Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly attacked actor Michael J. Fox for appearing in television campaign ads promoting stem cell research. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, appears “visibly racked by tremors” in the ads.
“He is exaggerating the effects of the disease,” Limbaugh told listeners yesterday. “He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act. … This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.”
According to the National Parkinson Foundation, Limbaugh has no idea what he’s talking about. The Washington Post reports:
[I]n an interview in Ladies Home Journal’s September edition, Fox said he was taking a medication that causes jerking, fidgeting and other abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesia. Fox said he was taking another medication to lessen those side affects.
An official of the National Parkinson Foundation said movements like those exhibited by Fox are the result of taking medication to treat the disease, which would otherwise result in rigidity.
“When you see someone with those movements, it’s not because they have not taken medication but because they probably have taken medication for some time,” the official said. “If you don’t take the medication, then you freeze.”
Limbaugh continued the assault today, calling Fox’s video “an attack ad” that is “filled with disinformation about embryonic stem cell research.”
Rush Limpdick is a big fat idiot.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:19 pmRush is just jealous cause his little winky has no movement no matter how much he moves around or shakes it.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:22 pmI think Rush is faking his impotency.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:25 pmOh my god, Limbaugh, just shut up! There is no help for someone like you.
I have seen first hand exactly what Parkinson’s Disease does to a person, and it is devastating. It takes everything from the person, inch by inch, until they are a shell of their former selves. To ridicule someone with this disease — any disease — is purely moronic.
Why do people listen to that idiot!?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:35 pmIM A PHARMACIST
THOSE SYMPTOMS ARE CALLED “TARDIVE DYSKINESIA” …
THEY ARE AN IRREVERSIBLE SIDE EFFECT OF L-DOPA … THE ONLY MEDICATION THAT WORKS ON PARKINSON’S DISEASE
October 24th, 2006 at 8:37 pmThis is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.â€
No, Rush, it is shameless of you to say that someone is faking their disability, when it is widely known they’ve suffered it for while.
I bet you are not above tripping blind people, or taking away insulin from the diabetic -you know, in case they are “faking it”.
It is even more shameless that you should open your big, foul mouth to spew your ignorant babble on a daily basis. But then, if you had any sense of decency, you would have quit your job a long time ago.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:38 pmFox is faking his Parkinson’s symptoms just the same way that Bush is faking mental incompetence. Fox isn’t really sick, and Bush is actually a member of Mensa. Welcome to the strange twilight zone that is the world of Rush Limbaugh.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:38 pmDespicable.
I have a friend who has Parkinson’s. She moves very much like Michael J. Fox moved in the video. And the types of drugs Parkinson’s people take DO cause tardive dyskinesia. As a medical librarian who has read a great deal of medical literature and done lit searches for people on all sorts of medical topics, I’ve had ample opportunity to read up on side effects of drugs and about tardive dyskinesia.
So NO, Michael J. Fox was faking nothing. Besides, even if he did go off his meds to make the video, how does that change the fact that stem cell research holds promise for helping people with Parkinson’s?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:40 pmSo, if somebody gives the big fat pig some of this medication, will he exhibit the same side effects?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:42 pmDidn’t Jesus say, somewhere, to kick the infirmed when they are down?
October 24th, 2006 at 8:43 pm> Rush Limpdick is a big fat idiot.
No need to belabour the patently obvious. The stem cells that this silly construct grew out of must wish they had stopped meiosis when it was still time.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:43 pmLimbaugh is a propogandist and a liar who will say anything to make Democrats look bad and the GOP look good. We all know that already. While that’s creepy in it’s own right, at least the motives of greed and power make sense, in a sociopathic kind of way.
But the people who LISTEN to him and BELIEVE what he says? That’s a MUCH scarier reflection on this country, IMO.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:45 pmLimbaugh’s BS and lies play just fine to his loyal legion of dullards who regularly and uncritically take in his nonsense. Just remember that this is the same man who was fired from his Monday Night Football job for his racist and hateful comments about an African American quarterback. Limbaugh learned the hard way that his BS does not play well away from the protective bubble of his studio where dittheads hang on his every word.
For years the GOP have hidden their hateful policies behind catch phrases (“compassionate conservatismâ€) and the chuckleheaded giggles of clowns like Hannity and Limbaugh. They are angry about immigrants, blacks, women, poor people, teachers, unions, and most of all Democrats who appear to be real reason behind Bush’s failed Presidency.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:51 pmLimbaugh has no credibility whatsoever at this point.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:52 pmWatching the political commercial Michael J. Fox did for Jim Talents’ Missouri opponent was very sad to see. It broke my heart. What broke my heart almost as much was listening to his distortion of the Republican stem cell position. Repubs are NOT against stem cell research – cord cells and adult stem cells and a number of embyonic stem cell lines are all favoured by Repubs – but you’d never know it from the lies the writers of that con-mercial.
October 24th, 2006 at 8:58 pmbut you’d never know it from the lies the writers of that con-mercial.
Comment by mighty+aphrodite — October 24, 2006 @ 8:58 pm
The thread is about what Rush said..What are your thoughts on that? My father died from that diease, to have that once fat bastard say what he did makes my blood boil. and you say?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:06 pmNaturally, while ROTFL, some posters are unable to comment on the lack of veracity of Michael J. Fox’ statement. I feel badly he suffers from such a terrible disease. I also feel badly he lies about the conservative position on stem cell research.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:11 pmI think you should all have a listen to this. Judging from the comments for this story, I think you’ll really appreciate it.
Rush Limbaugh subject of stand-up
This is of course stand up from the amazing Bill Hicks. Contains graphic language!
October 24th, 2006 at 9:15 pmDear JoeFriday – Rush was stupid to say such a thing about Michael J. Fox. Happy??
Now please defend the LIES of Michael J. Fox’s con-mercial….because naturally, the substance of the con-mercial was NOT important to you or TP – but the poignant, weepy SYMBOLISM was…..
October 24th, 2006 at 9:15 pmI also feel badly he lies about the conservative position on stem cell research.
Comment by mighty+aphrodite — October 24, 2006 @ 9:11 pm
Why do you think he is ” lying about it “? However, the main point and question was what is your opinon of Rush making those statements-that should not be so hard.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:16 pmI don’t mean to paint a whole group as nasty, but it seems to me Republicans are particularly cruel when it comes to minorities and those who have physical problems (macaca, the new ad by Bob Corker against Harold Ford in TN, now someone with a debilitating disease).
October 24th, 2006 at 9:19 pmSuch hypocrites: pretending to have compassion as they debase others.
I’m surprised at how much press this is getting. Rush has been saying outlandish and untrue stuff for years – why is he only just now getting called on it? Beware the power of Alex P. Keaton!
October 24th, 2006 at 9:20 pmAmerica’s Least Wanted
I’ve found that anyone that needs to have his or her politics spoon-fed to them by the likes of Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have much, if any, credence to anything they say. It’s really very simple, believe propaganda or seek and accept the truth. I just don’t understand that some people would rather espouse the propaganda and deny the simple truth at any cost. And the king of repugnance, the doper du jour, the junkie jockey, the blowhard blatherbag, the marriage migrant, draft dodging douche-waste of donkey dung, asswipe of all assholes, Rush Limbaugh is the lyingest liar of all liars and gets paid millions of dollars to do so. Would he continue to let all of his smegma slime ooze from his mouth if he didn’t get paid for it?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:21 pmRush is an authority on taking medication? Which medication would that be I wonder?
October 24th, 2006 at 9:21 pmIf the commercial Michael J. Fox made was filled with lies and disinformation, why didn’t Rush simply refute the statements made by Fox? Why did he instead launch into a twisted attack upon Fox, who is suffering from parkinsons?
Main reason of course, Rush has no shame.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:23 pmBLIAR – If you understood the advances made by researchers using cord stem cells, you might be worth more response time. But your lies flow nicely from the sympathetic Mr. Fox’s lies – maybe you have a new friend….

Comment by Zooey — October 24, 2006 @ 8:35 pm
It’s the arrogance & power factors. They are the kind of people who like to think they are right about everything and hate to be proven wrong. Rush feeds them.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:25 pmRush can spew his garbage all he wants, but the only people listening to him are bumpkins that couldn’t point out iraq on a map of iraq!
I know of no intelligent person that could possibly take him seriously, except some republicans that use him to stir up the rabble.
This from a man so moral, he admitted to dr. shopping for oxycontin…
October 24th, 2006 at 9:26 pm“But George Bush and Michael Steele would put limits on the most promising stem cell research.” So MA what is the lie in that? Many people believe that embryonic stem cells are “The most promising”. and you say?

How about “Rush was a heartless son of a bitch to attack someone with Parkinson’s Disease.”
October 24th, 2006 at 9:29 pmI must admit I have great affection for Michael J. Fox. When I was in high school, I was often compared to Alex P. Keaton (Yes, I was ALWAYS a conservative). So, if it comes to choosing sides between Limbaugh and my doppelganger, I will go with Michael J. Fox every time!

October 24th, 2006 at 9:56 pm#37 – “Many people believe that embryonic stem cells are “The most promisingâ€. and you say?” – Comment by Joefriday
********”Many people”? Many people believe the way to heaven is to kill infidels and be rewarded with 70+ virgins in heaven. So what? Cord stem cell research has been extremely promising and I support it fully. You are right about Limbaugh’s hyperbole – but voters would appreciate a bit less distortion of the facts.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:56 pmWhat if Rush was stricken with Parkinson’s Disease. Can you imagine him suffering from the body tremors, brought on by his medication, and trying to light that big, fat phallic symbol of a cigar he likes to smoke? I can hear him now, “how dare you attack someone suffering from a dibilitating disease!”
Rush Limbaugh is a scumbag supreme with zero values and morally bankrupt.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:58 pmIt’s the truth that republicans are against embryonic stem cell research even though those embryos eill be thrown in the trash. This is stupid. This is why Michael J. Fox said what he said and why progressives are for embryonic stem cell research. Funny that Nancy Reagan, a hard-ass republican, is suddenly a progressive when it comes to embryonic stem cell research.

Indeed. Oh, and I forgot another group: those that can’t think for themselves. Maybe that’s why they think they know everything…it covers up for the fact that they don’t. So it’s about image.
October 24th, 2006 at 10:21 pmI don’t know if this was commented on previously above; if it has been, i am only reiterated, if it hasn’t then think about this a bit??? STOP!
Limbaugh is not an idiot, he just plays one on the radio. He first and foremost a businessman seeking to generate more wealth for himself (then a conservative talk show celebrity, and so forth). As such, this personal attack on MJ Fox is designed to create these sorts of discussions. Next week is the offical sweeps month for broadcast media. Any increase in Rush’s audience share from people paying attention to what he says about their celebrity hero, increase Rush’s advertising rates and wealth. It is just a sick perverted ploy, like the rest of that ilk’s efforts to stir up controversy outside of the upcoming election. Ignore the Rush lies along with all the other slanders and libels and character assasinations etc. We have a law to get rid of first.
October 24th, 2006 at 10:21 pmRepublicans are sick people > I heard about a debate between a female Repub Representative and a guy in a wheelchair > he said she accepted dirty money from Tom Delay, so she told him if he was not in a wheelchair then she would slap his face > GOP members are sick creepy weirdos!
October 24th, 2006 at 10:22 pmI really have to wonder if Rush and his ilk are literally dignosable sociopaths. Here’s a list of sociopathic traits. How many of these traits does Rush have? Read it for yourself and see if you can make the diagnosis.
# Glibness and Superficial Charm
# Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
# Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”
# Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.
# Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
# Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
# Incapacity for Love
# Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
# Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.
# Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
# Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.
# Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.
# Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.
# Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.
# Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
October 24th, 2006 at 10:25 pmChanges their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

October 24th, 2006 at 10:59 pmA personal memory by Paul Laverty who worked as a human rights lawyer in Nicaragua in the 1980s and is the screenwriter for five Ken Loach films.
I too have my favourite memories of the Great Communicator. Since I was based in Managua, Nicaragua, working for a human rights organisation, I particularly appreciated the man’s genius for persuasion when he declared Nicaragua – then with a population of 3 million – to be a major security threat to the existence of the United States. After all, it was only “two days march from Texas.â€
It also brought to mind my first funeral in a town called Esteli; an eight year old boy on yellow plastic seat, shaking and inconsolable, as deep atavistic sobs wracked his tiny body. He then rushed to grasp the coffin, which held his favourite uncle, just 18 years old. I remember the day a human rights report that came in from the North. The Contra forces attacked a cooperative. In the chaos a mother heard them torturing her daughter during the hours of darkness. In the morning they found her mutilated corpse in a ditch with her breasts cut off. The bodies mounted up faster than the human rights reports; literally, one abomination more vicious than the next which were beyond the imagination in their inventive cruelty.
On each occasion, before a vote in the US Congress seeking further financial support for the Contras, major human rights organisations, including Amnesty and Americas Watch, provided detailed and corroborated evidence of systematic murder and torture by the US funded Contras against the civilian population. That young woman’s fate was not some isolated aberration, but the fine detail of a campaign of terror.
I remember interviewing a teenage Contra arrested by the Sandinistas. He told me how he finished off the survivors of an ambush with his knife, mutilating them beyond recognition. President Reagan invited this boy’s leaders into the White House and in a cordial press conference declared them to be “freedom fighters†and “the equivalent of our founding fathersâ€.
All the evidence is there, easily accessible on the internet. It is inconceivable that Ronald Reagan did not know that the Contras he created with the help of William Casey, then head of the CIA, were torturers and murderers. He was their most important financier and champion. If there was any real justice, he would have been tried for his crimes against humanity, but it does raise important questions about why such a reasonable proposition is light years away from our current political reality.
But surely the least we can do to honour the dead – strange how only certain dead are worth remembering – is to call this man by his correct title. He may well have been an ex President, but he was also a terrorist who supported murder and torture. As Ronald Reagan is laid in State I can’t help but remember the child tossed into the ditch.
Congrats, Exley.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmMichael J. Fox is far to good a person to have to be abused by the stupid Rush Limbad.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmNo problem Zooey. You didn’t support that piece of crap Reagan…Exley did…and I want a response from him.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmIt is stupid of you not to de-bunk the lies his con-mercial posited. Happy?
The thread, as has been pointed out, is about Rush’s attack on Michael J. Fox. Also, as has been pointed out, Rush didn’t bother to attempt debunking the message in the ad. Why? Because it’s less dramatic. And that’s what Rush is all about. He doesn’t give a damn about who he smears or attacks. It’s all about the drama.
To the Rush supporter, so what if he didn’t bother checking his facts. Rush, like his supporters, doesn’t care about the facts behind Parkinson’s. If he had bothered checking into what makes Parkinson’s sufferers shake the way they do, then that would have ruined his day because he wouldn’t have any way of attacking the ad and wouldn’t be able to label Michael a fake and rile up his listeners.
Just the suggestion, born in Rush’s mind, that Michael was off his meds was enough to get him rolling. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s Rush’s defense of his remarks in the days to come. “Folks, it was just a suggestion. I wasn’t being serious.” I can hear the shit head now.
Rush is a big fat ass who apparently didn’t get much attention in his younger years. Now he’s making up for lost time by attacking people. His behavior today is not far off from that of his youth as he recently admitted that as a kid he used to order refrigerators from Sears and have them delivered to adults that he thought were “odd or wierd.”
“It would be fun to make fun of them,” he said. What a shame that he hasn’t grown up and still feels that way today.
Yes, God forbid that he would try to understand why they were odd or weird and have a little compassion. Let’s instead take advantage of them and put them in embarassing situations.
As for me debunking Michael J. Fox, you’d like that, wouldn’t you? Let’s take a look back at a post on TP:
The White House, pushing for research using adult stem cells, couldn’t name any researcher to support them. Can you? If so, then you will do what the current administration of the most powerful country on Earth was not able to do. All while proving what a damn failure this administration has been.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pm#96….Juan, “Quiet Riot?????” Ugh, your taste in music leaves MUCH to be desired. But to each his own.
#97, JPark…Well, at least we have Duran Duran in common. You are certainly entitled to hate Reagan. I am sorry for the loss of your father. Obviously, I do not nor could not know the circumstances your family endured in the 1980s. Each of our political beliefs and ideologies are shaped by our personal experiences. My personal experiences led me in one direction and yours in the other. I suppose all we can do is respect those differences and disagree with one another in a civil and amicable manner.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:02 pmWell, JPark, if one has a personal weakness, I’d rather it was Duran Duran, than underage boys.
Just quit saying Duran Duran. Shhhhh.
Ugh.

Or… Milli Vanilli.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:04 pmLimbaugh may or may not have been “technically” correct but had good reason to speculate. MJF claimed in his book that
“I had made a deliberate choice to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease, and the urgency we as a community were feeling, be seen as well as heard. For people who had never observed me in this kind of shape, the transformation must have been startling. ”
His history of “Grandstanding” his illness is UNQUESTIONABLE!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:05 pm#109 That is crap Exley. Reagan slashed survivers benefits!!! I don’t see you supporting that. I am lucky I am not some damn trailor trash loser that doesn’t contribute to society. Republican values tried damned hard to make me that way.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:05 pmLOL, I LOVE the Duran Duran Zooey :)
October 24th, 2006 at 11:06 pmTell me I deserved to be left behind Exley.

OMG, stop! I’m begging you!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:09 pmIt’s in his eyes (MJ Fox’s), hand and body movements…
Michael J. Fox is as American as Lou Gehrig. He’s the luckiest guy on the face of the Earth. He brings his, and others’, disease to the forefront of Americans and we, and science, WILL find a cure…
Laws be damned…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:09 pmHey, Exley. I lived in Nicaragua. I cant learn anything from a guy who hasnt left his country. Your TV set and your media is your opinion about the world. That shows. Please, dont try to teach me about what happened in Central America. (BTW, I said: Quiet Riot…at least!)
October 24th, 2006 at 11:11 pmJPark, As I said, I cannot know nor do I presume to know the circumstances surrounding your family’s situation. I cannot — nor do I wish to — debate your personal family history. It does neither one of us any good. As I said, your personal experiences have shaped your political beliefs and my experiences have shaped mine.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:12 pm#120 Come on!!!! It isn’t like they are Barry Manilow…or Neil Diamond (but I like him too :) )
October 24th, 2006 at 11:13 pmThis seems to be a therapeutic evening for our patient Exley. Good night. Good night….Good grief.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pmLaws be damned…
Comment by Theresa
Well said, Theresa.
Michael J. Fox is not going to use his illness for a political ideology. In that face you see the knowledge that his life is cut short; his wife will be a widow; and his children will be fatherless, long before their time.
It’s a medical issue that has been made into a political football, by people who don’t give a shit about anyone or anything but their own agenda.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pmI thought you’d have something on that, Juan. Absolutely horrendous.

There are no words to describe what human beings can do to others.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:15 pmExley, I am asking you to condemn me. Did I deserve to be sent to the slagheap of history? My father was a vet and an electrician…sounds pretty damned helpful to me. What do my brother and I deserve?
October 24th, 2006 at 11:16 pm#124, JPark — I realize you hate Reagan and dislike me for being a Reagan fan, but I thought you should know that I too love Neil Diamond music.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:16 pmJPark, no, please, not Barry Manilow.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:17 pmNeil Diamond, if you must, but not Barry Manilow.
Exley, do you realize that makes you an asshole? I am an intelligent guy who is paying substantial taxes. I wouldn’t be if my mom hadn’t been a fighter. You know what drives us? Our hatred of Republicans. You guys suck. Bigtime.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:18 pmExley, I don’t hate you. I think you are way too easily swayed by the moronic right though.
Zooey, no, no Manilow. Neil is the man though!!!!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:20 pm#34 Pete; thanks for the link, I sent him a note telling him to go f*ck himself.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pmExley, I don’t hate you personally despite my personal experiences. I think you actually have a heart. You need to have one experience with the Republican party to switch over. They are not nice people.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pmJuan, Actually, I had the great honor of being in Washington, D.C and being able to pay my respects, along with thousands of other Americans and people from around the world, to the great Ronald Reagan as he lay in state at the U.S. Capitol. The affection and respect the American people had for President Reagan was palpable that day, as was the sadness people around the world felt at his passing.
Because you claim to have lived in Nicaragua, I know that you too celebrate the life of Ronald Reagan–the man who helped defeat the communist dictatorship that terrorized that nation in the 1980s and who helped bring about democracy to Central America. On behalf of the United States, I say “You’re welcome”
October 24th, 2006 at 11:24 pmOk, after what you wrote to Juan I do not believe you have a heart, a brain, or any courage. I now consider you and incredible moron. It does not make me happy.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:29 pm#128, JPark, why would I “condemn” you….I know nothing of you. Even if we disagree politically, I would not condemn you. It is not my place to condemn anyone. Unless you have commited some terrible crime against your fellow human being (and I would assume you have not. You certainly do not seem to be the type), I cannot and will not condemn you. As I said earlier, you simply appear to someone with whom I disagree politically.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:29 pmI was just talking to a freind today, about Reagan’s corpse.

Did you bother reading a previous thread on TP that showed the medication makes him shake?
I’ve got an idea. Let’s hide Mike’s medication from him and he won’t shake anymore. Actually, he won’t be able to do anything. I’m quite sure Congress would have been impressed if he had just plopped down in a chair and sat there, motionless. There would have been at least one Congressman who would have said, “He’s a fake. There’s nothing wrong with him.”

October 24th, 2006 at 11:32 pmRush is just another member of the League of Stupid, Evil Republican Shitheads (LoSERS) without an ounce of shame or brain.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:33 pmRemember this?
And then there were the CIA manuals. The Central Intelligence Agency printed and distributed two booklets to the Contras. One was a 16-page comic book depicting techniques for sabotaging the Sandinista government from within, mostly through vandalism and demolition. It was essentially a course in monkeywrenching.
The other tract was a pamphlet entitled Psychological Operations in Guerrilla Warfare. It was basically a how-to manual for mounting a covert insurgency. One particularly chilling passage described the assassination of government officials:
Selective Use of Violence for Propagandistic Effects
It is possible to neutralize carefully selected and planned targets, such as court judges, mesta judges, police and State Security officials, CDS chiefs, etc. For psychological purposes it is necessary to gather together the population affected, so that they will be present, take part in the act, and formulate accusations against the oppressor.
When asked in November 1984 to clarify this passage from the manual, President Reagan claimed that the problem was just a misunderstanding which stemmed from a simple mistranslation:
PRESIDENT REAGAN: [T]here was nothing in that manual that had anything to do with assassinations or anything of that kind.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:33 pm[...]
REPORTER: Didn’t the manual say “neutralize?” And can’t that be construed as meaning “assassination?”
PRESIDENT REAGAN: I suppose you could construe it any number of — several ways. But in the context in which it was recommended — actually, that was not the choice, the original choice of the word. The real word was remove, meaning: “remove from office.” If you came into a village or town, remove from office representatives of the Sandinista government. When they translated it into the Spanish, they translated it “neutralize” instead of “remove.” But the meaning still remains the same.
REPORTER: Well, how would you go about doing that without violence and force?
PRESIDENT REAGAN: No. You just say to the fellow that’s sitting there in the office: “You’re not in the office anymore.”
Exley, you don’t get it. Policies affect people. If you supported Reagan’s policies you condemn me…and even worse you condemn Juan. Sick.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:34 pmAnd this:
“Today I am proud to deliver to the American people the result of the six months effort to review our policies and our capabilities to deal with terrorism. Our policy is clear, concise, unequivocal. We will offer no concession to terrorists, because that only leads to more terrorism. States that practice terrorism, or actively support it, will not be allowed to do so without consequence.”
October 24th, 2006 at 11:35 pmBrown Sugar and it was hotter than two rats screwin in a sock in an attic in St. Louis in August…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:35 pmOh, and don’t forget this:
the following proposal has evolved which the Iranians today said they wd like to discuss in detail on Saturday: — The total “package” from the Israelis wd consist of 50 HAWKs w/PIP (product improvement package) and 3300 basic TOWs. — Deliveries wd commence on or about 12 December as follows:
H hr: 1 707 w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+10hrs: 1 707 (same A/C) w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+16hrs: 1 747 w/50 HAWKs & 400 TOWs = 2 AMCITs
H+20hrs: 1 707 w/300 TOWs = 1 AMCIT
H+24hrs: 1 747 w/2000 TOWs = French Hostage
AMCIT stands for “American citizen.” Therefore, the average American citizen was evidently valued at 260 TOW anti-tank missiles and 10 HAWK anti-aircraft missiles.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:36 pm#140 Damnit, I want to feel sorry for myself and this guy totally insults Juan. Bastard Exley!!!!
October 24th, 2006 at 11:37 pm#140, Zooey, If you expect me to apologize for supporting the overthrow of the communist Sandinista government of 1980s Nicaragua, which tortured and slaughtered thousands of innocents, you will be waiting quite a long time. October 24th, 2006 at 11:42 pmIf the Falwellian GrOPers ever got hold of a time machine we would all dissapear in a puff of cold blue smoke…
October 24th, 2006 at 11:42 pmAnd they began transferring weapons 39 days after Reagan said this:
“Iran, Libya, North Korea, Cuba, Nicaragua — continents away, tens of thousands of miles apart, but the same goals and objectives. I submit to you that the growth in terrorism in recent years results from the increasing involvement of these states in terrorism in every region of the world. This is terrorism that is part of a pattern, the work of a confederation of terrorist states. Most of the terrorists who are kidnapping and murdering American citizens and attacking American installations are being trained, financed, and directly or indirectly controlled by a core group of radical and totalitarian governments — a new, international version of Murder, Incorporated. And all of these states are united by one simple criminal phenomenon — their fanatical hatred of the United States, our people, our way of life, our international stature.”
Reagan was a traitor, who beat the law by way of a medical infirmity. He was responsible for deaths on both sides of the Iran/Iraq war, and the deaths perpetrated by the Contras.
And Exley idolizes him.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:43 pm#145, Exley, you don’t get it. Policies affect people.

October 24th, 2006 at 11:45 pm#151 No, I don’t buy it. I once thought he had a heart. No longer. I gave him my story, which is something he could relate to. He occasionally gives you a hint that he might not be a total neocon punk. It isn’t true. Republicans have made my life harder than it could have been but not nearly like yours. But Exley doesn’t get either of our situations. He is a joke.

I agree with you wholeheartedly … except for the donating eggs part because of my gender. I also didn’t know about Parkinson’s and what the medication did. I at least thank Rush for bringing it up but apparently whereas I learned something in the last few days, he hasn’t learned a thing or just plain refuses to accept the facts for his own selfish ends.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:58 pm#177 Zooey likes me :) She likes sensitive guys that are against the war and against evil, arrogant pieces of shit like you!! I hope I didn’t take too many liberties with that Zooey. :)

Thanks, you’re fabulous.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:58 pm#171, Actually, you are right, Vincennes, I do like many people here and I do like liberals (As the cliche goes, some of my best friends are liberals — We just have a pact never to discuss politics in person. Gets too heated). I don’t let political differences dictate my feelings about people. I can disagree with them and debate them (and, quite frankly, recognize that they are frequently incorrect factually). But I never (well, almost) let it become personal. Take Juan, for example. Couldn’t disagree with him more on most subject. In fact, I know he is wrong (both factually and philosophically) on many, many points. But, as a whole, he seems like a decent chap. Look at Zooey. She hates my politics. Yet, I think we all can sense the mutual attraction there. If I didn’t find liberals fascinating (but salvagable) I wouldn’t be here….

October 25th, 2006 at 12:05 amOh Please, I have many republican neighbors and never has it become ugly, Hell we all realize politicians basically suck.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:05 amThanks Juan. I certainly hope our policies have not screwed you up too much.

Im from Argentina, so…yes, US government did that along with our corrupted governments. They imposed military dictatorship from the early 70s to 82 leaving 30,000 dead or missing persons. They said communism was a threat to South America…and that is 100% right. In a communist state, we wouldnt be eating McDonalds, KFC or shopping the Gap products. We would be eating our own products.
But thanks a lot for your words. As I always say: People have almost nothing to do with their government´s doings.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:06 am#194, JPark, As I said, I do not know your and your family’s history. I cannot debate that. Obviously, something happened that made you disapprove of Ronald Reagan and the Republican Party. I would not presume to tell you you are wrong to feel that way. I happen to feel differently.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:07 amHey isn’t that pick up line Foley used?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:07 amNot sure what you see in Zooey that you would be so engrossed, Exley. We progs are because she is awesome but she would kick your ass every night. Are you masochistic?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:09 amVincennes, I’m sorry for mistaking you for a TP fledgling, but lying as consistently as he does, puts Exley outside the bounds of honest debate.
Did you happen to see “the Exley Files” I posted a few weeks ago? I could repost it, but if I did, it would become a ghost-town up in here.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:10 amI love Think Progress, reading this thread shows it. I see our oposers making some progress to the middle. When they say ‘The reason I think this way is:’ we can discuss it. I use to fight with a troll last year, and then one night, I agreed with one of his thoughts, and I told him so. Now he is one of thoes who’s in the middle. Remember..it’s the bad republilcans and bad christians who are doing all this. My parents were libral republicans and my one brother and I were conservitive democrats, and we all got a long fine. Actions speak louder than LABLES and partys. So,rust limpdong, eat S*** and die…..
October 25th, 2006 at 12:10 am#200 I told you my family history. You like it?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:10 am#198, Dog, I agree with you that it is silly that we cannot have a good political debate in person without it getting too heated (We know do all our “debates” via e-mail)….But, we have learned from experience. Things once got very nasty during a discussion, so we adopted this rule (I do think that this particularly unpleasant discussion took place just days after 9/11 contributed to the passions and that we could probably get along better these days, but we have become so used to the e-mails debates that we keep it that way).
October 25th, 2006 at 12:11 amI am very sorry Juan, I have voted for Dems all the way. I am so sorry our gov’t has screwed up you country so much.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:12 amExley, you don’t get “too heated” because it means nothing to you. There is no personal stake for you.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:15 amI think the only person more obsessed with me than Zooey is Barfly. He still obviously feels burned that I have corrected him a great number of historical mistakes he has uttered. Barfly, let it go. So, I have had to teach you some history (such as when you mistakenly said that the regimes of Pol Pot and the Shah of Iran coincided with that of Saddam Hussein’s). Just say, “Thank you, Exley,” and move on.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:16 amShe hates my politics. Yet, I think we all can sense the mutual attraction there.

October 25th, 2006 at 12:19 amExley, you pathetic right wing troll. I no longer have any respect for you. You love your Reagan, you love your Bush. You have no belief other than what Limbaugh and Hannity tell you. Screw reality.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:22 amI also really dig Duran Duran! Did you know that they got their name from a character from the film “Barbarella”, starring famous Liberal, Jane Fonda? I had HUGE crushes on Tim Curry (”Dr. Frank-n-Furter”) and Nick Rhodes. Both guys wearing makeup, what was that about?!? Ah… details. Anyway I like Barry Manilow too, cause he used to play piano for Bette Midler in Gay Bath Houses, before they got famous. I really love quirky things. Like most of you people here! ;P
October 25th, 2006 at 12:23 am#213 LOL, bumped uglies. I love it!!!
October 25th, 2006 at 12:23 amSomebody explain it to me again – please!
WHY ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION WITH THE TROLLS?
They come here to be disagreeable and inflame the discourse.
If we ignore them, they don’t get to sit around imagining they are superior and perhaps would GO AWAY. (It would be different if they brought something besides ego and nonsense to the thread.)

October 25th, 2006 at 12:27 am#199, Juan, Explain this to me: You have frequently criticized the liberation of Iraq by saying that it was not up to the U.S.-led Coalition to liberate Iraq and that if the Iraqi people really wanted to be rid of Saddam, they should have or would have done it themselves.
Using your logic, wasn’t it up to the Argentinian people to rid themselves of the “military dictatorship” you describe? Again, employing your logic (not mine), aren’t you saying that the misery you describe having been perpetrated on Argentina was in fact the fault of the Argentinian people?

October 25th, 2006 at 12:33 am#224, JPark, are you referring to my question in posting #219? If so, of course I am asking Juan for a response. I would be curious for him to explain why Saddam’s regime was the responsibility of the Iraqi people and earninng their freedom their own responsibility, but the military dictatorships in Argentina he describes were somehow the responsibility of the United States and that the Argentinian people had no responsibility to rid themselves of their oppressive government.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:37 amMA, don’t be a moron. You didn’t have any problems because you were supposedly a woman. Nice affirmative action, hypocrite.

October 25th, 2006 at 12:40 amNo, Exley, I am asking why you are such an ahole? I am asking why you think that making it ever more tough to succeed. I am a very intelligent person. Republcans wanted to halt that. You are cool with that?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:41 amHI ZOOEY!!! Remember me? How is you muscle doing? You were medicated last time we typed. I’m starting to feel like the ‘ugly red-headed step-child’.

“imagining?????â€
Comment by Exley
Let’s face it, Zooey, I am good. I am VERY good!”
At lying, as everyone who’s read “the Exley Files” well knows. For the record, Exley claimed that “Saddam was a uniquely brutal dictator,in the last thirty years” – a time frame which encompassed both the despotic Shah of Iran, as well as PolPot, who would view Saddam as a piker (he killed three million). When his error was pointed out, he tried several different wordings in order to back away from his previous statement, which didn’t work. It’s why I constantly refer to him as “0-6,” because it’s how many times I’ve chumped him (6) compared to how many times he’s chumped me (0).
October 25th, 2006 at 12:44 amExley, I actually thought, for awhile, that you were a reasonable person. I have learned my lesson.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:44 amCyra,
I’m glad we finally connected! How are you? Who gives a flying flip about my muscle, which is fine, what about you? (By the way, I can take no responsibility for what I may have typed while heavily medicated.)
October 25th, 2006 at 12:46 am3204 – “Not sure what you see in Zooey that you would be so engrossed, Exley. We progs are because she is awesome but she would kick your ass every night. Are you masochistic?” – Comment by JPark
******Of course, it’s EASY to understand Zooeye’s attraction to Exley – opposites often attract. Exley makes sound arguments with a sense of confidence that often attracts those whose arguments are ridiculously personal.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:46 amBarfly, didn’t Hussein have the US stamp of approval for well over half of his killings? :)
October 25th, 2006 at 12:47 am#236, Actually, JPark, BnF has stated that he has yet to pass his bar exam. Given his previous misstatements of law, it is questionable that he will pass. But here’s wishing him the best.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:48 amExley is a Sexion Clade…
October 25th, 2006 at 12:48 amwasn’t it up to the Argentinian people to rid themselves of the “military dictatorship†you describe?
Comment by Exley — October 25, 2006 @ 12:27 am
Why do you enclose military dictatorship in quotes? Do you think Juan is making it up? Don’t you know Argentina was ruled by military dictators?
And to answer your question: Yes it was. The collapse of the military junta after the Falklands war debacle, led to a civilian uprising and the eventual rise of Alfonsin to power. No need for a foreign military intervention.
Again, employing your logic (not mine), aren’t you saying that the misery you describe having been perpetrated on Argentina was in fact the fault of the Argentinian people?
“The fault”? It’s not like Argentinians wanted to be tortured, raped, and killed Exley -don’t be ridiculous. I don’t know how you even make that deduction. By the way, the military junta perpretrated all these atrocities in the name of “national security” against communism.
Argentinians did their best to rid themselves of these military dictators who were backed up (politically as well as militarily and financially) by succesive American governments. They finally succeded in bringing democracy to their country in 1982.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:49 amMighty Hag,

October 25th, 2006 at 12:49 amMighty, golly you have such intuition.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:49 amJealous MA? making sense and confidence are not exactly your forte…or intelligence…or sanity. I am trying to put this delicately as you just may go off…you are not too bright and you should probably keep quiet about matters that concern adults, MA.

Exley lies, and Zooey tells the truth – but just because they’re opposites doesn’t mean she has to put up with his prepubescent overtures. If he said stuff like that in person, he’d be arrested for lewd and threatening behavior – as any lawyer would know.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:51 am#241…Hi Mighty! Yeah, Zooey and I have a real David and Maddie thing going….But rest assured, Mighty, if there wasn’t a Mr. Aphrodite, you and I would be quite the item! Mr. MA is a lucky man.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:51 amShut up Exley. MA has no clue what the law means. Attack her. BNF actually understands law.

October 25th, 2006 at 12:54 am#251, JPark, BnF has a novice’s understanding of the law. His consistent misstatements of law show he has no practical experience practicing law. His head is full of BAR/BRI Review materials and he thinks that makes him Clarence Darrow. It is actually quite amusing to watch.

Exley, I’ve already warned you, you keep making false assertions of what I have said, and I will sue you. It’s a tort. Right up there with libel. Damages are presumed. And every time you repeat the lie, you increase the damages. You better start thinking about protecting your a$$ets.
You think I’m kidding? Check out the California long-arm statute.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:56 amWhere are my posts?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:57 amExley, ok, now I KNOW you are retarded. Thanks for clarifying.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:59 amJPark; and selling weapons to the same terrorists who held Americans hostage showed them that America was both hypocritical and cowardly. They knew Reagan was afraid of the deal being discovered, and so would keep his mouth shut. They say how easily he could be rolled, and how two-faced he was – and they knew they had the perfect operating partner. Saddam had to know that we were supplying both sides – and yet he also was willing to take Americans’ money, weapons and technical expertise. Meanwhile, conscriptees on both sides bore the brunt.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:59 amJPark – Have you noticed that Zooooey couldn’t,or wouldn’t, make an argument if her life depended on it??
Exley – No, you two have a Carville and Matalin thing going – except you’re the handsome Conservative and she’s the “unfortunate” liberal….Mr. A advises you to watch out – when we met, we argued, made up, teased and got married. (I was the lib-wack – he was my sparrring partner…but the fireworks were FUN!) You never know where this is going to take you!! You might end up with a nice conservative wife and some cute kids….
October 25th, 2006 at 1:00 amSays Al Exley Gore, the Professor.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:01 amMA, you have never made an argument in your life. At least not on this website. I hope you do better in real life….otherwise you had better hope Dems take over because you are going to be declaring bankrupcy very soon.

October 25th, 2006 at 1:06 amThings progress, slowly though. The mind is saying, ‘Let’s go!’, but the body is stuck on ‘Oh HELL No!’ I have to keep telling myself, ‘Settle down, Beavis.’ But I am hoping to feel up to hitting a few costume contests Saturday night. I have been working on my costume, and I think it could be a winner! I have won 3 contests before, one by ‘proxy’, my ‘creation’ took first, and we split it, but the other two, I won. I LOVE Halloween! I’ve had to miss alot this summer, I really need this! And the money would really help as well. Other than that, just sweating this election. How is Zoo jr.?

Comment by JPark — October 24, 2006 @ 11:09 pm
Spouting insults instead of looking at what was actually said or perhaps even contemplating the facts, is that the best you’ve got?
First of all, you embarrass yourself and need no help from me. Secondly, how would you know of my “history” when I’ve never seen this blog before today.
To WC: You also might benefit from a little attention to detail. I did not say that Limbaugh was right, I merely suggested that many seem to ignore “ALL” the facts if they don’t coincide with their preconceived ideas. In this case, ignoring the man’s own words, from his own book could easily lead to wrong conclusions.
Correct conclusions require contemplation and balance of all the facts. Yes WC, the meds as well as his previous attempts at pursuasion.
Have a good night.
Oh, and try thinking before you write.

October 25th, 2006 at 1:21 am#289, JPark you had no clue what it meant to be screwed by Raygun. …So, because we didn’t have the same experiences in the past (you presume), THAT means you have no respect for me? That is nonsensical. Look, you don’t have to respect me (You’re not Zooey), nor do I expect you to…..But, that lack of respect should derive from your disagreement with my political views, not from the fact we may have come from different backgrounds or had different experiences.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:23 am#293, Thanks, JPark. I did not know BnF is a “she.” I always like to use the correct pronoun.

I’ve had intimate experience with Reagan republicans. The company that employed me about 25 years ago was sold to a bunch of “go-go” Reaganites, who leveraged the company in order to get a big loan. They got the loan, and the week after, the boss pulls up in a brand new racing Porsche, and his brother arrives in a new Jaguar. One month later, we were having payroll problems. After the checks were disbersed, it became a race to the bank – to get there, and get them cashed before the account ran out of funds. A year later they filed for bankruptcy, and we were told our deductions hadn’t been correctly withheld, meaning we were shafted for our SSI and other contributions.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:32 amZoo, no pacemaker yet, we’re trying the ‘Better Living With Chemicals’ route first, I insisted. They already stare at me at the Cardiologist, I am always the youngest one in the waiting area. ;P My costume? I am going as a ‘Deviled Egg” Imagine a giant hard boiled egg sliced in half, but with ‘devil’ horns, a tail and I am carrying a pitchfork. It covers most of my body, I cut openings for my face to stick out, arms too, finish with white tights, tennies, turtleneck and gloves ‘complete’ the look. It’s funny, really. I made the egg out of yards of quilt batting and the yolk from a big piece of bright yellow felt. Horns and tail are red, of course. Hope I win.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:34 amLOL Dog, I love that flowery dress!!

yeh the blue one had a stain in it from when he cooked for dubya not so long ago.. =)
October 25th, 2006 at 1:35 am#303, Dog, I have far too much respect for Zooey to have her make me dinner or put on a “flowery dress.” Zooey is a strong and independent (although politically misguided) woman. You should not derogate her. You owe her an apology.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:37 amBut, that lack of respect should derive from your disagreement with my political views, not from the fact we may have come from different backgrounds or had different experiences.
Comment by Exley
But the fact that you lie disqualifies you from the realm of honest discourse. It’s that simple. Your lies should be hung ’round your neck every time you presume to correct others. Until you learn to appologize, it’s all you deserve.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:37 amSounds like my last job, the CEO, a card carrying, GOP gavel weilding guy took a big loan, bought many uneeded things, didn’t pay the bills and had to shut down the business when they came for the company property. And when he was at work he spent all day on Ebay buying crap.

October 25th, 2006 at 1:41 amBarfly, Again I implore you to get over the fact that I corrected you when you mistakenly asserted that the reigns of Pol Pot and the Shah coincided and overlapped with Saddam Hussein’s regime. Look, if it makes you feel better, your error was not that egregious. You were only off by less than a year. It was a sloppy mistake on your part, but not so bad that you should become so obsessed with me…It’s not healthy. Okay, sport?
October 25th, 2006 at 1:42 am#313, Dog…“I was talking about you” …
I never said Zooey should cook dinner and put on a flowery dress. That was you.
Quite frankly, I am not comfortable with you discussing a poster who has left the thread. Move on.

October 25th, 2006 at 1:54 amThat Rush fellow is a lowest of the low level scum. I cringe evrytime I hear his voice on radio. Give him some Viagara and ask him to shut up.
What kind of idiots these Republicans who listens to his crap ?? Bush & his crowd did such a bad thing to Reagan’s memory by not supporting stem cell research.
These are the same idiots who wants to remove Theory of evolution from the text books. I can’t belive in the oldest democracy in the world, these kind of charcters get elected year after year !!
Amazing !!
October 25th, 2006 at 1:54 amBoo-Dog and Barfly, that is HORRIBLE!! I have been ’self-employed’ for the last 9 years. The last 3 or so have been a struggle though, and at times I have considered putting myself back into ‘indentured servitude’ , but have decided that I will have to be on the verge of disaster to do such a thing to myself. Nothing is certain anymore, and at least I wouldn’t be in the dark about what my ‘employers’ were up to, while I was oblivious to it. But it is kinda scary out here, thanks to GWB.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:56 amAnd with those historical dates ringing in a now-embarassed Dog’s head (much as Barfly was humiliated when he made the same mistakke), I bid you a good night.
(Dog, I can’t say I didn’t enjoy proving you wrong…..again)
October 25th, 2006 at 1:56 am#37 – “Many people believe that embryonic stem cells are “The most promisingâ€. and you say?†– Comment by Joefriday
********â€Many peopleâ€? Many people believe the way to heaven is to kill infidels and be rewarded with 70+ virgins in heaven. So what? Cord stem cell research has been extremely promising and I support it fully. You are right about Limbaugh’s hyperbole – but voters would appreciate a bit less distortion of the facts.
Comment by mighty+hypocrite
As usual, Mighty Hypocrite’s comparison doesn’t hold water. The “many people” supporting embryonic stem cell research include many doctors and others with advanced degrees in science. Please don’t try to impress us with your supposed knowledge about science, Mighty, when you’ve hardly impressed most of us with your legal knowledge–your supposed field of expertise.
October 25th, 2006 at 2:02 amI agree “voters would appreciate a bit less distortion of facts,” such as the recent Republican commercial in Tennessee implying that black Congressman Harold Ford hangs out with scantily clad blondes, or the GOP Swiftboating of men who actually fought in Vietnam and either lost limbs there like Max Clelland or were decorated for their service like John Kerry and John Murtha. Such a statement coming from someone like you who regularly trashes Murtha, etc. just because you don’t agree with their positions is the height of hypocrisy–the one field in which I will acknowledge your expertise.
One more thing…Juan C, I am disappointed you didn’t get a chance to respond to my questions contained in Posting # 219. I know that Gregor answered on your behalf, but I was looking forward to reading your take. Maybe next time. Night all…
October 25th, 2006 at 2:02 amIf I must, I must. But before I do, everyone take note of his comments now: Again I implore you to get over the fact that I corrected you when you mistakenly asserted that the reigns of Pol Pot and the Shah coincided and overlapped with Saddam Hussein’s regime.
I take you now in the TP wayback machine, to Sept. 22:
Barfly, Now I am on MY way to the bar. *Sigh* Fine…Saddam was not unique in among the dictators of all time.
But as John Burns explains in posting #125, he was a uniquely monstrous dictator in the modern world covering the last 30 years.
Happy?
Good night everybody!!!! Don’t forget to tip the waitresses. They’ve been good to you, so please be good to them!

So I now ask the assembled posters, do I now have the right to claim 0-7? It’s the same debunking, but since I am able to yet again pants him with his own strawman, I think it should count.
October 25th, 2006 at 2:05 am“The last thirty years” 1976- 2006 – which encompasses both PolPot, and the Shah of Iran, as I’ve previously stated.
0-7?

October 25th, 2006 at 2:17 amMichael J. Fox’ statement. I feel badly he suffers from such a terrible disease. I also feel badly he lies about the conservative position on stem cell research.

Ps. Mighty,
October 25th, 2006 at 2:19 am“To feel” is a sensory verb, which means it should be accompanied by an adjective (”bad”)–not an adverb (”badly”). To give examples of some other sensory verbs, one doesn’t say “it tastes badly” or “it smells badly.” Well, come to think of it, maybe a so-called lawyer who couldn’t even spell common legal terms like “breach” correctly does.
seems to me Barfly Saddams and Pol Pots rise parallel quite nicely from 1968 thru 1979

October 25th, 2006 at 2:37 amBreaking scandal in Nevada!
This is going to get big.
Staunch anti-immigration gubernatorial candidate in Nevada – Jim Gibbons (of alleged Vegas parking garage attack fame) not only had an illegal alien for a nanny… he would make her hide in the basement when people would visit.
You can watch the extensive (8 minutes!) report from the station who broke the story here.
The local station also has the Gibbons’ rebuttal and political analysis up on their site.
And here are documents supporting the woman’s claim.
ALSO – the woman who has accused Gibbons of attacking her in Las Vegas is holding her first press conference on the issue tomorrow.
When it rains it pours…

October 25th, 2006 at 3:25 amSorry my bad language, I have a story for American (Exley) who live in rich and never know about the world outside.
A guy met Lucifer in a bar.
L: Hey I can make all of your dreams come true.
I: No way, dude. I won’t trade my soul for anything.
L: Sh*t don’t watch TV so much, dude. I’ve never asked ppl for their souls. They always offer it for me.
I: So … you willing do it for me without asking for my soul?
L: Absolutely!
I: I don’t believe in you.
L: Swear to Gooooo, Damn it. You know I made a deal with your GOD. We both don’t influence in the human’s choice.
I can’t take your soul without your agreement.
I: Really.
L: Come on man. I supposed to have a meeting with Halliburton guys.
I: For what?
L: It’s not your business, Deal or No Deal?
I: Hmm, deal but with no my soul or anything.
L: Of course, deal. What do you want son?
I: Money, $100,000, no $1 mil, no $10 mil …
L: It is not wise to have too much money at once, why not $5000 a day?
I: Woh, such moral idea.
L: I said don’t watch too much Hollywood stuffs, son. They’re even more evil than me.
I: Ok let start with $5000 a day. Next I want a hot girl, no I don’t suppose to live with 1 girl for all of my
life, right?
L: Sure, one hot girl a day?
I: No no, it takes time to make a relationship. Better a month.
L: Done, one girl a month. What else?
I: What else, anything else.
L: Son, you can’t make love without good health.
I: Yeah, I need be very strong and never infected diseases.
L: Like HIV, Ok bye bye Medicare.
I: Make sure, I can make love anytime.
L: Believe in me, son. It is my best.
I: That’s it.
L: Ok, it will start from tomorrow. You have $5000 a day, a very very hot girl a month, very healthy and make love like a pig. Right?
I: And with no price no my soul.
L: Yeah, all for free.
—————————————————————————————-
And He enjoyed those stuffs for a year. One day, He found something go wrong.
It was reported hundreds mysterious thefts in his city.
It was always $5000 evaporated from bank accounts. And several unexplained deaths, those young ppl just collapsed and died.
And finally, he saw a missing person news. It is the hot girl who was living with him.
The news told her fiancé commit suicide by throw himself into a bus when he’s desperately searching her.
She knew nothing, she forgot everything. He knew it is Lucifer dirty job.
L: What the hell, son.
I: You cheated me. Everything you give me, You steal from others.
L: Woh, let’s see. I’m not like your GOD, the Creator. He’s only the one able to create everything.
But believe in me son. He must share his creation equally for everyone in the world.
He can’t give you better share. But I can son. How you always healthy and strong,
I took it from those ppl who die after then. How you have hot girls every month,
I took them from their husbands, their boyfriends. Here more $5000 from a retired old couple.
I: NO NO NO, Why you don’t take life and money from murders, criminals or the rich?
L: FYI, they all have the same deal with me, son. You see, I never ask your soul, you offered it for me when you want to live in luxury without asking where it come from.

Bernie ” rush ass kisser” Ward said ..”he didn’t know what to think of it”..following up w/ I had dinner with him and he was very nice”..hey aint that great, of the rush’s good friend, bernie “part time liberal”ward.
October 25th, 2006 at 3:57 amI don’t need connections to rush, he’s a scum bag!
The thing that got me with Reagan, apart from his support of Apartheid, is this:
Okay, under Jimmy Carter a whole bunch of Americans get kidnapped by Iranian students. The situation escalates and the Iranian Government gives their blessing to the students.
The Rightwing is up in arms and calls it a slap in America’s face. The Hostage crisis, more then anything else, brings down Jimmy Carter as president of the United States, and Ronald Reagan gets elected on a “Would third rate military dictators laugh at us and burn our flag if Ronald Reagan was president?” Ticket.
Fast forward a short while. It turns out that Ronald Reagan’s government, after all of that, was selling weapons to Iran. (Iran Contra scandal.)
That is what gets me about Ronald Reagan.
October 25th, 2006 at 6:56 amIs there anything these haters won’t say? Is nothing sacred?
They spit on Vietnam vets by questioning the basis of their heroism and comparing one of them (Max Cleland) to Osama–and dare to do this when so many of them never served.
They mock patients suffering from a terrible disease.
After a while, you run out of pejoratives to describe their loathesomeness. They care about nothing but power, and in their corrupt hearts they bear an uncanny resemblance to the aliens in Independence Day who despoil everything in their path before moving on. That’s what they’re doing to our democracy, our Constitution, our image in the world, our environment.
October 25th, 2006 at 7:00 amMorning, Zooey and Cyra, Glad you are doing better and back to posting Cyra. Since I have been through the heart attack and triple by pass was concerned for you…Felt better with the med’s before the surgery than I have any time since…Found out it should of been a quad instead of a triple after the insurance ran out…Guess some of the medical profesion think we are like car’s and they can just pop the hood and go back in when ever they choose.
The costume sound’s great, hope you win…
The limpbau statement’s are typical of a reich winged sociopath, he doe’s this kind of crap all the time..If he didn’t no one on the reich would listen to him either…Fox has contributed more to the betterment of society than limpbau could ever do…..
Noticed many post’s on regan, well, I didn’t like him then and don’t care about him now….Some very good post’s on his miss direction’s during his reign..My comment is the pissing down our back’s with his trickle down, telling us it is raining pretty much sum’s it up. I found it pretty disgusting during the funeral day’s when all the reich had so much coverage, pomp and ceramony they made him out better than a pope…Very little diffrence between regan and the present bush from what I can see except bush is doing more damage and his disease is self induced from booz and drugs and regan’s was from alsheimers (sp).
Less then 2 week’s now, here’s hoping some changes for the better happen soon….Blessings all
October 25th, 2006 at 8:17 amRonald Regan was Bush Mk I. If Regan was actually calling the shots during his eight years, I’m a pink baboon. If I was a conspiracy nut, I’d say that the man behind the throne was Bush Sr. I have no evidence other than it makes almost perfect sense. The difference is that Regan was at least a bad actor. Dubya is no kind of actor and has a learning disability and could probably qualify for special education. If the republicans are going to do this right, they need to find a passible actor to be their front man so that the world doesn’t suspect he’s a moronic puppet. They seem to have screwed the pooch with Dubya.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:20 am[...] about Viagra and Oxycontin, Rush, doesn’t mean you know squat about anything else. Permalink| [...]
October 25th, 2006 at 8:31 amThen Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: “Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician.”
How soon he has forgotten Teri Schiavo. How shameful, given that she was the GOP’s patron saint of their bogus “culture of life” campaign. Not that she ever actually chose to be the GOP’s poster child. Not that the GOP would ever stoop to exploiting someone’s illness simply to advance a Republican politician. Not that the GOP would ever consider using someone’s illness for a political point. Oh, wait….they did.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:38 amThat fat f*cker!!!
Rush, you asshole – you know SQUAT about PD. My wife was diagnosed with it at the age of 36. She is now 42 and trust me, she isn’t acting. I see her first thing in the morning without her meds. I see her and hear her wishing, wanting and praying that her meds would kick in so she can move a little faster, or even just clap her hands. I honor her requests when she asks me to run her hands of legs just to get some pain out or give her a few minutes where she can loosen her muscles.
Up yours, jackass. Go score some more drugs, you fat moron!
October 25th, 2006 at 8:40 amPersonally, I don’t believe that Rush Limbaugh will ever sincerely apologize for his incredibly ignorant, insensitive comments. Nor should Michael J. Fox accept any from that gasbag. I mean, if you’re going to reach the point in your diatribe where you’ll say, “If I’m wrong about all this, I’ll apologize.” and then keep on attacking! How about finding out if you ar, in fact, as you were here, wrong!
I loved what Michael said about it. “Ironic given some things that have been said in the last couple of days that my pills are working really well right now.” He has a lot of class.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:05 amTo WC: You also might benefit from a little attention to detail. I did not say that Limbaugh was right, I merely suggested that many seem to ignore “ALL†the facts if they don’t coincide with their preconceived ideas.

Comment by CraigWisc — October 25, 2006 @ 1:19 am
True, you didn’t specifically say that Rush was right, but you left open that possibility (he “may or may not” be technically correct).
As for your assertion that he had good reason to speculate, sorry, but I disagree. Rush said:
This is not speculation, it is an accusation.
Speculation would be “He may be exaggerating…” and “it may be an act.”
As for your suggestion that people like Rush “ignored” the facts if they don’t coincide with their preconceived ideas, Rush wasn’t concerned with the facts. We’ll know for sure if he offers any type of retraction or apology in the coming days for his remarks.
As for granstanding, hell, I would let people see me in the worst shape possible, too, if I wanted to bring attention to such a horrible disease. Especially in front of a Congress that includes a member who thinks the Internet is “a bunch of tubes” and at least one member who doesn’t know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites, and thus doesn’t really understand what is going on in Iraq with the sectarian violence, yet holds incredible power when it comes to prosecuting the “war.”
The main point isn’t the medication MJF is taking or its effect on him. The fact is, he has a terrible disease that’s not going to get any better anytime soon, and he and many other people in this world need all the help they can get to find a cure.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:54 amBarfly pants pathalogical lying Exley yet again. I have had the pleasure of witnessing all 7 pantsing. However, Exley’s commentary last night on Nicuragua and Argentina marks him as a scumbag.

October 25th, 2006 at 12:33 pmRe: #109 (just in case the original topic is still of interest, although the “Beat on Exley Show” is quite amusing)
Do a bit more reading/listening before being so certain. Since it seems a prerequisite I should note that I don’t listen to any AM radio, have never listened to Rush even when I had one (I don’t like being hacked off by sensationalists or confrontationalists, and he’s more blowhard and bombast than substance for my tastes). However, when this story hit I did track down the transcript for his show that day.
Now after the first break, apparently (just a guess that “BREAK TRANSCRIPT” meant “earn some revenues by airing ads”), he does in fact go into fairly comprehensive detail about what exactly the Missourian Amendment 2 says. What the actual legislation says, NOT what the politicians are characterizing it and peddling it as.
It didn’t take much additional effort to obtain the actual legislation and verify that he’s (and I hate to say this; anytime I say this about the blow-dried blowhard fools paid for their “valuable” opinions on our airwaves it lends them more cred than they deserve) correct. He accurately and fairly described Amendment 2. He makes a good point about the perceived unassailability of certain folk, and how pols shamelessly use that perception to advance their own causes – something both parties are guilty of doing for far longer than any of us should be comfortable with, to be certain.
But the “he can’t criticize him because…” argument is going nowhere, and just feeds into Rush’s actual point. Yah, he was way way off on his characterization of Fox and he spoke from a position of obvious (to anybody who did research into or has personal experience with Parkinson’s) ignorance. But given what Amendment 2 actually says and the claims made in the Missouri ad, in this case, Fox’s admirable courage and integrity in actively supporting stem-cell research does appear to have been used within something…less than honest.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled bashings, flame wars and amusing/heartening/saddening/eye-opening stories…
October 25th, 2006 at 2:23 pm[...] So, Michael J. Fox has a very moving commercial which Rush Limbaugh takes it upon himself to comment on. “He is exaggerating the effects of the disease,” Limbaugh told listeners yesterday. “He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act. … This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.” Many blogs have commented on Rush and his ignorant declaration. [...]
October 25th, 2006 at 3:13 pmRush simply said Fox probably did not take his medication in order to exaggerate his contortions to make a statement. Fox has said he does exactly that. Where’s the smear?

October 25th, 2006 at 4:25 pmYou’re all full of shit. If any of you actually listened to the show or read the transcripts, you would know that Rush never said Fox was faking it. He said he either had not taken his meds or was faking it. He was absolutely correct.
Has anyone mentioned that Stem Cell research is legal and is underway in Missouri and Maryland?! The Fox ad is full of lies. Talent is for Stem Cell research but is not fro Cloning which was what the ad was advocating.
Boneheads.
Has anyone criticized Fox for knowingly lying?!
October 25th, 2006 at 8:26 pmMy email to the fat-mouthed idiot:
You amaze me.
You take a shitty pot shot at a guy known the world over for having Parkinson’s – and all to suppport a god damned political agenda.
You need to apologize publicly – just as you launched your assault. YOU are now a liability to the Republican party. And we will dump you just as fast as we dumped Delay and Foley.
Bow out, fool.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:38 pmumm… in Michael J. Fox’s own book he admits to not taking his pill when appearing before congress in order to gain more support for his cause.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:44 pmIt seems that Rush has found another Oxycotin supplier.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:45 pmWhen Michael J. Fox (MJF) wants to control it, he does fairly well. Just see Boston Legal episodes that he has been in. It is possible that he recently took a turn for the worse. But, it seems that he has been able to control it to benefit him and his causes. He exploits it when is serves him. Rush is just calling it like he sees it. Rush is not politically correct, nor would I want him to be. If we didn’t have people like Rush out there much more of the BS would be consumed unchallenged. God Bless Him.
Side note: I wish the best for MJF and all those suffering from Parkinson’s.

October 25th, 2006 at 9:14 pmTo me, it sounds like mighty+aphrodite has been drinking the same hallucinogenic potion that the Bush Administration and FOX “News” is giving to the legions of mindless automatons who actually think these people are credible. The GOP has tried to ban all stem cell research. Let’s not forget the GOP backlash against Nancy Reagan when she spoke out in support of it. Bill Frist basically called her an idiot, and Limbaugh really went out of his way to discredit her.
You can sit here and try to be the GOP’s apologist, but people who actually follow the NEWS (instead of the distorted vision presented by Limbaugh, CBN/700 Club, and FOX News) realize that it’s all smoke and mirrors. And don’t even get me started on the hypocrisy laced in m+a’s posts. That warrants a thread all on its own.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:18 pmOctober 25th, 2006 at 10:20 pm
That is nonsensical. Look, you don’t have to respect me (You’re not Zooey), nor do I expect you to…..
Comment by Exley
Oh, no you didn’t. You sorry-assed swine…
October 25th, 2006 at 10:40 pmAll of the political argument over stem cell research has been made by people who have no idea what they are talking about.
These cells have potential in theraputic roles, but we will never know if all funding is shut down. For those who don’t know, most the the biomedical research in thw US is Federaly funded by the gov and not “big pharm.”
… Also, adding ROTFL to any statment seems to discredit and 3rd grade-ify everything you say…
October 25th, 2006 at 10:56 pmThe inmates have truly taken over. Limbaugh has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the inmate, in-charge. It amazes me that this self serving political thug is still on the air. The fools who take him seriously deserve him. I guess he beleives that successful stem cell research will not help stupidity, meanness, ignorance, and pigishness.
October 25th, 2006 at 11:00 pmSo Exley, Polpot was in power at the same time as Saddam, in 1979, which also blows away your other contention.
Comment by barfly — September 26, 2006 @ 9:47 pm
Poor guy, can’t even comprehend that both were in power in ‘79.
I feel sorry for Exley’s parents; all that time and money wasted.

Are you that dense? Rush accused MJF of acting.
If any of you actually listened to the show or read the transcripts, you would know that Rush never said Fox was faking it. He said he either had not taken his meds or was faking it. He was absolutely correct.
Comment by Rico — October 25, 2006 @ 8:26 pm
You DO realize that you very effectively contradicted yourself, don’t you?
He exploits it when is serves him.
Comment by truelyconcerned — October 25, 2006 @ 8:54 pm
Why wouldn’t he? As I said before, do you really think members of Congress would pay any attention to him if he were sitting there all cool and composed and not a twitch in sight? Hell, most of them would be saying, “What’s up with MJF? There’s nothing wrong with him. I think he’s faking it.”
Finally, I do hope you all saw the video of Rush shaking and flopping around in his chair as he mocked MJF’s condition. I’m sure you applaud him for that, too.
Oh, and Rush refused to take any of it back. He said that he knows for sure MJF was acting. Let’s see the proof, fat ass.
October 25th, 2006 at 11:03 pmMaybe we should flood Limbaugh’s mailbox with links to Parkinsons sites & inundate his show with calls from people who either have or know people who have Parkinsons.
Let’s defeat this ignorant drug addict at his own dangerous game.

October 26th, 2006 at 1:00 pmSince the early 1990’s this fat, ugly, overbearing thing started running his mouth. I am shocked he has lasted as long as he has. You know when you have a big ugly fat face, attached to a rotund body and a little dick (lost in all that fat), you have to have a bitter attitude. I am so happy he attached himself to the Party of Bush, because it’s fitting. If you put weight on Bush you couldn’t tell them apart.
I actually think this was a stunt to get his name in the news. Hope this spells the end to his so called career or what ever it was!

October 27th, 2006 at 12:22 pmLet’s face it, Rush is a potent republican hatchet man. He has successfully drawn attention from the real issue — that republicans are against stem cell research — and has diverted it to this inane quarrel with MJ Fox. It’s his modus operandi: to skirt the issue with a barrage of ad hominem attacks. All sound and fury but signifying nothing. He truly is a master of diversionary tactics, you have to admit. All of a sudden, the whole world is arguing about who the bigger shithead is, Rush or Michael. Hey, damn the larger issue; let’s listen to Rush rant about Michael instead. That’s far more interesting than dealing with facts. It’s mental crack for morons. Ditto rush, ditto, I’m such an idiot I’d rather have you think for me!
October 27th, 2006 at 2:53 pmHad to correct one thing in my previous post — I meant to say that the RNC is against furthering embryonic stem cell research. Save your rants about that.
And again, you have to admit Rush is a genius. If he had to, he’d smear Mother Theresa to make a point. He is the perfect weapon; not regrets, no hesitation, just make some shit up and fire away.
I don’t like him, but he’s damn good at killing democrates. When the democrats finally manage to bag him, I’d like to see Rush stuffed and put on display at the Smithsonian for posterity.
October 27th, 2006 at 3:13 pm[...] Recently, a bastard repeatedly made offensive remarks against Michael J. Fox’s television campaign ads promoting stem cell research[1]. His irresponsible and idiocy did made into headlines almost everywhere in US press[2]. “He is exaggerating the effects of the disease,” Limbaugh told listeners. “He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act…. This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.” [...]
October 28th, 2006 at 2:26 pmWe all know Rush takes his medicine regularly as reported by various law inforcement agencies as being illegal. Mr. Fox has the courage and compassion to share his experience publicly in an effort to help all people.
It is beyond the sense of reason to take this bigot seriously, even though WE THE PEOPLE respectfully allow his right to FREE SPEECH

October 30th, 2006 at 11:45 pm“Do not answer a fool when he speaks nonsense, lest you, too, are reduced to his level.” Prov. 26:4
Good advise from Proverbs, folks. Media bullies are skilled in debate, using circular thinking and other forensic tricks to snare their opponents.
The bottom line in media are the two R’s. RATINGS & REVENUE. Fights draw a crowd. Media bullies are skilled at drawing crowds by stirring up animosity. “Turning up the heat” pulls in viewers or listeners and thus pushes up the two R’s. This activates the third R- RESULTS: more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for them and their network.
The best way to fight back is change channels or stations. Silence is death in the media business.
I have had Parkinson’s for about 10 years, and I can tell you Limbaugh is wrong, wrong, wrong! in his ‘diagnosis’ of Michael J. Fox. Is it possible for somebody to really be that stupid, or he just cynical and ruled by the two R’s???????????????????
