“The church’s Acting Senior Pastor, Ross Parsley, tells KKTV 11 News that Pastor [Ted] Haggard has admitted to some of the indiscretions claimed by [former prostitute] Mike Jones, but not all of them.”
“Indiscretions”? But when the rest of us make gay love, it’s a sin. That one word, “indiscretion”, tells you everything you need to know about Christian hypocrisy. This is one of the many reasons why I loath these pricks.
Meanwhile, Paul Krugman tells us that Bechtel just left there, just the latest in a series of bloated American giants who made billions and delivered nothing to the Iraqi people.
Thanks for lying ultra right christian leaders for taking the spotlight off of Kerry. That only took a day. Looks like the Repubs are back to campaigning on their own “morals”. That’ll work…….ahhahaha.
So now he’s flip flopping. First he said he was faithful to his wife and now he admits to “some indiscretions”. Guess being “faithful” has a different meaning for Fundies.
Good post all, When will this bunch of liers get it. It is not about being gay, it is the lieing and gay bashing for profit we the people will not tolerate…..Morning Coffins, hope all is well in you’re area. Blessings
I heard that he was molested by a Catholic Priest, and because of his Alcholism he did gay things. He’s now in the Betty Ford Center for ugly Gay Republican guys that were molested by priests during drunken episodes.
Niel Bush just calls it UGR, but Dubya keeps calling it NGR…Not Ugly Gay Republicans.
I just heard on Drudge’s site that Bill Clinton Molested Haggard back in 94, and Hillary made him drink the “Devils juice” (Jim Baker…uh I mean Jim Beam) while at a sleep-over for Chealsey.
Update, now Drudge is saying that John Kerry was there as well, and that the sleepover was for Monica Lewdwinskuz, and that Chealsey was really running the country at the time.
According to FOX (Furor’s Own Xanadu) Goerge Bush has just announced a day of morning for Swaggert, and Drudge ha updated running the Headline: It’s all the Clintons fault.
Haggard claims that not all the allegations are true? A mere quibble — it does nothing to change the fact that some of them are by his own own admission true. All he has really succeeded in doing is proving once more that the evangelical Christian movement in this country lends itself very well to blatant hypocrisy. Granted, religious people are capable of doing things while still feeling guilty about them — but the fact remains that this is a man, a pastor, whose supposedly strong faith in God apparently wasn’t enough to prevent him from at least dabbling in behavior which he publicly condemns as sinful. Evangelicals would like to believe that they’re virtuous and so much better than other people, but this pride is undeserved.
This may not mean much to a nonevangelical, but it is huge, according to DK at TPM. More and more evangelicals may sit this this election out. Add David Kuo’s assertions to the mix, and it may mean that Karl Rove will have to drag right wing Christians by the hair by the polls.
You’re never a little bit indescrete when it comes to stuff like this. You either suck cock or you don’t “Well I do, but I don’t think it’s right” just doesn’t float…unless you are a hypocritical GOP sodomite (seems to be the party’s message). Oh, and as long as your are so far gone into debauchery fire up a little crystal meth….PARTY of VALUES!? Party of Caligula more like it.
I’m sure this guy would’ve remained faithful to his wife. But those darn gays have destroyed the sanctity of marriage! Who can remain faithful in that sort of environment? It’s hard (in more ways than one).
These knuckledragging bigots. Jim Demint just said, “When we find someone who’s wrong, we get rid of them. That’s the difference between us and the other party.” Ah, yeah. Sure, Jim-bo. Too bad that manly position doesn’t extend all the way up to the heads of this putrid administration: Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the head of the Bush crime family, George W.
The big part of this story not elaborated by the press yet, is Haggard’s close association with Pres. Bush > Ted talked to George weekly and supposedly they met to pray together, so how come Dubya hangs out with closeted hypocrite homosexuals? Who did Jeff Gannon, the paid escort, service over 200+ times in the White House? And who did he sleep with overnight in WH at least 12 times? The biggest shoe to drop in this news story is Bush is a closeted hypocrite as well!
You owe America an apology. You are required to show contrition for your liabelous INCORRECT claims this was a liberal slander attack.
Well the Closet Christian Taliban has admitted his lie, deception, immorality, hypocricy. Now you must do the same.
Go ahead and be a man, just admit you were wrong and apologize or forever be identified as a discredited poster who is headed toward damnation for pride, arrogance, and lying.
Go ahead, be a man, demonstrate you have one moral fiber remaining…apologize.
Hairy Rump Hump Hagard is a deceptive lying closet homosexual hypocrite?
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I based my whole reality and sense of self on his every word. I am lost, what do I do now? Please someone from the GOP tell me what to do, what to think.
Whenever one of these gay-bashing bible thumpers gets outed, it reminds me of Munchkinland. I keep waiting for Glinda the good witch to appear and start singing “Come out, come out wherever you are…”
#41, I agree–but these preachers lead the charge against the “sins” of homosexuality and whip their congregations up into republican-voting frenzies. It ain’t the gay relationship that’s the problem, it’s the utter hypocrisy of “living the secret” and casting stones at the lifestyles of others.
#41, He can be gay if he wants to, thats fine. But I think adultery probably means he has to surrender the moral high ground. And being gay probably means he needs to quit stumping against gay marriage.
What are the chances this will hinder the right’s get out the vote machinations? Will this keep portions of the evangelical voting block home on Tuesday or enrage them? Not sure about this.
why is the news reporting this as an “incident”
organized religion is full of people that believe in sin, because they commit what they call sin. It is funny as hell that only one of their “members” is called out by someone. What is hiding below the surface is that the likelihood of deviants in the religious community is far greater than that of the general public. But the church isn’t going to tell their workers that are they? They want to keep collecting money from them, they can’t know the church, those worker bees!
the “church” environment is where we should be careful to monitor them, from their breeding ground so to speak.
after all, just because it is 1800 year old perversion doesn’t make it better than one created in this century. Although an older one is more accepted and institutionalized (re; catholic)
I do feel for those folks that find a reason to use god as a crutch. some may find it is actually humanity that they put in god’s shoes. I find a better symbolism with religious artifacts and deities as curse words for the human condition
Trolls… Trolls .. where are you on this one? Come on guys.. how can you spin this? Spare the rod? Spoil the child? Come oooonnnnnnnn. Please please try to argue your way out of this one! So only part of the story about him snorting meth off a male prostitutes willy is true… like maybe he got the meth for free as a bonus for the pole smoking fee? hahahaha.
Hey, back off on Ted… He never said he wanted to marry the gay guy, as that would be a sin and against the moral code of ethics of the Repugs. Wait…. they don’t seem to have any morals, do they?
But then, it is all Billy C’s fault, or maybe John Kerry? Just ask Rush and Karl and Coulergeist and the Drudger, they will get to the “bottom” of this, I am sure and let us all know the REAL truth.
Pastor Haggard has admitted to some of the indiscretions [...] but not all of them.
Well then, in my opinion, there is no need for the so-called pastor to admit to all of his “indiscretions” to prove that he is a shameless liar and a hypocrite.
Much like the people who associated themselves with him and used him to get votes from his faithful and obedient followers.
Fox News will call Haggard a Democrat in the streaming ticker. Just a typo, of course. Republicans in Congress will demand an investigation into what Nancy Pelosi knew about this and didn’t report. Haggard checks into rehab. His wife scolds Democrats for tormenting her and her family. And, then this all means that liberals hate Christians AND gays. Does that sound about right?
He admitted to some indiscrestion, because the Christians will forgive him for sticking meth up is nose, but they won’t forgive him for sticking a **** up his ***.
#37. Your Conscience. I was wrong about this story yesterday. At first glance, it looked like a convenient way to discredit someone, five days before an election, without enough time for the accused to respond. Today, Haggard has resigned, which looks like to me, an admission of guilt. Whether he is guilty of the solicitation or just the drug use, it is hypocrisy. This is a good story for liberals and also a good story for Republicans. The intolerance for gays and the hypocrisy of the ‘holier than thou attitude’ from many in the Republican party is a weakness for Republicans, that hopefully we can learn from.
P.S. I’m sorry to ThinkProgress for implicating that this was a thin slanderous story. It is an appropriate story unfortunately time for Republicans. But, if you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
I wonder if he’s just admiting to the drugs and not the sex…
He said he has voice mail messages from Haggard, as well as an envelope he said Haggard used to mail him cash. He declined to make the voice mails available to the AP, but KUSA-TV reported what it said were excerpts late Thursday that referred to methamphetamine.
“Hi Mike, this is Art,” one call began, according to the station. “Hey, I was just calling to see if we could get any more. Either $100 or $200 supply.”
A second message, left a few hours later, began: “Hi Mike, this is Art, I am here in Denver and sorry that I missed you. But as I said, if you want to go ahead and get the stuff, then that would be great. And I’ll get it sometime next week or the week after or whenever.”
The hate filled Christian leader is trying to determine just how much evidence his male hooker retained and just how much he has to admit to before the evidence is made public.
#31 how many hours til tony snow says that bush never really knew himm?
Too late. They are now downplaying the WEEKLY conference calls saying things like “he only participated a couple of times”. You know what that means. He was Bush’s right hand…err, that just doesn’t sound…moral, does it?
#57 I am impressed with your apology. I hope you realize that this is not an isolated incident. The liberal blogosphere knows what it is talking about. I hope you take notice.
Wow…guess where there was smoke, there WAS fire.

November 3rd, 2006 at 7:03 amthis kinda takes the edge off all that Kerry nonsense, don’t it? haha!
every day the right shows more of its crooked, hypocritical core… and I love it!
November 3rd, 2006 at 7:04 am#2- isn’t that the truth! Of course, soon there’ll be the “Jim Bakker” moment when he’s on his knees …. praying for forgiveness… blah blah blah..
November 3rd, 2006 at 7:28 amSo… uh.. Haggert? You said the only thing you and Bush disagree on is what color truck to drive.
Do you really agree on EVERYTHING else?

November 3rd, 2006 at 7:46 amGood thing Haggard opposes gay marriage. He wouldn’t want to feel pressured by his lover to divorce his wife and marry his lover.

Daryll? Hello? Daryll, are you here?
November 3rd, 2006 at 8:48 amJust wanna have a teeny, weeny, discussion with ya
Up for the challenge?
I’m guessing that the only facts Haggard is denying are 1) how often he sought the services of the male prostitute and 2) how much he paid.

November 3rd, 2006 at 10:30 amAny chance that the Rev Haggard is headed to the same alcholic treatment center as the righteous congressman Mr. Folery?
There must be a priest in the Rev’s past or let’s go to the old fall back position of the GOP, It’s Clinton fault!
November 3rd, 2006 at 10:31 amPastor Haggard has admitted to some of the indiscretions [...] but not all of them.

November 3rd, 2006 at 12:58 pmPastor Haggard has admitted to some of the indiscretions […] but not all of them.
My assumption is he will admit to the gay stuff but deny having paid for it or having done drugs.
His career is ruined already. His current task is to keep his butt out of jail, where no doubt it would be seen as a prized target.
