Undoubtedly they’ll wait until Nov 15th , 2008 to take any action.

They’ve been playing politics with the lives of victims ever since Katrina first happened over a year ago.

Karma is a bitch and it drives a Mack truck. Believe it.

They’ll also gather more interest on anything due.

  8. Republicans are the fear and smear party Says:

Great. Bush owns all four branches of government and the IRS.

Negative publicity for who? Not for the Agency - of which no employees are elected - but for the incumbent politicians whose vote totals would be negatively affected by additional disgruntled voters.

Of course by not collecting the money at the scheduled time he is depriving the government of the interest that would be gained from these deposits and it is in effect an embezzlement and contribution to the Republican Party.

But all these things are ‘fuzzy crime’ under King Bush.

Similarly, the Iraq Study Group’s report on Iraq has been delayed until after November 7.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is governor of California today primarily because his Democratic predecessor, Gray Davis, delayed bad news about the state’s budget deficit until after the gubernatorial election. Voters were so outraged that a recall drive took off and unseated him.

If only we could hold a presidential recall election on November 7.

I think the IRS is fooling themselves if they think that waiting to collect taxes from the victims of Katrina/Bush will change their minds even a tiny bit. These people were ignored for four days after three of the states in the United States America were hit with the worst natural disasters in our history.

  12. WaltTheMan Says:

    #11 - SpudgeBoy,
Katrina made landfall on August 29th, 2005; not October 22nd, 2006. As far as I know, the only person who gets/got any attention is/was Trent Lott. The rest are holed up hundreds or thousands of miles from their homes today.

…saying he did so in part to avoid negative publicity,”

He’s avoiding negative publicity for whom? Bastard.

  14. Marie Says:

Hmmm, Tax collection delayed until post-election - isn’t this unprecedented?

    What is this I-R-S?

  16. WaltTheMan Says:

    #14 - Marie,
No, it was also done in 1988, 1992, 2002 and 2004.
