Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly attacked actor Michael J. Fox for appearing in television campaign ads promoting stem cell research. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, appears “visibly racked by tremors” in the ads.
“He is exaggerating the effects of the disease,” Limbaugh told listeners yesterday. “He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act. … This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.”
According to the National Parkinson Foundation, Limbaugh has no idea what he’s talking about. The Washington Post reports:
[I]n an interview in Ladies Home Journal’s September edition, Fox said he was taking a medication that causes jerking, fidgeting and other abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesia. Fox said he was taking another medication to lessen those side affects.
An official of the National Parkinson Foundation said movements like those exhibited by Fox are the result of taking medication to treat the disease, which would otherwise result in rigidity.
“When you see someone with those movements, it’s not because they have not taken medication but because they probably have taken medication for some time,” the official said. “If you don’t take the medication, then you freeze.”
Limbaugh continued the assault today, calling Fox’s video “an attack ad” that is “filled with disinformation about embryonic stem cell research.”
Rush Limpdick is a big fat idiot.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:19 pmRush is just jealous cause his little winky has no movement no matter how much he moves around or shakes it.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:22 pmI think Rush is faking his impotency.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:25 pmOh my god, Limbaugh, just shut up! There is no help for someone like you.
I have seen first hand exactly what Parkinson’s Disease does to a person, and it is devastating. It takes everything from the person, inch by inch, until they are a shell of their former selves. To ridicule someone with this disease — any disease — is purely moronic.
Why do people listen to that idiot!?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:35 pmIM A PHARMACIST
THOSE SYMPTOMS ARE CALLED “TARDIVE DYSKINESIA” …
THEY ARE AN IRREVERSIBLE SIDE EFFECT OF L-DOPA … THE ONLY MEDICATION THAT WORKS ON PARKINSON’S DISEASE
October 24th, 2006 at 8:37 pmThis is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.â€
No, Rush, it is shameless of you to say that someone is faking their disability, when it is widely known they’ve suffered it for while.
I bet you are not above tripping blind people, or taking away insulin from the diabetic -you know, in case they are “faking it”.
It is even more shameless that you should open your big, foul mouth to spew your ignorant babble on a daily basis. But then, if you had any sense of decency, you would have quit your job a long time ago.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:38 pmFox is faking his Parkinson’s symptoms just the same way that Bush is faking mental incompetence. Fox isn’t really sick, and Bush is actually a member of Mensa. Welcome to the strange twilight zone that is the world of Rush Limbaugh.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:38 pmDespicable.
I have a friend who has Parkinson’s. She moves very much like Michael J. Fox moved in the video. And the types of drugs Parkinson’s people take DO cause tardive dyskinesia. As a medical librarian who has read a great deal of medical literature and done lit searches for people on all sorts of medical topics, I’ve had ample opportunity to read up on side effects of drugs and about tardive dyskinesia.
So NO, Michael J. Fox was faking nothing. Besides, even if he did go off his meds to make the video, how does that change the fact that stem cell research holds promise for helping people with Parkinson’s?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:40 pmSo, if somebody gives the big fat pig some of this medication, will he exhibit the same side effects?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:42 pmDidn’t Jesus say, somewhere, to kick the infirmed when they are down?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:43 pm> Rush Limpdick is a big fat idiot.
No need to belabour the patently obvious. The stem cells that this silly construct grew out of must wish they had stopped meiosis when it was still time.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:43 pmLimbaugh is a propogandist and a liar who will say anything to make Democrats look bad and the GOP look good. We all know that already. While that’s creepy in it’s own right, at least the motives of greed and power make sense, in a sociopathic kind of way.
But the people who LISTEN to him and BELIEVE what he says? That’s a MUCH scarier reflection on this country, IMO.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:45 pmLimbaugh’s BS and lies play just fine to his loyal legion of dullards who regularly and uncritically take in his nonsense. Just remember that this is the same man who was fired from his Monday Night Football job for his racist and hateful comments about an African American quarterback. Limbaugh learned the hard way that his BS does not play well away from the protective bubble of his studio where dittheads hang on his every word.
For years the GOP have hidden their hateful policies behind catch phrases (“compassionate conservatismâ€) and the chuckleheaded giggles of clowns like Hannity and Limbaugh. They are angry about immigrants, blacks, women, poor people, teachers, unions, and most of all Democrats who appear to be real reason behind Bush’s failed Presidency.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:51 pmLimbaugh has no credibility whatsoever at this point.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:52 pmWatching the political commercial Michael J. Fox did for Jim Talents’ Missouri opponent was very sad to see. It broke my heart. What broke my heart almost as much was listening to his distortion of the Republican stem cell position. Repubs are NOT against stem cell research - cord cells and adult stem cells and a number of embyonic stem cell lines are all favoured by Repubs - but you’d never know it from the lies the writers of that con-mercial.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:58 pmbut you’d never know it from the lies the writers of that con-mercial.
Comment by mighty+aphrodite — October 24, 2006 @ 8:58 pm
The thread is about what Rush said..What are your thoughts on that? My father died from that diease, to have that once fat bastard say what he did makes my blood boil. and you say?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:06 pmNaturally, while ROTFL, some posters are unable to comment on the lack of veracity of Michael J. Fox’ statement. I feel badly he suffers from such a terrible disease. I also feel badly he lies about the conservative position on stem cell research.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:11 pmI think you should all have a listen to this. Judging from the comments for this story, I think you’ll really appreciate it.
Rush Limbaugh subject of stand-up
This is of course stand up from the amazing Bill Hicks. Contains graphic language!
October 24th, 2006 at 9:15 pmDear JoeFriday - Rush was stupid to say such a thing about Michael J. Fox. Happy??
Now please defend the LIES of Michael J. Fox’s con-mercial….because naturally, the substance of the con-mercial was NOT important to you or TP - but the poignant, weepy SYMBOLISM was…..
October 24th, 2006 at 9:15 pmI also feel badly he lies about the conservative position on stem cell research.
Comment by mighty+aphrodite — October 24, 2006 @ 9:11 pm
Why do you think he is ” lying about it “? However, the main point and question was what is your opinon of Rush making those statements-that should not be so hard.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:16 pmI don’t mean to paint a whole group as nasty, but it seems to me Republicans are particularly cruel when it comes to minorities and those who have physical problems (macaca, the new ad by Bob Corker against Harold Ford in TN, now someone with a debilitating disease).
October 24th, 2006 at 9:19 pmSuch hypocrites: pretending to have compassion as they debase others.
I’m surprised at how much press this is getting. Rush has been saying outlandish and untrue stuff for years - why is he only just now getting called on it? Beware the power of Alex P. Keaton!
October 24th, 2006 at 9:20 pmAmerica’s Least Wanted
I’ve found that anyone that needs to have his or her politics spoon-fed to them by the likes of Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have much, if any, credence to anything they say. It’s really very simple, believe propaganda or seek and accept the truth. I just don’t understand that some people would rather espouse the propaganda and deny the simple truth at any cost. And the king of repugnance, the doper du jour, the junkie jockey, the blowhard blatherbag, the marriage migrant, draft dodging douche-waste of donkey dung, asswipe of all assholes, Rush Limbaugh is the lyingest liar of all liars and gets paid millions of dollars to do so. Would he continue to let all of his smegma slime ooze from his mouth if he didn’t get paid for it?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:21 pmRush is an authority on taking medication? Which medication would that be I wonder?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:21 pmIf the commercial Michael J. Fox made was filled with lies and disinformation, why didn’t Rush simply refute the statements made by Fox? Why did he instead launch into a twisted attack upon Fox, who is suffering from parkinsons?
Main reason of course, Rush has no shame.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:23 pmBLIAR - If you understood the advances made by researchers using cord stem cells, you might be worth more response time. But your lies flow nicely from the sympathetic Mr. Fox’s lies - maybe you have a new friend….

Comment by Zooey — October 24, 2006 @ 8:35 pm
It’s the arrogance & power factors. They are the kind of people who like to think they are right about everything and hate to be proven wrong. Rush feeds them.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:25 pmRush can spew his garbage all he wants, but the only people listening to him are bumpkins that couldn’t point out iraq on a map of iraq!
I know of no intelligent person that could possibly take him seriously, except some republicans that use him to stir up the rabble.
This from a man so moral, he admitted to dr. shopping for oxycontin…
October 24th, 2006 at 9:26 pm“But George Bush and Michael Steele would put limits on the most promising stem cell research.” So MA what is the lie in that? Many people believe that embryonic stem cells are “The most promising”. and you say?

How about “Rush was a heartless son of a bitch to attack someone with Parkinson’s Disease.”
October 24th, 2006 at 9:29 pmI must admit I have great affection for Michael J. Fox. When I was in high school, I was often compared to Alex P. Keaton (Yes, I was ALWAYS a conservative). So, if it comes to choosing sides between Limbaugh and my doppelganger, I will go with Michael J. Fox every time!

********”Many people”? Many people believe the way to heaven is to kill infidels and be rewarded with 70+ virgins in heaven. So what? Cord stem cell research has been extremely promising and I support it fully. You are right about Limbaugh’s hyperbole - but voters would appreciate a bit less distortion of the facts.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:56 pmWhat if Rush was stricken with Parkinson’s Disease. Can you imagine him suffering from the body tremors, brought on by his medication, and trying to light that big, fat phallic symbol of a cigar he likes to smoke? I can hear him now, “how dare you attack someone suffering from a dibilitating disease!”
Rush Limbaugh is a scumbag supreme with zero values and morally bankrupt.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:58 pmIt’s the truth that republicans are against embryonic stem cell research even though those embryos eill be thrown in the trash. This is stupid. This is why Michael J. Fox said what he said and why progressives are for embryonic stem cell research. Funny that Nancy Reagan, a hard-ass republican, is suddenly a progressive when it comes to embryonic stem cell research.

Indeed. Oh, and I forgot another group: those that can’t think for themselves. Maybe that’s why they think they know everything…it covers up for the fact that they don’t. So it’s about image.
October 24th, 2006 at 10:21 pmI don’t know if this was commented on previously above; if it has been, i am only reiterated, if it hasn’t then think about this a bit??? STOP!
Limbaugh is not an idiot, he just plays one on the radio. He first and foremost a businessman seeking to generate more wealth for himself (then a conservative talk show celebrity, and so forth). As such, this personal attack on MJ Fox is designed to create these sorts of discussions. Next week is the offical sweeps month for broadcast media. Any increase in Rush’s audience share from people paying attention to what he says about their celebrity hero, increase Rush’s advertising rates and wealth. It is just a sick perverted ploy, like the rest of that ilk’s efforts to stir up controversy outside of the upcoming election. Ignore the Rush lies along with all the other slanders and libels and character assasinations etc. We have a law to get rid of first.
October 24th, 2006 at 10:21 pmRepublicans are sick people > I heard about a debate between a female Repub Representative and a guy in a wheelchair > he said she accepted dirty money from Tom Delay, so she told him if he was not in a wheelchair then she would slap his face > GOP members are sick creepy weirdos!
October 24th, 2006 at 10:22 pmI really have to wonder if Rush and his ilk are literally dignosable sociopaths. Here’s a list of sociopathic traits. How many of these traits does Rush have? Read it for yourself and see if you can make the diagnosis.
# Glibness and Superficial Charm
# Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
# Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”
# Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.
# Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
# Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
# Incapacity for Love
# Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
# Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.
# Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
# Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.
# Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.
# Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.
# Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.
# Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
October 24th, 2006 at 10:25 pmChanges their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

October 24th, 2006 at 10:59 pmA personal memory by Paul Laverty who worked as a human rights lawyer in Nicaragua in the 1980s and is the screenwriter for five Ken Loach films.
I too have my favourite memories of the Great Communicator. Since I was based in Managua, Nicaragua, working for a human rights organisation, I particularly appreciated the man’s genius for persuasion when he declared Nicaragua – then with a population of 3 million – to be a major security threat to the existence of the United States. After all, it was only “two days march from Texas.â€
It also brought to mind my first funeral in a town called Esteli; an eight year old boy on yellow plastic seat, shaking and inconsolable, as deep atavistic sobs wracked his tiny body. He then rushed to grasp the coffin, which held his favourite uncle, just 18 years old. I remember the day a human rights report that came in from the North. The Contra forces attacked a cooperative. In the chaos a mother heard them torturing her daughter during the hours of darkness. In the morning they found her mutilated corpse in a ditch with her breasts cut off. The bodies mounted up faster than the human rights reports; literally, one abomination more vicious than the next which were beyond the imagination in their inventive cruelty.
On each occasion, before a vote in the US Congress seeking further financial support for the Contras, major human rights organisations, including Amnesty and Americas Watch, provided detailed and corroborated evidence of systematic murder and torture by the US funded Contras against the civilian population. That young woman’s fate was not some isolated aberration, but the fine detail of a campaign of terror.
I remember interviewing a teenage Contra arrested by the Sandinistas. He told me how he finished off the survivors of an ambush with his knife, mutilating them beyond recognition. President Reagan invited this boy’s leaders into the White House and in a cordial press conference declared them to be “freedom fighters†and “the equivalent of our founding fathersâ€.
All the evidence is there, easily accessible on the internet. It is inconceivable that Ronald Reagan did not know that the Contras he created with the help of William Casey, then head of the CIA, were torturers and murderers. He was their most important financier and champion. If there was any real justice, he would have been tried for his crimes against humanity, but it does raise important questions about why such a reasonable proposition is light years away from our current political reality.
But surely the least we can do to honour the dead – strange how only certain dead are worth remembering - is to call this man by his correct title. He may well have been an ex President, but he was also a terrorist who supported murder and torture. As Ronald Reagan is laid in State I can’t help but remember the child tossed into the ditch.
Congrats, Exley.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmMichael J. Fox is far to good a person to have to be abused by the stupid Rush Limbad.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmNo problem Zooey. You didn’t support that piece of crap Reagan…Exley did…and I want a response from him.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmIt is stupid of you not to de-bunk the lies his con-mercial posited. Happy?
The thread, as has been pointed out, is about Rush’s attack on Michael J. Fox. Also, as has been pointed out, Rush didn’t bother to attempt debunking the message in the ad. Why? Because it’s less dramatic. And that’s what Rush is all about. He doesn’t give a damn about who he smears or attacks. It’s all about the drama.
To the Rush supporter, so what if he didn’t bother checking his facts. Rush, like his supporters, doesn’t care about the facts behind Parkinson’s. If he had bothered checking into what makes Parkinson’s sufferers shake the way they do, then that would have ruined his day because he wouldn’t have any way of attacking the ad and wouldn’t be able to label Michael a fake and rile up his listeners.
Just the suggestion, born in Rush’s mind, that Michael was off his meds was enough to get him rolling. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s Rush’s defense of his remarks in the days to come. “Folks, it was just a suggestion. I wasn’t being serious.” I can hear the shit head now.
Rush is a big fat ass who apparently didn’t get much attention in his younger years. Now he’s making up for lost time by attacking people. His behavior today is not far off from that of his youth as he recently admitted that as a kid he used to order refrigerators from Sears and have them delivered to adults that he thought were “odd or wierd.”
“It would be fun to make fun of them,” he said. What a shame that he hasn’t grown up and still feels that way today.
Yes, God forbid that he would try to understand why they were odd or weird and have a little compassion. Let’s instead take advantage of them and put them in embarassing situations.
As for me debunking Michael J. Fox, you’d like that, wouldn’t you? Let’s take a look back at a post on TP:
The White House, pushing for research using adult stem cells, couldn’t name any researcher to support them. Can you? If so, then you will do what the current administration of the most powerful country on Earth was not able to do. All while proving what a damn failure this administration has been.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pm#96….Juan, “Quiet Riot?????” Ugh, your taste in music leaves MUCH to be desired. But to each his own.
#97, JPark…Well, at least we have Duran Duran in common. You are certainly entitled to hate Reagan. I am sorry for the loss of your father. Obviously, I do not nor could not know the circumstances your family endured in the 1980s. Each of our political beliefs and ideologies are shaped by our personal experiences. My personal experiences led me in one direction and yours in the other. I suppose all we can do is respect those differences and disagree with one another in a civil and amicable manner.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:02 pmWell, JPark, if one has a personal weakness, I’d rather it was Duran Duran, than underage boys.
Just quit saying Duran Duran. Shhhhh.
Ugh.

Or… Milli Vanilli.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:04 pmLimbaugh may or may not have been “technically” correct but had good reason to speculate. MJF claimed in his book that
“I had made a deliberate choice to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease, and the urgency we as a community were feeling, be seen as well as heard. For people who had never observed me in this kind of shape, the transformation must have been startling. ”
His history of “Grandstanding” his illness is UNQUESTIONABLE!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:05 pm#109 That is crap Exley. Reagan slashed survivers benefits!!! I don’t see you supporting that. I am lucky I am not some damn trailor trash loser that doesn’t contribute to society. Republican values tried damned hard to make me that way.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:05 pmLOL, I LOVE the Duran Duran Zooey :)
October 24th, 2006 at 11:06 pmTell me I deserved to be left behind Exley.

OMG, stop! I’m begging you!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:09 pmIt’s in his eyes (MJ Fox’s), hand and body movements…
Michael J. Fox is as American as Lou Gehrig. He’s the luckiest guy on the face of the Earth. He brings his, and others’, disease to the forefront of Americans and we, and science, WILL find a cure…
Laws be damned…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:09 pmHey, Exley. I lived in Nicaragua. I cant learn anything from a guy who hasnt left his country. Your TV set and your media is your opinion about the world. That shows. Please, dont try to teach me about what happened in Central America. (BTW, I said: Quiet Riot…at least!)
October 24th, 2006 at 11:11 pmJPark, As I said, I cannot know nor do I presume to know the circumstances surrounding your family’s situation. I cannot — nor do I wish to — debate your personal family history. It does neither one of us any good. As I said, your personal experiences have shaped your political beliefs and my experiences have shaped mine.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:12 pm#120 Come on!!!! It isn’t like they are Barry Manilow…or Neil Diamond (but I like him too :) )
October 24th, 2006 at 11:13 pmThis seems to be a therapeutic evening for our patient Exley. Good night. Good night….Good grief.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pmLaws be damned…
Comment by Theresa
Well said, Theresa.
Michael J. Fox is not going to use his illness for a political ideology. In that face you see the knowledge that his life is cut short; his wife will be a widow; and his children will be fatherless, long before their time.
It’s a medical issue that has been made into a political football, by people who don’t give a shit about anyone or anything but their own agenda.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pmI thought you’d have something on that, Juan. Absolutely horrendous.

There are no words to describe what human beings can do to others.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:15 pmExley, I am asking you to condemn me. Did I deserve to be sent to the slagheap of history? My father was a vet and an electrician…sounds pretty damned helpful to me. What do my brother and I deserve?
October 24th, 2006 at 11:16 pm#124, JPark — I realize you hate Reagan and dislike me for being a Reagan fan, but I thought you should know that I too love Neil Diamond music.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:16 pmJPark, no, please, not Barry Manilow.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:17 pmNeil Diamond, if you must, but not Barry Manilow.
Exley, do you realize that makes you an asshole? I am an intelligent guy who is paying substantial taxes. I wouldn’t be if my mom hadn’t been a fighter. You know what drives us? Our hatred of Republicans. You guys suck. Bigtime.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:18 pmExley, I don’t hate you. I think you are way too easily swayed by the moronic right though.
Zooey, no, no Manilow. Neil is the man though!!!!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:20 pm#34 Pete; thanks for the link, I sent him a note telling him to go f*ck himself.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pmExley, I don’t hate you personally despite my personal experiences. I think you actually have a heart. You need to have one experience with the Republican party to switch over. They are not nice people.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pmJuan, Actually, I had the great honor of being in Washington, D.C and being able to pay my respects, along with thousands of other Americans and people from around the world, to the great Ronald Reagan as he lay in state at the U.S. Capitol. The affection and respect the American people had for President Reagan was palpable that day, as was the sadness people around the world felt at his passing.
Because you claim to have lived in Nicaragua, I know that you too celebrate the life of Ronald Reagan–the man who helped defeat the communist dictatorship that terrorized that nation in the 1980s and who helped bring about democracy to Central America. On behalf of the United States, I say “You’re welcome”
October 24th, 2006 at 11:24 pmOk, after what you wrote to Juan I do not believe you have a heart, a brain, or any courage. I now consider you and incredible moron. It does not make me happy.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:29 pm#128, JPark, why would I “condemn” you….I know nothing of you. Even if we disagree politically, I would not condemn you. It is not my place to condemn anyone. Unless you have commited some terrible crime against your fellow human being (and I would assume you have not. You certainly do not seem to be the type), I cannot and will not condemn you. As I said earlier, you simply appear to someone with whom I disagree politically.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:29 pmI was just talking to a freind today, about Reagan’s corpse.

Did you bother reading a previous thread on TP that showed the medication makes him shake?
I’ve got an idea. Let’s hide Mike’s medication from him and he won’t shake anymore. Actually, he won’t be able to do anything. I’m quite sure Congress would have been impressed if he had just plopped down in a chair and sat there, motionless. There would have been at least one Congressman who would have said, “He’s a fake. There’s nothing wrong with him.”

October 24th, 2006 at 11:32 pmRush is just another member of the League of Stupid, Evil Republican Shitheads (LoSERS) without an ounce of shame or brain.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:33 pmRemember this?
And then there were the CIA manuals. The Central Intelligence Agency printed and distributed two booklets to the Contras. One was a 16-page comic book depicting techniques for sabotaging the Sandinista government from within, mostly through vandalism and demolition. It was essentially a course in monkeywrenching.
The other tract was a pamphlet entitled Psychological Operations in Guerrilla Warfare. It was basically a how-to manual for mounting a covert insurgency. One particularly chilling passage described the assassination of government officials:
Selective Use of Violence for Propagandistic Effects
It is possible to neutralize carefully selected and planned targets, such as court judges, mesta judges, police and State Security officials, CDS chiefs, etc. For psychological purposes it is necessary to gather together the population affected, so that they will be present, take part in the act, and formulate accusations against the oppressor.
When asked in November 1984 to clarify this passage from the manual, President Reagan claimed that the problem was just a misunderstanding which stemmed from a simple mistranslation:
PRESIDENT REAGAN: [T]here was nothing in that manual that had anything to do with assassinations or anything of that kind.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:33 pm[…]
REPORTER: Didn’t the manual say “neutralize?” And can’t that be construed as meaning “assassination?”
PRESIDENT REAGAN: I suppose you could construe it any number of — several ways. But in the context in which it was recommended — actually, that was not the choice, the original choice of the word. The real word was remove, meaning: “remove from office.” If you came into a village or town, remove from office representatives of the Sandinista government. When they translated it into the Spanish, they translated it “neutralize” instead of “remove.” But the meaning still remains the same.
REPORTER: Well, how would you go about doing that without violence and force?
PRESIDENT REAGAN: No. You just say to the fellow that’s sitting there in the office: “You’re not in the office anymore.”
Exley, you don’t get it. Policies affect people. If you supported Reagan’s policies you condemn me…and even worse you condemn Juan. Sick.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:34 pmAnd this:
“Today I am proud to deliver to the American people the result of the six months effort to review our policies and our capabilities to deal with terrorism. Our policy is clear, concise, unequivocal. We will offer no concession to terrorists, because that only leads to more terrorism. States that practice terrorism, or actively support it, will not be allowed to do so without consequence.”
October 24th, 2006 at 11:35 pmBrown Sugar and it was hotter than two rats screwin in a sock in an attic in St. Louis in August…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:35 pmOh, and don’t forget this:
the following proposal has evolved which the Iranians today said they wd like to discuss in detail on Saturday: — The total “package” from the Israelis wd consist of 50 HAWKs w/PIP (product improvement package) and 3300 basic TOWs. — Deliveries wd commence on or about 12 December as follows:
H hr: 1 707 w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+10hrs: 1 707 (same A/C) w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+16hrs: 1 747 w/50 HAWKs & 400 TOWs = 2 AMCITs
H+20hrs: 1 707 w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+24hrs: 1 747 w/2000 TOWs = French Hostage
AMCIT stands for “American citizen.” Therefore, the average American citizen was evidently valued at 260 TOW anti-tank missiles and 10 HAWK anti-aircraft missiles.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:36 pm#140 Damnit, I want to feel sorry for myself and this guy totally insults Juan. Bastard Exley!!!!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:37 pm#140, Zooey, If you expect me to apologize for supporting the overthrow of the communist Sandinista government of 1980s Nicaragua, which tortured and slaughtered thousands of innocents, you will be waiting quite a long time. October 24th, 2006 at 11:42 pmIf the Falwellian GrOPers ever got hold of a time machine we would all dissapear in a puff of cold blue smoke…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:42 pmAnd they began transferring weapons 39 days after Reagan said this:
“Iran, Libya, North Korea, Cuba, Nicaragua — continents away, tens of thousands of miles apart, but the same goals and objectives. I submit to you that the growth in terrorism in recent years results from the increasing involvement of these states in terrorism in every region of the world. This is terrorism that is part of a pattern, the work of a confederation of terrorist states. Most of the terrorists who are kidnapping and murdering American citizens and attacking American installations are being trained, financed, and directly or indirectly controlled by a core group of radical and totalitarian governments — a new, international version of Murder, Incorporated. And all of these states are united by one simple criminal phenomenon — their fanatical hatred of the United States, our people, our way of life, our international stature.”
Reagan was a traitor, who beat the law by way of a medical infirmity. He was responsible for deaths on both sides of the Iran/Iraq war, and the deaths perpetrated by the Contras.
And Exley idolizes him.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:43 pm#145, Exley, you don’t get it. Policies affect people.

October 24th, 2006 at 11:45 pm#151 No, I don’t buy it. I once thought he had a heart. No longer. I gave him my story, which is something he could relate to. He occasionally gives you a hint that he might not be a total neocon punk. It isn’t true. Republicans have made my life harder than it could have been but not nearly like yours. But Exley doesn’t get either of our situations. He is a joke.

I agree with you wholeheartedly … except for the donating eggs part because of my gender. I also didn’t know about Parkinson’s and what the medication did. I at least thank Rush for bringing it up but apparently whereas I learned something in the last few days, he hasn’t learned a thing or just plain refuses to accept the facts for his own selfish ends.

Thanks, you’re fabulous.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:58 pm#171, Actually, you are right, Vincennes, I do like many people here and I do like liberals (As the cliche goes, some of my best friends are liberals — We just have a pact never to discuss politics in person. Gets too heated). I don’t let political differences dictate my feelings about people. I can disagree with them and debate them (and, quite frankly, recognize that they are frequently incorrect factually). But I never (well, almost) let it become personal. Take Juan, for example. Couldn’t disagree with him more on most subject. In fact, I know he is wrong (both factually and philosophically) on many, many points. But, as a whole, he seems like a decent chap. Look at Zooey. She hates my politics. Yet, I think we all can sense the mutual attraction there. If I didn’t find liberals fascinating (but salvagable) I wouldn’t be here….
