CNN just reported the incident in Charlottesville, VA, today where blogger Mike Stark was assaulted by supporters of Sen. George Allen (R-VA). One of CNN’s affiliates asked Allen for comment on the incident, and CNN reported that he responded, “Things like that happen.”
Stark is not, as CNN reported, a “protester.” He is a constituent who was trying to ask Allen a question. Watch it:
Transcript:
CNN: This is something you have to see, Kyra. We saw Dana Bash’s story dealing with Senator George Allen. He’s making news yet again. This time involving a protester. Take a look at the video. He was campaigning in Charlottesville and a protester came up on him, wanted to talk to him. And you’ll see what happens next.
STARK: He’s my senator. I’m asking a question.
ALLEN SUPPORTER: You going to need to leave, now. Get out the door.
STARK: Are you part of the –
ALLEN SUPPORTER: No I’m not. No, I’m not at all. Let’s move on.
STARK: Senator, did you spit on your first wife.
ALLEN SUPPORTER: Oh now you’re getting personal. Now you’re getting personal. Now you’re getting personal.
STARK: I didn’t touch anybody.
ALLEN SUPPORTER: You need to move him on out of here, now.
STARK: If the hotel asked me to leave, I’d leave.
CNN: So there you have it. A protester trying to get close to Senator George Allen as he was leaving a speaking event. In fact, he was leaving one part of the hotel trying to get to another part to speak with the media when that man approached him. As you can see, Allen’s people tackled him to the ground. Some may call it manhandling him. But when asked a little bit later by one of our affiliates there in Charlottesville about what the Senator thought about what had just happened, he says “things like that happen, obviously.” A very interesting day for him, no doubt. No word on any injuries or anything like that. But obviously, something that you don’t see all the time. And just leads to more controversy surrounding Senator George Allen.
Things like that happen in the world of chunkheaded racists.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:54 pmI live in Albany, NY — where Mike Stark resided up until a few months back. He gave us Albany types much pride with his daily calls to Hannity and Rush and Wilkow (local chump who now has a show on Sirius). Our local alternative news weekly did an article on Mike some time back. If anyone is interested, here it is.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:54 pmThat is great. I can’t watch it enough. The guy acted like an a-hole so he got treated like one.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:56 pmdo the NRA supporters in the house think it would’ve been ok for this guy to shoot the Allen supporters with a concealed handgun because they were threatening his personal space and safety? give us an honest answer, please, gun guys?
October 31st, 2006 at 3:56 pmWow, Happy+Guy really was proven right in his comments on the previus thread. That Mike Stark really deserved to have the shit beaten out of him.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:59 pmThat is great. I can’t watch it enough. The guy acted like an a-hole so he got treated like one.
Comment by Happy+Guy
Yeah Allen sure is an a-hole for. He should be treated to more questions.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:59 pmThings like “spitting on your ex-wife” happen?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:00 pm“Protester”? Is that how they refer now to what we used to call a “constituent”?
Hope the old bald guy didn’t scuff the shine on his jackboots.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:00 pmThat is great. I can’t watch it enough. The guy acted like an a-hole so he got treated like one.
Comment by Happy+Guy — October 31, 2006 @ 3:56 pm
You are acting like an a-hole right now. How do you think you should be treated?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:01 pmHave you no shame, Happy+Guy? I’m waiting for you to retract your comments on the last thread. We now know everything that occurred during the exchange, and Allen’s goons still come out looking like, well, goons.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:04 pmGoing out for a little ultra-violence this evening Happy+Guy? Taking your dragoons with you?
Really, you celebrate this? Should the White House press corps get their teeth kicked in for questioning Tony Snow?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:05 pmThe Republicans are working for the American people. We are paying his wages. He needs to answer the question this man asked him. If he lives in his district he is entitled to this. All Republican are arrogant.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:06 pmHmmm, you were treated to things you did not want to hear by me so you threaten me with violence? Pop me in the mouth?
Wow – you just proved my point. I provoked you and you responeded. Sound familiar :)
October 31st, 2006 at 4:07 pmPeople shouldn’t respond to Happy+Guy he’s another unpaid Limbaugh type. He’ll just end up crapping over everyone.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:09 pmJust like I thought. Republicans would sooner beat someone than walk away. These are the same guys that support torture. Looks like their fifth-grade educations are matched only by their fifth-grade attitudes towards others.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:13 pmOctober 31st, 2006 at 4:13 pm
ALLEN SUPPORTER: “Oh now you’re getting personal. Now you’re getting personal. Now you’re getting personal.” As he began to personally beat him.

October 31st, 2006 at 4:18 pmHappy Guy, go trick or treating. The grown-ups are talking now.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:18 pmAt the very least I would have knocked the dogshit out both of them including the old man. If they think they’re big enough to put me in a headlock they better be man enough to finish the job.
I hope these guys feel good about themselves. They got caught on national television acting like complete neanderthals. I hope they kill themselves out of a deep sense of shame before Nov. 7th.
“Hulk angry. Hulk smash.”
October 31st, 2006 at 4:19 pmIn fairness, if we just talked about other things and IGNORED HAPPY GUY…..Happy Guy wouldn’t be happy. He is just someone looking to pick a fight…..saying what he knows will get the goat. If he really wanted to debate, talk or share ideas…..he would go to someplace where they share his ideas. Instead, we keep it going…..but telling him how out of touch and ignorant are his thoughts. We are brighter and bolder than this. Let Happy Guy say what he wants…..after being IGNORED ENOUGH….HE WILL GO AWAY OR ATLEAST NOT BE SO HAPPY!!
October 31st, 2006 at 4:21 pmI think that maybe…possibly…Happy + Dude has been practicing the “abstinence til age 29″ thing too long.
See, I told you, too much pent up frustration causes extreme anger and stupidity.
My favorite from Happy “pent up” Dude….”I can call you names, but when you call me names back, I won! I won! I won! nana nana naaaana, Hillary’s got a big ol’ butt!”
Man, a 20 something virgin with debate skills like a 4th grader….I LOVE THIS SITE!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 4:21 pmThe funny thing about bullies is they always eventually come up against someone like me. I get a sick joy out of beating down bullies. Especially in front of their friends.
Bullies are, after all, cowards, which makes them gravitate towards authoritarian regimes.
Cowards vote Republican because they are really that scared of the cavemen.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:22 pmAccording to George Allen’s own sister, this thuggery is par for the course:
“Ever since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I’ve had a fear of heights.”
October 31st, 2006 at 4:23 pmPeejay, re: #28
October 31st, 2006 at 4:25 pmI agree, and normally I try to follow that rule (such as mighty aphterthough, or whatever her post name is)
But with the homophobes, or sexists (JMH), I just can’t resist, and besides…they are sooooooooooo easy
It looks like 1937 all over again.
I wonder when “Hollywood George” will issue the brown shirts and armbands to his stormtroopers?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:26 pmThis is funny, Happy Guy, the Foley pedophile defender is defending Allen now.
You lost all credibility when you defended Foley.
Defending Allen, you just sound like a nutbag
October 31st, 2006 at 4:28 pm#32 I hear you, but is it really fair to pick on the witless?? I know it’s fun, but is it fair…LOL
October 31st, 2006 at 4:29 pmHoly Macaca! What a video…
James Webb is a decorated war hero, a brilliant novelist and a statesman, and if there is a God, he will be elected to the Senate.
Chickenhawk George Allen who took a deferment instead of fighting in Vietnam can take his bag of dirty tricks and his back to his Confederate flag decorated home and dream about what could have been.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:29 pmThank you for confirming your support for facism.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:29 pmThis “heckler/protester/blogger/constituent” must have mistaken Sen. Allen for Rufus T. Firefly, King of Freedonia, and he called him an “upstart.” That’s one word that the Fireflys will not tolerate.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:32 pmThat’s the Republican way. If you disagree with them, beat the crap out of them.
Don’t like what your mother says? If you’re a Republican punch her lights out. You dad disagrees with you, kick him in the nuts and beat the crap out of him.
Diplomacy is for cowards. Republicans use their fists, not their arguments.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:32 pmHmmm, you were treated to things you did not want to hear by me so you threaten me with violence? Pop me in the mouth?
Wow – you just proved my point. I provoked you and you responeded. Sound familiar :)
Comment by Happy+Guy — October 31, 2006 @ 4:07 pm
So.. you condone three guys tackling one guy who’s asking a question? I just want to get this right.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:33 pmHere’s more from Allen’s sister’s book:
“What are you morons watching?” George asked as he changed the channel to Hee Haw. George loved Hee Haw. His favorite character was the big, slow-witted Junior. Junior tried to tell jokes yet always failed to remember the punch line. There was also something mildly country-thuggish about Junior that I think George felt akin to. (page 21-22)
We all obeyed George. If we didn’t, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. Another time, when I refused to go to bed, George dragged me up the stairs by my hair. George hoped someday to become a dentist. George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession–getting paid to make people suffer. Instead, George became a lawyer and went into politics.(page 21-22)
Ever since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I’ve had a fear of heights. (page 43)
The last time we all watched a game together, George beat up Bruce, and Bruce beat up Gregory, and I bit my nails, and Mom screamed, “Stop, stop, stop!” and held a knife above her head and threatened to kill herself if we didn’t stop fighting. (page 77)
Dad would soon be named chairman of the Summer Jobs Program for needy youth in Washington. He thought all us kids should have jobs by now. None of us did. Not even George, who was about to enter his second year in college. (page 88)
George took out a plug of tobacco and stuffed it in his mouth. He growled up a thick wad of phlegm and spit it into his hand for the dogs to come lick. He was dressed like a character on Hee Haw–cowboy hat, flannel shirt, blue jeans, and boots. Mom admired him more than any of her other children. He got straight As even when he acted like a hick. She went to stroke her son’s strong arm, but he brushed her away with a loud burp. (page 162)
My brother George welcomed him [Jennifer's new boyfriend Flynn] by slamming a pool cue against his head. (page 178)
My brother George sat with me for hours by the pool one day, measuring out parcels of his past [for Jennifer's book], all the while reminding me to remain faithful to the facts. (page 239)
October 31st, 2006 at 4:33 pmRepublicans are cowards.
I’m not scared enough to vote Republican, are you?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:35 pmRepublicans use their fists, not their arguments.
Comment by Weaseldog
Actually, Republicans don’t use their own fists because most have never really fought. they will get someone else to do their dirty work
October 31st, 2006 at 4:37 pmI’d be filing assault charges and a multimillion dollar lawsuit so fast it would make Macacawitz’ head spin. This is AMERICA, you brownshirted nutjobs.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:41 pmSounds like this guy ambushed Allen and his entourage between events, got inappropriately close to him and asked him whether he ever spit on his ex-wife.
Tackling him was almost surely not appropriate, but Mike Stark was hardly just a “constituent trying to ask Allen a question”.
If I was walking to work and someone charged up to me and asked me that, I’d probably be a bit concerned too, and I’m just Joe Q Nobody, not a US Senator and potential Presidential candidate.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:44 pm“Things like that happen.†Uh, do they happen often?
I love the question, though: “Did you spit on your first wife?” Just your normal, ‘ask the candidate’-type question.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:48 pmRepublican supporters 2006 = nazi stormtroopers 1936. Only things missing are the brown shirts, jackboots, & swastikas.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:49 pm#45 – Do you consider Allen a potential 2008 Presidential candidate?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:49 pmJane,
October 31st, 2006 at 4:54 pmthat question musta really hit a nerve.
If someone had asked me that question, I would have responded “What the hell are you talking about?”
but then again, I’ve never spit on wife #1 (and the only #1!!!)
If I was walking to work and someone charged up to me and asked me that, I’d probably be a bit concerned too
Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 4:44 pm
Having their thugs rough up a trespasser is expected from people in organised crime rathen than from someone supposed to be a representative of the people.
Politicians are asked uncomfortable questions all the time. This response is well beyond what’s acceptable.
Since when do Americans tolerate, condone, and excuse the government’s use of physical force to silence uncomfortable questions from its citizenry?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:56 pmdammit,
October 31st, 2006 at 4:56 pmI think Happy + Dude’s mom took his computer away. And it was so much fun taking turns doing the Happy + Dude bash.
Ah well, there’s always tomorrow
#45, EvilCornbread, yes, but would you grab two other people and tackle that person? I doubt it, that’s not the Joe Q Nobody’s first reaction.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:56 pmAllen is no longer a potential Presidential candidate, thank God.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:56 pmJust because a couple hundred people kiss your ass every day does not mean you are presidential material.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:57 pmI’m not scared enough to vote Republican, are you?
Not all. My britches aren’t pee stained.
Actually, Republicans don’t use their own fists because most have never really fought. they will get someone else to do their dirty work
Is that why Lieberman isn’t a card carry Republican yet?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:58 pm“Well which wife are you referring to, I didn’t spit on all of them”
October 31st, 2006 at 4:58 pm#48 – no, not really any more. He was certainly one of the very early presumed frontrunners for the Republican Nomination though, and might be again at some point. Who knows.
Not that that’s terribly relevant to the point I was making. This wasn’t just a case of an innocent dude asking a question and getting tackled. He jumped Allen between events, got all up in his face, and asked him a ridiculous and inappropriate question.
Feel free to use this to paint the Republicans as hot-tempered bullys, but don’t be surprised when it blows up in your face. As a Democrat, I know I sure don’t want this Stark whackjob representing me in any way, shape, or form.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:59 pmSounds like this guy ambushed Allen and his entourage between events, got inappropriately close to him and asked him whether he ever spit on his ex-wife.

Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 4:44 pm
Then this was a perfect time for Allen to show us he WASN’T an asshole.
He could even have done something radical and answered the question directly.
Woops!
And by the way: EVERYONE is a constituent.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:00 pmFirst, ze attack ze opposition questioner. Next, ze blow up zee reichstag.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:00 pmHow do we know Allen “spit” on his wife, this is all a misunderstanding perpetuated by the liberal media. Allen did get bodily fluid on his wife, but it was an intimate, private moment.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:00 pmFirst of all if one of macaca’s goons put his hands on me, I’d make him the recipient of severe pain and what is it , with rightwingers they can’t seem to answer questions w/o racist comments, goon squads or staged events.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:01 pmThe guy should have put on a confederate uniform and macaca would have given him a hug.
#50 – if he’d asked that question calmly at a press event, I’m sure he wouldn’t have gotten the same response. He probably would have been ignored by Allen and asked to leave the event. Both of which are totally apprpriate for someone asking questions like that.
Problem is, it wasn’t just about the question, it was about being ambushed in a hallway by some guy who based on his question is pretty clearly a member of the radical left. Again, I’m not saying a tackle was appropriate, but let’s also not predent Stark politely raised his hand, asked a question, and got the Terry Tate treatment.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:02 pmDid he spit on his first wife? I am confused…
October 31st, 2006 at 5:04 pmAnd by the way: EVERYONE is a constituent.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:04 pmYes, I said he wasn’t JUST a “constituent trying to ask Allen a questionâ€. Please pay attention.
#38, I’m probably the only other person on this board that recognizes that reference.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:06 pmHe jumped Allen between events, got all up in his face, and asked him a ridiculous and inappropriate question.
Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 4:59 pm
And Sen Allen showed his true colors when he let his thugs loose on Mr. Stark. However inappropriate the question might have been, Sen Allen crossed the line from representative to thug.
Feel free to use this to paint the Republicans as hot-tempered bullys, but don’t be surprised when it blows up in your face.
I think Republicans are doing a fine job at that all by themselves.
Why would it blow up on anyone’s face? Man you’re weird…
October 31st, 2006 at 5:07 pmE-Bread,
Yes there are 2 sides to every story. To an extent, that dude was asking for it.
In the end I would rather bag on Allen though.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:09 pmThis thread is not about troll distraction. It is about freedom of speech, and allen just handed Webb a victory. I like that and how about a fat law suit with video evidence.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:09 pmThe guy tried to make trouble and he got his trouble shoved right up his ass.
To me it was like watching the end of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. A very satisfying ending.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:10 pmthe right……… always thinking about the butt
October 31st, 2006 at 5:13 pm#57, important distinction to make here. Allen is a Senator, Stark is a blogger. Allen is trying to get elected, stark is trying to get a big story by getting Allen to comment on an allegation. Given what has come out about Mr. Allen, does this really sound as ridiculous as it would have a year ago? How about when one considers that the divorce proceedings are sealed? Mr. Allen appeared in court twice in Ablemarle County, Virginia in the 70’s but won’t disclose what he was charged with. What about the fact that his own sister paints him as a Neanderthal who solved all arguments with beatings? Did you factor in that this blogger also asked Mr. Allen if he ever used a racial slur against African-Americans, weeks before acquaintances of Allen started saying publicly that he did?
October 31st, 2006 at 5:14 pmSatisfying endings are always a plus.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:16 pm#31 Angel – Thanks for reminding us of what a foul piece o’ feces Georgie has been, is and will always be.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:17 pm…Next, ze blow up zee reichstag.

They must have gone in reverse order because the latest American Reichstag was on 9-11-01; I’m waiting for the Reichstag that takes us into Iran. Any guesses on what it will be? Those ships doing maneuvers off the coast of Iran scream Tonkin and Maine.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:18 pmKerry lashes out after GOP furor over comments
October 31st, 2006 at 5:19 pmDeutsche Presse Agentur/RAW STORY
Senator and former presidential candidate John Kerry (D-MA) lashed out in a press conference today, stating that he would “apologize to no one” for what he contends was criticism of President George W. Bush. A video of Kerry’s remarks may be viewed below.

So George Allens Campaign now commits assaults on constituents?
Hope the Cops were called to arrest those 3 for assault. If you don’t like a person, you don’t assault him.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:20 pmHey can I get this brownshirt with a white hood attached?
-Senator Macaca
October 31st, 2006 at 5:20 pmIHL,
You show the intellectual depth and cognitive ability of someone who that when they go out to dinner with their mother and their sister that the party can be accommodated with a table for two.
Hate is a self consuming abomination and you look about all used up. Good luck to you on that.
Peace.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:21 pm#80: Anyone have a link to video of the entire thing? I’ve only seen clips of the tackle/scuffle itself, but not what led up to it.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:22 pmIf you don’t like a person, you don’t assault him.
Comment by S.D. — October 31, 2006 @ 5:20 pm
You obviously havent read your Citizen’s Handbook. Off to Gitmo you go.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:23 pm#66, TheToonGuy, no, you’re not! :-D Although my favorite Marx Brothers film is A Night at the Opera.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:25 pmOff topic, but here’s Kerry on Tony Snow’s demand for an apology:
“I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq,” rails Kerry, in the statement. “It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.”
“These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor,” the statement continues. “Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions.”
He concluded his statement, “No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”
October 31st, 2006 at 5:26 pmCornBread, why do you say that Stark “jumped” Allen? It’s not like he sprang at him out of the bushes or something. I think your choice of words there pretty much gives away your prejudice in the matter.
When word gets out that the guy Allen’s thugs wrestled to the ground is an ex-Marine who’s been willing to stand up to Hannity and O’Reilly on the phone, that’s going to look good.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:28 pmTackling may have been an overreaction, but who knows what Stark was going to do.
Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 5:17 pm
I see. Now you are casting aspersions, and unfounded speculations on what Stark was going to do.
I shouldn’t be surprised that you are all for preemptive strikes. Shoot first, ask questions later. Even if it’s obvious Mr. Stark was unarmed.
Like I said, I’d be pretty nervous/concerned if someone came up to me on the street and demanded I answer a question like that.
This was not a random question: There are allegations that Sen Allen did indeed spit on his ex-wife. Call it gossip, if you will. It was not an “unhinged” individual.
Although I don’t necessarily like asking approaching political figures and firing random questions like that (they accomplish little), I insist: Sen Allen’s response was way out of line.
If he was concerned for his security, he could have asked the police to search and (possibly) arrest Mr Stark. He didn’t. He wanted to give Mr. Stark “a lesson”, like any run-of-the-mill thug would do.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:29 pm#49, DRxJ, maybe Allen thought the question was “Did you SH*T on your first wife?”, you know, maybe it’s okay to spit on your first wife, but NOT to sh*t on her? :-)
October 31st, 2006 at 5:30 pm#85 Hi Jane….Only four months to pitchers and catchers.
Have to disagree with you….”Duck Soup” is the Marx Brothers’ masterpiece. But “A Night at the Opera” is indeed a classic.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:30 pmdoughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq,†rails Kerry, in the statement.

Damn, where was this guy in 2004? More people might have voted for him….
October 31st, 2006 at 5:30 pmAnd by the way: EVERYONE is a constituent.
Yes, I said he wasn’t JUST a “constituent trying to ask Allen a questionâ€. Please pay attention.
Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 5:04 pm
That wasn’t directed at you, and is besides the point I was making. The best argument I can find defending what Allens people did is “Well, the democrats do it.” Would you like some cheese with that whine?
To re-iterate, this was a perfect time to show people he was better than his opponent. I suppose I’m asking too much of politics.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:31 pmOxillini….these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country …Someone should remind Sen. Kerry that John McCain, who spent a heck of lot more time in Vietnam than Kerry and who has called on Kerry to apologize for his elitist insult of our troops, did indeed wear the uniform of our country.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:32 pmWassn’t stark asking him if he spits on his wife? I would throw down if someone asked me that as well.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:33 pmEvilCornbread,
Go watvh Judge Judy and learn something about what happens in our legal system when you hit someone pre-emptively.
I understand that Bush has tried to change that definition from ‘you’re wrong’ to ‘wow, cool thing to beat up on defenseless third-world shiiteholes’, but his own impending trial for war crimes will adjust that mindset…
Jesus said to turn the other cheek, yet you crazy Christians refuse… Such hypocritical losers.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:35 pmTO ALL NON-REPUBLICANS
As of today, all questioning of Republican politicians is strictly verbotten. You must only question non-Republican candidates.
Anyone caught near the shadow of a Republican politician will be charged with overthrow of government, “renditioned” to Romania or Israel for “waterboarding” and sent to Camp Delta on Gitmo for trial and execution.
Obey if you know what is good for you.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:36 pmROGER_ROGER,
October 31st, 2006 at 5:37 pmI have a real hard time believing you could throw down with anyone, but…..
that’s just my opinion
#96, he asked if he spit on his first wife. A valid, if blunt, question given that rumors are flying that he did indeed spit on her. Also he won’t comment on why the divroce proceedings are sealed or what he was charged with in Ablemarle County in the 70’s. It’s not as “way outta left field” as it sounds.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:37 pmWassn’t stark asking him if he spits on his wife? I would throw down if someone asked me that as well.

October 31st, 2006 at 5:39 pmthese republican hacks = McCain? No.
I think he’s referring to the ChickenHawks (you know, the one’s so eager for war, but who never served)
Exley, I didn’t realize McCain was also calling for an apology. I had assumed Kerry was addressing Bush, Snow and Rush. That’s what I get for assuming.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:39 pmIt was wrong, and dispicable. It was however bound to happen. After ther Republican speakers on college campuses and other genre’s were assualted, booed, jeered, things thrown at them and more, sooner or later retaliation was bound to happen. Too bad. Now you know what it’s like when your own tactics have been reacted to appropriately.
Does it make it right? Not a chance. Is it going to happen again? Probably, especially considering how liberals, and democrats act. The think it’s ok to attack Republican candidates, get in their faces, throw things, etc, and it’s getting to a point that it won’t be tolerated. If that was me,and he got in my face, i would probably take my cane, and knock his running lights out.
Quit bein so darned contentious, and start acting like human beings. You might get farther. This kind of thing stirs up people, and Democrats are going to lose MORE votes, because actions like this get attributed to democrats, and then people ask, is this what I want in office, and the person who is comfortable representing this person, is that who i want representing me?
October 31st, 2006 at 5:41 pmSlugging someone for asking a question sorta lends credance to the notion that you’ve spit on your (soon to be ex-)wife…
October 31st, 2006 at 5:41 pmTO ALL NON-REPUBLICANS
As of today, all questioning of Republican politicians is strictly verbotten. You must only question non-Republican candidates.
Anyone caught near the shadow of a Republican politician will be charged with overthrow of government, “renditioned†to Romania or Israel for “waterboarding†and sent to Camp Delta on Gitmo for trial and execution.
Obey if you know what is good for you.

October 31st, 2006 at 5:52 pmno need to apologize, Exley, as the Tigers were soundly beaten by a better “fielding” team who was definetly on a roll. Maybe next year, eh? Tigers vs. Mets!
As for the missus, hey, happy wife, happy life!
Now, Kerry’s issues are with those who are quick to criticize, but slow to serve (Bush, cheney, rumsveld). as for the apology, when taking out of context, yes, I’d be upset….but when taken in context (albeit, not proper), he was talking about Bush and his administration being “stuck in Iraq”, no apology is needed, except to clarify.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:53 pmas for the american legion, we know they are definetly anti-Kerry (as you previously proved in another thread)

October 31st, 2006 at 5:54 pm#89 – True, my choice of words is intentional, but I also think they’re accurate. He wasn’t asking the Senator a question in the normal environment to do so, the Senator was walking in a hallway between engagements and Stark interrupted him to demand an answer to a question.
If a Republican blogged did the same to Kerry or Obama I’d use the same phrasing.
#90 I see. Now you are casting aspersions, and unfounded speculations on what Stark was going to do.
Sure I am. When someone approaches me and asks me a question like that, I’m absolutely going to consider what that person is likely to do. Maybe Stark was actually polite and non-confrontational. I haven’t seen the beginning of the video (again, anyone have a link?). But my guess is that he was pretty aggressive.
Again, that doesn’t mean that tackling him was appropriate or called for. But it’s not like this was some random attack like most people here seem to be insinuating.
#97 Go watvh Judge Judy and learn something about what happens in our legal system when you hit someone pre-emptively.
There’s also such a thing as reasonable cause. Also, who made the first physical contact, Allen’s people or Stark? Do you know for sure?

I am sure there are the same problems on the other side of the table, but that doesn’t change the fact, the same screams will be heard.
What about those 1000 mail in ballots that were 80% republican in florida that were tossed away? Were they disenfranchised, and are you fighting for them too?
The whole process sux. They ought to set it up by fingerprint ID, that way people can only vote once, and if they are not registered, they don’t vote, because the vote will be automatically rejected by fingerprint analysis.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:12 pmI wholly support our Constutional Right to bear arms, for all the reasons the Founding Fathers gave for putting it in the Bill of Rights. It’s why, I think, we’re not already living in a Police State.

October 31st, 2006 at 6:26 pmI think a lot of people are too concerned with weather the republicans are going to steal the vote. It really doesn’t matter if they’ve rigged the election or not. With this much dissent, if the reps aren’t kicked out the suspicion of vote tampering will be rampant, and that will be all that’s needed to destroy all confidence in a fair voting process. It’s not a big jump from there to shooting in the street folks. This is America and we like to think of ourselves as above that, but… well let’s just say, I hope THAT particular faith turns out to be well founded.

Comment by EvilCornbread — October 31, 2006 @ 5:55 pm
You are bent on insinuating only a deranged person would ask such a question. Here it goes again: There are allegations that Sen Allen did actually spit on his ex-wife -that being one of the reasons for the divorce.
And once again, if indeed Sen Allen was concerned for his personal safety, he could have called the police. He chose to teach Mr Stark a lesson instead.
But it’s not like this was some random attack like most people here seem to be insinuating.
I cannot speak for others. I do realise Mr Stark was roughed up for something he did. My contention is that the response was not in line with the values American society pretends to espouse.
A politician tacitly or explicitly asking his entourage to physically assault a citizen, is something I would expect to happen in less developed countries, where journalists are routinely killed for asking too many questions.
But this is the sad state of affairs in modern-day USofA: Politicians don’t even pretend to be public servants anymore.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:30 pm#147….CNN is ALSO DOING A SPIN!! Mr. Stark is a blogger for the website Dailykos….which is a liberal leaning media outlet. Would it be equally ok to do this to Lou Dobbs, Wolf Blitzer. Bill O’Reily (oh that’s right Bill is their propaganda sprecialist). There are alot of annoying people in the world…..LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH, but we don’t go around throwing him to the ground!! I guess it’s only annoying if you are a Republican and if it’s the truth!!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 6:31 pm#147 YOUR NOT RANDOM AND YOU MOST CERTAINLY ARE NOT RIGHT,,,,,,BUT YOU ARE ARROGANT!!

October 31st, 2006 at 6:33 pmShit! Thngs happen, things like severed deer heads being placed in the mailbox of an African-American family. Things happen, like beating your family members and spitting in the face of a woman. Things happen, like your stupid racist ass going home with your tail between your legs after losing the election next week.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:33 pm#135: No caveats for “being interruptedâ€â€¦ Sorry, but you’ve just convinced me that you’re desperately trying to spin this event into an even more absurd claim to make yourself feel better about all the babies killed in Iraq because you supported the War on “terraâ€
Sorry to burst your little bubble of me-too-ism, but I certainly don’t support the war in Iraq.
Regarding being interrupted — I think this story on TP does far more spinning than I have in my comments. They make it sound like some innocent blogger asked a perfectly reasonable, innocent question in the normal forums for doing so and got the crap beaten out of him.
When, in fact, he was demanding an answer to an inappropriate question as the Senator was try to move between events. And from the video I’ve seen he was trying to push his way closer in to the Senator.
No. You wouldn’t.
Actually, yes, I would. I’ll thank you to not tell me what I will and will not do.
Seeing as how you didn’t watch the video… (you just said so in your post), don’t you think your speculative commentary is well, sad and pathetic?
The link wasn’t working for me earlier, but now is, and I’ve watched it. And it’s pretty clear that he was pushing his way through the aides towards the Senator and obstructing the Senator from getting to his appointment. Not worthy of a tackle, but it’s fairly clear that Stark intitiated first physical contact.
You cannot hit someone who asks you a question at an “inconvenient momentâ€. Don’t be even more ridiculous that you already are.
But you can if they’re acting sufficiently aggressive. I don’t think Stark was sufficiently aggressive for a punch, but IMO he was sufficiently aggressive to be moved out of the way so the Senator could pass.
Assuage your guilty conscience and vote Democrat.
I’ve voted Democrat for virtually every position I’ve encountered on a ballot. And all the major (mayor/governon/senator/representative/president) ones. Sorry I don’t instantly agree with you on all fronts.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:35 pm#151: And once again, if indeed Sen Allen was concerned for his personal safety, he could have called the police
I’ll remember that the next time I’m mugged. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind waiting until the police showed up. :-)
My contention is that the response was not in line with the values American society pretends to espouse.
Fair enough. I just wish this site would accurately describe the encounter and not paint Stark as such an innocent bystander.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:39 pm#141, I am very happy you are pleased with yourself. Simple people are easily amused, and you have demonstrated that remarkably.
October 31st, 2006 at 6:41 pm(whoops, dropped two letters from name in previous post)

As to the matter at hand, Allen is a knob, but Stark had it coming. ‘Had it coming’ doesn’t mean that the tackling was all OK, but then, ‘Allen is a knob’.

October 31st, 2006 at 6:55 pmApparently we need to teach our children differently……sticks and stones will break your bones….and if someone calls you a name…YOU ATTACK HIM!! I’ve heard that there are “several Republican strategists” who say Bush is running the party into the ground and this is nothing but another lame straw-man issue.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:08 pmCNN has been pumping out their propaganda for the last 7 days with 2 hour specials every night. No one should be surprised with 74%. Conservatives don’t waste their time clicking on these types of polls. The only polls that will matter will be the ones they are voting at next Tuesday. The dems should have it but you can’t argue that this was a significant mistake by Kerry. It’s just too funny. Loving it.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:08 pm#169….Hey, Peejay, don’t get riled up at me…It’s not my fault your party’s leader stirred up this controversy and knocked the Dems off message by saying that U.S. troops in Iraq are lazy, stupid, and uneducated…Take your anger out on him. He was a loser in 2004 and he may have hurt the Dems again big time in 2006.
Oh, and Peejay, you really should know better than to think an Internet survey has any validity. But it IS telling that Kerry’s insult is the story of the day. That’s what people of talking about…Bad, bad day for the Dems.
Okay, gotta go.

That statement fits the neocontrolls here to a T.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:18 pmAll Kerry did was tell the unvarnished truth – no shame in that, and no one that matters will hold it against him. Wishful thinkin there, Ex, but they ain’t no spinnin this one to advantage of the party of the pachyderm….gutsy attempt though, chachi.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:25 pmNote the impact on Tradesports: very bad for Allen. Here’s a link to a nice map of the Senate data. Just click on Virginia to see the big shift from R victory to D victory!

October 31st, 2006 at 7:26 pmMy fourth and fifth graders don’t even act like this. How pathetic!
October 31st, 2006 at 7:27 pmThe GOP is hoping that the scandal going around Washington the next few days before the election will be Kerry’s remarks which they took out of context. The GOP is the one party that hates and spits upon our troops. They believe that troops with PTSD should suck it up and return to Iraq to serve in their war for war profiteering. They believe that VA hospitals are a waste of money while tax cuts and breaks to the ultra-rich and corporations are perfectly acceptable. The real scandal should be how the GOP constantly gets Ds and Fs from Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:30 pmExely or is it exlax??? I am not too worried about your statements….I can see by the bulk of the responses in the forum that most people here dismiss your comments…AS IRRELEVANT!! Which leads me to believe that you just like to ramble and cause problems!! The interesting thing about Lou Dobbs is that many of the viewers are CONSERVATIVE LIKE YOURSELF. Now, how is it that 2100 liberals showed up to watch Lou Dobbs and take this poll??? Not believe in polls per se….although Republicans are quick to enspouse polls, when the numbers are in THEIR FAVOR.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:39 pm[...] see the video of Mike Stark Attacked from Senator Allen’s people assaulted him, put him in a headlock. [...]

Kerry is a friggin idiot. Even the Dem strategists are acknowledging what a dumbass thing to do. Some though are trying to spin it. It won’t work.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:59 pmBen – you’re stupid. Kerry told the truth, and you don’t like it – go cry to your mommy, wuss.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:01 pm#176 ExLax
It’s not my fault your party’s leader stirred up this controversy and knocked the Dems off message
Oh man, that’s too funny. Such desperation. Getting down to the wire, and the desperate are grasping at straws trying to find something, ANYTHING, to help them distract the public from the horrid reality of 12 years of Republican majority and 6 years of Republican theocratic dynastic stranglehold.
Won’t work, Ex. The smears might have helped beat Kerry two years ago, but guess what, he ain’t the guy running right now. You better find someone who’s actually running for office to work the smear.
Besides, Kerry seems to have learned a thing or two about how to fight back. Or, as the chimp would say, “You can fool some of the people… you can… uhhh… ya fool ya can’t be fooled again! (smirk, headbob)”
October 31st, 2006 at 8:02 pm189
I read the openletter from Mike, yes, please file charges against these neocon goons, Mike.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:05 pmHey Tommy Boy….if you listen to the tape there was not much laughter after his attempt at a joke. It was more like “Oh shit”. They knew. Kerry is a moron, again.
You keep thinking it means nothing though. You’re the dumbass he was trying to talk about.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:08 pmI’m not your mommy Ben – try again, little soldier.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:25 pmSigh. It is a lost cause.
By the way, the ad hominem attack CRAZY CHRISTIANS…. Don’t you think that might be a tiny bit offensive to people like PLC and others. Progressive is not necessarily equated with athiest. But then again, you have your free will, so continue to do as you please.
Your clothes must be absolutely filthy as much as you roll on the floor laughing. How do you find time to sit up and type?
October 31st, 2006 at 8:29 pmAquiet – if all who called themselves “Christians” lived as PLC, there would be no ad hominum attacks on “crazy Christians.” PLC knows we respect his/her beliefs. I believe s/he is as saddened as most of us at how some people cloak themselves in a false coat of Christianity.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:37 pmYou all make good points. I shall retreat back into my lurking hole. Thanks for listening.

Actually, I just heard prominent GOP pollster Mathew Dowd say just the opposite on Hardball. Read the preceding paragraph; it’s clear he was referring to Bush.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:06 pmI’m actually a prick. I live alone because no one else can stand being around me.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:06 pmLets face it. The Senator and his people were easily scared by anyone suddenly approaching them, for good reason.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:07 pmIs it just me, or does Happy Guy really not seem all that happy?
October 31st, 2006 at 9:08 pmWhat’s got Ben so freaked out is the fact that the elections going against republicans even though democrats haven’t stated a clear policy – indicating Americans want both change, and accountability for the past Congress’ mistakes.
Expect more desperate flailing in the days to come.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:10 pmWhoever’s stealing Ben’s name, stop it. His comments need no comic relief.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:20 pm#207 – Yeah Ben, right. Tell me, just who are the Dem strategists? You can’t name a one of um. Did Karl Rover send you that talking point memo and tell you what to say and how to think? Keep talking about it. This story will keep Iraq in the news which is a big time loser for the repugs. Your party has no cred – and deservably so. They are desperate and it shows.
Oh, and looks like Jim Webb has surged ahead of Allen. Any wonder?
Truth to power baby, truth to power.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Congratulations, and we are here for you in this difficult time in your life.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:24 pmDear Zooey – No, I think Happy Guy is very happy – looking in face of “stark” reality is something conservatives can be HAPPY about. Let’s examine a few facts. IF the House should go to the Dems, they will in NO WAY be able to enact ANY of their social, military, or foreign policies. The Senate will need to concur as a bill is written or send it for a conference report. Should they want to do anything tooo stupid, GWB could start wielding the power of the VETO.
George Allen’s comment of this kind of stuff “happens” is kind of like knowing the difference between a solid policy difference and a Kos-wannbe trying to make a name for his stark self. This kind of stuff happens all the time – recall the WTO and IMF riots and then get back to us.
But you really have to be elated with the Senator “Flipper” Kerry – now there’s a man who really knows how to tell a joke!!!!
Happy Halloween! (This is your High Holy Day isn’t it?)
October 31st, 2006 at 9:33 pmIt was wrong, and dispicable. It was however bound to happen. After ther Republican speakers on college campuses and other genre’s were assualted, booed, jeered, things thrown at them and more, sooner or later retaliation was bound to happen. Too bad. Now you know what it’s like when your own tactics have been reacted to appropriately.
Comment by Douglas+G.
Unfortunately for those “reputhugican speakers” CNN news cameras weren’t rolling, as they were here. And what it shows is a constituent who is assualted before he even asks a question, and then, when he is, they almost slam his head into a metal window railing. Just imagine what would have happened if his head was one inch closer to that railing and he didn’t get up after he hit it. Their actions were not “appropriate” as you described, but something you would expect from the barbaric guards of a dicator, or in the court yard of a prison. The perps who did this one are definitely eligible for some jail-time, and mike should be receiving a very nice award in civil court as well.
As for your last comment. This incident is more likely to be a DEATH BLOW to Allen’s campaign, because the people watching this on tv are going to attribute those thugs actions to Allen (whose buttons they were wearing) and no sane person is going to vote for someone who has wild thugs like that working for him, who practically kill a man for trying to ask a question.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:36 pmOMG! these Allen brutes sure don’t remind me of good christians, they behave more like street thugs.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:40 pmWas it Brazillian, that’s funny.

Thanks, dear.

About the last thing the United States ought to be doing in Iraq is funneling weapons into black-market weapons bazaars, as sectarian militias arm themselves for civil war. Yet that is just what Washington may have been doing for the past several years, thanks to an inexplicable decision that standard Pentagon regulations for registering weapons transfers did not apply to the Iraq war.

October 31st, 2006 at 9:53 pmKerry didn’t lose 370,000 weapons in Iraq that are being used to shoot our soldiers like Bushco has. Iwill enjoy watching YOU squirm, worm.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:55 pmThe National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.
“As a constituent of Senator Kerry’s I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged,” said National Commander Paul A. Morin. “A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn’t true then and his warped view of today’s heroes isn’t true now.”
ROTFL
I guess the SOLDIERS don’t believe Kerry the LIAR.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:58 pmNo, but Kerry would want terrorists that were taken off the battlefield to have an attorney present during interrogation.

October 31st, 2006 at 10:03 pmApparently not the non story you think it is blying.
On ABC news:
What’s unclear is if Kerry’s comments will help rally Republican voters or help their party portray Democrats as against the troops to score victories next Tuesday. A Democratic congressman told ABC News Tuesday, “I guess Kerry wasn’t content blowing 2004, now he wants to blow 2006, too.”
ROTFL….blying…Kerry is a LIAR…..

October 31st, 2006 at 10:06 pmlemme see Ben, Paul Bremer lost 8 billion in Iraq and now Bushco has lost track of some 370,000 weapons. I would say that Kerry is not an issue when it comes to the safety our troops…Jane Fonda pales in comparison to these facts I have posted.

October 31st, 2006 at 10:14 pmFrom Boston:
BOSTON — The mother of a local Marine who was killed in Iraq spoke out Tuesday about the comments that Sen. John Kerry made about U.S. troops and education.
NewsCenter 5’s Jim Boyd reported Tuesday that while talking to a group of students in California, Kerry urged them to study hard or else they can “get stuck in Iraq.”
“I am very disturbed. I am very insulted and very sad that he doesn’t understand how highly educated and well trained our military men and women are,” said Debra Booth, whose son was killed in Iraq.
Second Lt. Joshua Booth died on Oct. 17. His mother said that what makes Kerry’s words so offensive is that they come one day after Kerry called the family to offer condolences.
“We did appreciate the call. I am appreciative of anyone who reaches out to me and to then turn around and say something that is so totally incorrect,” Booth said.
As to whether Kerry should apologize, Booth said that Kerry needs to do more to make amends.
“In addition to apologizing, he needs to learn a little bit about what our men and women in the military are actually made up of,” Booth said. “We don’t want to send that kind of signal, that you only go into the military if you are not good at anything.”
KERRY THE LIAR… hey I was just joking , really!!!
ROTFL
October 31st, 2006 at 10:14 pmBen’s frantic. But if you read the paragraph which precedes the offending line, it’s clear Kerry was referring to Bush. Mathew Dowd, prominenet GOP pollster said it would be dead in a news cycle. Even he admitted that it was absurd to think Kerry would insult 140000 soldiers a week away from a national election.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:16 pmYeh it’s sad the Dems can’t raise as much money for smear and lie campaigns as the corrupt scanlon wackos!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:16 pmBen – John Kerry has HATED the military and it’s troops since he had to mingle his blue-blood with the blue-collars in Viet Nam. His lying, vicious account before Congress doesn’t surprise anyone who has heard his ill-timed comments recently. Thank you, Mr. Heinz!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:18 pmBush lost his credibility when he dissed Sheehan and other mothers who lost sons in bushes crazy neo-con war.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:18 pmHEY BOO….Remember Kerry the LIAR saying:
They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.
Yeah well KERRY the LIAR is at it again….supporting the troops.

October 31st, 2006 at 10:26 pmOh and let’s not forget this Kerry top hit:
“And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the–of–the historical customs, religious customs.”
KERRY the LIAR…the troops love em.

Comments ( Page 1 of 5 > » ):
John Kerry is an idiot. Democrat leaders should yank out his tongue so he can never, ever speak again. He is now the story of the day. Bill Bennett has already bloviated on CNN, Fox has a panel discussion, Limbaugh spent at least the first hour of his show on it, and McCain has called for an apology. You can bet the farm that Hannity and O’Reilly will be all over it.
Even worse, Kerry will fight back this time to show he wasn’t really a wimp when they Swift Boated him, and this story will go on for days. Years of work trying to improve Democrats image with the military down the drain.
This is the October Surprise and Democrats did it to themselves. Damn John Kerry!

and THIS is why the rethugicans are failing so bad. They DO NOT HESITATE to attack the mother of dead soilder. They DO NOT HESITATE to attack a Parkinsons victim. They DO NOT HESITATE to attack & assault a constituent who wants to ask his candidate a question. You just don’t get it. These people all around the country see this and ask “what if I have a question?”…”what if I want to speak about something that affects me?”…..what if I want to contribute to a cause dedicated to someone I lost?”……They will ALWAYS follow up with one more question…”will the republicans do this to me?”….and it is the answer to that which absolutely guarantees a very strong Democratic vote.
In fact, who knows how many have asked these questions after reading YOUR comment. mighty+aphrodite – you might want to consider showing a more mature and respectable attitude.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:03 pmForLie, apparently you have a short memory. Ask Bush 41 what happens when a report is released 4 days before an election. Ask Bush what happens when a DUI report surfaces days before an election. Ask Kerry what happens when an OBL video surfaces days before an election.
We’ll see…personally I think its just what they think. REP – Senate DEM – HR’s.
It’s been great fun.
Gotta go so I can be ready to earn all that tax money that supports the freeloaders amongst you.
PS…The Kerry thing is gonna makes this a squeaker and you guys know it.
Good night BOO….good night blying….good night Forlie.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:03 pmya mean your not gonna defend my list of GOPerverts?
well hell good nite then Ben, have a few drinks, it’s okay, even Noah passed out drunk now and then =)

Actually, it’s mine. There’s a lot of Celtic traditions still present in contemporary Hallowe’en celebrations. It would be a good night for another Rune for you, Mighty Afraudite…the veil between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead is said to be thinnest at midnight tonight.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:10 pmAs is the veil between awake and asleep. My dog often barks at that exact moment.=0]
October 31st, 2006 at 11:14 pmLOL!
Yeh but I was just getting warmed up, mebbe I pulled out the ‘list’ too early Jaaaa!!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:16 pmthe list is like cryptonite to bush trolls!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:17 pm#288 – “Dear trolls. This Kerry “issue’ is all you got? It’s not gonna change 10 votes.
Keep trying…you may come up with something by next wednesday…”
*********Dear RU484 – You’re absolutely right – the jokester Kerry and his hoof in mouth disease, is not going to change 10 votes – HERE. A Prog/closed mind is incapable of opening. But a moderate mom or dad whose kid is serving MAY have a different idea. The oonly thing that could shift the Kerry gaffe away is for Dem Congressional leaders to denounce Mr. Heinz remarks – but since most of the country is ware that Dem leaders generally loathe the military, that might be a tad difficult to believe….
Dear firefighterJOE – (I thought firefighter was the more sensitive and politically correct term) – Cindy Sheehan had my complete sympathy UNTIL she denigrated the memory of her dear son who volunteered for service twice. Her new BFF, Hugo Chavez is siding with our Middle Eastern enemies and you want me to show HER respect? She is a disgrace to every fallen soldier.
As for the “question” Mr. Stark wanted to ask – about spitting on Allen’s wife?? I guess the answer to that is very important to progs. Yeah, I can see where that would really illuminate Allen’s position on an issue…..
October 31st, 2006 at 11:23 pmMighty Afraudite,
Three Runes came out for you at one time, although I only intended to draw one.
Again, the message from the Universe is
Ken: Reversed.
Unfortunately, it is not:
The next Rune is Ice:
The Third and Final Rune is Tyr: Struggle: Reversed
A Three Rune spread typically represents past, present and future. Ken:Reversed has already been revealed to you some time ago. Ice is the present. If you do not change course, Tyre:Reversed will be your future. Such is the message for you from the Universe as revealed in the Celtic Runes on Hallowe’en.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:30 pmAnd if he spit on you?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:30 pmbut since most of the country is ware that Dem leaders generally loathe the military, that might be a tad difficult to believe…. MA
Let’s ask the Generals that are lined up to vote Dem and see how they take it?

October 31st, 2006 at 11:36 pmbutt seriously, from a non political view no man should ever spit on a woman, why MA chooses to back a person that does, simply because of political association is nuts. The party of Jesus now allows men to spat upon a woman?
really MA wtf?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:38 pmJust watch the video. The idiot pushed past more than one of the guards in an attempt to confront Allen. He physically brushed his body against the men. That is a very aggressive move, and even if there was not a political candidate or VIP involved, this type of behavior can get yourself roughed up by testosterone fueled males.
It kinda reminded me of a good NBA game. And he only got his feelings bruised. No blood, no foul, as they say.

November 1st, 2006 at 12:04 amWe could talk about the allegations of wife-spitting and Senator Allen or we could talk about Senator Kennedy’s love of cocaine, booze and women other than his wife. Which would you rather discuss??
Good night, precious progs…..
November 1st, 2006 at 12:07 amThe crazy path to bush armageddon of course!!
November 1st, 2006 at 12:10 amBen, Ben, Ben….
It is the ultimate of twisting-in-the-wind desperation that the best the Republicans can do is to take aim at Democrats who aren’t even running for office. Today it’s Kerry, other times Clinton, Gore…. I mean, not only are these guys not running for any offices, they are not currently HOLDING any office.
The Republican incumbants who ARE running for office are a key part of a corrupt and bankrupt system that is systematically raping our treasury, killing our servicemen, slaughtering Iraqis, destroying our Constitution, wrecking our international standing, nurturing the atmostphere for the proliferation of nukes by rogue states, losing sleep over what consenting adults do in their bedrooms, allowing bin Laden to live, and permitting the fondling of our youth in their care.
In the face of these monstrous policy failures, the best your side can do is to try to make hay out of one flubbed comment in one speech by one Democrat is is not in office or running for office… how absurd can you get? One day it’s grade school taunts like “Don’t you want us to win?” or “Cut and run!” That falls on its lame face, so the next day it’s “Lurch needs to apologize!!”
This stuff is coming from Rove, and for some reason he’s considered a genius? Rove’s team won the first time because people were fatigued by Clinton scandals (over-hyped mini-scandals at best), and because nobody knew yet what a liar Mr. Compassionate Conservative really was. Even then, Rove’s team lost the actual vote count by a half million votes. Rove’s team won the second time thanks to the backdraft of the world’s worst ever terrorist attack on top of the world’s most disingenuous smear campaign.
Well, Rove’s got nothing left in the bag, does he? Clinton is long gone, Kerry is no longer willing to be a pin cushion, and Bush’s lies and basic pathologies have been exposed so clearly and for so long that only the most brainwashed dittoheads still buy the story. All that’s left is Rove’s “genius”, which rises approximately to the level of “I know you are, but what am I?”
Newsflash for ya, Ben: Kerry does not appear on my ballot, so even if I was incensed by his flubbed line as you seem to think I should be, I’m not voting for him anyway. I am, however, voting for Democrats who are actually on the ballot, so that people like you can finally be put out of our collective misery.
‘Night.
November 1st, 2006 at 1:48 amPrevious post – pardon, I was thinking Kerry was no longer in the Senate. Doesn’t matter, though, the point still stands. The favorite targets of the Reps are not even running in the election next week.
November 1st, 2006 at 2:14 am[...] Think Progress has posted a video from CNN of Senator Allen’s cronies assaulting a constituent that tried to ask the senator a question he presumably did not like. I hope the voters of VA keep these images in mind when they vote on Tuesday – a man being assaulted by a senator’s henchmen for an exercise of free-speech. I knew that the Republicans wanted to get rid of free speech, habeas corpus, the right to privacy and other human rights, but damn. I thought they would stick to voting those rights away, but now they’re also tackling. [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 2:16 amFriggin loving it. You guys are so stupid you can’t even keep a gimmie election.
Comment by Ben — October 31, 2006 @ 6:49 pm
Is Kerry on the RNC Payroll? I’m beginning to wonder.
November 1st, 2006 at 5:30 amThe public is expected to attend public events, as was Allen’s. If a member of the public asks/shouts a question then so be it. Allen staff members were out of line when they blocked his way, let alone putting hands on him. They should be charged with assault, plain and simple.
If Allen wishs to screen his audience as does our little woodenhead president then he should expend his campaign funds to reserve a facility and issue tickets to the event.
November 1st, 2006 at 7:27 amthe bigger point is the way CNN handled this story–calling the guy a “protester” In fact it’s down right scary that they are so willing to report this in such a blase “it didn’t look like anyone was actually INJURED” way. As if it’s ok to ruff someone up for asking a question as long as you don’t injure them–sort of like the logic that you can waterboard someone as long as you don’t actually drown them.
November 1st, 2006 at 9:06 am[...] Virginia police are investigating and trying to determine the names of the staffers for Sen. George Allen (R-VA) who physically accosted blogger Mike Stark yesterday at a campaign event. [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 9:18 amBen – John Kerry has HATED the military and it’s troops since he had to mingle his blue-blood with the blue-collars in Viet Nam. His lying, vicious account before Congress doesn’t surprise anyone who has heard his ill-timed comments recently. Thank you, Mr. Heinz!!!
Comment by mighty+aphrodite — October 31, 2006 @ 10:18 pm
MA, just because you’re leaving out the extraneous punctuation marks doesn’t make any comment you post any less of a lie, and this one is just more lying bullshit.
November 1st, 2006 at 10:22 amThe man is a thug, a bully, and a coward. It is hardly surprising that he surrounds himself with such.
November 1st, 2006 at 10:22 amStark wasn’t “jumping” Allen, he was approaching him to ask a question. The people that assaulted Stark will be arrested or turn themselves in to authorities shortly.
Sen. Allen is a deep cover plant by the Democratic Party.
Sen. Kerry is spittin’ mad, and the GOP shoots itself in the foot again because they didn’t even get the reference to Bush, a Yale legacy.
You know. Wasted education? Stuck in Iraq? Is this starting to become clearer to those unable to GET IT.
November 1st, 2006 at 11:24 am#341 – JS, thank you for your thoughts. “Lying bullshit”? Of course, John Kerry was soooooo highly regarded by members of the military (including my brother) that they flocked to vote for him in ‘04. Ohhhh….they didn’t vote for Kerry by an overwhelming margin???? So, I guess those members of the military (past and present) are not surprised by what comes out of Mr. Heinz’ head. FYI Mr. Heinz: If you want to stay in the same rut – keep digging.
You seem a a bit touchy today – Midol or Pamprin might help…..
November 1st, 2006 at 11:24 amMA, you’re lying about Kerry’s testimony and his ‘hate for the military.’
Ask members of the military today what they think of Bush and his total FUBAR handling of Iraq. It’s a mess, and you know it.
Go shove a midol or pamprin up your ass, is this the only response you can give when I tell you you’re a liar? I’m tired of your crap, so this is about as polite as you’ll get from me.
November 1st, 2006 at 11:54 am[...] • A ROUND OF BOOS to Virginia Senator George Allen and his minions for their mishandling of a situation in which a constituent attempted to confront Allen with a pointed question about how he treated his first wife. Before this exchange could take place, though, the man was wrestled to the ground and forced to leave the premises. Later on, the Senator blithely commented that “things like that happen.†Really, where? Maybe in the insular fascistic world of George Allen. more and more… [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 12:16 pmStark is “acting like an a-hole”?
How? By questioning his Senator? A Senator is not his MASTER, but his EMPLOYEE. He was trying to conduct a job performance review.
And guess what? Allen failed the review. He needs to be fired. And have criminal charges of assault brought against him.
November 1st, 2006 at 12:22 pm#345 Jane…OUCH! I’ve never seen you so mad!
November 1st, 2006 at 1:08 pmHi, Exley! Sorry, I’m just tired of her lies and strawman arguments, etc. (Not that I’m a Kerry fan, even before this I was hoping he’s not planning to run in ‘08.) Then the same old midol/pamprin bullshit. Women do get pissed off for reasons that have nothing to do with the time of month, you know!:-)
November 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pm#348 No need to say “sorry” to me, Jane….I was just surprised (and amused) to see you get so riled up! You’re usually so calm….
Curtis Martin out for the season…Not surprising, but I thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t see it.
November 1st, 2006 at 1:57 pmIf you spent time in the jungle, you can be part of this discussion, and you’ve earned the right to speak your piece. Chickenhawks are not on the varsity team and have not earned the respect of those who did go “Over There”. So you little girls, go find your pom-poms and have Smirkey show you a few new cheers….You clowns are pathetic and each of you would shit in your mess kits if you had to do what our wonderful kids are doing now in Iraq. Stay the course, my ass….jump up my ass
November 1st, 2006 at 1:57 pmNo, I missed that, Exley. Dammit! The curse of being a Jets fan.
Actually, I can get even more ‘riled up’, but I’ve got meds for that. I don’t think that even Wayne has seen me at my worst. I used to get along better with MA, she was really very nice and empathetic to me when I had mentioned my parents’ deaths, so I used to make an effort to be at least polite, if not outright pleasant to her. But these days she’s just annoying.
November 1st, 2006 at 2:41 pm#352, I understand….Some people just rub others the wrong way (Take Mark Foley with a page, for example..Hey OH!)….Believe me, there are some people here who irritate me….And, Jane, I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t one or two people who find me annoying (I know that sounds crazy, but I bet it’s true!)….I personally have no problem with M.A. Her and I seem to be on the same page politically…
I am sorry to hear about your parents.
More bad news for New York Mets/Jets fans:
NEW YORK — New York Mets relief pitcher Guillermo Mota was suspended 50 games Wednesday for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy. His suspension will take effect for the start of the 2007 season.
November 1st, 2006 at 4:15 pm50 GAMES? Wow! I never really cottoned to him (think Piazza), so I probably won’t miss him.
My parents died about 3 weeks apart at the end of 2004. My brother, sister, sister-in-law, Wayne, and I all had to take turns nursing my mum for several months, then dad just started fading, too, so we had to take care of him. Sucked out loud. (I told you we buried him with his JETS fleece throw, right?) As I said, MA was very sympathetic and nice, then. But, hey, these are the times that try men’s souls, right?
November 1st, 2006 at 5:15 pm#355 Three weeks apart? Oh gosh, that’s rough…I’m sorry, Jane. Yes, you have mentioned the JETS fleec earlier. That was a sweet gesture. I’m sure he appreciates it.
Okay, Jane…I am taking off. Have a good night and say “hi” to Wayne for me.
November 1st, 2006 at 5:23 pmI’ll talk to you tomorrow, Exley. Thanks for the condolences.
November 1st, 2006 at 5:28 pm[...] Think Progress posted this little tidbit in their “Corrupt Establishment” section: Stark is not, as CNN reported, a “protester.†He is a constituent who was trying to ask Allen a question [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 8:21 pmMike Stark– I am a graduate of Albany Law School and Mike was a waiter in a Restaurant named Avenue A. He’s bright{ by his statement !76 in the LSAT]. I preface this comment by saying I am a lifelong active Democrat and I do prefer a change in both the Senate and House. Back to Stark, as a waiter, he reveled in stories of challenging Sean Hannity. It got to the point that I asked the owner not to have him as our waiter. At 39, he was over the top, and, if he truly earned a 176 in the LSATs, the test should suffer scrutiny across the board. Passion in what you believe is one thing. Intentional provacation for 15 minutes of fame is another matter. Sen. Allen has his issues to defend as does Mr. Webb. What I find deplorable, notwithstanding my great desire to see the Senate and House return Democratic, is to witness a provaceteur such as Stark try to influence the decisions of Virginians in this pivotal race. And, as a lifelong Democrat with 31 years in the NYS Legislature and in Albany politics I condemn the antics of Stark. Marks and LSATs are not the only criteria that Law Schools, great and otherwise, should use as as gifts of opportunity. Allen’s security people were wrong and played right into this” brilliant” buffoons hands. I give permission to use this mail only if it is cited in the entirety.
November 2nd, 2006 at 12:40 am[...] I’m attending a spiritual retreat in Alabama this weekend. As I have never really traveled in the south at all, and since I detest flying (I always get sick, and the first few days after the flight my head feels like it’s under water), I decided to drive. I left this morning from Long Island and got into Roanoke, VA around 10pm tonight. It’s odd that I’m driving through all the areas where the nasty battles are happening. As I exited I-495 around Washington and hit I-66, traffic basically stopped, so I decided to take a local road to try to bypass the traffic jam. On the sides of the road were George Allen signs and Jim Webb signs. Tomorrow I’m heading to Tennessee, home of the Corker/Ford battle. Here in Roanoke, there’s an Allen or Webb television ad at virtually every commercial break. There’s also lots of talk about one of Allen’s constituents who was attacked by Allen personnel when he tried to ask the Senator about his sealed police record regarding his first wife and whether or not he spit on her.
