96: the total number of troops who have died so far this month in Iraq, the bloodiest since October 2005. Five American troops were killed during fighting in Anbar Province yesterday.
Variety reports both NBC and The CW television networks have refused to air ads for the new Dixie Chicks documentary “Shut Up and Sing.” NBC reportedly claims the network “cannot accept these spots as they are disparaging to President Bush.”
Scott Howell, a close associate of Karl Rove, helped produce the racist ad targeting Harold Ford in Tennessee. A second producer of the ad, Terry Nelson, is a consultant to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Wal-Mart. Huff Post reports Nelson will be fired by Wal-Mart.
Responding to accusations made by Rush Limbaugh, Michael J. Fox said he was neither acting nor off his medication for Parkinson’s disease. “The irony of it is that I was too medicated,” Fox told CBS’s Katie Couric, adding that his jumpy condition as he spoke to her reflected “a dearth of medication — not by design. I just take it, and it kicks in when it kicks in.”
President Bush, “who has not been talking about gay marriage” in recent weeks, “took pains to insert a reference” to gay marriage during an appearance yesterday in an effort to use “to rally dispirited conservatives to the polls.”
A stark warning was delivered to Tony Blair and his cabinet yesterday by Sir Nicholas Stern, a former World Bank economist, about the potential economic effect of global warming. Stern argued “global warming could cost the world’s economies up to 20 per cent of their gross domestic product (GDP) if urgent action is not taken to stop floods, storms and natural catastrophes.”
Meanwhile, “the drive to tackle climate change gathered pace on Thursday as Morgan Stanley, the investment bank, announced a $3 billion plan to invest in the carbon trading market amid mounting evidence that some US states are growing more sympathetic to international action.”
Amnesty International is asking bloggers to show their support for the plight of fellow bloggers jailed for what they wrote in their online journals. The organization says freedom of expression and privacy “are under threat from governments that want to control what their citizens say, and what information they can access.”
Eighty-two percent of Americans believe Congress will set timetable for Iraq redeployment, and 63 percent believe Congress should set a timetable, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll.
What did we miss? Let us know in the comments section.
According to Matt Drudge, both NBC and The CW television networks have refused to air ads for the new Dixie Chicks documentary “Shut Up and Sing.†NBC reportedly claims the network “cannot accept these spots as they are disparaging to President Bush.â€

October 27th, 2006 at 9:13 amHey Larry from C, you were sampled by Eric Alterman yesterday – great post.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:18 am4, don’t know what you’re referring to, please explain?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:22 amRe: Michael J. Fox
While I think the controversy here has the benefit of making the message very wide-spread, the hypocrisy of Fox’s critics is appallingly typical. Does it really matter if Fox made the commercial with or without medication, or acting to exaggerate his symptoms? A commercial is best when it is compelling and symbolizes the issue presented. Politicians wear colors of the flag or jeans and a work shirt, pose with their families, play particular types of music, and have comments from particular people in their campaign ads – all to encapsolate their positions. The only point that SHOULD matter is whether the truth is being told about the issue. Fox told the truth. Can anyone dispute what he said? Don’t people with Parkinson’s exhibit the very symptoms he presented, even if (big if, IMO) he was exaggerating or even faking?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:24 amgo read the link. Eric Alterman used your TP post in his article!
October 27th, 2006 at 9:24 amgood for you, Larry!
October 27th, 2006 at 9:24 am:)
Doesn’t NBC have the right to air what they want to? Kinda like the Dixie Chicks have the right to say what they want to…..
October 27th, 2006 at 9:25 amBesides,
NBC executives are probably to busy reading Webb’s porno novels to do any work.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:26 amStupid me, I followed your link Terry and found it. Thanks for the heads up. Does this make me famous?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:26 amWTF!!! Why would MSM object to an ad because it is dispariging to the Chimp-in -Chief? I mean they could not put out enough dispariging stuff about Clinton. And he was only guilty of getting a BJ! Kill my soldiers, waste my treasure, lie constantly about it and I promise not to let you get DISPARGED in the press. Has this country lost its fu**ing MIND? We need to critize Bush and he needs our criticism, thats what keeps him in -line.
WOE to the country that is afraid of its government, the government should be afraid of the people. The MSM SUCKS, they are pansies for the GOP. The digital divide ensures that only so many folks see blogs, does anyone see where this is going?
Look at the GOP ads in Tenn., I would not beleive it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. So bold, so brazen, so ANTI-AMERICAN, ANTI-CHRISTIAN. Apparently they can’t even live up to the values they espouse. But then again the bible says they won’t live up to what Jesus has called them to do. Pride goeth before the fall.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:27 am#7, PLC,
You are a POS.
You Dems just don’t get how pathetic you looked throwing victims on the stage to evoke support, now you resort to ACTING like victims. Americans are becoming completely insensative to real issues, because you abuse their natural responses using these pitiful tactics.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:27 amAlterman is on my daily read. He was bounced from MSNBC recently, no balancing liberal blogger was asked to replace him. NBC shows it’s agenda, once again. That Olbermann is still on is surprising – keep writing letters to NBC in support of him.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:28 amTP just deleted my post in which I provide the link you progs demand – Michael J. Fox admits to faking the video by admitting that he was on the drugs which control his symptoms.

Hi, trueblue.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:31 amRepublicans and their allies in Al Qaeda want you to believe that America is weak. Too weak to defend itself against cave-dwelling losers without giving up our freedom.
They believe America is weak because THEY are weak. They are scared, they are panicked, and they are fools.
This November, show the world that America is NOT weak. Vote out the Republican sissies. It’s time to return America to it’s rightful place in the world as a shining beacon of freedom and hope, not a menacing pile of paranoia and fear as the Republicans want it to be.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:32 am#16, Turdle,
Terri Schiavo was euthanized – had the feeding tube pulled out of her throat. Reps were trying to save her by any means, not use her to justify abortion or other destruction of life.
She was the perfect example of the Right to Life movement, no need to fake a death when Dems are quick to snuff her themselves.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:32 amGood Morning, PLC.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:34 am(*snicker*)
Jason, as long as you profess to believe in a magic man in the sky, none of your arguments have any merit. You are simply not grounded in reality and block out any facts that contradict your ancient fairy tales.
Now run along. Don’t you have some homosexuals to harass? Some scared girls going to terminate their pregnancy to browbeat? Some science to suppress?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:37 amRantingTommy, you are absolutely right. Bush is a cruel little momma’s boy, and his fervent supporters wet their pants when they hear our coward-in-chief mumble the word terrorism.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:39 amYou Dems just don’t get how pathetic you looked throwing victims on the stage to evoke support
Stay on your own topic, Jason. Are you saying that Fox should hide himself from public view in shame and have no opinion about politics because he is diseased? How biblical of you.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:41 am#24, RantingTommy (appropo)
Even the most liberal posters on TP know that characterization of me is false. Once again, you resort to slashing at scarecrows, instead of taking on the real thing – typical coward lib.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:41 am#21 My thoughts exactly. We are living under the GOP Taliban of fear and oppression. Disagree with them and you ae OUT! At bible study someone had written ‘Rush for pres ‘08′ on a classroom board with a drawing of a mushroom cloud over N. Korea. I thought; how un-christlike Rush is and how Jesus said “Make war no more.”
I guess for many being a Christian is just an exercise in convience, to be pulled out when it suits our purpose.
We all know we are not always perfect or even good. I think the left is just much better about not pretending to be.
I am not scared of Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, Hugo Chavez, Hillary Clinton :-), gay marriage or even George Bush, you see, I am a Christian and I KNOW how the story ends. POINT, America isn’t even mentioned in the stories end and nothing the bible thumping LIE-Vangelicals do can change THAT!

By Adam Entous
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Just over an hour after the White House’s surprise pledge to help India develop its civilian nuclear power sector, the head of General Electric, the American company that could benefit most from the policy change, sat down for a celebratory dinner.
The host was President George W. Bush; a few feet away was India’s prime minister, Manmohan Singh, and his top aides. GE Chief Executive Jeff Immelt, a contributor to Bush’s presidential campaigns, had a coveted seat at the president’s table.

Out of curiousity, I am sure the progs vetted Webb before foisting him into the arena, did you? I mean, you had to know he wrote misogynistic novels which included incestuous homosexual themes, right? You knew he stated that women weren’t psychologically fit to serve in the military, didn’t you?
What part of those actions made you think he was an “excellent fit” for the US Senate?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:49 amSaw the Dixie Chicks interviewed yesterday.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:49 amSmart and articulate young women, who believe in free speech, and who have been blacklisted by the Bushista network.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:49 amThe military has blocked all left-leaning web sites from soldiers’ access. Of course, the rightwingers (Lintball and others) are allowed.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:52 am#41, Marie,
Dixie chicks aren’t articulate, just coached and rehearsed. Natalie wasn’t articulate when you ran her mouth about dubya, ruining the careers of her and her band members.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:53 amMichael J. Fox admits to faking the video by admitting that he was on the drugs which control his symptoms.

October 27th, 2006 at 9:53 amYou mean like landng on an aircraft carrier wearing a halloween outfit and talking about mission accomplished? How about a 45 million dollar smear campaign? How about that forged yellowcake document?

October 27th, 2006 at 9:55 amI am a bit confused. NBC broadcasts Bush’s speeches and press conferences don’t they? How do they justify that when whenever Bush speaks he is so clearly disparaging to himself?

October 27th, 2006 at 9:56 amOne never knows who is reading what we write here.
Anybody catch yesterday Rove’s use the words “THE MATH” when describing the polls he’s seeing and how those polls convince him the Repubs. will hold the Senate and House? Chilling stuff. Rove went out of his way to correct the interviewer who said math shows the Democrats picking up many seats.
I think I’ve cracked the complexity of Rovian Mathematics:
10 Diebold Votes for Ned Lamont = 9 for Lieberman, 1 for Lamont
(can be expressed as…10D (NL) – 9 = 1
Since they don’t believe in science why should they believe in math?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:56 am#45, dlet,
His drugs prevent those shakes, as we have seen in other tapes of him, so he played it up in the video – as Matt Lauer said – everybody believes it, and in the end, isn’t that what really matters?
October 27th, 2006 at 9:56 amJason is just another scared little Republican that is willing to let the terrorists change America just to make him FEEL a tiny bit safer.
It’s pure cowardice that makes one support Republicans.
Republicans use FEAR to push their agenda, which, by definition, makes them terrorists.
I, for one, refuse to let the Republicans terrify me with their phony “war on terror”.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:56 amEVERYONE, don’t let Herr Hendler sidetrack this thread, as he is wan’t to do.
There is an interesting freedom of speech issue. Television networks receive government licenses to use portions of the ultraviolet spectrum to transmit their broadcasts. They are supposed to be content neurtral.
Entertainers, on the other hand, are not regulated. There is a difference.
Corporate Media is self-censoring to deliver a product and control the flow of information Americans receive, thus controling the attitude of the American public. We have a Ministry of (dis)Information by default. Is it any small coincidence that this Administration has allowed fewer and fewer corporations control more and more of the media?
What should have been an independent check on governmental power, the free press, has become an extension of government propaganda.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:57 am#50, Larry,
If you don’t believe Rove or me, then believe the Los Angeles Times, who states all races are so tight, that, except for a couple clear leads by a handful of Dems and Reps, either all or none of the Dem challengers will win or lose together, based on party turnout, which always goes to the Reps.
See you here the day after the election.
October 27th, 2006 at 9:59 am…. libs OVERREACH by over dramatic and often false / fake assertions. Jason, Jason, Jason. Such name calling. You are starting to sound like an RNC Attack Ad. Besides, we were not screaming “pedaphile” but “pedophile.” As for “false/fake assertions” on Foley, you should note it was REPUBLICANS who made the accusations against Foley.
Say, whats our opinion on why Foley, age 52, wanted a 16 year old boy to tell him how big is penis is? I mean, I’m not suggesting Foley is a “pedaphile” but maybe he’s only a sick-assed pervert.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:00 amI think this part of my previous post is being lost in the discussion here and elsewhere:
The only point that SHOULD matter is whether the truth is being told about the issue. Fox told the truth. Can anyone dispute what he said? Don’t people with Parkinson’s exhibit the very symptoms he presented, even if (big if, IMO) he was exaggerating or even faking?
Isn’t the truth about Parkinson’s and about embryonic stem cells what REALLY matters?

I am a centrist libertarian, not a Republican. I keep hoping the prog movement will mature, and turn into something I can back, but you refuse to grow.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:00 am98, the number of Americans for whom the right to life no longer exists. Certain demagogues use a three-word slogan to control how people think. It’s not about the right to life, it’s about power and control. Why is a collection of a few cells, or a brain-dead woman somehow more valuable than the thousands of soldiers we send off to die for a lie?
How is there a sanctity to life when we use cluster bombs on civilian neighborhoods?
655,000 Iraqi CHILDREN, WOMEN, and MEN were deprived of their right to life by the Bush Administration. That’s mass murder!
I continue to pray that those who know of the crimes of this Administration continue to come forward with testimony and evidence of wrongdoing.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:01 amCan we just not reply to JMH?
October 27th, 2006 at 10:01 amHe is one sick f**k, shilling and trolling here for the RNC. His mission is to take over the comments.
Wrong again, Jason. The drugs prevent freezing up. The movement is a side effect of the drug.
Hence: not only was he NOT off his meds, the video is evidence that he was ON them.
Don’t you EVER get tired of being wrong?
October 27th, 2006 at 10:02 amJason, you are repeating yourself. I can only conclude from this you have nothing left to offer but the same personal attacks. Why should anyone pay any attention to you or your arguments? You simply reinforce people’s opinion of what they find most abhorrent about the right wing in this country. Congratulations on your achievement.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:02 amYou’re tight on both points, Briseadh na Faire,

Hopefully we’ll take them back Nov7.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:03 am57, for clarity’s sake, you might want to say Michael J. Fox told the truth. It’s extremely rare when FOX tells the truth!

#60, RantingTommy,
If that is what you want to believe, then keep on believing it. The perception of many who watched MJF’s video, is that he faked it, and it is perception that matters when you are “campaigning”.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:04 amJason doesn’t care about blastocysts or life thats just a GrOPer talking point. Jason only cares about life from the time of conception [Thats sex Jason, I know you fear it.] to the time of birth and that’s where the talking point ends. Jason doesn’t want that baby to have any healthcre if it’s sick or dying. Don’t let these ‘Jason’-o-cons fool you.

Despite minimal airplay, Taking the Long Way debuted at number one on both the U.S. pop albums chart and the U.S. country albums chart, selling 526,000 copies in the first week (the year’s second-best such total for any country act) and making it a gold record within its first week. The Chicks became the first female group in chart history to have three albums debut at #1
Yes Jason, sounds like their careers are in a downward spiral. You mistake your own beliefs with facts.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:06 amFrom the article on Michael J. Fox:
This seems to be the right’s biggest complaint, not what the spokespeople are actually saying, but who is saying it. Because apparently the right thinks that the way to attack an argument made by someone is to attack the person making it, not what the person is saying. It shows that they do not know how to properly debate a point on its merits. It also shows that when they have nothing to say in response to what is being said, they feel their only recourse is to attack the speaker. I have not heard one accurate, logical argument from anyone on the right as to why Michael J. Fox, who knows more about Parkinson’s than Rush Limbaugh, who knows how to work in the television and film industry (and would, therefore, be an easier person to work with when filming a commercial, as opposed to some of the trolls who post here), and who can speak in public, should not be speaking up in support of federal funding for stem cell research.
So the right feels that because they have nothing to say about the merits of his argument, they attack the left because they aren’t allowed to attack Fox himself? And somehow, attack Fox himself will lend any argument they have against him credibility? I don’t understand.
Perhaps one of the trolls would like to explain why he should be allowed to attack Fox personally and not what Fox is saying. I’m curious.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:08 am49, Well we know that Bush isn’t reading any of this. He’s still figuring out how to work “The Google”.
But you can bet that Choicepoint or some Choicepoint like company downloads all the data here and stores it in their computers. Then they trace our screen names to our real names. Then they match these files with our other files (medical, financial, personal, library) they’ve “retrieved” from other sources using the Patriot Act.
Based on the collected data they make a nice room reservation for us at one of the detention facilities the kindly folks at Haliburton are building across the country.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:09 am#54 BNF – Ah found it – Greg Palast calls the self-censored media in the United States being ‘behind the electronic Berlin Wall’. The recent Newsweek covers were the most stark evidence of that reality that I had seen. Anyhow, here’s Greg.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:10 am#68, dlet,
Dixie Chicks got an artificial bump on debut, then crashed and burned when country stations wouldn’t play them and fans wouldn’t go to their concerts – nothing compared to their careers prior to her “articulation”.
I suspect that meager bump they did receive was similar to certain book sales hitting number one because Streisand bought thousands of copies at once …
October 27th, 2006 at 10:10 amI mean, you had to know he wrote misogynistic novels which included incestuous homosexual themes, right? What part of those actions made you think he was an “excellent fit†for the US Senate?

I’m thinking the “incestuous homosexual themes” you mentioned. I mean, why should the Republicans have all the sick perverts and pedophiles walking the halls of congress? I’m like the Faux News Network, wanting to keep it fair an balanced.
That and the fact that three major military leaders have now spoken out in support Jim Webb over Allen: Generals Anthony Zinni, commander in chief of U.S. Central Command from 1997 to 2000; retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who served as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO forces; and retired Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell. All three have told reporters that Webb would be a better representative than his opponent, Sen. George Allen.

Um, liberals want liberty, libertarians want no interference from government in the business / private lives of citizens. Libertarian is the opposite of big government, and Reps have been undoing Democratic big government policies since they took power.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:18 amThe right didn’t make Terry Schiavo info-mercials, they just talked up the issue of euthanasia, and cited her as an example. The left can’t wait to wheel Chris Reeve or anyone else up to a microphone – absolutely shameless.
Hey, don’t take my word for it, keep doing what you are doing, and keep losing elections, issues and supporters.
Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler
One small but important difference. Terry Schiavo was a brain-dead person that could live off of life support and could not think anymore because her brain has shrunk and withered. She could not speak for herself. Her husband asked for her to die in peace. The Repubs used her situation as political bait to their “life” base. Fox, Reeve or anyone else is an actually functioning human being that is able to articultate what they want for themselves. They are not being used by anyone they are using other people to get out what they want. If you can’t see the difference….oh what am I saying of courese you won’t see the difference.

October 27th, 2006 at 10:27 amhahaha, Jason, you are delusional.
#1 – You are NOT a Libertarian. The current Republican party has INCREASED the size of the Federal Government EVERY YEAR since 2000. There is nothing conservative about the Republicans anymore.
#2 – Your paranoia is now causing you to think that I’m some other poster.
#3 – You are scared. You are frightened. You think that a former male cheerleader from Connecticut playing dress up as a Texas cowboy is the only thing that can protect you from these all-powerful terrorists that the TV has you so afraid of.
You are a sissy and a fraud. Now go pretend to be for freedom.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:27 amdlet, didn’t Chimpy cut short his vacation to fly to Washington to sign the Frist ‘I’m not a real doctor, I just play one on TV’ bill? And yet he couldn’t cut short his guitar-playing for hurricane Katrina and couldn’t cut short his fishing trip for ‘Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the US’? What Chimpy cuts Chimpy’s vacation for says a lot about Chimpy.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:28 am#87,
October 27th, 2006 at 10:33 amOf course Terry. Nothing like trying to save one brain-dead person to make up for the tens of thousands he has directly caused the deaths of. Saving Terry could have sent him to heaven.
The left can’t wait to wheel Chris Reeve or anyone else up to a microphone – absolutely shameless.
Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler
I do agree that wheeling Christopher Reeve up to a microphone would be shameless seeing as how he’s DEAD!
Nice try. But you also did not respond to what I said. Nor do I believe you ever will. Just know that we on the left do support more funding for education to help people who need it.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:34 amI just thought of somehing……Terry Shiavo……TerrytheTurtle…..you are not the reincarnation of Shiavo are you?

October 27th, 2006 at 10:52 am#22 Jason M. Hendler
She was the perfect example of Republicans jumping into people’s lives and f*cking with them!!!
Jason, imagine this. Pretend you’re married or live with someone who cares about you. You tell them, “If I ever get terminally ill or I’m in a vegetative state or a coma, and it goes on a long time without hope of recovery, please don’t spend a lot of money just keeping me hooked up to a machine. I want you to take me off of life support.” Now, maybe you’re too vain to have said something like that and you’d prefer that your family spend well over a million dollars to keep you alive for decades, even though you’re not even conscious of what’s going on around you. In that case, you’d be so far out of step with the vast majority of Americans, you’re clueless about how real people think and feel. But, let’s pretend anyway. Then it happens. You’re in a persistent vegetative state for over ten years. Your family has exhausted all of its resources trying to keep you alive. How do you feel about the government stepping in and trying to tell your family that they can’t honor your wishes?
Go ahead, Jason. Spin away.
October 27th, 2006 at 10:54 am“Please don’t forget us when Paris Hilton jumps your bones!
Yuck, skinny blonde coke addicts, I’d rather be accosted by a tortoise. ”
At least it would last longer!
October 27th, 2006 at 11:00 amRantingTommy, your comment #80 is a perfect description of Jason.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:01 am#93 Roger_Roger
Yeah, good thing the Republicans don’t write porn novels like that.
Oh, wait. What’s this?
“At age ten the madam put the child in a cage with a bear trained to couple with young girls so the girls would be frigid and not fall in love with their patrons. They fed her through the bars and aroused the bear with a stick when it seemed to lose interest.”
The Apprentice, by Lewis Libby
Oh yeah, and then there’s the porn (by your definition) novels from Bill O’Reilly, Newt Gingrich, and Lynne Cheney. Shall we start quoting chapter and verse? That could be fun.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:01 am#81 Jason M. Hendler
Reps have been undoing Democratic big government policies since they took power.
Now you’re just being silly. The government has grown more under the complete control of Republicans than it ever has before. Old school conservatives are disgusted with the Republican party for what they’ve been doing to the federal government under Bush.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:04 amI guess this Webb thing isn’t just like the Foley thing. Foley was already elected which was worse. Thankfully, you Dems won’t vote for Webb or you would be hypocrits.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:07 am#79 JMH
I am beginning to believe that Webb was a Trojan Horse sent to the Dems to kill their chances in VA. What do you think?
I think you’re full of yourself.

Oh yeah, Allen’s really running away with it.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:11 am91, Zooey: How odd because Paris WAS in town yesterday (100% true). I went to meet her with a copy of Eric Alterman’s column (featuring my “brilliant” post) in hand to prove I was worthy of her attention.
So she invited me up to her room to make a “video”.
As she was slowly undressing she asked me what my (now world) famous mention in the article was about. I explained to her that it was a list I compiled proving the media is not liberal at all. Infact, its quite conservative. And on top of that its extremely shallow.
Paris may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but she surely understands one thing very well…a media that is not shallow will not follow her. Will not build her fame. Will not support her ego.
In an instant she saw me as a threat to her very being. Even her very small mind could understand that a media busy covering real news wouldn’t be covering her. In a blink she turned furious.
So she put her clothes back on, turned off the camera and kicked me out of the room.
I came so close to heaven. But at least I have my integrity.
(This is a work of fiction, except the part that my post was mentioned in Eric Alterman’s column and Paris Hilton was in town yesterday.)
October 27th, 2006 at 11:18 amHendler,
PLC is right about Michael J. Fox, it doesn’t matter if the guy took his meds or not. He has the illness. People who are evaluated for an illness should have the most efficacious display of their symptoms, so the illness can be seen for what it is. The real symptoms need to be seen. Hope you never get a chronic illness Hendler.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:19 amGood Morning all, well here we are, another Friday in bull shit bush bizarro world.
Off topic, sorry…The reich wingers are realy in trouble now, by their action’s we know it….Latest thing down the pike they are bringing out their first lady to campaign again. They do this every time they are on the run…Just don’t let her drive any where and we should all be safe……Blessings all
October 27th, 2006 at 11:23 amSo, McCain’s journey to the Dark Side is complete.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:24 amForTruth – You are much to kind to Hendler.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:31 amMany of us suspect he already has a chronic mental illness. Centrist Libertarian! Look in the mirror again Jason, much, much more like fascist neocon.
It is all ok,
Webb just said that a dad sticking his son’s penis in his mouth isn’t a sexual act. He said it is a perfectly normal thing to do. It is all better now. Wait, what a sick bastard!!
October 27th, 2006 at 11:35 am#104, Roger Roger…
Is that your argument, one (Webb) was writing fiction…One( Foley) was comitting a crime. You are grasping at straws and you know it. You have nothing to stand one. Using your methods actors who play roles that morally inept are just as guilty. . Lets look at ARNOLD for that one…or Reagan…It doesn;t hold water and they only reason you posted is to move the eye from the “magic” trick.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:41 amSo you (Zerofun) want to elect someone who writes porno novels of children that there dads molest? At least foley quit office when he was caught. Will Webb have the same decency to quit the race now that we found out how perverted he is?
October 27th, 2006 at 11:48 amRoger, how perverted is he? f.i.c.t.i.o.n Steven King, we should Fry him asap…cause that is a sick f**k. Is that your argument? what about Pat Conroy. String him up, or how about Arnold for killing all those people in the terminator movies. Arrest him, or how about mark foley Instant messages to pages. f.a.c.t. Cover that up…Wait a minute did something pass us by? Was it the that fact and fiction are two different things. But yes I would rather elect someone who “writes” a scene that involves a terrible scene in novel, not a porno novel…read the book roger first, then comment on it (talking points much) than someone who is a racist, couldn’t write a paragraph and a bad football player to boot. Don’t compare Foley to Webb ever again because they are nothing alike. When you actually realize the sh*t you’ve been swollowing is killing you it will be too late. Realize that your mission here is too distract others from the truth, and you succeed…well done, but when they come for you, your gratitude and service to their party will do you about as much good as the cigarettes your smoking.
October 27th, 2006 at 12:03 pmYeah Roger, let’s get a big ass bonfire and throw all the books containing any mention of sex on it. Hey, as long as the bonfire’s so big, let’s tie up the authors and throw them on to. How f**king Amerikan of you!
October 27th, 2006 at 12:07 pmMr. Schneider, Chimpeach, For Truth and all, might I suggest an experiment? Let us all not respond at all to Mr. Hendler’s posts.
It will be fascinating to see if what is alleged to happen on other sites begins to happen here, that is, will posters such as Mr. Hendler begin debating with himself under various names?
We all know him for a fascist idiot. Let’s try leaving him to his nonsensical non-sequitors and we’ll continue discussing the real issues and sharing real information and links.
Just a thought….
October 27th, 2006 at 12:17 pmBNF, you suppose we could extend that to R&R?
October 27th, 2006 at 12:23 pm116 Briseadh,
You may be right. I don’t know why I keep falling for that trap. As much as I try to avoid addressing them directly by name (the uncivil ones; it’s no secret that Exley and I have cordial discussions despite what anyone else says to him) I find I can’t do it. I try to start by simply addressing the points made in the stupid post, without addressing the author directly. I try to say why I think that the argument being made is based on false information or is erroneously argued. My hope is that what I say in response might be useful to other progessives and liberals when they get into these discussion with people in “the real world”. (Yeah, I didn’t realize you could talk to people without a computer, either. Imagine my surprise.) In fact, that’s one reason I like it when some of the more knowledgeable people (such as yourself) help out by succinctly shooting down the argument made by them. It helps me when I get into these discussions elsewhere.
But I will take you up on your suggestion. If I come down to the office this weekend it will probably be to work on my blog (click my name), so I probably won’t be posting here much anyway for a few days.
Have a good weekend. Peace on Earth.
October 27th, 2006 at 12:41 pm#111 Roger_Roger
Webb just said that a dad sticking his son’s penis in his mouth isn’t a sexual act. He said it is a perfectly normal thing to do. It is all better now. Wait, what a sick bastard!!
Good for you, Roger! What a great job of editing! Out of context AND chopped up AND altered text. Why don’t you just go the extra foot or so and make up a quote? All the truly loyal GOPers do it.
October 27th, 2006 at 12:44 pm#122 Briseadh+na+Faire
Let us all not respond at all to Mr. Hendler’s posts.
It will be fascinating to see if what is alleged to happen on other sites begins to happen here, that is, will posters such as Mr. Hendler begin debating with himself under various names?
It sounds like an interesting experiment. I tend to push back on clowns like Hendler for educational purposes. Somebody might be reading ThinkProgress for the first time and start following a thread like this, and then when they hear a neighbor or co-worker slinging the same BS arguments as JMH and Roger, they’ll be prepared to rip through them without hesitation.
It’s all about facts and reason, neither of which gets much use on the Republicans’ side. But, sometimes, responding to these guys is like playing tee-ball. They tee up the same old silly hollow arguments and a dozen or so people take turns whacking them into the cheap seats.
October 27th, 2006 at 1:05 pmBNF
I wonder if we should have our own “three strikes and you’re out” dynamic. Once an individual troll posts three comments containing unearned insults, lies, or repetitions of a debunked theme, any other poster can call for a boycott. This is not censorship because the troll can keep blabbering, we just don’t respond.
October 27th, 2006 at 1:07 pmOff topic again…Nothing about the 10.49 billion profit in the third quarter made by Exxon….Missing lot’s of new’s….Corprate america is the owner of our country and stripping all our rights..Our tax dollars go to benefit them and then they get huge profit’s to boot…..Would bet all these huge companies have a hot line number to cheney/rove/rummy/rice and orders and speaking word’s are written for the dumbass to keep the masses busy buying and afraid enough to vote for his crap. The 30% that is……Blessings..Peace
October 27th, 2006 at 1:11 pmThat’s on topic, Sharon, closer than Jason M Hendler’s ‘watch me jerk off’ posts.
Here’s the BBC on the ‘death of the American dream’.
Look at that graph at the bottom on the second link. Note the ominous signs of the housing market and growth slowdown…. one swallow does not make a summer, but that does appear to be a turd bobbing in the American swimming pool.
October 27th, 2006 at 1:37 pmWe have had good results boycotting ABC, I see NBC is going to get the same treatment…..ADVERTISING DOLLARS …goodbye….another channel off my line up,like fox and abc. Have they never read the 1st amentment? It says ‘freedom OF the press’, NOT ‘freedom to suppress’….DUH!
October 27th, 2006 at 1:53 pmThank’s for the link Terry, a good read……..I get a lot of info from Truthout and a few others…..A trud blossom bobbing in the american swimming pool would be a good thing though.. .LOL..Trouble with our pool’s we no longer have a life guard, only a bull horn that blow’s and never show’s……..Blessings

Ah, but Larry, you wouldn’t even have your integrity if Paris didn’t have “standards.”
Whoa, I’m dizzy….Paris Hilton….standards……cognitive dissonance….
:-)
October 27th, 2006 at 3:19 pmLook, it breaks my heart that the Dixie Chicks have been censored. Really. If the American public saw how virulently the Dems hate the President, the Republicans would win in a landslide. I’d write a dirty note to NBC and protest this censorship if I were you.
October 27th, 2006 at 4:27 pmAlright, TP I found one you missed: yesterday, in a vote at the UN, there was only one country that voted against a proposal to investigate and define a small arms trade limitation treaty. Guess who?
