The post tries to suggest that the president (or his administration) has changed course, first stating that there was proof that the terrorists were meddling in our elections and then backing off the claim because there was no evidence to support it.

That’s not what happened at all. Read the quotes more closely:

In the first quote Cheney made clear that he was giving his “interpret[ation]“of events, and not an established fact.

In the second quote, Bush gives the unremarkable opinion that the enemy is trying to cause harm to the US so that the US will leave. This has nothing to do with the point TP is trying to make–that insurgents are trying to affect our elections.

In the third quote, Snow raised the “possib[ility]” that insurgents were trying to affect elections, but stated “we don’t have a clear pathway into the minds of the terrorists.”

This is pretty much what the president said in the clip: There increased violence as we get closer to the election, but “I just don’t know” if that reflects an intentional strategy to affect the elections.

The President may be wrong on a lot of things, but it doesn’t seem like he’s committed any of the sins TP accuses him of in this post.

Surely TP can do better than this.

Your barbs don’t change the fact that you still haven’t provided any evidence that Democrats are against any form of surveillance of possible terrorists. And since you made the “prosecuting” accusation, it is your responsibility to present that evidence, not mine to try to find it.
