Former top White House contracting official David Safavian “wept as he asked for leniency in his obstruction of justice case Friday, telling a judge that his lobbyist friend Jack Abramoff manipulated him.” Safavian was sentenced to 18 months in prison for lying to federal investigators about his ties to Abramoff.
Here is another Republican who should go down.
Rick Santorum Attacks Bob Casey over Dog Sex
Good God.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:17 pmBoo-friggin-hoo.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:17 pm“manipulated”, hehehehehe
October 27th, 2006 at 5:17 pmAnd this with almost no congressional oversight for help. Can you imagine what will happen if Dems have the subpoena power to force administration officials to tell the public the truth about a large array of issues?
October 27th, 2006 at 5:22 pmhis lobbyist friend Jack Abramoff manipulated him
Well, if that’s the case, then I’ll just sentence you to eighteen months and Abramoff gets the rest.
If he didn’t want to go to jail, he shouldn’t have broken the law. Now he can be useful to society for a change by showing people what happens to you when you try to lie to impede an investigation. You paying attention out there, Scooter Libby?
October 27th, 2006 at 5:23 pmI seem to recall that the administration threatened its own accountant with firing if he told congress the true cost of the medicare bill. Gee, I’d like some Bush administration officials to have to testify under oath about that because it’s technically a constitutional crime. We are a nation of laws after all.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:24 pmit’s technically a constitutional crime
Yes, just like diverting $700,000,000 that Congress authorized to be spent fighting terrorists in Afghanistan to begin planning military operations in Iraq during 2002.
This is why we can’t allow Republicans to remain in charge of conducting oversight on the Bush Administration, because they don’t do nearly enough. (And yes, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here; I’m assuming they investigated at least one or two things they’ve done.)
October 27th, 2006 at 5:32 pmonly 18 months???
October 27th, 2006 at 5:42 pmWayne, the list of constitutional crimes has at least doubled since John Dean wrote his book “Worse than Watergate.” There are big ones and little ones. They’ve broken so many constitutional rules that it has become kind of a signature for their administration. Constitutional historians are swooning.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:42 pmBluedog49,
Believe me, I know the list is long. I just thought I’d recommend an easy one for them, and one that shows their crimes go back almost to the beginning. Plus, it’s clearly illegal what they did.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:44 pmMore Bush corruption:
Bush family makes money off of presidency
October 27th, 2006 at 5:50 pmBush family profits from NCLB
I have a question for all the poster’s….Please name anything good that this administration has done in 6 year’s.?…I can’t think of one….Blessings
October 27th, 2006 at 5:52 pmRick Santorum Attacks Bob Casey over Dog Sex
October 27th, 2006 at 5:53 pmGood God. – - Good God is right. I believe if the founding fathers of this country could see what passes for political discourse and campaigns in the year 2006, they would have told King George, “Fuggedaboutit.”
I have a question for all the poster’s….Please name anything good that this administration has done in 6 year’s.?… – - They’ve energized me about political science like never before. On the downside, I’ve found I can’t stand having anything to do with or be around most Republicans.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:56 pmThere’s going to be a lot of Republicans crying in the next few weeks, months and years. Pity.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:56 pmI have a question for all the poster’s….Please name anything good that this administration has done in 6 year’s.?…I can’t think of one….Blessings

October 27th, 2006 at 5:59 pmCRIED LIKE A LITTLE BITCH
>
Now he is going to be someone elses bitch. Don’t worry, it only hurts the first 100 times
October 27th, 2006 at 6:07 pmO.K. Wisedup how about this one. Is it hotter in the summer than in the city.?..LOL…Blessings
October 27th, 2006 at 6:08 pm#12 Sharon
October 27th, 2006 at 6:08 pmI pulled out an old button and put it on my coat - Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Vote Democratic
It’s not exactly accurate (it should read “6 years ago”) but it serves the purpose.
In answer to your question, I can think of nothing that is better today than it was before Bush came to office. I know their usual excuse, “9/11 changed everything” but that is lame. Bush took the cowboy, arrogant way and lied us into Iraq, despite world support for us at that time.
Domestically and internationally, Bush has made a disaster of everything. He did much the same in his private life, prior to 2000.
What Bush has done is awakened many of us to do more than talk about government, but to take action wherever we can.
OT, sorry.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:12 pmLou Dobbs just had a news segment on “secret” negotiations by the White House, Vincente Fox and Canada – this includes the “super highway” being built from southern Texas to the Canadian border – and the groundwork being laid right now for a unified North America. Congress is not in on this – this is strictly between Bush&Co and the two other countries.
A republican, manipulating people?
LOL, come on now, no ones gonna believe that shit.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:15 pmYep, another Goddamned Open Letter to Ned Lamont. I really hope he reads this. It may turn his race around.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:17 pmYep!, you beat me to the punch Marie, I was listening to it also..Scary stuff, heard bush and crew discussing it a few week’s ago….Now does this mean we are going to be under the bull shit bush dictatorship or is one of the other guy’s going to do it..
Next will be be able to get cheap medecine and healthcare in those two countries and own property and not need pasports or visas?….All this and not even a wimper. How can they do this.? Why haven’t they all been arrested.?..Blessings
October 27th, 2006 at 6:20 pmHave we broken the Nixon record yet for “former administration toadies now inthe lockup”?
October 27th, 2006 at 6:22 pmI noticed the absence of the trolls comming to the defence of one of their fellow neocon.
I will help them out.
This is a Democrat conspiricy, by the liberal media to smear a god fearing republican with an activist judge coming down on this poor persecuted christian for a political act. And it’s all Clinton’s fault.
There now it looks like a normal thread =)
October 27th, 2006 at 6:22 pmGonzales has arranged it along with the SCOTUS appointees that Bush&Co will escape all prosecution for the selling of America and the destruction of the Constitution.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:26 pmWhy the Congress isn’t hauling them off to court right now is beyond me. I first heard about this highway (which has already been begun, and land acquired along the way) months ago.
The secret arrrangements to combine three countries is new to me.
David obviously had some bad legal advice…you should never cry right before you get sent down to The Big Rodeo. That’s a sure way to shoot straight to the top of the Bitch List when the hard timers look over the Fresh Meat.
Of course a better idea would have been not to break the law in the first place.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:30 pmMarie, I saw a short clip on this a few week’s ago on Dobb’s. Just that they were making plan’s to do this. The behind closed doors was a new issue today…It remind’s me of the Dubi port’s deal which went through and is now owned by them, no more on that either….Everything has gone to shit under these guy’s, we need to get them out. All of them and quick..Blessings
October 27th, 2006 at 6:37 pmHow can Pelosi and the rest NOT impeach these crooks if they get elected? I’m not talking about vengence here; I’m not even talking about justice. I’m talking about leadership – modeling what leaders are elected to do, like upholding their OATH to protect the constitution, for one!!!!!!
October 27th, 2006 at 6:47 pmMarie,
I have tons of buttons.
*collective groan from those who have suffered my posts on buttons*
“I Never Thought I’d Miss Nixon”
“Oh My God, You’re Stark Raving Republican”
pic of Bush 41 with circle and slash thru’ ala “Ghostbusters”
Ditto Bush 43
(Old one) Pic of Dan Quayle: Colored Any Good Books Lately? (could apply to George as well)
Sure I trust My Government. Just ask a Whale or an Indian
….and those are the ones off the top of my head.
…yeah, I need to get a life, I know…!
October 27th, 2006 at 6:47 pm;)
I have and old button that say’s..newt’s happen when 63% don’t vote….Can’t find it, in storage I think…Blessings
October 27th, 2006 at 7:09 pm18 months? Thats it?! Bullsh*t!
October 27th, 2006 at 7:12 pmCool one, Sharon!
October 27th, 2006 at 7:13 pmI’m angry about the 18 months, too.
But the max was a paltry 36 months.
What the Hell is wrong with us?
ugh.
October 27th, 2006 at 7:15 pmSomeone with a small bag of weed would pull down more time than this. No justice here.
October 27th, 2006 at 7:19 pmI wonder if Bush kept calling Dave here Jeff, Like he kept calling Jeff Dave, in the previous thread?
Hmmm
October 27th, 2006 at 7:39 pmLOL he gets 18 months at camp cupcake prison > I bet he takes tennis lessons and lawn bowling too!
October 27th, 2006 at 7:58 pmCry me a frickin’ river, Safavian.
You’re lucky it’s only 18 months. It ought to be more.
Dismissed.
October 27th, 2006 at 8:45 pmThink he’ll learn how to make a shank?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:10 pmNah, he is a Republican…he will go along to get along. Wink. Wink.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:14 pmHe’ll forget not to curse in polite society.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:20 pmSharon,
I can only come up with one thing in answer to your question in #12.
The Bush Administration has made the Nixon White House look good.
As you your other question, “is it hotter in the summer or in the city?” the answer is, “Yes.”
October 27th, 2006 at 9:47 pmAbramoff manipulated and we all paid. Didn’t that guy learn to use his best judgement some where along the way? I think part of the problem with the Republicans is that they grew up never having to pay the price for anything. Bush is a prime example. It’s a great big frat boy party and the country is paying the price. Put them all in prison.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:30 pmGood one, BnF, little slow getting back to TP. The Bear wake’s me up at 3:30 A.M. so I crash early…..Lot’s to read on all the thread’s……Blessings all.
October 28th, 2006 at 8:37 amAny links or info about this new “pan-american” highway scheme would be appreciated, first I have heard about it….
Speaking of ‘highways’ does anyone remember the movie BRASIL (spelling correct) from the late seventies or the eighties I believe. It was a movie by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame. Watch it, and you’ll cringe in the realiities which have come to pass, and in the final scenes you’ll get a glimpse of what this new “highway”
October 28th, 2006 at 2:21 pmwould look like.
