Scoreboard:
1. Rep - freed the slaves

True, in the 1800's. Unfortunately that particular Rep is dead now.

2. Rep - fought against Dems to keep America a single soverign nation

Yep.

3. Rep - got America out of Viet Nam

Actually, new documents have come to light that show Nixon purposely scuttled peace talks with Vietnam during LBJ's term as president, to make sure he was the one that ended it. So you should be saying "Reps kept the war in Vietnam going longer then it had to so they could score political points once LBJ left office."

4. Rep - took the fight to the enemy on THEIR soil not ours

After ignoring various warnings about the threat posed by Osama Bin Laden for eight months and doing nothing to prevent 9/11. Oh yeah, and Iraq was not in league with the terrorists, Osama and Saddam placed prices on each other's heads.

5. Rep - made the economy the best its been in a long time

The Dow isn't as good as Clinton's was seven years ago if you adjust for inflation, the average American wage hasn't gone up in six years, those 6 million jobs Bush was boasting about are mostly part-time service work, America's debt has doubled under Bush, oh yeah and all five of America's worst deficits belong to the Republicans. Indeed in order to get it so that these aren't the worst deficits you have to adjust for inflation - which means they are only the worst five after WWII.

6. Rep - brought a voice to people not living on the coasts

I would say something about how it is better to be silent and have everyone think you are a fool then to speak and confirm their suspicions, but I will let that slide for now. Lets just say I have never yet heard of a state in America where the people were not allowed to vote simply because they don't have a view of the sea.

1. Dem - got America into Viet Nam

Yes, and the Dems have learnt better since.

2. Dem - kept America IN Viet Nam

See above.

3. Dem - blocked school buildings from African Americans

Dixiecrats who moved right over onto the Republicans after a DEM president, the same guy you are so hard on for Vietnam, told the FBI to disrupt their meetings and destroy the KKK.

4. Dem - hanged African Americans from trees in the south

Yeah, the the Republicans are still doing it.

5. Dem - did nothing to catch the perps of the USS Cole bombing, the embasy bombings, the FIRST world trade center bombing.

Now you are just lying. You see, if you had any idea of history, and you were not a total imbecile, you would note that under Clinton, the perpetrators of the FIRST world trade center bombing; were all caught. So was the guy who planned the embassy bombings. Next time, get your fact straight.

6. Dem - let Osama bin Laden slip away

No, that would be GW Bush. You see, while Bill Clinton never really had a clean shot at Bin Laden, the nearest he had he took, but Osama got out before the missile hit. GW did have a clean shot, in Afghanistan and then decided to take the pressure off and invade Iraq for some unknowable reason, allowing Osama to escape to Tora Bora. Not only that, but after 9/11, GW shut down the CIA branch that was dedicated to hunting down Osama Bin Laden, the branch has only recently been re-opened. Again, get your facts straight.

7. Dem - deteriorated the military and cut back on promises to take care of vets while driving good men and women out of the military

Seriously if you are going to lie, at least try to make it sound plausible. Under Clinton the Military got 15% more funding then before, and veterans rights were perfectly protected. Under Bush funding for various veteran's benefits was dramatically cut. Indeed, under Bush do you know what wounded soldiers have to pay for? Any equipment that was damaged when those soldiers got wounded. Talk about supporting your troops!

8. Dem - sold tech secrets to the Chineese.

Reps got America into so much debt with the Chinese that America can be driven bankrupt simply by the Chinese all on their own.

9. Ad Nauseum

Which is to say you only have a stack of lies and memes based on BS and ancient history. Nice one troll.

Now for the things you left out, just off of the top of my head you understand:

10: Dems brought about legislation that made the internet possible.

11: Dems won WWI AND WWII.

12: Dems got America out of the Great Depression.

13: Dems (LBJ specifically) pushed for and got America its current civil rights legislation.

14: Dems got America its sweatheart deal with OPEC, whereby you pay less for petrol then any other country on earth.

15: Dems, when 3 Mile Island was melting down, handled the disaster and saved countless lives.

16: Dems achieved America's top surplusses ever.

17: Dems achieved a booming stockmarket, which when you adjust for inflation has not yet been beat.

18: Dems created FEMA - and actually ran it effeciently.

19: Dems stopped every single Islamic terrorist strike within America from the first WTC bombing right up until a Republican President came into power.

Now for the Republicans (In no particular order):

8: Reps have the only president ever forced to resign his office - Richard Nixon.

9: Reps have the worst deficits in America's history apart from WWII, and still have the third worst year.

10: Reps embraced the Dixiecrats as they were kicked out of the Dems.

11: Reps cost America all of the goodwill generated by 9/11.

12: Reps cut funding for maintaining New Orleans' levee system, in favour of bridges to nowhere in Alaska, after a plan was introduced by the Governor of Louisana to modernise the levee system. This was after 2004 was a record year for Hurricanes in the gulf.

13: Reps got America into its first war of choice - Iraq.

14: Reps legalised torture, as well as holding people without trial, appeal, or the rights contained within the Geneva convention.

15: Reps have failed to capture any of the terrorists behind 9/11 even AFTER they have suspended various rights in the US Constitution to do it.

16: Rep: The single president who has had the most time off since the Whitehouse started recording how much time presidents take off.

17: Rep: The congress which has worked the least days in a year since how many days the Congress worked on has been recorded (218 days, beating the previous record set by the do nothing Congress of 1948.)

18: Rep: The president in power during the start of America's worst economic callamnity in history- the Great Depression.

16: Dems achieved America’s top surplusses ever.

17: Dems achieved a booming stockmarket, which when you adjust for inflation has not yet been beat.

18: Dems created FEMA – and actually ran it effeciently.

19: Dems stopped every single Islamic terrorist strike within America from the first WTC bombing right up until a Republican President came into power.

Now for the Republicans (In no particular order):

8: Reps have the only president ever forced to resign his office – Richard Nixon.

9: Reps have the worst deficits in America’s history apart from WWII, and still have the third worst year.

10: Reps embraced the Dixiecrats as they were kicked out of the Dems.

11: Reps cost America all of the goodwill generated by 9/11.

12: Reps cut funding for maintaining New Orleans’ levee system, in favour of bridges to nowhere in Alaska, after a plan was introduced by the Governor of Louisana to modernise the levee system. This was after 2004 was a record year for Hurricanes in the gulf.

13: Reps got America into its first war of choice – Iraq.

18: Rep: The president in power during the start of America’s worst economic callamnity in history- the Great Depression.

279 "Republicans willing to meet half way, not Democrats." Wilson, you must be from outer space. Where has there EVER been a political operative so thoroughly divisive, unscrupulous, and for winning at all costs than Karl Rove? He, or his disciples, basically run all of the major republican campaigns using tactics developed by him and Atwater years before, including the current outright lies being promoted on this model. For example, Richard Pombo blairs out, in major ad campaigns, that his opponent McNerney FAVORS ALLOWING NORTH KOREA TO HAVE NUKES! This is not only a flat lie, but easily seen to be unlikely, in that NO candidate running for congress supports NK having nukes. Now different approaches to the problem have been proposed by the different candidates, but who will be moved to vote for Pombo on putting out such an obviously untrue statement? And on it goes. Who among the present Administration, who among republicans in Congress, are willing to engage in a full give-and-take dialog about issues facing us? The wars, the economy, the environment, medical costs, etc.? I have yet to see dems given real give-and-take on O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh and the others, yet Schulz, Ward, Lionel and other libs regularly give lengthy air time to those in oppositon to their views. I am completely in favor of open dialog on these heavy matters, with all viewpoints participating.

I noticed that most Repug ads contain: misinformation; out of context quotes; misrepensentations; issues from 30 yrs hence; and basically out right lies. Dem ads about Foley; Abramson; Plamegate; Iraq etal are about things that HAVE happened or are taking place. The Harold Ford spot and the Michael J. Fox spots are prime examples of how this group operates. No shame or honor, just win at all costs. The stakes are getting so high that maybe the Dems need to Swift-Boat a few of their opponents to catch up. Also Al Franken is a brilliant comedian and Dennis Miller was once until he went to the dark side.

Comment by Liberalism = Mental Disease — October 27, 2006 @ 11:43 am:

"Scoreboard:
1. Rep - freed the slaves
2. Rep - fought against Dems to keep America a single soverign nation"

"Sovereign." And you're reaching back to the 1800's for support? Okay. I hate the Whigs too!

"3. Rep - got America out of Viet Nam"

Cut and run, I believe is the phrase. Just like Korea, and Lebanon. Yup, Republican presidents have cut and run from all the most recent wars. Democrats won WWI and WWII. Huh.

"4. Rep - took the fight to the enemy on THEIR soil not ours"

And got thousands more Americans killed over there too and stirred up even more terrorists. And, um, you do know that Iraq had nothing to do with Al Queda, right? Right? And, is that "enemy" in Afghanistan the one that your leader Bill Frist wants to join the Afghan government"? Now that's taking the fight to the enemy!

"5. Rep - made the economy the best its been in a long time."

Riiight, you mean the best its been - since Clinton? My God, the Nasdaq, Russell, and S&P have still not regained their heights under Clinton and the Dow only just passed it - six years later! What, are you twelve? Don't you remember how good it was under Clinton? If you are harping on the economy, you are in deep trouble. Housing prices made their biggest drop in 35 years last month. 35 years. Take that to the bank - if you have any equity left in your house.

"6. Rep - brought a voice to people not living on the coasts."

Uh, who, the Southerners - on the Gulf Coast?

"1. Dem - got America into Viet Nam"

True, almost as big of a FUBAR as Bush in Iraq.

"2. Dem - kept America IN Viet Nam"

Ditto.

"3. Dem - blocked school buildings from African Americans."

Dixiecrats - who made mass exodus to the Republican party when the principled Democrats showed them the door. Gee, what party took them with open arms? Need a hint? It's called the southern strategy. And those same pukes now vote 98% Republican. Wonder why? It took a lot of courage for Democrats to disown their own to do the right thing. When was the last time any Republican did that?

"4. Dem - hanged African Americans from trees in the south"

Republicans - still doing it today. Read about capital punishment in the south. For some reason White, Republican juries almost always only condemn black defendants. Huh.

"5. Dem - did nothing to catch the perps of the USS Cole bombing, the embasy bombings, the FIRST world trade center bombing."

You realize that BUSH did nothing after the USS Cole! The CIA determined that al Queda was responsible when he took office. he did what? NOTHING. As for the first WTC - convictions. How about the 9/11 planners? Not so much. nada. zilch.

"6. Dem - let Osama bin Laden slip away."

You realize that Bush is not a Dem, right? My God, Bush has let Osama run free for six years!! He has openly said that he does't worry much about him? Have you been in a coma the last six years?

"7. Dem - deteriorated the military and cut back on promises to take care of vets while driving good men and women out of the military"

Again, have you been in a coma? Bush and Rumsfeld have hollowed out the military and screwed vets six ways from Sunday. Wake up. The military has not been this devastated since Vietnam. Navy seaman are being sent to do IED duty in Iraq, for God's sake.

8. Dem - sold tech secrets to the Chineese.

Huh? Uh, Reagan sold arms for hostages, Bush let A.Q. Khan sell nuclear technology to Iran, Libya, North Korea. And did NOTHING about it but suck up to Musharref.

Meanwhile, Bush has borrowed $1 trillion from the Chinese and allowed the loss of our manufacturing core to the Chinese. Thanks Bush! Thanks for making us debtors for the next 30 years of the Red Chinese!

"9. Ad Nauseum"

Yes, I'm nauseated. How can you be so ill-informed? Head injury? Oxygen deprivation?

"I’m sick, OMG we’re doomed to repeat history. Dems are trying to completely remove everything that once made America a great place; God, morals, hard work, and family."

I know, if only the brave Republican moral standard bearers like Mark Foley, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, Tom Delay, Bob Ney, Newt Gingrich, Jack Ryan, Bill Bennett, Ralph Reed and the rest of that criminal bunch of perverts could lead America again! More greed, corruption and perversion in Washington; hooray for the GOP!

In all seriousness, you are a sad and deluded soul. I will pray for you.

I wonder why this is surprising-we have seen time and again the depths they [the right wing] will sink to, because they know they cannot win on an issue and values based election. It is unbeleivably pathetic, and the only strange thing is that the dems cannot figure out how to steal and abuse power like right wing, or maybe they just realize it is wrong.
