“Either he didn’t take his medication

or he’s acting.” — Rush Limbaugh on Michael J. Fox, who appears “visibly racked by tremors” from Parkinson’s disease in new television campaign ads about stem cell research.

  1. antiwarhol says:

The irony is that it’s Parkinsons medication itself that makes him shake like that. Otherwise, he’d be incapacitated.

    What an asshole.

  2. GSD says:

Rush is just jealous that despite his illness Michael J. Fox has s fully functional penis and not soggy crueller that needs duct tape and popsicle sticks in order to work.

  3. Badmoodman says:

Yesterday’s news, and the “Rita Cosby-level news” at that. Moving on…

  4. buzzbomb says:

I’ve never wanted another human being to be ran over by a bus so bad in my life. come to think of it, Rush is kinda like Biff. “Now Rush, you wouldn’t lie to me would you?”

  5. g says:

even if he didnt take his meds, who cares? its important to see what Parkinsons does to people. we need to stop being so complacent and face reality.

Besides the fact that maybe he didnt take his meds because Limbaugh took it for him.

  6. DieNowForPeace says:

FAT CHICKENHAWK (and for a hemorrhoid, no less), DOPE-HEAD BASTARD PUNK-ASS-BITCH.

  7. SouthPaw says:

‘We do not have anywhere near a cure. We can’t we regenerate nerves yet, folks, and that’s what has to happen to cure paralysis in the spine. Stem cells do not promise any such thing, nor do they for Parkinson’s disease’. — Limpballs.

From the transcript. Um, yeah, d!ckhead. There’s no cure because no one has been allowed to do the research. There IS promising evidence that there COULD be a cure, or at least relief.

  8. s says:

First: Douglas G…..please provide proof that Limbaugh apologized. Thanks.

Second: When is the National community of decency and conscience going to quit giving this man a forum? I wonder. He is absolutely dispicable.

  9. RealScientist says:

When told by someone else that Michael Foxx, really does appear that way, Rush then said if that was true then he apologizes for his comment.

    Comment by Douglas.G — October 24, 2006 @ 3:02 pm

So tell me, ASSHOLE, why does Rush get to ASSUME that Fox is faking until told otherwise? Especially when it is publicly known that Fox does indeed have Parkinson’s. Because ASSHOLE fans of Rush like you will always give Rush a bye? Well, until I hear otherwise from your friends, I think I will just go around saying “Hey! That Douglas G. guy is a real ASSHOLE! And a dope addict! And a pedophile!”. Then I will “apologize”.

    That’s all for now, Douglas.

  10. SouthPaw says:

#3–I read the whole thing, and by no means does he carry the tone of being apologetic. IF something is TRUE he apologizes for it. But he, as always, and admittedly so, gets his facts from other people, rather than researching on his own. So he never saw how Fox appeared before.

Now, we are not like you all who read one quote and take it as gospel. I can bet that most of the people on this site went and read the rest of the article. That’s why it’s linked.

  11. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

Rush Limpballs saying that under certain circumstances he’d apologize for making disparaging remarks about Michael J. Fox’s disease is somehow the rest of the story? Limpballs wouldn’t have to apologize if he didn’t make disparaging remarks about someone having a disease in the first place.

  12. dlet says:

    You mean this Douglas G.

Later in the broadcast, Limbaugh stated that “I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act, especially since people are telling me they have seen him this way on other interviews and in other television appearances.”

That is in the story that was linked to by TP. Yes TP hiding information by linking to it. Conspiracy….conspiracy. Oh and I wouldn’t hold your breath for a real apology from Rush. See how he uses “if”. Well that don’t fly.

  13. Wilco says:

I thought Dennis Miller was a has-been because he really never should have been. He’s just not funny.

  14. buzzbomb says:

#2 GSD, that is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time, thanks.

  15. Democrat Soldier says:

#3 – Don’t stop there! Tell what ELSE El Limp-bag said:
“So Mr. Fox is using his illness as another tactic to try to secure the election of a Democrat [sic] senator by implying that with her election, that we’ll be on the road to stem cell research her opponent opposes, and people who suffer from Parkinson’s disease, as he does, will have a cure.”

Doesn’t El-fat-a$$ remember the Republicans using Terri Schiavo to secure elections! No, that would take peronal responsibility, something Limbaugh just doesn’t have.

Doesn’t El-pimple-butt remember comparing a three-limbed amputee to Usama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein and ignoring the man’s honorable service in uniform (when old Rush-Head used his pimply butt to get out of the draft)?? No, that would take peronal responsibility, something Limbaugh just doesn’t have.

When you want the latest & greatest in conserva-nazi hypocracy, just tune in to Rush Limbaugh on the radio to get your dose of kool-aide, right-whiner talking points, and excuses on why Pres. Bush is a failure.

  16. Tom says:

Limpballs’s show is so amusing. Each week it seems that he takes a length of “verbal rope”, fashions a noose and hangs himself with some outrageous statement such as the ones that he made about Fox.

Then, to make it even funnier, his dittohead idiots call him up to support him and urge him on.

He spends the rest of the week trying to wriggle out of the noose, justifying the unjustifiable, changing his story, denying the undeniable and he slowly chokes to death.

Then the next week, he does it all over again.

Limpballs along with Insanity and O’Lielly are really amusing these days. They are running scared because the Republicans’ days are numbered in Congress and GDumbya is weeks away from being a lame duck. Life will be changing for them very, very soon…and it’s long past time for that to happen.

  17. DRxJ says:

When told by someone else that Michael Foxx, really does appear that way, Rush then said if that was true then he apologizes for his comment.
    Comment by Douglas.G — October 24, 2006 @ 3:02 pm

This is not an apology. This statement, “it that was true” leaves doubt in minds of dittoheads, who will now blindly believe that Mr.Fox (one x) was “acting” his tremors.
I rarely name call, but having witnessed patients with this disease, and observing the pain and suffering,… Mr.Limbaugh, you are an idiot! and Douglas G, you are an idiot for being a dittohead who can’t even manage a thought of your own

  18. radiobill says:

People who comment on such things as Limbaugh’s asinine remark really do need to be aware — and report — that it is the MEDICINE that MAKES Mr. Fox twist and writhe… the condition is known as dyskinesia, and it’s a direct effect of the levodopa in the medicine Sinemet, without which a person with advanced Parkinson’s wouldn’t be able to move at all. By just reporting what Limbaugh says without correcting him, the media is just further spreading the lie and is complicit in the smear.

  19. Wilco says:

Since when is it ok to attack someone so long as you promise to apologize if someone proves you incontrovertibly wrong.

  20. RealScientist says:

Since when is it ok to attack someone so long as you promise to apologize if someone proves you incontrovertibly wrong.

Exactly the point I was trying to make, Wilco.

  21. MakesYaThink says:

    Doug-less G,

You’ve been pwned! MUTHA! How’s it feel to have rovian tactics used against you while your stupid-ass party scrambles while losing power.

I heard Democrats will make anyone with the name Dougless G, clean porta johns for a living, with a straw! In other words EAT-SH1T-AND-D1E. Stupid dittohead.

  22. And+You+Thought+REAGAN+Was+Stupid says:

Rush is a drug addict. I don’t find any logical reason why I should pay attention to anything a drug addict has to say.

  23. Mark says:

Doug, the point is that Rush said it period without checking. It is actually symptomatic of how he operates. He will put out anything and everything that he feels will taint the position or person he opposes. Then in the future if facts indicate he was wrong he may apologize very quietly.

  24. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

Amazing. Limpballs pimps for sympathy for himself for his behavioral problems in controlling his intake of painkillers but he has no compassion for someone who acquired a disease through no fault of their own. Thank you, Limpballs, for showing everyone what a real asshole you are.

Pete, pulling lever: Don’t let the clouds hit you in your fat butt on the way down!

  28. Ben says:

    ON DRUDGE:

Following his appearance in an advertisement for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill, Canadian-born actor Michael J. Fox vouches for another Democratic Senate hopeful in Maryland. Congressman Ben Cardin is using Fox in a similiar ad, where the actor, suffering from Parkisan’s disease, is seen gyrating while he tries to persuade voters not to vote for Republican candidate Michael Steele.
UPDATE: Michael Steele’s campaign has exposed Cardin’s vote against stem cell

  29. Daryll says:

This may be shocking to you libs, but as a Christian and Republican, I find Rush Limbaugh’s remarks about Mr. Fox appalling. It takes a small man to criticize a physically disabled individual. I’m praying for you Rush.

  32. dlet says:

Totally off-topic but Rush only deserves so much attention anyway. Ollie North still messing with Nicaragua. Trying to affect the elections there. But according to the US ambassador he’s not representing the US government. Yeah right.

  33. RUCerious says:

Don’t fall for Ben’s BS, here’s the link to Cardin’s site with his stem cell position…http://www.bencardin.com/topstory?id=0004

The legislation Cardin voted against was the bogus cord blood stem cell bill.
What a freakin crooked bunch of morons!

  34. dlet says:

    Regarding #37

  35. BatGuano says:

My mother in-law has Parkinson’s. She takes a handful of pills every day. The one time I saw her when she was late taking her pills, she was just freezing up, and couldn’t walk without help. The deal with the medication is that they help the person keep moving, but also cause side-affects like the shakes and the swaying. She is lucky so far, only appears fidgety.

What’s disgusting about Rush is that he’s not even bothering to check the facts about this on Google, he just says the first negative thing he can imagine. But then, his listeners aren’t so interested in the science behind it either. It’s just another day with the dumbass leading the stupids.

  36. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

#32, so does that mean it’s ok to say disgusting things about a person with Parkinsons?

  37. wisedup says:

so mr….’Worse Person In the World’…limpdong..MIGHT appoglize if he’s wrong….the day hell freezes over he will…he can’t put the shit back in the box and he knows and uses it. Meds or no meds, I watched the vid and It shows how damn lucky we are to NOT have it,and we MUST do all we can to stop it. See my tears rust, you COLD HEARTED BASTARD!

  38. Mark says:

When discussing Stem Cell Research I hear a couple of things from right wingers 1) the only progress made has been with adult stem cells, 2) no cure has been found with stem cells, and 3) The only barrier is a barrier to use federal funds for this research, and that private industry would do it better.

As to point 1…I have no idea if this is accurate or not. However Scientists see more promise with embryonic stem cells because they are raw and have not yet begun to form tissues yet. The promise of stem cells is in figuring out how they form new tissues and possibly converting that knowledge into a cure for something. Adult stem cells will never form new tissues, this is something that they are incapable of doing. So regardless of what has been achieved thus far, the most promise is with embryonic stem cells, and that is beyond a shadow of a doubt in the scientific community. As to point #2…ok, you win no cure to anything have been developed yet, your point is? Is it that since nothing has been found to not even look? Nice Christian point there. If there is no cure to something right now, that does not mean you should not look into it. With that attitude no discovery would ever have taken place. You would be the guys telling Columbus not to sail…no land has ever been discovered in that direction. Or telling the Wright brothers not to fly…no Man has ever flown before. Etc… Point 3) A great deal of research is done using federal funding. You think the Stealth bomber would have ever been developed without federal funding? Private industry did the research with federal finding. Ditto for IFF and the composite Armor on M-1 Tanks. Or take all the research that came out of the Apollo program in the 1960’s? That was not privately funded. Most private industry will not do the research on new technology, they will wait for it to be developed then do research to perfect these discoveries for commercial purposes. But heck why bother even trying? We have no results yet anyway. Of course lets spend a trillion dollars researching the PNAC’s theories on how to dominate the Middle East.

  39. RUCerious says:

    You dishonest f*cks!
    S. 2754

It is the purpose of this Act to–

    (1) intensify research that may result in improved understanding of or treatments for diseases and other adverse health conditions; and

    (2) promote the derivation of pluripotent stem cell lines, including from postnatal sources, without creating human embryos for research purposes or discarding, destroying, or knowingly harming a human embryo or fetus.

To say that because Cardin voted against this, so he’s against stem cell reseach is blatant crap!

It’s called getting ratings. That’s really all Rush gives a shit about. Yet, there are progressives who go nuklear everytime he opens his mouth and thereby validate him. So why are we still discussing him? Treat Old Windy the same wasy you would treat Mann Coultier.

  44. Bruce says:

If he were not offenisve enough already, having seen my father with parkinsons in the mid 1980’s takes his insulting comments to a personal level.

  45. Mark says:

#42 I have a book I read to my kids ( I think it may actually be written by Madonna) But the book has a kid spreading a rumor about a man without even talking to him. Later the kid finds out he is wrong and arranges to meet and apologize, the man says bring a pillow with when they meet. It’s a windy day and while the kid tries to apologize the man has him cut the pillow open and shake the feathers out of it. He lets the kid know that apologizing is all fine and good, but by making his accusations to so many people he was literally shaking the feathers out of the pillow. And the only way the apology would be worth anything is if he could catch every feather and put them back in the pillow, and that would be akin to the boy getting every bit of his unsubstantiated rumor and going out and telling everyone, though the accusations would still be in peoples minds.

I’m pretty sure that Rush is of the opinion that heck I’ve shook the feathers out of the pillow, good…the accusations are out there. Now I can apologize and appear to be a better person than I am. In other words, he knows exactly what he is doing and what the effects are. Across the country the ditto heads are now angry at Fox for faking his illness. The few who actually heard the apology will have their doubts because Rush never lies and is never wrong. Must have been a liberal plot that made him apologize.

  46. CyraBrown says:

He does all this with a ‘Holier than Thou’ arrogance that actually
    sounds like he knows something.
I’m sure he would approve of the RNC as on Ford. I mean, he
was fired for racist remarks in the sportscasting booth.
If Dems gain a majority in either house, let’s hope an inquiry into
the lies & malfeasance he’s spreading would be addressed.
Why is it OK to lie on the air?
You gotta go, Limpdick. The sooner the better.

Well, Daryll, that’s pretty decent of you. You don’t usually impress me as being what I’d call “enlightened”, but I’ll give you points for that one. At least you’re not a dittohead.

  55. Ben says:

Guys and gals, I’m still here. I don’t recall making a comment about Rush’s comments. I am not a Rush fan. I’m not much for the showmanship stuff. Plus I have a lack of respect since he did not acknowledge that he had basically turned into a pill addict. I was merely pointing to a post on Drudge that was pointing out the fact Cardin had voted against 2 bills on stem cell research. Even if the bills did not offer all that everyone wanted was it not an improvement over what the science community previously had? Too many times our officials do not take at least the halfway legislation which is better than what we have.

  56. Publicus says:

I remember feeling sorry for Limbaugh when it looked like he lost his voice and his career was over. But he’s trying my patience when it comes to being charitable to people on the right…

  57. RUCerious says:

    Ben, Ben, Ben,
Don’t dissemble. You know as well as most of the posters, that just because a bill offers the republican version of how we should do something, a Democrat who knows that it is bull should vote no on it.
Cord blood as a stem cell source is completely bogus.
    Like your argument.
how about a transportation bill that will build a bridge in Alaska that will service 200 people at a cost of over 200 million. Great idea, why are some republicans voting against it? Are they anti transportation?

  58. Will says:

I can’t believe anyone still listens to this idiot. I lost all respect for the man when he stated that it was impossible for chimps or gorillas to sign. He’s got the brain of a toad, the manners of a goat (no.. I shouldn’t insult goats that way) and he’s got no idea what people other than Republicans think about anything. All he knows (or cares) is that they don’t agree with him. That’s enough. He’s got a hell of a lot more to apologize for than throwing a little rudeness at a Parkinsons victim.

  59. Ben says:

    blying…you should consider some pills.

RUC…I don’t think that your transportation is a good example. How about late term abortions. Would you be in favor of outlawing third tri-mester abortions unless the life of the mother is at risk?

  60. RUCerious says:

Ben, I think my transportation example is perfect.
Would you be in favor of eliminating the Social Security contributin cap for those who make more than $96,000?

  61. Ben says:

Actually RUC I would be……but I think I have a better idea for Social Security. First thing though is that I would eliminate SS benefits for those whose net worth exceeded a certain number or if their earned income (incl investment income) exceeded a certain amount. It seems to me that if you have lived in this country and made it to the finish line having done well you do not need your benefit. If however you fall below the criteria you could begin to receive benefits. I also am in favor of no income tax below a certain amount. Say 20k as an example. I do not believe in itemized deductions nor deductions for dependents. The fact that others should subsidize someone else’s decision to have children that they cannot support should not be placed on others. I do not think that homeowners should get preferrential treatment over renters. These are not all my thoughts but some of the primary ones. I also favor national catastrophic healthcare. Say excess 5-10k per occurrence.

  62. Mark says:

#63 he was losing his hearing. Turns out that this is a side effect of Oxycotin abuse. Stopped using the hill billy herion and his hearing has improved.

  63. Ben says:

byling…let’s leave it at I’m a businessman and there are some common sense ways to handle taxation. The problem in the US is more about compensation than taxation. Mutual funds removed our ability as individual shareholders to hold executive compensations in check via voting our shares. Now that is in the control of money managers who collectively have majority voting power. Therefore the compensation of corporate America is subject to fraud. Even though the lower half pays only 3.3% of the taxes what does that say about how much money the upper half is earning. Liberals and progressives and CONSERVATIVES have been duped into a discussion about taxation when the bigger problem is compensation.

I have to go. Would not want any of you to think I was tucking my tail and leaving.

    Daryll,

You’re not really saying much here. Since you’re Republican, I take it you still agree with the GOP position against stem-cell research?

It takes a small man to criticize a physically disabled individual.

It’s not that he criticized him — sincere criticism by itself would have been ok. But Limbaugh smeared Fox with a false accusation without any consideration of the facts.

FYI, this is modus operandi for Limbaugh, Coulter, the Bush administration, and the Republican party in general.

Douglas G. you should know something very basic: anyone who would come on this board and defend a man who makes fun of someone with Parkinsons is an amoral, moronic a-hole. You are simply a bad, bad person. I don’t know exactly what your problem is — self-loathing is a personal thing and it’s clear you have your demons — but you are a first class, unmitigated a-hole, period.

  83. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

the ABC news website is allowing people to vote on whether Limpballs was out of line for saying such a despicable thing. 15% say he was not out of line.

  84. Mark+Foley says:

    slime ball pure and simple!!

  85. Bluedog49 says:

That’s an interesting poll result, RATFASP, because some studies show that about that percentage of the population are sociopaths.

  86. NewProg says:

    Douglas= Dumbass!

    #98

15% percent of Americans must be pretty dumb….

  89. Mr. Evil says:

I’ve found that anyone that needs to have his or her politics spoon-fed to them by the likes of Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have much, if any, credence to anything they say. It’s really very simple, believe propaganda or seek and accept the truth. I just don’t understand that some people would rather espouse the propaganda and deny the simple truth at any cost.

  90. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

No matter what your political party affiliation, I don’t see how anyone can support a bully who tries to degrade someone else for having a debilitating disease.

  91. Gourney says:

    Rimbaugh is defecation

  92. Gourney says:

A STAIN ON HUMANITY MAKES A DISGUSTING STATEMENT SO ITS ‘OUT THERE’ AND THEN RETRACTS IT AT THE END TO PRETEND THAT HE CARES, THAT HE’S HUMAN AFTER ALL DESPITE APPEARANCES ANYWAY – UGLY BASTARD

STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CONSERVATIVE PLAYBOOK DICKHEAD

  93. Bluestocking says:

So Rush is a medical professional now? I suppose he thinks all the doctor-shopping he did while trying to get prescriptions for OxyContin is equivalent to a diploma from med school…for the love of all that’s sacred, what an absolutely repulsive philistine the man is!

  94. NYCIC says:

So Rush has now issued a mea culpa. Mighty white of you, fat boy. But then he calls Fox “a shill” for McCaskel (sp).

Did Daryn Kagan really allow Rush to mount her? I’ve never been able to look at her the same way since. Gee, another illusion shattered. Life in hard in ‘Murika.

  95. Think Progress » ThinkFast: October 27, 2006 says:

[...] Responding to accusations made by Rush Limbaugh, Michael J. Fox said he was neither acting nor off his medication for Parkinson’s disease. “The irony of it is that I was too medicated,” Fox told CBS’s Katie Couric, adding that his jumpy condition as he spoke to her reflected “a dearth of medication — not by design. I just take it, and it kicks in when it kicks in.” [...]
