As a person in the medical industry who has worked daily to authorize home care to people affected by parkinsons and other significant disabilities, , I was shocked and disgusted when I heard one night on the news how ignorant Rush’s comments were about Michael. I have a father with Parkinsons, and a sister who was diagnosed with M.S. 2 years ago, What really brought it home to me, though is 3 weeks ago, while having a routine EMG for stiffness in my writing hand, that I thought was Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, the neurologist giving it ruled out the Carpel Tunnel, sent me in for an MRI, and then notified me that I am in the early stages of Parkinsons(I am 42). As a person who sees daily the struggles of people dealing with many disabling conditions, I find myself wondering if some day when Rush finds himself dependent upon others for his care, will they be as insenstive and uncompassionate to him as he is to others? It’s amazing such incredibly stupid words would come out of the mouth of a man in his position.

Seems odd to me that Fox can somehow stop shaking when he is giving a performance or a speech but he couldn’t do it for a commercial about cloning, oh, I’m sorry, embryonic stem cell research (bull). Fox is a good actor who was reading off a script he never even read the amendment. But, oh well, just as long as some actor who has a disease tells you lemings to jump you will only ask “how high?”

First of all let’s set the record straight. I am a former Republican turned Libertarian. Limbaugh is a disciple of the recycled Trotskyites and assorted Leftist wackos that now control the GOP and are known as “Neo-Cons.” True conservatives don’t support either the current phony GOP or panting lap-dogs like Limbaugh. In characteristic Neo-Conish ignorance Limbaugh has no clue that Michael J. Fox has said, on numerous times, that he supports what candidates stand for rather than play two-party partisanship. He said it again last night when he stated that he would support a Republican who was supportive of Stem Cell research. Michael J. Fox has also had a very honorable career and is the real thing; you get what you see. Not only does he NOT have to “act up” his illness but his track record implies he would not engage in such deception. Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and all the other phony “conservatives” have given true conservatism a bad name. Just be aware that the real conservatives are not in power any more and shouldn’t be lumped in with the current pretenders.

I am a conservative but I cant stand Limbaugh. I had a little more respect for the guy until is drug problem came out. He is a hypocrite. Spouting off about all the wrongs people are doing when he is doing them himself. I hate that crap. Pouncing on a person who has parkinsons or any other disease is f’d up. Rimjob went way to far. Even IF he was exaggerating the effects, who gives a crap, the guys HAS parkinsons. Thats like degrading someone who says they are legally blind, but can only see shades of color, isn’t blind and that they are exaggerating.

Michael J. Fox wasn’t acting during this filming, but he is, nevertheless, one hell of an actor. For years, even after I empathized with him for having to deal with Parkinson’s at such an early age, I couldn’t really bring myself to like him, because I identified him with Alex, the black sheep Repulican jerk of an all-American liberal family. It never even occurred to me that he might be a decent, patriotic Democrat like me. That’s how convincingly he played the part. I should have known better. Look at Archie Bunker! Nobody can satirize an ignorant conservative better than a flaming liberal!

Thought MJ Fox had more class than to support a lie.Guess the best way to get out of it is to smear someone else (a la clinton).Missouri already has stem cell research on going and this bill is a bill that would make cloning a part of the Missouri constitution.
It is too bad that all these morons down on Rush dont take time to really read the proposition and see what it really is .
When m j fox entered the polotical game he became fair game and I found it truly disgusting that he admittedly was off his meds when he did these interviews.
I dont have Parkinsons but my grandfather has it so bad thet meds dont help very much any more and he has to be cared for 24 hrs a day by my grandmother and I never hear themcomplaining or whining about stem cell research.They are both advocates of adult stem cell research and the possibilities they may provide a cure in the future.

Any statement that embryonic stem cell research isn’t making progress is simply a lie.

Any statement that ESC may not lead to any cures is simply a lie.

Any statement that adult stem cell therapy holds more promise or will lead to more cures is simply a lie.

And lastly, any statement that democrats have embraced name calling and defamation more than republicans is simply a lie. Not only is this entire thread about defamation by a conservative right wing liar who makes that his daily business, the record of republican groups slandering opposition politicians, celebrities who speak out, and veterans of our armed forces is overwhelming.

Embryonic stem-cell research may never lead to any cures, and to have a man exagerate his symptoms in front of a camera just to cause people to feel sorry for him and vote for Democrats is disgusting. If Embryonic stem cell research is the cure-all, then why isn’t there private money pouring into it? It is NOT illegal, anyone can do it, if you have the money. Actually, for all those people that like “knee jerk” responses…let me ask this. If someone at your work told you they were ill and you helped them out then later found out that they weren’t as bad as they lead you to believe, would you be angry? According to Michael J. Fox, he over medicated himself and that’s why he was shaking so badly on the commercial…..hmmmmm. He’s not as bad as he lead you to believe……..but you’re OK with THAT….as long as he’s liberal?

hey 298. this may require some thinking on your part. not a simple statement, so keep up. rushes point was that fox had in some way manipulated his physical state by manipulating his medication so as to gain sympathy. which he later said he understood and saw no problem with if for a psa for example. for some non-political reason. he obvoiusly knows how to regulate his meds to appear on camera as he does on a regular basis, as “normal” as he can. as anyone who suffers with parkinsons does. it is part of ‘defeating’ the disease. if only for a brief time. so when he makes the commerical he “forgets” how to regualte his meds? like “okay, we’re filming this commercial at 11am micheal, ok?”, and mike wakes up and slaps his forhead and says oh gosh, i need to take my meds before filinmg that comercial. and its all screwed up, the timing. and when he arrives, they say, oh well, we’ll juts shoot it anyway. ok, noone in their right mind believes that. you KNOW that too. you can pretend you dont, thats fine. but any thinking person knows what happening here. soooo. rushes underlying point: fox manipulating medication to gain sypomathy is basically accurate. we know that. some folks find that ok. some then go further. they say, IF its for an apolitical reason, like a psa, sure, BUT, if its for a pilitical reason, and fox says vote for this guy cause he really wants to help me, and by implication, the other guy doesnt, well, then you have manipulation of voters, at an emotional elevel, which i know is the level liberlas operate oin, but thinking folks aim a little higher you see. so then in that latter case, he (fox) is maiking himself availbale for scrutiny, and debate about all facets of what he is saying and doing. i.e.: are his “facts” accurate? in all commercials he has made he has made very easily fact-checked misrepresentations. is he using his disease to elliicit sympathy to shutdown debate of his issue or the ‘other sides’ ability to respond? of course. look, i have a 4y/o with cp, and my wife has ms, so i am not taking sides here on the stem cemm research deal. just analyzing how this fox/limbaugh thing has played out. theres more, but i have to go. start using your head. stop being led around by the msm. good lord, you cant be a simple-minded as your post. ok? i am on your side here, but trying to prove that last statement true is getting hard with what you write. namaste.

Just to get a few things straight –

Any statement that Fox stopped taking his drugs for the commercial is simply a lie.

Any statement that Fox increased his dosage to produce exaggerated symtoms for the commercial is simply a lie.

Any statement that Rush actually apologized for his despicable, cowardly comments is simply a lie.

Any statement that ESC research kills any sort of children or babies is simply a lie.

And any statement that mothers wil suffer due to ESC treatments because of egg donation is simply a lie.

That’s pretty much where we’re at. Right wing nutbars can’t come down on in-vitro fertilization, which produces – and normally kills – the embryos we’re talking about, because women voters won’t stand for it for one minute. So they put it all under the abortion debate, as if those IVF embryos had a future.

It’s all a big far right wing lie, and the right wing rank and file fall for it every time, even while they die by the millions when their own genes could save them. Reasonable people don’t even need to take notice of such willful ignorance, except to make damn sure these nutbars don’t make it into office where they can dictate terms of life and death to you and your family – and to boycott media outlets that spew Rush’s kind of hate and those who advertise on them, and _tell_them_so_ – until it’s no longer profitable to choose lies.
