In an interview on C-Span, First Lady Laura Bush was asked about Michael J Fox’s advocacy for candidates who support embryonic stem cell research. Mrs. Bush responded that it was wrong for Fox and others to suggest that increased support for embryonic stem cell research could lead to cures for Alzheimer’s and other diseases.
She concluded with a thinly veiled critique of Fox: “It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult.” Watch it:
Transcript:
Q: One of the issues that’s come up. Michael J. Fox. The whole issue of stem cell research. Your reaction to the events of the past week.
LAURA BUSH: Well, I don’t have any idea about any of those. I mean, I’ve watch on television just like you have. But the fact is President Bush is the only president that authorized funding for stem cell research. And, um, you know, it’s an issue that it’s easy to try to manipulate people’s feelings about and I understand that. My dad died of Alzheimer’s. You know, there’ s nothing I’d like more than to think there was a cure for Alzheimer’s. Especially before I get to be the age he is, but knowing also how he suffered. It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult.
You know, because her husband would never manipulate feelings such as fear, terror or xenophobia.
October 31st, 2006 at 9:54 amshe can count herself lucky her stepford-wife wiring didn’t malfunction as she was speaking… imagine an endless loop of “before i get to the age he is,” “before i get to the age he is,” before i get to the age he is…”
And, yes, I DO take it personally
October 31st, 2006 at 9:54 amHmmmmmmmmm…Can we look forward to Laura getting Alzheimer’s? I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy…well, Maybe Her moronic Husband!
October 31st, 2006 at 9:55 amAnd conservatives have the nerve to call Hillary an insensitive woman !!
October 31st, 2006 at 9:58 amIf the Bush administration was sincere, they would work to reduce the amount of sexually transmitted diseases that run rampant throughout our country.
I was absolutely astounded to find out that the government is now touting “Abstinence Only” for adults from the ages of 20 thru 29. It sounds like a joke, but it’s not, and of course, no mention of contraceptives or any other viable method of reducing sexually transmitted diseases except complete abstinence from sex, even for adults.
This demonstrates the religious-right has far too much power over Bush and Washington – and if we don’t stop them soon, I’d guess the “Morality Police” will one day emerge from this government that appears to have lost all semblances of sanity in their attempts to push their puritan morals on the rest of America!
Now the government touts no sex for Adults!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:01 amOh, those feelings of people are just so easily manipulated! Grief of 9/11 or Fear of the elusive and undetectable foe. If only they would just be manipulated to what we want them to be!!

Let’s hear it for the Bush Sadministration… they take it easy.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:06 amWhat do you expect? She’s been blowing a little dope.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:09 amPrevious presidents did not have the opportunity to authorize spending for stem-cell research, so it is disingenuous to claim her husband is the only one – it’s not a lie, but it is not the truth either.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:09 amThere she is, the Stepford wife, smiling as she insults MJF. She is popular because she plays her role well, but behind her smile is a person no better than the scumbag she married and his rotten family.
What does it take for these political animals to have compassion – I don’t think they are capable.
How does this bag know that Embryonic Stem Cells Reseach could not cure diseases like Parkinson, Alzheimer, etc? Does she have a crystal ball? Her jerk husband vetl the Stem Cell Bill. She is a liar.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:15 amSo, it was OK for our country to spend BILLIONS of dollars and THOUSANDS of lives, without research, to try to force democracy on Iraq? It sure is easy to manipulate people’s feelings (fear, patriotism, religious fervor), especially when you don’t give a d*** about truth.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:16 amdude
I didn’t know George was on the show.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:18 am#8 – Don’t forget her history of being a murderer!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:19 amThey obviously are terrified of Fox’s message to be sending St. Laura out to attack him. Luckily for them she is irony challenged and shameless. (Looks like she’s had one too many facelifts too.)
October 31st, 2006 at 10:19 amWell, PLC, you must keep in mind that this administration is all about a “Culture of Life!” I just haven’t figured out which ones yet.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:21 am‘It’s Always Easy To Manipulate People’s Feelings’
Well, Laura would know plenty about that.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:22 amHer rambling makes no sense. She’s being a good Botox Bride and stumping for the referendum on bush that lynne said doesn’t exist.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:24 amNo compassion coming from these flip flopping compassionate conservatives. So where is Nancy Reagan? Is she sick or did they silence her somehow?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:25 am#8. That’s a good one.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:25 am“It’s Always Easy to Manipulate People’s Feelings,” which is my primary function, says the shiny new LauraBot2007. Released early!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:28 am#7 (Technodaoist) nails it. The hypocrisy of her comment is mindblowing.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:29 amOff topic: Why do taxpayers pay for the President to stump for his party and his buddies? He delivered a speech yesterday (again) announcing that only Republicans can protect yoiu from the boogeyman. A vote for a democrat is like asking terrorists to come to your house and kill your family. Seriously, that annoys me that my tax dollars support that. I’m not saying Clinton didn’t do some of this, but I’m really getting fed up to the point that I think the RNC better start reimbursing the Federal government for renting Air Force One and the President. Same holds true when the DNC does this after 2008.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:30 amIt’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult.
Diseases like religious fundamentalism, no?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:30 amIf the world is coming to an end why do these people care?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:30 amI wonder if stem cells can bring back to life the person Laura killed when she was driving drunk?
Oh, yeah — like we haven’t heard worse over the last few months from the repukes running for their lives for the next week…
October 31st, 2006 at 10:31 amindeed… as it was easy to have a young girl in a Bush ‘04 ad… she lost a parent on 9/11, and said that she knew George Bush would keep her safe… if that’s not manipulating emotions I don’t know what is…
October 31st, 2006 at 10:32 amYes, Laura, it’s easy when to manipulate people’s feelings when you have a disease that will destroy your life. It’s called having creditability. You see, you and your sweet brainless hubby do not possess any creditablity. So, in that respect, it guess it’s just not fair is it?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:33 amyou must keep in mind that this administration is all about a “Culture of Life!†I just haven’t figured out which ones yet. Comment by oxillini
The High Life (vs. all those other “low lifes”)
October 31st, 2006 at 10:33 amThis year’s Republican campaign rhetoric should be used in Political Science classes for what the physical manifestation of desperation looks like.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:34 amI bet Laura would be more supportive of embryonic stem cell research if it could cure death by head-on collision…
October 31st, 2006 at 10:35 amSomehow to this cold hearted creature MJF is a manipulator of feelings and not someone who is actually suffering and wants funding to find a cure. Someone should turn around and say how Jesus was only out to manipulate us into worshiping him with all that torture crucifixion crown of thorns stuff.
It takes a very sad individual to “love” and “care” for someone they read about in a book than someone suffering right in front of them. This is what they call the “Religious-Right”.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:35 amPLC, ahh the High Life, the Champagne of Beers. I’ll be toasting a few on November 8th!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:35 amWhy do you have a picture of The Joker up there? Oh sorry it’s a prescription pill addicted closet smoker who dressers like a wal-mart greeter not The Joker?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:35 amMaybe that should be culture of birth. The GrOPes only care about life from the time of conception to the time of birth. After that they do not care about that life.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:36 amShe manipulates my feelings of disgust and loathing every time she opens her mouth.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:36 amDemocratic campaign ad:
Laura Bush: “It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings”
Cut to any Republican smear ad clip, such as the “terrorists are out there” kind.
Narrator: “Yes, it’s easier to manipulate people’s feelings than have rational ideas…Vote Democrat.”
October 31st, 2006 at 10:37 amNice picture . . . . looks like the wicked witch.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:39 amWell once her divorce is final we won’t have to listen to her anymore.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:39 amYou know, because her husband would never manipulate feelings such as fear, terror or xenophobia.
Comment by oxillini — October 31, 2006 @ 9:54 am
Amen!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:39 amoxillini
I’ll be toasting as well, but with a glass (OK, a bottle or two) of Reisling wine – tastes great, less filling. A toast for a new Democratic Governor and a new Democratic U.S. Senator and a new Democratic U.S. Representative from my district in the once and future great state of Ohio. Salute!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:42 amSo I guess with her logic, increasing support for AIDS research, cancer research and the like won’t increase the likelyhood of cures.
Let’s just drop all those monies into Iraq, cuz we are just follish to waste it on curing illness.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:46 amYes, it’s easy to manipulate feelings, especially regarding fear – as in all those repeated references to giant mushroom clouds, 9/11, “fight them there so we don’t have to fight them here”, “they want to kill your family”, etc. Yeah, she would know about manipulation all right.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:49 amNow we know the truth. Mr Fox was used. He never read the bill. He was told it supported Stem Cell research but they never told him about the cloning. And we also find the ad was paid for by a company owned by the Stowers. They pumped $28 Million into advertising and lobbying. If they get the Democrat in and he pushed the bill through their Biotech company stands to make Billions of dollars when the state becomes a safe haven for their company. The bill stops any laws from being passed that prevent their little Frankenstein pursuits.
Talk about manipulation. The truth hurts and it is all about money. Of course all you losers can do is make fun of the first lady. One week until you lose again.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:49 amI want to know WHY we can’t take back our own country from idiots like the Bush’s and the Republican Party??? Are we in America become so apathetic,,,,so under the thumb of our own government and corporations that WE ARE TOTALLY IMMOBILE?? I don’t think many of the Democrats are much better and I DON’T THINK A TWO PARTY SYSTEM IS WORKING! As long as we continue to play by the rules OF THEIR GAME…we lose!! Our founding fathers are rolling in their grave……AND WE HAVE GOTTEN ALL THAT WE DESERVE, BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID TO MAKE LARGE STEPS, ROCK A BOAT OR DO ANY REAL SACRIFICING!! Personally, I am just so disgusted…….. I will vote to get rid of the Republicans in November…..but I truly don’t think I will get my hopes up for a “cure” in the Democrats. We need to SCRAP THE WHOLE SYSTEM…..AND START OVER. Enough with not throwing the baby out with the bath water……this tired all rhetoric just keeps the status quo!! We ALL KNOW THAT BUSH….AND MRS. BUSH ARE MORONS….THIS IS BEATING A TIRED & DEAD HORSE. We all know that politicians are mostly CORRUPT….just look at how much money it takes to run as a politician. As long as money & power are part & party of our political system…..there will always be corruption. The question really is….do we lack the will, the sacrifice and THE BALLS to stop that which WE HAVE CREATED?? Potshots at Laura Bush is WAY TO EASY……come up with a solution (more than just the Nov. Election)….NOW THAT IS REALLY THE QUESTION TO THE ANSWER!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 10:53 amSomeone should turn around and say how Jesus was only out to manipulate us into worshiping him with all that torture crucifixion crown of thorns stuff.

I think you just did.
That Jesus, such a selfish tool for trying to manipulate us at the behest of his liberal puppetmasters…
October 31st, 2006 at 10:58 amDear Happy+Guy:
Unfortunately for you, there is no current or pending research that shows any promise for curing your debilitating and usually fatal disease — “head-up-your-a**edness”.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:59 amI’m sure that “it’s always easy to manipulate other’s feelings” is the Bush mantra by now. That is the basis of their entire election strategy. The cold assessment by Ms Laura is accurate, timely, and disgusting.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:59 amWhen people are as ignorant as Happy+Guy, they are very easy to manipulate.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:00 amHappy Guy proves that “it’s easy to manipulate” with:
Now we know the truth. Mr Fox was used. He never read the bill. He was told it supported Stem Cell research but they never told him about the cloning.
Hey, Happy Guy: What bill? Where is cloning supported? Or are you just spouting the lines the neocon authors write for you and your fellow philosophy-challenged Bush-supporters?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:03 amShe is proof of why conservative republican women are better left in the kitchen or bedroom.
Regarding 11/8, after the thumping I can hardly wait for the Rove spin machine to come-up with lies about how the GOP really won just that no one else realizes it except him and the King.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:04 am#13 i think the term manslaughterer is more apt. laura has learned a lot from her mother-in-law. she’s not as creepy as porn-writer lynne cheney. those are three of the most dangerous people in america. all smiles and pearl necklaces on the outside. pure neocon opportunists on the inside.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:05 amNow we know the truth. Mr Fox was used. He never read the bill. He was told it supported Stem Cell research but they never told him about the cloning. Blah, blah, blah. And all the right can do is make fun of Michael J Fox, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Harold Ford, Bill Clinton… ad nauseum.
For the record, I’m not making fun of the first lady, but it’s not like it would be hard.
Would you care to back up your propaganda with any links? Or are we to take you at your word that Big Money manipulates Politics? I have PLENTY of examples of that, but they all seem to be from the Republicans…
And careful what you wish for… especially if your emotions are being manipulated.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:06 amYou know Happy Guy is really delusional……that’s why he is so happy and makes such ignorant unknowledgeable statements. Happy Guy…..what you been taking to be so happy and delusional. Come back…..when you have some facts that are supported by MORE THAN NEOCON RHETORIC!!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:08 amI presume from Happy+Guy’s post that he would never spoke ill of former First Lady Hillary Clinton.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:10 amLaura, The Dewey Decimal Dolt.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:10 amCough, Schavio, cough.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:11 amOK I’ve had enough of the schleps like Happy Guy. Below is a portion of the Stem Cell Bill that GW vetoed (his first out of all the crap that goes thru DC). First read it:
SEC. 498D. HUMAN EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH.
`(b) Ethical Requirements- Human embryonic stem cells shall be eligible for use in any research conducted or supported by the Secretary if the cells meet each of the following:
`(1) The stem cells were derived from human embryos that have been donated from in vitro fertilization clinics, were created for the purposes of fertility treatment, and were in excess of the clinical need of the individuals seeking such treatment. This is where your whole asinine argument falls apart. These embryos have already been created within the law and they won’t be used by the couple who legally made them and can legally have them destroyed.
`(2) Prior to the consideration of embryo donation and through consultation with the individuals seeking fertility treatment, it was determined that the embryos would never be implanted in a woman and would otherwise be discarded. So the embryos will be thrown away. Wrap your little mind around this Happy Guy, the embryos are dumped, killed, destroyed, removed from existence already. These can be used for further research and not to clone you mental midget.
`(3) The individuals seeking fertility treatment donated the embryos with written informed consent and without receiving any financial or other inducements to make the donation. That means they do it of their own free will without government intrusion. Isn’t that something your supposed to be for?
If you are against this then you are against invetro fertilization and I haven’t seen you bang your stupid stick about that. You push fear of cloning, fear of terrorists, fear of Democrats. Hell, I bet you push fear of the dark, the boogey man and fear of dying itself.
There is no way in hell I want you to be making any decisions for me.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:11 amIs this photo of a mannikin?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:15 amWith Smilexâ„¢, I get a grin, again and again!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:16 am… the First Lady continued, “or at least, that’s what Geaorge is always telling me”…
October 31st, 2006 at 11:21 amSeems to me that not even Laura can be so stupid as to NOT see the damage her husband has done and continues to do to America, so I can only conclude that she’s an evil bitch just like Lynne Cheney, eh?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:22 amthis is a person married to George W. Bush. Enough said.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:24 am.
Why do these GOPers think they know more than scientists who’ve spent decades studying the subject in depth?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:25 amShe has that psychotropic drug glazed smile plastered onto her face!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:25 amShe should know all about the ease of manipulating feelings, her husband manipulated most of the countries feelings about 9/11 into invading Iraq.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:26 amWell one thing for sure…people won’t feel compassion for George W. or Laura W Bush if either of them should show systems of a dibilating disease.
Course Laura’s pull ring, that might get stuck, and if it should, we don’t know what to do for that.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:30 amIf her hair was a little bit greener she could play the Joker.
Ag anway, Batman villains aside, what she has basically done here is a continuation of the Rights stance on anyone that speaks against them – insult them and accuse them of having a hidden agenda.
Personally, I hope that in two months time the full length and breadth of the Republican governmental scandal comes out. Lets see how long until transactions in Laura and Lynne’s bank accounts get traced to Jack Abramoff eh?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:32 amTalk about manipulation. The truth hurts and it is all about money. Of course all you losers can do is make fun of the first lady. One week until you lose again.

Manipulation…..has anyone mentioned Limbaugh’s ties to the Talent family in Missouri? Any mention of his support for Jim Talent?
Oh….of course not.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:32 amIts also easy to manipulate peoples feels (Even to the point of totally ignoring science) by telling them they have to repeat everything you say or else they dont love god….
October 31st, 2006 at 11:33 amCan ANYONE put a muzzle on these psychopaths known as the right-wing?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:34 am#43
“Happy Guy”
I saw Micheal J.Fox on “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos.
He says he approached the Democrats. He wasn’t “used.”
Thanks for lying.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:37 amAs if Awwnoold, the GrOPer, didn’t rely on his being an actor to get elected? Really, the neo-cons are such hypocrites.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:42 amI have discovered the LIBERAL CLONING PLAN! It is written on all the democratic stem cell bills in “invisible ink”! How sneaky. It says …
1 little, 2 little, 3 little Clintons.
4 little, 5 little, 6 little Clintons.
7 little, 8 little, 9 little Clintons.
10 little Clinton Clones!
And again…
100 little, 200 little, 300 little Clintons.
400 little, 500 little, 600 little Clintons.
700 little, 800 little, 900 little Clintons.
1000 little Clinton Clones!
Rinse and repeat…
10000 little, 20000 little, 30000 little Clintons.
40000 little, 50000 little, 60000 little Clintons.
70000 little, 80000 little, 90000 little Clintons.
100000 little Clinton Clones!
The LIBERALS are planning on TAKING OVER THE WORLD with an army of Clinton Clones!!! This is the devils plan and we must all vote GOP for the next 1000 years to stop it!!! Vote Republican to stop the Cloning Wars!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:43 amLaura must really despise Jerry Lewis and the MDA for that yearly telethon. Manipulating people’s feelings like that. It should be a crime….or maybe it already is!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:43 amWhere is karma when you want it??? I’d hate to be in Laura or Bar’s shoes when karma comes around to them…
October 31st, 2006 at 11:44 amActually, he came up with and produced the ad himself.
I know because I called the McCaskill campaign and his Foundation for a post on my site.
Oh, and the law specifically bans cloning. All it does is guarantee the same type of research allowed by federal law. I know because I’ve read it (and I live in Missouri, so I kinda pay attention to these kind of things).
But go ahead and use the word “cloning” to try and hide the facts. Doing so just proves the First Lady’s point that emotions are easily manipulated, especially by people like you who have no ability to reason or logic.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:47 amggibson
Only the Republicans can stop an army of Clinton clones.
They are the only known force that can suck quite that much.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:47 amWhat a bitch!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:49 amComment by Bruce+Gorton
So if you were to clump Americas Republicans into a big ball out in space next to a black hole which “void” would suck the other in?
October 31st, 2006 at 11:50 amIt’s okay, out in the desert of New Mexico, around Dulce, they have been creating M-kids [Monarch kids] with Reptilian Draconian DNA from the crashed saucer that was made of indestructible material but distructed anyway, and now the green waspy eyed critters are part human and the collective GOP sicko-pathic hive, they have infiltrated the churches and the government and the police, the 666 Draconians will defeat the mamby pamby clinton clades with their shockinawe timp/space particle beam weaponry disintegrating you into many subatomic particles, indeed, making you a god, of particles, so to speak, in the sky!
October 31st, 2006 at 11:53 amGreat comment “hellinabucket.”
There is no greater threat to the Neo-cons than the truth – and to that, they never have a good answer, instead choosing to change the subject or attack the author to try and redirect anything they have done from the actual facts and truth of the matter.
Just once, I’d like to see GWB in a debate where he was forced to answer the questions, rather than be able to dance around and change the subject to fear and what Democrats will do to “help the terrorists.” Talk about manipulation…
What’s so sad is that so many of the sheeple are buying-into his continual rhetoric of fear – while the facts lie on the sidelines, like yesterdays garbage.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:54 amThe woman is on drugs. See the faked smile; see the glassed over eyes. I would submit that Mrs. Bush has not even thought about stem-cell research. She is given her drugs and her talking points. No room for independent thought in this executive. Independent thinkers need not apply.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:00 pmHmmmmmmmmm…Can we look forward to Laura getting Alzheimer’s? I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy…well, Maybe Her moronic Husband!

Unless they have none.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:05 pmLaura Bush has spent a lot of time looking into American womens’ eyes and saying “I’m pro-choice.” Last week she was on the stump for Rick Santorum. What an incredible phony Laura Bush is.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:09 pm80
That is an empirical question (for all you neocon anti-science guys, that means you don’t know the answer until you test it). Sounds like the beginning of a very good, socially relevant experiment.

October 31st, 2006 at 12:09 pmHere we go, TP. And especially on, the satanist holiday, Halloween. Mrs Bush has a right to view her opinion about MJF’s supportive Demoratic ad. Previously, I agreed that Rush was wrong for indicating that MJF was faking during the ad, but now, instead of pity, I have shame for MJF for using his disease to gain more MD votes. It’s plain disgusting, and Laura Bush was right. This is equivalent to the NJ 9/11 wives supporting a NJ Democratic ad, it’s shameful. I know our Lord Jesus Christ can’t be happy with his/their actions. Also please stop criticizing our First Lady. She has a very kind and meek heart. More of you female libs need to emulate her. Cease and desist.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:10 pmcarrollt: “The woman is on drugs. See the faked smile; see the glassed over eyes.”
My guess is Zanax or Prosac.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:10 pm” It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult,” said the woman who killed a boy in a car accident and did not pay a cent in retribution, who married a petulant draft dodging alcoholic, and raised two girls who can’t keep their panties on in public.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:11 pmLaura:
Michael J. Fox campaigning for stem cell research isn’t a manipulation it is an act of courage.
You on the other hand trying to give your husband credit for any stem cell research advances IS a manipulation.
My message to all of you who oppose stem cell research is this: SIGN A PLEDGE PROMISING THAT YOU WILL NEVER USE ANY OF THE CURES THAT MAY SOMEDAY COME FROM THIS RESEARCH.
This research will go on with your blessings or without your blessings and when the cures come, and they will, you have no moral right to partake of the man made miracle.
So go away Laura Bush, you’re as big a phony as the rest of the Bush clan.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:17 pmWhat a bitch. So typical, are we surprised? Nope, not at all. Even their women are scum, thru and thru.
You suck, Pickles.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:17 pmLaura Bush always uses the arguement ‘George Bush is the only president to approve federal funding for stem cell research!’
I am so disappointed that Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln or JFK didn’t approve funding for stem cell research!
Only W.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:18 pmDaryll, you really do not see the hipocrisy in Laura Bush deriding someone for playing to emotions? Do you think that her husband’s administration plays on emotions?
October 31st, 2006 at 12:18 pmDaryll: “I know our Lord Jesus Christ can’t be happy with his/their actions. Also please stop criticizing our First Lady. She has a very kind and meek heart. More of you female libs need to emulate her. Cease and desist.”
This from a guy who referred to Ted Kennedy as a murderer for an automobile accident 40 years ago. This from someone who believed Rush Limbaugh when he said Hillary Clinton murdered her friend Vince Foster. This from a moronic, self-loathing fag who wants to marry Jesus.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:19 pmLaura Bush = C*nt.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:20 pmDaryll….your right she has a right to voice an opinion…..& I have a right to call her an idiot and a BS Artist!! I would not want to be anything like Mrs. Bush (especially since she killed someone in a drunk driving incident and sold pot in college). She has NO OPINION OTHER THAN WHAT GEORGE GIVES HER and enough with the Christian religious stuff. I am so sick and tired of people pushing their beliefs on me. I think that all Christians should be placed in a Mosque for days on end and find out what it’s like to have people push their beliefs on them, then perhaps you would get it!!! I believe in God….just not religion…religion is not of God…AND NEITHER IS POLITICS. Do you really believe that God want to be minimize to US Politics? You really stand religion & God on it’s head. Go to some religious room….you meek, pathetic, brainwashed idiot. I can say this….it’s called freedom of speech. You think God is striking me dead now….I THINK NOT!!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:21 pmAnd incredibly, this twit still is considered a top draw for wingnuts and the terminally gullible. She’s coming to my state (N.C.) with select invitations to the wingnut ignorati, since her spineless husband can only show up stealth-like in the dead of night to raise funds for his army of quislings. What a pathetic piece of work.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:22 pmSure, always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when it comes to religion.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:23 pmWhat would an android know about manipulating peoples’ feelings?
October 31st, 2006 at 12:25 pmDaryll: “I know our Lord Jesus Christ can’t be happy with his/their actions.”
In Jesus’ day, Daryll most likely would have been executed for claiming to know what was on God’s mind. Stone him! Stone him!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:25 pmBluedog49, thank the Lord she’s no loud-mouth, like sinful Hilary Clinton. MJF is taking his message to Democratic Rallies in various states, and you see nothing wrong with this. I challenge your ethics.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:26 pmStepford wife.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:27 pmHow dare this Selected Incompetent First (Last) Lady, who is addicted to Xanax and a chain-smoker, criticize or judge others with terminal illnesses. She is pathetic and has no shame! She and her pathetic husband deserve the same fate as Marie-Antoinette and her husband. Laura Bush, you need to crawl back in the hole you came from!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:31 pmthe satanist holiday, Halloween
Comment by Daryll
Oh man that brings back memories of being a kid in church… but in REALITY land Halloween is a pagan holiday were the people used to try to scare away the evil spirits….
Back to Fantasy Christian Island…
October 31st, 2006 at 12:32 pmWhat?
FDR didn’t authorize federal funding for Stem Cell Research?
NO?
Bush is the first, eh?
Maybe because the fricking science behind it has only come into existence during this dumbass’ tenure as prez.
She may smile and nod like she knows what’s going on, and maybe Andy Card clued her into a couple of things but this woman is pure Stepford, top to bottom.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:32 pmKeep it up Mrs. Bush; I think the more you try to stir this one up the more people will side with MJF. He has a higher Q rating anyway…his popularity is measured in television ratings.
Too darn bad Nancy Reagan didn’t air a commercial like this – I wonder how much money SHE has donated to support the cause of stem cell research?
October 31st, 2006 at 12:32 pmDaryll: “I challenge your ethics.”
Now, that’s funny. A guy who thinks that if you don’t agree with his version of a magical deity, you will spend eternity being tortured in hell…. is challenging MY ethics. Daryll, Laura Bush calls herself “pro-choice” and is campaigning for the most anti-choice Senator in government, Rick Santorum. The fact that you don’t see this as an ethical problem says more about you than any of your religious bullshit.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:33 pmDaryll……when did God say it was ok to impersonate him? I don’t recall God saying he had judge, condemmed and sentence Hilary to Hell…..I guess you just stepped in an did that for him??? Daryll….you are a hypocrite and brainwashed hypocrite at that!!! JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGE…… ROMAN 3:23 FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD……I am sure you were excluded from this passage, because you are the moral authority of God!! This hypocrisy is THE BASE for the Republicans. It’s ok to call Ted Kennedy a “murderer”, but you want women to emulate Laura….what hogwash is this and from what God authority does it come from. You really are brain dead!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:34 pmManipulate the war on terror. See link
October 31st, 2006 at 12:34 pmBluedog49, thank the Lord she’s no loud-mouth, like sinful Hilary Clinton. MJF is taking his message to Democratic Rallies in various states, and you see nothing wrong with this. I challenge your ethics.
Comment by Daryll — October 31, 2006 @ 12:26 pm
Then explain why MJF shot a similar campaign ad for Arlen Spector in 2004. And why is it a problem when someone wants to support a candidate that supports their issue, regardless of party? This is what America is all about.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:35 pmActually, she’s just a liar like her husband. Bill Clinton was the first president to authorize spending for stem cell research. His administration set up guidelines for federal funding. When Bush came in, he ended the Clinton system and set up a much more restrictive system.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:36 pmLOL Daryl
the “satanist” holiday
You idiots reveal your intellect (or lack of) whenever you go off the GOP script.
Stick to the talking points, Daryl. My god man- you should know by now that the GOP does all your thinking for you. Don’t worry your pretty little head about pesky “facts.”
I fear for the children of these wackos (ie Daryl) who grow thinking that Halloween is “satanic.”
Do you really believe your own bullshit? I doubt it. Very few people that are that f*cking stupid.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:36 pmIt’s Always Easy To Manipulate People’s Feelings
Well, Mrs. Bush. It takes on to know one, doesn’t it?
After all, your husband and his friends in the White House have been manipulating people’s fears. Fear of foreigners, of other religions, of “terrorist attacks”, etc., etc.
Your husband’s two terms might as well be dubbed “the reign of terror”.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:37 pmDaryll, Terry Schiavo. Talk about using an illness/accident to pull on peoples heart strings. And MJF has supported both Republicans and Democrats so your pitiful little argument holds no water. I’d be careful if I were you. Assuming you know what Jesus would be happy or unhappy about. You’re supporting someone who has allowed hundreds of thousands of people to die. And the reasons why are sketchy at best. I beleive that would make you a hypocrite and I also believe there are some pretty specific statements in the bible about hypocrites.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:38 pmWhat a BITCH! She would know a lot about manipulation. Her husband and his bunch have been doing it to the world for the last 6 years.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:38 pmPeejay3306, you’re right. Religion isn’t of god, it’s of the devil. It’s used to confuse each and everyone of us. Jesus said that everyone that follows him should be considered holy, not catholic, methodist, baptist, ect. Also, don’t judge, those were different types of sin that she commited prior to finding Christ. God washed her sins away, and now she’s redeemed. He threw her sins from the east to the west and forgot about them.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:39 pmI know our Lord Jesus Christ can’t be happy with his/their actions. Also please stop criticizing our First Lady. She has a very kind and meek heart. More of you female libs need to emulate her. Cease and desist.
Comment by Daryll — October 31, 2006 @ 12:10 pm
Daryll, since you communicate with the Lord, please let us know what his feelings were on this:
October 31st, 2006 at 12:43 pm“In 1963 Laura Bush was involved in a fatal car accident when she ran a stop sign and crashed into another car, killing her boyfriend Michael Dutton Douglas who was driving the other car. “
Daryll: “Religion isn’t of god, it’s of the devil.”
Great work, Daryll! Equal opportunity slimer of athiests, agnostics and religious alike! Daryll, are Amish people “of the devil?” How about Mother Teresa? How about St. Peter?
October 31st, 2006 at 12:46 pmWhat’s so horrible about the idea of cloning? I could use at least one more of me to get through the day more easily. But then, of course, if you had more Laura Bush’s, there might be an increase in vehicular homicide.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:46 pmThe Devil is a Christian Concept……therefore it’s of religion….and not of God. Christianity is a religion and therefore not of God.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:46 pmShe is trapped in a BAD marriage – no one else is going to marry her –
October 31st, 2006 at 12:46 pmso she says to hell with the living.
Laura tell us about your running your car over your first boyfriend killing him, because you had a fight with him and wanted revenge > after you do that, then you can talk about Michael J. Fox manipulating feelings!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:46 pmWhat a BITCH! She would know a lot about manipulation. Her husband and his bunch have been doing it to the world for the last 6 years.
6 years? Longer than that!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:47 pmShe’s a mur-diddly-urderer!!!!!!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:47 pmDENIAL IS SO DEEPLY INGRAINED IN THE DAILY LIVES OF BUSH REPUBLICANS, THEY REALLY DON’T KNOW HOW PHONY AND HYPOCRITICAL THEY ARE. IT’S ALMOST AS IF THEY DELIBERATELY ATTACK OTHERS FOR THE THINGS THEY THEMSELVES ARE MOST GUILTY OF. THEY ARE SO DETACHED FROM THE REALITIES OF THEIR OWN SINS, INCOMPETENCIES AND FAILURES, THEY DON’T RECOGNIZE HOW COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL THEY COME ACROSS TO EVERYONE ELSE. THEY ARE TRULY LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD OF THEIR OWN CREATION.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:47 pmTelevangefrist, don’t worry about the children that I will help conceive. I rely on biblical standards. Per a previous post, tonight I’m waiting on the children to knock on my door. Instead of candy, they will receive bible leaflets. Instead of giving them an item to help celebrate this demonic holiday, I’ll give them something to help them morally for the rest of their lives.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:48 pmAnd tards like Daryll only believe that Hillary Clinton is evil because she’s got a mind of her own.
I mean really- why are the HitlerYouth so outraged about Hillary?
Because she was cheated on by her husband?
Because she took on a real issue as 1st lady (Health Care) even if it failed?
Because of a land deal that she lost money on?
Oh, could it be—- she’s one of them “uppity” women. That’s word right out of your playbook Daryl— “uppity.” Geez what a bunch of bigots.
She’s a successful woman and, of course (gasp) because she’s a Democrat…. so?
Democrats fought on the good side of the Civil Rights movement.
On the good side of women’s suffrage.
And now they’re opposing redneck amendments that would limit the rights of gay Americans.
What the hell do you have to be proud of?
Name 1 thing the GOP has fought for in the last 50 years that was principled, humanitarian, or ethical. Name 1 Daryl because during the Civil Rights we had “dixiecrats” and after the movement we had the GOP’s “southern strategy” so tell me 1 thing that the repigs have fought for that mattered at all, that improved society?
Name one you mindless sheep. If you’ll defend this bunch you don’t give a damn about this country, you only care about being right and demonizing your own countrymen.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:49 pmYou’re a bigoted primate that daydreams about segregation and fag-bashing.
What a disgusting political party. Luckily I believe in Natural Selection so it’s only a matter of time before tards like Daryl die off, and a more tolerant, intellectual society emerges.
You gotta believe.
Actually… Clinton did authorize federal spending for stemcell research… it just wasn’t set to begin until after Bush took office and once of the first things Bush did was repeal the Clinton authorization and place his own more stringent “only the few that we already have” authorization in it’s place. Look it up… but Clinton was first, Bush just ambushed him.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:52 pmHe threw her sins from the east to the west and forgot about them.
Comment by Daryll
Well maybe she should look to the north and south because those that forget the past is doomed to repeat it… Vietnam… Kings…. Witch hunts..
October 31st, 2006 at 12:54 pmhaHA! – Daryll’s gettin his house egged and tp’ed tonight!!! woooo-hoooo!
October 31st, 2006 at 12:55 pmAccording to her, there simply is no cure to Alzheimers, and I suppose then, in her mind, to any disease currently without a cure, therefore, it is silly to expect further medical research to yield any future cures???
What kind of backward, insular, self-righteous upbringing was inflicted upon the leaders of this country? It seems their only solution to this inability to conduct modern-human reasoning is to exude some inane sense of omniscience, which I suppose is technically valid due to their intimate relationship with Jesus…
October 31st, 2006 at 12:55 pmYou have every right to make yourself the laughing stock of your neighborhood. I could care less about you handing out bible leaflets.
Good luck with that. But claiming to know the 1 true religion and that all others will burn for eternity, etc etc is, at it’s core- bigotry.
Telling others that their beliefs are inadequate, or incomplete, or wrong and that they must accept what you believe or.. else? Sure, that’s just “saving the world” unfortunately no one asked you to save the world, you just decided it needed saving, so again- who are you to judge. Seems there are a couple quotes from the bible about “judging” but I can’t remember… maybe you could remind me.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:55 pmI wonder if it were staged when she ran over her ex boyfriend and was never charged with murder? Now Laura knows about staging things as that’s what she’s doing now. The first lady is a Steford Wife with a chip and when Bush is out of office and Connie/Bush start their lives. Bush will remove the chip from Laura so Laura/Rich Texas boyfriend will have their lives. It’s all about the Steford chip.
October 31st, 2006 at 12:58 pmshe blew her mind out in a car
October 31st, 2006 at 1:03 pmshe hadn’t noticed that the lights had changed…….
i’d love to turn you on……….
There Laura Bush goes talking about deseases and making me really discusted with her and the likes of her. It is clear she is manipulating my feelings by talking about desease. I am angry that she will talk about things she has no knowledge of. In being so dam stupid she manipulates my feelings. She should be ashamed for talking about deseases when she is totally ignorant. God how she manipulates my feelings. What a complete idiot Laura Bush is. I usually would not talk about someone like this but Laura Bush is manipulating my feelings. Laura Bush is as dangerous and untrust worthy as her husband. That jerk is another person who manipulates me into being really discusted with his stupid policies and comments about almost anything. Laura and the George should stop saying things that manipulate our feelings. It is really annoying to listen to such idiots as those two talking about desease. Do they both have the same desease that makes them talk so silly?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:06 pmMAYBE THIS FIRST LADY SHOULD TALK TO NANCY REAGAN, WHO IS A VERY STRONG ADVOCATE OF STEM CELL RESEARCH. I guess Laura Bush must have also thought that the Reagan’s were using Ronny’s Alzheimer’s “to manipulate people’s feelings.” What a powerfully ignorant thing for Laura Bush to say. Is she trying to piss her popularity numbers away? I can’t even imagine having to be married to a dishonest, incompetent, moronic dipshit like George W. Bush. Lynne Cheney appears to be as hideous as Dick Cheney. Maybe Laura wants to join in her in those low ranks.
My applause to this appropo post:
“It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about…â€
FEAR
TERROR
UNCERTAINTY
XENOPHOBIA
HOMOPHOBIA
TECHNOPHOBIA
PATRIOTISM
IMMIGRATION
ECONOMICS
THE ENVIRONMENT
LOYALTY OATHS
FEEDING TUBES
CIVIL RIGHTS
WOMEN’S RIGHTS
Let’s hear it for the Bush Sadministration… they take it easy.
Comment by Technodaoist — October 31, 2006 @ 10:06 am
October 31st, 2006 at 1:08 pmI can see why the Republicans are going to maintain their control over the congress. If the people the Democrats are supporting, are an accurate representation of the people I see posting their anti bush/republican vitriol here in these pages, they will never be elcted. I cannot image ever voting for someone who has to speak in such filthy language.
#79, sounds to me like vbirds of a feather –
#46, you talk about a view you are obviously, personally familiar with
#50, there are meny democrat women I wouldn’t even trust with those items you feel republican women need to concentrate on.\
#64, did that drug come from your personal stash?
#70, not unless they muzzle all the idiots on the other side, which would leave only about 10 decent people left as democrats.
#74, You gotta be kidding-
#80, hopelyy not the intellectual voide the democrats appear to exist in. It may raise the IQ level 1/4 of a point.
Jeesh I am glad I am a constitutionalist, and don’t claim to be attached to either party. they both stink.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:08 pmIf Mrs. Bush had a brain, she would not remark on M.J. Fox’s issues!
October 31st, 2006 at 1:14 pmIf she had a BRAIN………she could do the research!
STEM CELL RESEARCH IS the future. There is hardly a desease known to mankind in this day and age that researcher are NOT showing GREAT strides in relation to stem cell research!
Laura, with your title of First Lady, I would hope you were better informed! Pity.
Get sick and see if you just might change your mind, to save your life!
Silly woman, stem cell reasearch has only been possible to fund since the late, late 1990s. I wish someone would call her on that stupid statistic she always quotes; kind of difficult to fund something before it’s discovered.
Also all those “Snowflake” babies wouldn’t be here today without embryonic research. It took a little bit of research to get all that stuff working in the petri dishes.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:16 pmHe’s manipulating. Sure. That’s what he’s always been known for…right? It’s why everyone adores the guy, right? Have I got that right?
Got something right. Waaaaaaay right. Sigh
October 31st, 2006 at 1:16 pmintellectual voide the democrats appear to exist in
Hmmm, I would agree except .. I dont EVER see democrats getting on TV and making fun of people that are smart… Bush just the other day was going on about too many philosophers, the right is always going on about the evil college professors and their intelligentsia crowd, and I dont know how many times I have seen republicans get really pissed anytime someone suggests we should learn what motivates the muslims to turn to terrorism…
Maybe you should try backing up your assertion with some facts?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:18 pm#141 – If you’re a constitutionalist, what do you think of the habit of Presidents that inject religion in their “oath of office”?
Read the fine print. At no time does the oath of Presidential office say “So help me God”, but it’s been added by most Presidents.
I guess that just gets your knickers in a knot, right? Who the heck gave them the right to change the Constitution without a so much as “by your leave” by anyone?!?!
Come on, Doug, share with us how much this change of the Constitution chafes your nerves!
October 31st, 2006 at 1:18 pmWhy does Laura think it’s wrong to give some sort of hope to people with Parkinsons with Stem Cell research, but okay to give them no hope at all by doing nothing?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:21 pmWell, you know that stem cell research only offers(talking point) “false hope”. But if we hold to that argument, then we should also outlaw prayer, right? No guarantees there!
October 31st, 2006 at 1:23 pm#93 said “married a petulant draft dodging alcoholic” and that’s worse than a hippie drug smoking, “I didn’t inhale” looser who fled (reade dodged the draft), to a communist nation to escape the draft, and didn’t even searve in the national guard?
#95, another personal observation by who who is personally qualified to speak about all women?
#99, Obviously intelligent, can’t even spell a 4 letter word, do they allow you to select a PICTURE since you obviously have a spelling problem?
Jeesh I could go on and on. some of you truly need sprofessional help, or some of thos psychotropic drugs you accuse others of being on. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t BLAME them, if they had to put up with a bunch of nuts and fruitcakes like yourselves.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:24 pmMy mother always said “If you can’t say anything nice about a person don’t say anything at all”. The Republicans are mean-spirited and hypocritical to criticize Michael J. Fox – anyone remember Terri Schiavo?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:28 pm149#. That’s right Dougie you tell them. Don’t offer any intelligent rebutal to the arguments on why Mrs. Bush’s attack is hypocritical just be pithy. I’m sure you’ll get some neocon attaboys for that.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:30 pmWhen even the First Lady shows signs of being drunk on power, you know corruption is deep.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:33 pm#3: Even if Bush got Alzheimer’s, how could anyone tell?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:33 pm#146, not really, the constitution nowhere says that people have to give up religion when they take office, and in fact as the U.S. came about supporting religious freedoms, (judeo-christian), you will find in may places the say a prayer, or the words, “In God we Trust” are written.
Why would that bother me? it’s not as if catholicism, or babptism is being specifially supported. In no way does that make this government supported religion?
Why would I be upset?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:34 pm‘It’s Always Easy To Manipulate People’s Feelings’…
Yes, like for example fear. Like for example saying that if Democrats win, terrorists will kill your family. THESE ARE TEH STAEKS!!!1
Seriously, keep it up, Laura. Keep showing this utter inhumanity, lest we forget. Keep demonstrating how MJF is a thousand times the human being any of you and yours could hope to aspire to be.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:34 pmThis demonstrates the religious-right has far too much power over Bush and Washington – and if we don’t stop them soon, I’d guess the “Morality Police†will one day emerge from this government that appears to have lost all semblances of sanity in their attempts to push their puritan morals on the rest of America!
When such a “policy” fails — as all evidence indicates it will — they can blame the liberals. Just like when their war has failed, they blame liberal politicians and a liberal press. Republicans are not the party of personal responsibility.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:34 pmHey, Laura, speaking of “manipulating feelings,” that’s exactly what your hubby did after 9/11 when he lied to the nation and told us we had to invade Iraq to avenge 3,000 American deaths.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:36 pmLaura Bush is a disgusting soulless cash-whore. and I mean no disrespect for actual whores.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:38 pmLook into her eyes–lights on, nobody’s home.
#149 – Way to call someone out on spelling. Did you proofread your post?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:38 pmOh, and 149? I would be cautious on your criticism regarding the spelling and grammatical shortcomings of others.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:38 pm#99, Obviously intelligent, can’t even spell a 4 letter word, do they allow you to select a PICTURE since you obviously have a spelling problem?
Comment by Douglas+G. — October 31, 2006 @ 1:24 pm
Ohh, such venom, such hatred, but yet, even Douglas + G cannot spell correctly, either.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:38 pmMy point, from the same post:
#93 said “married a petulant draft dodging alcoholic†and that’s worse than a hippie drug smoking, “I didn’t inhale†looser who fled (reade dodged the draft), to a communist nation to escape the draft, and didn’t even searve in the national guard?
Game, set, and match, Dougless + GOP
What a vacuous creature. I wonder what Laura is going to think when her husband is impeached.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:39 pmOkay, this is too easy
from Dougless G, who criticizes people’s spelling:
you will find in may places the say a prayer, or the words, “In God we Trust†are written.
Why would that bother me? it’s not as if catholicism, or babptism is being specifially supported. In no way does that make this government supported religion?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:41 pmbut what if stem cell research could develop a better botox treatment?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:41 pm#151, What’s to rebut? He said his piece, she said hers. He opens himself open for intellectual critique, so does she. He was accused on either non medicating or over medicating, (Something he has in fact to admitted to, both in the past, AND present), she is also open for intellectual debate. Name calling, that’s not intellectual debate. Do I like what she did? not really. Can I understand why? Yes. The ad the MJF made says, “Stem Cell Research” and gives the illusion that it includes ALL stem cell research.
It doesn’t. Also when aperson votes against something, it’s nice to know what else is attached to that bill, since it’s not always clear why someone voted negatively to something. There may have very well been crap added on, attached, or stipulated that had nothing to do with the matter at hand, but to pass the matter at hand, give the OK to something that is not agreeable.
Do I like the state of politics today? Again no. I thinks its disgusting.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:43 pmYes, I know, I am using a lousey KB, and really should proofread before hitting send. I also need to pony up 10$ and get me a new kb.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:45 pmThis coming from a murderer. Or did the media manipulate that fact too?
October 31st, 2006 at 1:45 pmDoug G.: some of you truly need sprofessional help, or some of thos psychotropic drugs you accuse others of being on – - Duuuuude, share.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:58 pmThat’s pretty impressive, since none of the religions you listed existed until centuries after Jesus supposedly walked the Earth.
On topic:
Until I see Laura criticizing her husband for tying to scare the electorate into voting for his homies, I’ll simply ignore her.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:02 pmThere is one religious belief that I do subscribe to……and it is a belief of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They believe that religion should not mix with politics, because God is SO MUCH LARGER THAN POLITICS that you should put God at this lower level. They also do not believe in CORPORATION HOLIDAYS…SUCH AS; Christmas, Halloween, Easter…..etc. I am not a Jehovah Witness….as a matter of fact, I am not of any religion, but I like this philosophy. I do believe in a God…….but not a specific God of any religion. I think if God is God….it doesn’t need to run for office (Christian Evangeligals), it doesn’t need multimillionaire gold lame mansions (Catholicism), nor does it need human beings to take vengence for it (Islam). All this rhetoric sounds like MEN….HUMAN BEINGS THIRSTY FOR POWER AND CONTROL OF OTHER PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF GOD….BUT NOTICE HOW WE PATRONIZE AND APPEASE GOD IN MORTAL TERMS.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:03 pm165. Thanks for your response. The add says “expanding stem cell research” so it is not an illusion. He is for candidates of both parties to expand stem cell research and has expressed his displeasure in Bush for using his first veto on this bill that clearly states the embryos that have already been created and the ones that aren’t used to impregnate the woman would be used only after the permission of the parties involved. These embryos are already destroyed and that is perfectly legal and there hasn’t been any national uproar over that. It’s the republicans that leave out the complete message and spread fear.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:05 pm“It’s always easy to manipilate other peoples’ feelings..”
October 31st, 2006 at 2:09 pmShe should know from watching her own hubby’s malfeasances, “Terrorism”. “9/11″, “Democrats soft on defense”, “Mushroom Clouds”, “Gay marriage”, “Taking God out of the Constitution”. The Rove republican fearmongers have mastered that playbook very well. Michal J. Fox is being a real person, undisguised and honest. Bush and family have been one big fat lie after another. I hope they burn in Hades.
“It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings.”
October 31st, 2006 at 2:14 pmyup. And doesn’t the republican fear-mongering machine know that! How ironic now that the tables have turned…
Begun, the Clone Wars have.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:16 pmThat is not a human female.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:18 pmReminds me of another Repugnican wife in the Bush family saying something about how much better off those people were living in the football stadium.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:19 pmMrs. Bush responded that it was wrong for Fox and others to suggest that increased support for embryonic stem cell research could lead to cures for Alzheimer’s and other diseases.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I agree with most of what is being said in this thread, and all the hypocrisy and absurdity of the Bush administration. But, I’ve listened to the snipped and read the transcript, and I can’t see where she says that it is wrong for Fox to suggest this research can lead to cures.
I think she’s a bit too brain-dumb to draw a complex conclusion like that, and I don’t see that in her words.
Darryl: Get a grip, man. If people don’t believe in your god, they are not going to be swayed by anything you have to say that is derived from that belief.
God washed her sins away, and now she’s redeemed. He threw her sins from the east to the west and forgot about them.
I thought god was omniscient. How is it possible for himn to “forget” about someone’s sins?
Wow, but that only scratches the bare surface of the cognitive dissonance required to hold your set of fallacious and self-conflicting beliefs.

October 31st, 2006 at 2:22 pm“Do you really believe your own bullshit? I doubt it. Very few people that are that f*cking stupid”
I was doing some get-out-the-vote calls yesterday, and judging by the bulk of the calls I made, I’m afraid that a WHOLE LOT of Americans are REALLY REALY stupid.
No wonder the GreedyOldPowermongers have been able to seize the levers of government.
Further proof, if any were needed, that Laura Bush is every bit as sociopathic as her husband and the rest of his awful family. Puts to rest the early rumors that behind that robowife smile there is a real human being. A real human being would not allow herself to become a campaign weapon to further George Bush’s benighted agenda.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:23 pm#177 I liked your comment. Thanks for saying more than I could say!!
October 31st, 2006 at 2:23 pmI have always hated Laura Bush. Something about her smile looks so fake liek she’s hiding something. Either she is completely brainwashed or she really is as dumb as she looks. She is completely useless and a waste of perfectly good oxygen. At least her husband makes attempts to look like he’s working — even if he is f#@king up the country!
October 31st, 2006 at 2:32 pmTHe First Lady looks like she has fallen off the wagon.

October 31st, 2006 at 2:38 pmOh, oh, sounds like Pickles is undermedicated again.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:41 pmPeople such as Laura Bush serve the polictical system rather than address the needs of those who are ill. For people like Laura Bush actually treating the ill individual is irrelevant. As long as the neo-con machine functions what happens to the ill is irrelevant. The neo-con machine is self-referential and what is in the best interest of the machine is best for the ill. Fox did address concerns. This area is morally problematical but these concerns can be addressed as Fox suggested with Katie Couric. And by the way an eight day old embryo isn’t a human being. Across medicine there is the view stem cells may someday provide benefical treatments. The neo-cons are missing a great l oppurutunity to do a great benefit now as real safeguards can be emplaced given the hand the neo-cons have. The danger is the nonsensical neo-con position will be replaced by an anything goes program by way of backlash.
October 31st, 2006 at 2:42 pmA Stepford wife is a terrible thing to waste.
October 31st, 2006 at 3:00 pmLaura’s accomplishments in life:

what a woman! full of family values lol….if it werent so sad you could almost laugh
October 31st, 2006 at 3:04 pmHas Laura gotten behind the wheel and killed anyone this week?
October 31st, 2006 at 3:16 pmHow dare these disease ridden cripples get on television and ask for a cure, they should be happy we let them live, with our new eugenics policy coming out in 2007 after we cheat our way back into power, we won’t have to listen to them anymore. I’m also happy christopher reeves isn’t around to whine about a cure, boy he could really manipulate the masses. The jerry lewis marathon will be blacked out this year, can you imagine them little snotnose kids manipulating the public into giving money for a cure for MS. They could just send their donations to the RNC. Everyone knows that with our direct link to pat robertson and jerry fallwell that we can guarantee cures straight from the man who made it all possible Jseus Christ. Ask and you will receive, I don’t know why these people don’t just ask Jesus, they will be cured instantly just like Terry Shiavo. Now just sign this oath at the bottom and we progs will end all debate:
I_______________ do solemnly swear, that if I or any of my children, loved ones or lineage are ever afflicted with a suffering debilitating disease, I will not manipulate any politics, Drs. etc. into giving me any type of cure that involves or has involved stem cell research. I will sit and watch my child or loved one suffer until Jesus cures them or until they die on their own( no plug pulling, artificial means will do, I don’t want to sin). Laura will you be the first to sign please, I know you wouldn’t want the twins to receive this manipulative cure, they would rather spend the rest of their lives in a wheelchair. Any other troll who wants to come on and argue can also sign the pledge too. as a matter of fact don’t accept their argumrnt until they do sign.

What a hateful group of people most of you are………so angry, so sad.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:07 pmTheir rebuttal of manipulation and making fun of MJF shows that they have no defense to their silly excuse that we don’t need stem cells. Nothing upsets a republican like the truth. The truth turns them into strawmen everytime. And for all you creeps who say it’s a shame to talk bad about the first lady, watch lush limpdick’s impersonation of MJK, it’s enough to make you ill.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:13 pmWouldn’t we be able to use stem cells to cure our soldiers who were crippled in the war? Why does Laura hate the troops so much?

October 31st, 2006 at 4:22 pmIf she can be married to George Bush this long and still support him then perhaps her Alzheimer’s has kicked in early.
October 31st, 2006 at 4:28 pmThat’s pretty sick Laura Bush. About as sick as Rush. I wonder if you know how sick your comment is?
October 31st, 2006 at 4:34 pm192. Do you feel like a big shot now? Because everyone here has warrent to be very angry, but we are not the sad ones, the sad ones are the one’s who don’t know any better, like you.

October 31st, 2006 at 5:05 pmLaura Bush is a mentally unbalanced, emotionally disturbed woman who belongs in a house of bedlam. This deluded individual married an alcoholic with a DUI conviction in the 1970s (our esteemed commander-in-chief) and has remained with him for decades!! What more do you need to know?! She remained with him despite his countless failed businesses in the 80s, an SEC investigation into his affairs in the 90s, etc., etc. Now, not surprisingly, he has been an abysmal FAILURE as President. And she continues to voice support for him. Laura Bush is clinically insane. How else can one account for her behavior?!
October 31st, 2006 at 5:06 pmLaura went on to say these immortal words shortly after shaving herself: “Read my lips, no more Bush!!”

October 31st, 2006 at 5:23 pmI think the rich neo-cons figure that say stem cell research proves viable well then a secret trip to Europe or South Korea for the treatment is an option. The neo-cons figure to have the cake and it to, please the fundamentalists who the neo-cons disdain and receive stem cell treatment if it proves viable.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:33 pmAt least she has her Halloween make-up on.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:37 pmDid someone just plug her in? I’m sure it wasn’t Mr. Shrub.
October 31st, 2006 at 5:54 pmI get so tired of hearing how “popular” Mrs. Bush is. The way I look at it: it’s hard to have feelings either way for someone who does NOTHING but what she’s programed to do. At least Nancy Reagan gave us “Just say NO.” WHAT has the First Lady done to be so popular? Just wondering…..?
October 31st, 2006 at 6:04 pmFour months after she met the town rich drunk, she married him. This was not long after she killed her former boyfriend by running the stop sign at the end of her own street. Personally I believe she was switched at birth with the Joker.

October 31st, 2006 at 6:49 pmwhat would you expect from the ninny who would spend the best years of her life with the idiot-in-chief we’re calling the “president”?
October 31st, 2006 at 6:50 pmBut imagine! There are sane, intellectual, educated, sensitive people who are unsure of the morality of stem-cell research. And they can disagree without resorting to the polemic, wildly exaggerated, hyper-defensive retorts you find here.
Imagine!
October 31st, 2006 at 6:59 pmShe is nothing more that a hack. It’s people like her that deserve to get some incurable disease that stem cell research may help just so she can suffer like she wants others to. If we don’t start doing research with these stem cells soon, countries like China are going to pass us by and be the world leaders in the field. But that won’t matter to the right-wing nut cases, so long as we don’t use any embryos that are going to be discarded anyway.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:07 pmstrollingbones: “Laura’s accomplishments in life:
being a drunk

raising two drunks”
You forgot to stick “killing your boyfriend while drunk” before “marrying a drunk.”
October 31st, 2006 at 7:19 pmWe should really be focusing our efforts on finding a cure for religion, as remedy for much of what ails us would follow in turn.

Soup, to be intellectually consistent, you can either close down all fertility clinics or support stem cell research. Which one is it? Since you’re so tired of all the polemic, I’m sure you can answer this simple question.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:23 pmMaybe Laura can run over MJ Fox in her car….
October 31st, 2006 at 7:26 pmshe’s got experience in killing.
WOW whata dumb bitch
October 31st, 2006 at 7:27 pmi take that shit personally, shes so retarded, i hope her kids get aids/cancer/diabetes and ebola all at once, whata dumb bitch
Rob, Amen! The cure is critical thinking and understanding of science.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:29 pmGee, I’m a sane, educated and sensitive person who’s deeply troubled by the fact that fertility clinics routinely destroy thousands of blastocysts instead of donating them to science for research into life-saving therapies. Soup, what should I do?
October 31st, 2006 at 7:31 pmevery republican that supports destroying unused embryos instead of using them for research should be lined up on the wall and given any incurable disease of their choice. maybe a good dose of brain tumor would do them all a bit of good. it continues to baffle me how america could put these idiots in office, twice! everyone make sure you vote so we can impeach bush next year. it will do us all some good.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:45 pmWhat exactly was she saying? The woman didn’t even answer the question. Typical. Just more Republican bullshit.
She has some nerve.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:49 pmGood God, why don’t the Bush’s and the GOP take Michael Fox out in the backyard and beat the crap out of him. Do they think he asked to have the disease he has? If one of the Bush twins had the same disease or something just as debilitating, I’m sure George and Laura would be at the head of the line promoting and supporting stem cell research. Will it take time to find a cure? Of course. Will a cure occur? Who knows. But if we don’t try, we will never know. Too many things in this country are being politicized and as result we will all suffer. Let’s concentrate on important issues such as skyrocketing health care costs, the homeless, and without a doubt, solving the issue in Iraq and get our boys home.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:50 pm#216
That is the most profound statement I’ve heard in years. I would be willing to invest in that research myself.
October 31st, 2006 at 7:50 pmAnd completely off subject, remember that we borrowed from China all the money to pay for the idiots tax cuts . Now our children will have to repay it if we do not RAISE the tax rates soon. This is the one thing that needs to be drummed into the half of America that is to intellectually challenged to think for themselves. If Laura’s husband even wanted to fund stem cell research he couldn’t without asking China first.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:01 pmYou guys all suck. There is nothing wrong with Bush. Bush is the best president since Reagan. Get over yourselves.
October 31st, 2006 at 8:17 pm[...] In an interview on C-Span, Laura Bush was asked about the stem cell research issue and the ads that Michael J. Fox has been doing in support of candidates who support stem cell research (sum of whom are in fact Republicans). In her response she said ‘It’s Always Easy To Manipulate People’s Feelings’ which is absolutely true because that’s all her husband and his administration have been doing for the last six years. Almost everything the Bush administration has done has been based on manipulation, using irrational fear to get people to accept things that they should not even be considering like illegal wars, domestic spying, eliminating habeas corpus and legalizing torture. The republicans know more about manipulating peoples feelings and than anyone and they have no business calling anyone else on it. Bookmark to: [...]

October 31st, 2006 at 9:22 pmBush is the only president to authorize funding for stem cell research because he is the FIRST president to have the opportunity. It was not available to previous presidents. And the “funding’ was crap. Shame on them both.

And considering how Reagan died of Alzheimer’s, Bush and the republicans are all the more disgusting and vile for trying to slow stem cell advances. Do you people stand for anything? Even a murder in prison will admit to having some kind of principles. But you republicans..nothing?

October 31st, 2006 at 10:30 pmLaura Bush is straight up LYING!
BILL CLINTON WAS THE FIRST TO ALLOW FEDERAL FUNDS FOR EMBRYONIC STEM
CELL RESEARCH DER DER DER.
I don’t have the link to the direct presidental order by Clinton, but he stated that federal funds could NOT be used in embryo destructive research meaning they couldn’t be use to isolate the embryonic stem cells. Federal funds could be used to do research after they were isolated.
I really hate how the religious right and conservative think tanks LOVE to spred false propaganda to back up a claim that is OBVIOUSLY based in religion.
October 31st, 2006 at 10:35 pmIs she talking about Jerry Lewis, Christopher Reeves, or Michael J. Fox?
October 31st, 2006 at 10:51 pmSo that’s what my dying uncle is doing.
He’s manipulating my feelings with his cancer. Darn him! And it’s not enough that he has brain tumors too numerous to count, cancerous spots on one lung, and cancerous lymph nodes in his chest, can barely talk above a whisper (when he can “talk” at all), has lost his hair, and cannot feed himself.
Oh no! It just was not enough.
He just had to go and get a hospital bed and put it in his room! The nerve of him trying to manipulate the feelings of his friends and family.
October 31st, 2006 at 11:12 pmLAURA BUSH: Well, I don’t have any idea about any of those.
Laura darling…you could have stopped immediately after speaking those words. Anything else out of your mouth is a wasted effort.

October 31st, 2006 at 11:17 pmAAhhhhh, Laura is so above it all, so lofty, so regal, so wealthy, so classy; wait, scratch that last one, and come to think of it, scratch the first three as well; hmmmm, that only leaves wealthy, and as we all know, wealth doesn’t buy class (or brains).
November 1st, 2006 at 12:06 amsinbad,
If you scratch Laura Bush too hard, you’ll come away with a handful of maggots.
November 1st, 2006 at 12:22 amWow…I’ve seen Diebold voting machines smarting than Her. And yes, she was the “likable” one…..not anymore.
November 1st, 2006 at 12:34 amHee, hee, hee! Some good Halloween humor from Zooey!
November 1st, 2006 at 12:35 amIs there any proof that stem cell research does not lead to the cure of such horrible diseases? Untill then, I would continue the use of stem cells as a research tool, even though some people feel that life begins with conception.
November 1st, 2006 at 1:31 amAh, it’s so good to have mighty+hermaphrodite grace us with its presence now and then…
November 1st, 2006 at 2:21 amHey Laura, killed anyone today? No, then you gotta spare lid?
November 1st, 2006 at 2:49 amGuess Laura won’t be doing too many more events with former First Ladies — like Nancy Reagan, who favors stem cell research because of Ronnie’s Alzheimers. Guess Nancy has “manipulated” people’s feelings, too, right, Laura? But no reporters have asked you about Nancy Reagan!
November 1st, 2006 at 2:57 amIt’s so transparent that the GOP does not favor stem cell research because it could lead to CURES for diseases that pharmaceutical companies need to sell their products. And those companies donate to political campaigns. Money over human beings, that’s the GOP mindset.
She seems to be strangely gleeful, considering the subject matter. “My dad died of Alzheimer’s.” Big, happy smile! Creepy! She had better hope she doesn’t end up with Alzheimer’s. George would put her in a ‘home’ so fast, her pointy little head would spin all the way off. And you just know he wouldn’t visit her, but he could still call her the ‘Lump’. But I don’t think his ego could withstand her forgetting who he is. Republicans have no problem throwing blastocysts in the garbage, fine by them. So why do they care about what happens with them otherwise? They were garbage as far as they were concerned, so don’t worry about it One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Righties called ‘trash’, so be it.
November 1st, 2006 at 3:18 amI wonder if she calls him President Bush in bed? That just seems weird to me. He’s not the President to her–he’s her husband, right? I dunno. What did Hillary call Bill when he was President? Anybody remember?
November 1st, 2006 at 7:08 amSo Bush is the only president to fund stem cell research. Hooray for Bush! Except when Clinton was president, stem cell research was still, um, embrionic.
Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt — both of them — didn’t fund stem cell research either.
Someone should ram that talking point right down their throats.

November 1st, 2006 at 10:02 amSo she thinks Nancy Reagan is wrong too. These people are just idiots. I suppose Laura would say it’s natural to run over your boy friend. Let’s she would rather destroy the 100k cells a year rather than helping people. What a blow hole
November 1st, 2006 at 10:16 amAs others have noted, Mrs. Bush’s supposed “popularity” is perplexing. What, if anything, has this individual contributed to our trouble-plagued society?! What, if anything, has she accomplished in her life? Aside from having the dubious distinction of being married the most incompetent commander-in-chief in history, what is she noted for?! This woman lacks depth and substance, and has NEVER voiced any concern for the well-being of the common man. NEVER. Why, then, should we be reluctant to criticize her?! PILE ON.

I don’t know who Tara is, but Rove… uhhh… you know, Turd Blossom…. Blossom said… what Karl Rove said was to me, he said Karl… no, that’s not right. what he said to me was to always tell people we don’t stand… don’t support, or take the side of, we don’t advocate Tara. We are against Tara.
So this Tara is a bad bad girl. So don’t fight my Laura. Fight Tara. Because we don’t like bad. And Tara is bad.
And don’t pick on my daughters. My daughters… Jenna my daughter… my daughter has… Jenna, one of my daughters… she, my daughter, Jenna, has great boobs. and she got her great boobs… her…. ummmm…. her supple, firm… umm, boobs… her funbags…. she got her funbags from her mother, my…. uhhhh, wife…. my wife, her mother, Jenna’s mother, Laura. So it’s only natural for me to sleep with Jenna, because she is like… like a newer… like a newer younger version of Laura… Laura’s funbags. Plus Jenna doesn’t have a …. a… uhhh, that material…. that ummmm, plastic…. Jenna doesn’t have a plastic vagina like Laura. Or Tara. So leave Laura alone. Jenna’s got a nice soft vagina. Laura says its soft too… and Laura said Jenna’s soft vagina… her vulva… her…. labia…. Laura said Jenna’s vagina tastes good too. Not recycled… ooops, i meant… what i tried to say… i …. well, recycling is bad. Tara supports recyclin’, so it’s bad. So if you like Tara and recyclin’, vote for the Democrat.
Derrrrr.
November 1st, 2006 at 11:24 am[...] Then watch Laura Bush’s response here. [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 11:56 amLaura Bush actually killed her boyfreind in texas by slamming into him with her car on a clear night on an unobstructed road in texas . Police record is on the internet.
Gen tommy franks was in her high school and knew details when she did it (probably why he has always been rewarded with sweet jobs ever since).
She has no feelings to be manipulated.
November 1st, 2006 at 12:09 pmNo wonder she thinks in such terms instead of actually feeling anything.
Let’s also not forget that Laura Bush said nothing at all when looters burnt down the Baghdad library — a library that was full of priceless historical records from the old Ottoman Empire. As a former librarian, she should have been appalled. Didn’t seem to matter to her at all either that it happened or that US forces made no effort to stop it. The last time the library in Baghdad burnt, it was the Mongols who were responsible.
November 1st, 2006 at 1:30 pmLaura Bush said that her husband is the only President to authorize funding for stem cell research. Wouldn’t this be like saying, in 1959, that President Eisenhower was the only President to build the Interstate Highway System? Of course, George W Bush is the only President to fund stem cell research! He’s the first one to have a crack at funding it.
November 1st, 2006 at 2:05 pmDaryll appears to be a psychotic individual and his comments should be ignored. You cannot have a disagreement with someone who is clearly not rational.
November 1st, 2006 at 2:14 pmAnais’s comment is spot on. Yes, the GOP is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and humanity can go screw itself, period.
Hey!
Zippy (#25) you forgot to mention “….driving drunk in a jealous rage!”. It seems the poor boy she killed did not, shall we say, return her affections. So, she slammed her car in to him in a “if I can’t have you, no one else can” moment. Pity she didn’t do the same to Georgie after she caught him with Condie. Ah, well, hope springs eternal.
Regards to all….VOTE DEM NOV. 7TH!!!!

November 1st, 2006 at 3:31 pmI guess fear had nothing to do with the last presidential election in which they were running around screaming that if they didnt vote for Bush, married gay people were going to go door to door take their guns and give them abortions…
Disgusting

November 1st, 2006 at 3:55 pm[...] When you think of Rush you think of other folks too — Tokyo Rose … that sad and amusing Ali guy who was point man for Saddam, broadcasting that the Americans were nowhere near while you could hear the bombs in the background … Stephen Colbert who satirizes the Ditto Heads in a classy, campy version of Rush … Ann Coulter. [Actually Ann and Rush would make a fine couple, having so much in common — the Stan and Ollie of the rabid right. They could double date with George and Laura, now that Mrs. Stepford has jumped on the “chiding Fox” bandwagon.] [...]
November 1st, 2006 at 3:58 pmHappy Guy: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.” This statement was made by Ronald Reagan. Typical liberal, rude responses. VA JUDY
November 1st, 2006 at 4:51 pmthat’s right, VAJudy. Libruls think they know things that are things. But… … … only we knows what we know to be what we know. Libruls just run and… and cut… the run… derrr…. uh derrrr. Cut and run. Y’see, libruls know cut and run.
But you, VAJudy, you know what we know. And what we know is we don’t make… a errors… a error. A mistake. We don’t make mistake.
Even though the average libruls is more educated than the average American – when I say American I mean Republican of course, cause libruls is in bed with Tara – even though libruls is more intelligent than the Republican, and they can come up with something called facts and evidence to prove how wrong they say we Americans – and by Americans, I again mean only Republicans is American – they say how bad our decisions has been, those are only facts, and everyone knows that facts are … that facts is the … derrrrr…. facts are only opinions, but is a word spelled shorter.
VAJudy, its good to have a good, true American such as yourself backing me up… on my side… derrrrrr… supporting me. I love you. Love, W.
November 1st, 2006 at 6:50 pmI LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!!! Just discovered it.
November 1st, 2006 at 10:25 pmI’m asking all these intelligent, motivated folks (except “Happy Guy”) to help GET OUT THE VOTE for candidates you support in the next six days. Make phone calls, knock on doors, do whatever it takes to win back at least part of one branch of government from these corrupt, lying bastards that are running the country right now.
If you live in Minnesota, Tim Walz, Colleen Rowley, and Patty Wetterling could use your support.
Let’s take our country back from these demagogues.
I am starting to think Laura Bush is as much of an idiot as her husband! What kind of answer is that to the question about Michael J. Fox????!!!! VOTE DEMOCRATIC ON NOV. 7!!!!
November 2nd, 2006 at 2:45 amThe “Culture of Life” this administyration is referring to is there own. They don’t give a damn about the rest of us. No abortions; can’t prevent unwanted pregnancies; CAN get your kids killed when they become of enlistment/draft age. Lying, sleazy, backstabbing two-faced whore mongers. I wish Jesus Christ would return today so he would clue these people in on what “love” really means. A pox on this entire administration!
November 2nd, 2006 at 8:47 amIm’ really sad at the state of our republic that we are leaving our children. Sad sad sad, makes me mad mad ! At all of us for us making the problems of NOW, the undoning of our species. Can you imagine a USA where there is hardly any power generation, a huge population to feed, and no change in the political status quo. What a nightmare!
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:35 pmLaura Bush is just as much of an idiot as her dimwit husband.
The US should be at the forefront of Stem cell research.
But, because of these idiots and their religious leaning and belief in complete fantasy, the US will lag behind the rest of the world.
This is the science of the future.
get wit it or be left behind. It could possibly be one of the things that actually helps the US economy.
Oh.. but they will probably outsource that stuff to a third world country too.
I cant believe Bush is such an idiot he wants to protect cells, but it is ok for thousands of people to die in Iraq.
As for Laura…
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:57 pmNo one elected you!
Shut the hell up you stupid, insignificant, unimportant bitch.
Where is the outrage? Has Amerika really gotten so apathetic that all we care about is what Brittany, Paris, and Angelina are doing? no, wait! dancing with the stars! I forget the important things!
Anyway, have you read the Declaration of Independence lately? What’s going on in this country now is the very thing our founding fathers risked their lives for. They would be appalled that their grand experiment has come to what it has.
Get a grip-we can wrest it back from the power-hungry big-business interest that have taken over. Rock the vote…BUT VOTE!
Stand up and be heard!

November 6th, 2006 at 6:46 pmI have spent some time reading these comments here and just can’t get to them all, but I did a search on this page for ‘cord blood’ and found nothing. Personal beliefs aside, there are other options. I do not really understand why this all has to be so controversial. Don’t people know you can get stem cells from cord blood? What is controversial about that?
(What a waste that we do not have a good cord blood banking program and get all the stem cells we want without ‘killing’ or ‘harvesting’ embryos.)
I personally believe that there are many ethical circumstances to use embryos for stem cell research, but that doesn’t even matter when you can get them with out using embryos. It just isn’t fair to close the door on the whole thing especially when there are alternatives. I was raised republican, but as an adult, I do not think democracy involves taking away peoples rights and hindering valuable medical advancements.
November 7th, 2006 at 8:25 pmI’d hate to see Michael J Fox as a bartender
