality, or faith, no one of us can ultimately claim possession of The Truth. Each of us lives within a belief system we are comfortable with.

I also have a tremendous respect for Unbelievable, and for Mr. Schneider, as they do not attempt to foster their beliefs on anyone else, and are respectful of mine. Such is the way it should be. It is more than tolerance, it is acceptance of our differences and mutual respect for our fellow human beings, no matter which path they follow.

My harshest criticism is for those who profess their faith, yet do not live it. For they profess a false faith. And, in most belief systems, “God is gonna get you for that.”

Wrong. This is a serious distortion of Darwin’s explanation, and goes contrary to what we know about the human lineage.

    this defies Genesis Chapter 1.

It only defies it if you read the Bible literally. Put it another way: Your interpretation of the Bible is incorrect, but you are too arrogant to even consider that possibility.

The literal interpretation of the Bible has been abandoned by most Christian denominations, because it contradicts our every day experience, and our current knowledge of the world.

Jesus created Adam and Eve, that’s how we emerged as humans in society today.

Wrong. Jesus dit not create Adam nor Eve.

You have some serious knowledge gaps. It doesn’t speak too well of Oral Roberts University.

  174. TerrytheTurtle says:

Thanks Gregor, I really didn’t have the interest to read what Darryl had to say on Darwin. I was simply blown away that a university named after a man who says he saw a 900ft tall Jesus could graduate anyone with a science degree.

If Darryl says that Genesis 1 is literally true, then all the fundamental laws of the Universe go out the window. Bye bye, the speed of light as byuilding block. No speed of light, no Maxwell’s Theory. No Maxwell’s Theory, no computers or electricity and then the teaching of Computer Science is a branch of theoology, and Darryl should be offering a prayer the the Flying Spaghetti Monster every time he logs on or turn on a light….

The silly religious comments make many of us – myself included – angry. Particularly after seeing the GOP use religion as a wedge issue. And hearing a president claim that his decision to invade a country came from God. And knowing that most of these GOP characters that talk the talk don’t even come close to walking the walk.

Meanwhile, back on topic. Anybody notice that Bush had shifted focus from the War on Terror to his economic record just prior to this Fox Report?

    I give you this:

Bush shifts his message to the economy
Cites job gains since ‘03 but not U.S. economy’s now-slowing momentum

    Oct. 23, 2006. 06:55 AM

    DAVID OLIVE
Hard landing for the economy? Ahead of Nov. 7 congressional elections in the United States, George W. Bush is not turning up the scare meter on the war on terror but trying hard to spin his economic record. His “pro-growth policies have worked,” Bush said Oct. 11, citing gains of 6.6 million new jobs since August 2003, and a jobless rate of 4.6 per cent. In fact, the U.S. economy is turning from sluggish to stagnant.

    And this:

Bush seeks to switch focus to economy
    Financial Times
    By Edward Luce in Washington

President George W. Bush on Monday sought to change the subject from the deteriorating situation in Iraq by focusing on the strength of the US economy just two weeks before America goes to the polls in mid-term congressional elections.

    and finally, this:

Bush to trumpet strength of the economy

    10/23/2006, 11:11 p.m. ET
    By DEB RIECHMANN
    The Associated Press

It’s interesting to note only the Canadian article is critical of Bush on the economy.

You know what irritates me with Christians? Idiots like you who haven’t even read the book. It is what I respect about Jews, they have, Muslims, they have, but Christians? You come out and say stupid crap like that and still expect us Atheists to respect your beliefs. You don’t believe in some higher power you call God, you believe in your preacher.

The most Jesus ever created was a few lousy fish sandwiches (No butter or lemon) and a fair bit of wine. The guy who created everything, if you read the book, was supposed to be JESUS’ FATHER. Jesus wasn’t born yet! He only came about 2000 years ago, even the most literal creationists put the earth as being older then that at least.

Is this why Bush has had the most vacation time of any president in America’s history? When things are going wrong, well I don’t know about you but where I live that is when you GO TO WORK.

You do not take whole month’s off at a time (The August just before 9/11 for example) and then get to moan about how tough you had it in comparison to the next guy.

And don’t tell me that Bush was keeping well informed on his ranch. “Heck of a Job Brownie” does not speak of him keeping well informed.

You do not cut funding to things like the levee system in New Orleans, after the locals have come up with plans to modernise it in view of the fact that 2004 was a record year for hurricanes in the Gulf, and then moan about how hard you had it because of Hurricane Katrina.

No president has EVER had an easy time of the presidency. Franklin D Roosevelt had the Great Depression, and WWII. Linden B Johnson had the Vietnam war and the KKK’s civil war with the civil rights movement, Bush Snr, had the first gulf war and the end of the cold war.

Clinton had to deal with the fallout from the Cold War. Russia back then was economically fragile, terrorism was on the rise and hard to get a handle on (Clinton was the first president to have a comprehensive policy on terrorism) and his terms saw a lot of planned strikes on the US. Unlike Bush, who has the almost unprecedented advantage of having both Congress and the Senate held by his own party, Clinton had both held by the opposition. Make no mistake, that Clinton’s terms of office were quiet, is more a statement of how well Clinton did, then of how easy things were.

Bush by comparison has actually had a very easy presidency. If Clinton had say, suspended Habeaus Corpus for anyone, he would have been indicted, stripped of office, and thrown in jail. Bush has done this without consequences. Heck if Clinton had instituted the systematic wire-tapping of Americans, he would have been indicted, stripped of office, and thrown in jail. Bush has thus far, gotten away with murder. Lets be honest about it, if Bush ate a baby chances are the Republican Congress and Senate would just pass a law saying the president can eat babies.

That is beautiful, Bruce. But, Clinton had to deal with fallout? FALLOUT? He had to deal with FALLOUT? How comprehensive of a terrorism strategy is NOT KILLING THE BAD GUY? Sure, Bin Laden isn’t the only terrorist out there, but he was the masthead. And, it is quite irresponsible to compare Clinton or Bush to any president that served more than 24 years ago. Come one… to do so is like me ragging on my neighbor’s old Corvair because it is not up to par with my Honda Accord.

Duh, Bruce. But I’ll play irresponsible with you:

Clinton was pathetic. Why? Because Alexander the Great was able to conquer most of Eurasia. Yeah, take that!

Bush is the best president ever. Why? Because the Caesars couldn’t keep christianity and the slaves in check.

Man, what a crack-pot argument you put up.

The vacation thing… Good point; that really ticks me off too. I find it reprehensible that Bush finds so much time to vacation. Seems to me that no President would vacation. I rationalize that accepting the office pretty much writes off a President’s free time. They can have their free back when they leave office.

Let’s make no mistake… Dems are notorious for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Regardless of platform, Dems seem to like to lose. Example? I voted for it, I voted against it, I voted for it, I voted against it, I voted for it, I voted against it. Anyone remember how I voted?

Now we have an emptying pig trough. And Bush is talking about “fixing” Social Security (like saying, “I’ll fix his wagon”). Hastert says he’ll fire anyone who had anything to do with knowing about Foley, and it will be just like Bush saying he would “take care” of anyone who had anything to do with outing Plame, and now we all know Rove was there and Bush is still “taking care” of Rove (”not a part of this administration” anymore?) by just ignoring the “word of the President of the United States of America (um, duh, HIMSELF). That’s honor all right, ain’t it?

And, I watch Fox news. I stopped watching CNN when they put up the sniper video. I’ve seen this idiot on Cavuto’s show before and he is truly a greedy maroney.

The god damned gop has been running the show since ‘94 – it has all turned to shit in their hands – Dubbie couldn’t find his ass with both hands, even though his “crew” has total control over DC – gop policies have failed (they always do – some of us can remember back to the ‘80-’92 years) – and anyone who thinks otherwise is either a billionaire defense contractor or a dummy – which are you jds?

The sneaky thing about the “red” republicansandanistas is that they are destroying the economy purposly by adding bloated debt to the federal budget. Eventually it will further separate the divide between the rich and poor (republicansandanistas and the rest of us). Its an interesting approach indeed since its something that we cant really see and touch, but our grandchildren will. By that time, the disparity between rich and poor will be even greater. And THEY know that. Too bad most dont realize the truth.

  225. Bruce+Gorton says:

    jds

Do you want to know where modern terrorism comes from? It comes from economically weak people who were in economically important areas, being trained to bring down the government of those areas in order to avoid capitalist or communist control of the resources held by those areas. Bin Laden was one amongst many trained by the US to fight Russia, and the same can be said of members of his organisation, save that they were trained to fight America. Can you think of any better way to describe that then to call it fallout?

Bill Clinton hunted for Osama Bin Laden when America was accusing him of wagging the dog. It is part of historic record, they even played clips of that movie whenever he mentioned terrorism. That he failed is not a reflection of irresponsibility on his part, particularly when you consider that after 6 years of George Bush having a blank cheque to do whatever he wanted to get Osama, Osama is still out there alive and well. The CIA unit dedicated to hunting him however, has been shut down, and re-opened whenever politically expedient.

Clinton did not have that blank cheque, but after the first WTC bombing, there was not another successful Islamic terrorist strike on US soil up until eight months into Bush’s reign. That is the direct result of Clinton’s anti-terror policy, because there were attemps (Day Of Terror, the Millenium Attacks, etc…)

Indeed one of Clinton’s key victories in the war on terror was capturing the last of the original WTC bombers, Ali Mohamed, the guy who the Bush Administration would later use as a source of information on where Osama’s training camps were in Afghanistan. (BTW I still agree with the war in Afghanistan.)

Their was only one time which Clinton had a chance to kill Osama, and the missile missed. Osama had a spy in Pakistan who warned him just before the missiles hit. Note that telling Pakistan was obligatory, as the Pakistani’s could have just shot the missile down as it crossed their airspace and called it grounds for war. Pakistan is a nuclear power. Other then that, there was never a point at which US agents had Osama Bin Laden in their sights, the rest of the incidents are largely mythical.

About all you can say Clinton never did, was he didn’t invade Afghanistan after the USS Cole bombing. This was because the FBI refused to certify that Bin Laden was behind it, the neighbouring states refused to give the US landing rights, and because the military advised in the strongest possible terms, against sending in troops by night (The only remaining option.)

Now contrast this to 9/11. Osama is still at large, as are the majority of the plotters behind 9/11. What progress has been made in Afghanistan is being reversed by the losses being made in Iraq. The UK for the first time in its history (which includes controlling Middle Eastern territories) has been hit by Islamic terror strikes, and what is more, the strikes were perpetrated by second generation Britains.

Iraq, has gone from a mild nuisance to a central point in fighting terror (Before Bush invaded, it was a evil dictatorship that was hostile to Osama, who called Saddam a heretic.) Lebanon and Israel are now at greater odds then before, and Hezbollah has made itself stronger then ever before. Meanwhile Iran is talking nuclear and Pakistan has declared itself neutral to the Taliban. World support of America has gone from an all time high on 9/11, to a all time low, with America now being considered the greatest threat to world peace.

Want to know which I am? I’m a thousandaire. A middle class thousandaire that wants more for his family. I feel Repubs are more in line with my desires that Dems. I do not want socialized medicine, but healthcare is currently too high. I do not want gay marriage, but think the term civil union is appropriate. I do not want to be blown up by Ali Baba and his magic carpet, but feel Dems can’t protect me. It is all perspective. Repubs never claim to tolerate beliefs that are out of line with their own. Dems do. Where is your toleration? Man, I think you’re a numb-nuts. now I see why whiny kids grow up to be conservatives. http://michellemalkin.com/archives/004831.htm

    Bruce
You make good points. I do not blame Clinton or Bush for 9/11. Sure they have BOTH protected us to an extent and everyone could do more. I am also aware of how terrorists originate. And, this may blow your mind, but I think Clinton was a good Pres. The slickie in the oval was horrible, but the $50 million wasted on impeachment was worse. As far as killing Osama; Cllinton did have a chance and did not take it. Neither you nor I know everything about the situation(s) but we both know he did have a chance and for whatever reason missed it. I agree with Afghanistan and Iraq. However, Iraq was screwed up by everyone involved. Everyone. I think that in twenty years bush will be regarded as a good president; akin to what happened to the perception of Reagan.

But hindsight is pretty darn good.

America may be seen as the greatest threat but we are also seen as the only country with the cajones to stand up and save everyoen when they need saving. No one is perfect, but for some reasokn they all keep coming back to us. That has to say something about our leadership and values.

I do not see us as any type of threat; unless you (not you personally) are some nut-job dictator that fears losing power. then all you gotta do is blame America (Chavez, Jong-Il, anyone?).

I know the economic gap is pretty wide in this country and lower income and middle class families, including my own and everyone I know are having a harder time making ends meet, but I figure if I keep going to bat for the elite, perhaps they’ll notice how supportive I am and give me a little something for my allegiance.

JDS, isn’t it interesting that you always fall back to Bill Clinton’s penis? When all else fails, blame Clinton and talk about his penis. I always find it ironic how republicans say homosexuals and liberals and tolerance are part of the problem with this country and moral relativeness is at the heart of Americas’ deterioration. Yet, it’s your party of intolerance, racism, huuuuuge deficits, homophobia, education in ruins, the environment under attack, the constitution a transient document, the murder of over a half a million innocent people and the wrecking of our stature in the world yet all you have as an answer at your disposal is to blame Clinton. I find your arguments weak. I have never seen a party of people do so little and that do nothing to solve the ills of this nation or it’s society other than use the actions or inactions of the past administration as it’s scapegoat. You have no answers, you have no solutions other than to continually pound the drum of “blame someone else” rather than look at the deficiencies of your own cult. How do things improve with that as your answer to any question? What on earth does that do to solve the issues of the present? Or is it that you are so obsessed with Clinton’s penis that you look for any opportunity to bring it up? Just wondering.

you say “I do not want socialized medicine, but healthcare is currently too high”

What is it with you conservatives that don’t want universal medical coverage like every other western democracy enjoys?
Because pooling taxpayers money together to standardize systems and Doctor wages and buying in bulk from the Pharmacutical companies, etc…saving the cost of Medical millions (taxpayer savings) is not what you believe in?
You’d rather pay more for your medical services because of some outdated ideology?

Here in Canada, our Medicare system, while there are always problems, is one of the highest valued thing in every poll.
It costs much less per person than the US system, all of that with anyone, at any time, can go into any hospital, and see any doctor they want, and get treated for anything. It is accepted as a right here that the government will take care of your medical needs. gasp Communism!

A question, why do you put up with “socialized” policing in your country, or county, or city? By your logic shouldn’t it be that the richest neighborhoods that can afford policing get it, and the poorer neighborhoods not get it?
Do you not feel more comfortable knowing that you are (supposedly) equal to your fellow man in the eyes of the police? That things like uniforms, police cars, training schools etc are bought in bulk thus saving the taxpayer?

You cons can’t think outside of your own little boxes. We are the Progressives, you are the Regressives.

  232. Bruce+Gorton says:

You misunderstand me; Bill took the chance it just didn’t work out due to unforseen circumstances.

Iraq, was a bad decision. It is the wellspring of Iran going nuclear, of North Korea hurrying its testing, of all of the basic shit you have now. With Iraq America is tied down, there just isn’t much you can do about anything else. It is not that I support Saddam, it is that the timing for taking out Saddam couldn’t have been worse. When you have one war, don’t make another if you don’t have to.

My feeling is, that in twenty years Bush will be remembered as one of the worst, if not the worst, presidents in American history. You see, every other president has one major national success to cover himself with, even Jimmy Carter had 3 Mile Island. Bush, on the other hand, not so much.

His moment of glory, 9/11, was ultimately a failure that didn’t show courage or anything much else. His war in Afghanistan was half won when the war in Iraq started, but has since gone south due to innattention. His war in Iraq, is turning into a second Vietnam.

In part what went wrong with Bush was not entirely his fault. Believe it or not it was the fault of Congress and the Senate, both of which abdicated their usual places to check and balance the president. Under Clinton they did this to great effect, indeed Clinton’s administration is one of the cleanest on record, because Congress and the Senate stood against him. It is an extremely valuable thing to have someone who will say “no” to you.

Bush, if he had been checked and balanced by Congress and Senate, if they had not put party before state as both parties did (With the exception of such figures as Feingold and Murtha, who stood firm on their responsibilities) and if they had acted in the same manner with Bush as they did with Clinton, Bush would have been considered a okay president, maybe even a good one. Unfortunately, thanks to the way the Republicans have acted, Bush is already being called the worst by historians.

  235. jds says:

    greenmonkey,

If medicine was socialized it would be gov’t-managed. I do not trust the gov’t to manage it. Nor do I trust a corporate conglomerate to manage it. the way it is works, except for all the pay-off money being funneled back and forth between big-pharmacy and those that make laws. I don’t presume to think my party is near perfect, not even close, but I just do not feel that socialized medicine is the way to go. I honestly do not have any facts to back it up, just the way I rationalize it. And, I can think outside of my box, I truly think the best party would be one that took the best of both worlds and merged them into an agreeable platform.

    Facism,

I’m not the one typing about Clinton’s little willy; you are. I mentioned the disgraceful act he commited and subsequently mentioned the disgraceful act the Repubs commited by wasting money attacking him for it. I used it as a colloquialism. But I assume you already knew that. Regarding your rich-guy post… It is not the fault of the Republican party that you cannot manage your finances. If you choose to live outside your means; so be it. Deal with the repercussions. My family income is between $125K and $175K and we manage just fine. You seem intolerant and a little bitter. Perhaps you should give good ole Dave Ramsey a call.

  236. Parrotlover77 says:

I do not trust the gov’t to manage it.

I love this argument. As if the insurance companies are doing a bang-up job.

  237. Parrotlover77 says:

The rallying cry of the greedy rich. If you make nearly $200K annually, then why can’t everybody? Gosh us lazy bastards with massive student loans, working 80 hour weeks to squeeze out a decent living while our managers work 20 hour weeks and live in mansions.

  238. BigCynic.com says:

Since Fox is obviously running an election-related message, the Democrats should demand equal time:

“Will continuing Republican control of government bring even more chaos and disaster?”

Bushian loyalty is no virtue–it’s the loyalty of thieves

  239. Fascism+American+Style says:

jds, I virtually have no debt other than my house and a car, I live well within my means. That’s the difference, I am not talking about just me, I believe if we live in a society that thinks only of themselves and sees value in knocking down those that cannot help themselves or those that could use a little help but are not granted it we are all diminshed for it.

I am talking about the low income families that don’t see any benfit from having a republican in office and control of both house and senate to funnel their hard earned tax dollars, billions and billions into an illegal war to go kill other poor people that have never done thing to them.

That is my point. You seem to be beholden to an ideology where you admit you have no proof to back up your claims (healthcare). You seem beholden to an ideology that Democrats are incapable of protecting you because you’ve been indoctrinated by the far right demigods Hannity, Gingrich and Limbaugh that if Democrats win, we’ll all be less safe. You’ve bought that fear, you’ve bought that lie. You are a model conservative, because you’ll go to bat for them and debate your ideas, which is your right obviously.

Even if they are based on distortions, (we were never about cut and run; they had wmd’s; we will be greeted as liberators; the military commissions act protects Americans; we have a coalition of the willing; compassionate conservatism….Shall I go on?) that is all but lost on you even if in your heart you don’t believe it.

My point about his “willy” is that where ever I have read an argument against the current administration there is invariably a knee jerk reaction to point blame and look downward to deflect, distract and lie about what Clinton did and did not do. I will admit that you’re somewhat more civil than most that I’ve debated and if I come across as bitter, you may be onto something, as for intolerant, I don’t see where you can point to anything I’ve said that could be construed as such and have no idea who Dave Ramsey is.
But bitter? You call it bitter, I call it frustration that over the past 6 years this administration has written the book on what not to do regarding everything from foreign policy, troop deployment, illegal wire tapping of citizens, illegal, immoral wars, suppressing voter turn out in under priviliged neighborhoods, I could go on and on and on, the list of my grievances is lengthy and growing, so I bid you good morning on your realization that most of the country feels exactly the way I do, or at least some variation thereof, so yeah, I am bitter, I’m pissed and I want my f-in country back and I want us to be respected in the world again and want people to want to work with us. I want people who cannot defend themselves from financial troubles to be able to have some hope rather than see the casm widen more and more. I want this country to above everything else do well, but more over to do good. If that makes me come across as bitter than yes, I suppose I am.

  241. Bruce+Gorton says:

    Fascism+American+Style

    Tao Te America

If you wish to be a great patriot
    You must follow your conscience
    Stand against control.
    Listen to what others say,
    But learn to govern yourself.

    The more condemnations you speak
The less virtuous you will become
    The more hatred you have
The less secure you will be
    The more terror you accept
The less free you will be

    Thus the true American says:

I let go of others’ sins
    and I become good
I let go of others’ failures
    and I become successful
I let go of my petty fears
    and I become serene
I let go of all desire for personal political power
And political power becomes the right of all.

  242. Mark says:

JDS and all the other right wingers forget this abotu Clinton and Bush. Clinton had to start from scratch with Osama. His administration had to learn about these people, where they were and who they were etc… On day one of Bush’s tenure he should have knwon all of this. But 8 months later…

  243. Citizen J says:

“My family income is between $125K and $175K” and so, jds, do you realize that people that make $1 million a year actually pay LESS in taxes than YOU do? Yeah, that’s Bu$hCO for you- the rich get richer, and all the rest o ya can f**k off!

Is that fair to YOU? Since you people seem to care about yourselves ONLY, that should piss you off. YOU are getting screwed, hello? YOU and YOUR FAMILY are footing the tax bill for the uber-rich. Does that seem fair and right to you? Since WHEN do the uber-rich get to stick all of US with THEIR financial responsibilities? That’s Lord and Serf type stuff. Don’t you think we’ve should have progressed beyond the “I’ve got it all, and all you scum have none” state yet?

But hey, that’s YOUR PARTY for ya. “Screwing the People so we can have EVEN MORE!” and you’re CHEERING for it. Don’t you understand that they are taking dollars out of YOUR WALLET??

Wake the flock UP, dude- you’ve been HAD. Just because they SAY they’re “one of you” DOESN’T MEAN THAT THEY ARE, hellllllllooooooo???? Weren’t you people supposed to be on the watch for false prophets, ie “wolves in sheep’s clothing”?

Not all threats originate outside our borders.

Oh, will the country be able to survive this? Hope so. The country survived the War on Christmas, the War on Easter and the War on Christians with the help of Fox. If it were not for Fox we would all be doomed to God only knows what.

Just so Caputo knows, countries with a social democratic government have the strongest economies in the world. Some social democracies at the top of the list- Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Brazil, China, Austria, the emerging Latin American countries, ALL of which are recovering from right wing governments.
