The right-wing evangelist also acknowledged that he received a massage from the prostitute, but denied that they had sex. Haggard said he never used the drugs.

And as usual, the Christian sheep defend their master

    > Boals, a New Life member for 17 years.

Yeah, a three-year-long hot homosex fling with a male hooker is some how nothing but a campaign event. And the Christian f*ks continue to follow their god damned hypocrit masters.

  12. Pete_Bogs Says:

he bought the meth, but he didn’t inhale…

  13. Jeffrey Stewart Says:

Apparently it is completely normal and routine to buy methamphetamine from a gay prostitute with whom you are not going to have sex.

  14. Fredric L. Rice Says:

    Keep Digging Haggard!!

Amusing how this Christian monster only admits to what he thinks his hooker can prove with evidence his hooker might have retained. The Christian monster is probably up all night trying to decide just how much evidence his hooker has on him and how much to admit to before it’s all made public.

And this monster’s sheep bleat about how their master’s exposure of being a hypocritical and typical Christian hate mongering homopbobe is all some how related to the election cycle.

Anyone _still_ think the religious are anything but completely and utterly insane?

  15. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

“I bought it for myself but never used it,” he said. “I was tempted, but I never used it.”

Oh, sure. I buy all my drugs from prostitutes and then never use them. First he denied knowing the guy at all, let alone having paid for sex and/or drugs. Then he admitted having bought drugs from him, but he’s denying the sex. After having spent all this time around Republicans, hasn’t he learned that coming completely clean first is always better in the long run? It’s no guarantee that you won’t still be in trouble, but you’ll be in far less trouble if the entire story doesn’t have to come out in dribs and drabs. (I suppose I can’t rule out him claiming that Satan made him do it.)

  16. Pete_Bogs Says:

this was a compromise confession… he rightly figures that his fellow religious righties will see drugs as a less severe sin than homosexuality… and he’ll probably say he was “drunk” when he took that massage…

  17. DRxJ Says:

    okay, I get it.

    Not using bought drugs:OKAY
Massage from gay prostitute:NOT SO GOOD

two questions to ask all the Teddy supporters (Daryll, I’m talking directly to you)
Why would one, who preaches against homosexuality, receive a massage from a known male prostitute?
Why would one, who preaches about “values”, purchase an illegal substance to “experiment”?

  18. Ted's Eight-Ball Says:

    “Only bought it one time”

    =

“Honest, officer, I only had two beers!”

  19. Fredric L. Rice Says:

The homophobic Christian thinks it’s a big joke

Look at that god damned Christian monster laughing all the way through the interview. He’s got a big grin on his face, knowing that the money will continue to roll in from the god damned ignorant fc*kn sheep who will continue to follow their homosexual leader despite all evidence.

  20. Pre-emptive Jesus Says:

Oh yeah suuuure he was set up? right! They sure set him up by forcing him to ask for meth over the phone omg! This pastor isn’t hypocritical like the rest of the repubs are …he’s against gay marriage because he’s totally all about gay promiscuity! He likes them “messages” from single gay guys rather than ones who are committed.

I bought the drugs, I wanted to see what they looked like! Then I threw them away? Queue up lie number two, I contacted a male prostitute via RentBoy.com in order to get a str8 massage.

Dude, I dare you to put your hand on the Bible and say that stuff. This will prove you’re not even a Christian.

Good Lord, what a bunch of blow that is.

  27. OxyCon Says:

Haggard didn’t have gay sex with a man in Denver…but Boulder? All bets are off.

  28. eddy Says:

He said he only bought meth once - then he said -

Given its addictive qualities, I bet he snorted it right away, so yeah I bet he didn’t keep it for very long.

  31. eisenreich Says:

    1. Why is Haggard saying he only bought Meth once from Jones once (then threw it away without using it), when his voice message says “Hey, I was just calling to see if we could get any more. Either $100 or $200 supply.”

‘More’ usually implies more than once..

    2. If there is some kind of investigation into Haggard for the drugs/prostitution, they should only have to check his bank statements for withdrawals of $200 (the amount he paid Jones nearly 30 times). This shouldn’t be hard to verify.

  32. Badmoodman Says:

“I don’t see why Haggard is so upset. He didn’t marry the guy, he just had some one-night stands,” - Beliefnet reader, explaining why Haggard wasn’t really a hypocrite. - - ROFL!

  35. Badmoodman Says:

The meth part of the story rings true to me. It’s what extremely conflicted and sometimes desperately lonely gay men resort to in order to facilitate their self-destruction, and leave behind any sexual inhibitions derived from crushing guilt.

  36. Gregor Samsa Says:

“I did not have a homosexual relationship with a man in Denver”

    I love those non-denial denials.

How about Aspen, Mr. Haggard? Boulder?

And how about out-of-state trysts? California? Nevada?

Should we list all the possible places in the world for you?

    What a sleaze…

  37. Ted's Eight-Ball Says:

  42. SpudgeBoy Says:

Buying meth form a gay male prostitute = $100
Getting a back rub from a gay male prostitute = $50
Having sex with a gay male prostitute = $200

  43. Exley Says:

#47 Hey DrxJ, Nah, it’s me….I was trying to do a parody of D.C. Mayor Marion Barry’s famous line when he was caught on video in an FBI sting operation smoking crack cocaine with a woman (not his wife) at the Vista Hotel. The incident — played over and over on cable television — produced what is perhaps the most memorable quote of Barry’s long career: “The bitch set me up.”

    I guess the joke didn’t work….

I have no doubt that this Haggard guy is a sleaze on every level.

  44. SpudgeBoy Says:

    The butch set him up.

The term you are looking for is “Power Top” WHich of course would make Ted Haggard the “Power Bottom”

  45. hellinabucket Says:

What does the President have to say about this. Is he going to demand an apology from someone who bought Meth and sat in with him every Monday. What an outrage! The gay sex and the actually taking the drug will come out as this drags on (ohh yes my republican friends this will drag on) but here is a man who is allowed in the inner circle of the President and is committing criminal acts in purchasing DRUGS.

There is no way any red blooded american Republican should stand for any of this. Hello Exley, Daryll, Hendler, Mighty and the like. Aren’t you the least bit offended that this drug peddler (or peddlee) has been allowed to be so close to the President. Imagine that Meth could have been on his hands when he shook hands with the President.

Surely if there is outrage and bad joke telling, there should be talk of lynching with a drug connected sinner.

  46. Kelley Says:

Oh yes, of course, he bought it but never used it. Got a massage but never had sex with the gay male escort.

Somewhere, right now, Bill Clinton is laughing his ass off!!

  47. SpudgeBoy Says:

Is this somehow supposed to hurt the Republicans?

Wow, a blast from the past.

    Cynicon Implant,

This guy talked with Bush every Monday.

Jeff Gannon visited the WHite House for overnight stays over 200 times.

Yes, this hurts the republcains, because it is becoming more clear than ever that Bush is a closeted gay.

  48. Brad Lhotsky Says:

Pay attention to the body language. It’s usually more telling than the verbal communication. After he finishes denying the reporter’s questions, he nods his head “yes”.

Take what you will from it, but an interrogator would jump on those subtleties.

  49. Lone Texan Says:

It may seem queer…heh, I mean strange that with all of the Asian Female massuses (sp?) he could visit he picked a homosexual male prostitute who just so had a meth connection. WTF! C’mon Teddy. You are already in the shithouse, you don’t walk away from a million dollar table of gullible Christian theocrats to get a massage. Baby you did some really terrible shit to make you want to quit that game. (John Kerry is watching this unfold from his Nantucket, seaside living room smoking a joint and drinking Jamesons whiskey, and laughing his ass off!)

  52. Yikes Says:

Cynicon Implant, Yes, this nutjob can go and have sex with whomever he wants. The reason it is news is that this man stands as a leader of deeply religious people claiming such things as homosexuality is a SIN and drugs are a SIN yet here he is the biggist HYPOCRITE you can find. Why do the evangelicals want to control what we can and cannot do and then do it themselves? This is BIG news. Bush talks to this guy regularily. This is BIG news.

    Sorry to burst your implant.

  53. JaneESchneider Says:

Hellinabucket, notice that we haven’t heard from Daryll or Jason on this one. What on earth could they say to defend this? But I think that Exley’s just going to keep away from serious comment about this. Right, Ex, you’re not defending this guy, are you? BTW, I got the reference to Barry, Ex, pretty funny.

    Yes.

I don’t get it… why is this on this website? Seems like something FOX would put on…

You serious? This guy has been in Bush’s back pocket for how long, with weekly concalls? How often do you have a concall with the President? This guy’s been heavily promoting the Republican agenda to promote gay marriage ban laws across the country. He’s the head of a 30-million member strong evangelical group that is virtually 100% Republican in their voting habits, all following the same set of talking points.

This guy is revealed as a hypocrite and fraud on a MASSIVE scale, one of a long line of pseudo-spiritual Republican hypocrites, perhaps leading evangelicals to re-think their alliance with satan… er… Bush… er… the Republican party…

And… you can’t figure out the significance?

  60. Yikes Says:

Exley, I’d forgotten the bitch set me up line. Very funny.

  61. NoMoreRepublicanTrash Says:

Nothing wrong with getting a massage. Nothing wrong with being gay. Illegal to be buying an illegal drug. Not so good to take a drug that fries your brain on impact. What’s not good here is lying and deceiving your “flock” and the rest of the world. What’s not good is being gay and then turning on gays with the worst hate rhetoric on record. What’s really not good is that this man had a voice in the White House. May I ask what happened to the separation between church and state? I think we all know now that the White House Whore Jeff Gannon was brought in to perform sexual favors for these closet-queens. Let’s connect the dots right up to the top. Now I think we all know why everyone the republiscum party is so anti-gay, even BUSH. They’re are all nothing but a bunch of latent homosexuals. Shame on them for going overboard with their anti-gay AGENDA, an AGENDA they concocted to deflect attention from their own homosexuality. SHAME ON THEM. Gays are citizens of the United States and deserve equal rights just like everyone else. Maybe now the country will see she flim-flam artists for what they are. Maybe now the bigotry and hate will stop.

  63. ScrewBush Says:

It is his office that should handle looking into the criminal behavior which is being admitted to by both parties. I haven’t heard a peep from this guy and i cannot find out how to contact him.

Regardless of what was done with the purchased meth, buying meth and sell meth is a crime, period.

  64. hellinabucket Says:

#60. I commend you on not attempting to defend this guy. Now don’t you agree that the President will need to make some public statement? This man is in meetings every Monday with the President and he has admitted to being involved with Meth. Where is the republican outrage?

Sure the man is sleaze and if the seedier details are true about the drug use and male prostitution this could damage this President far more than a badly executed joke.

Think about it. A closet gay and dope head having the ear of the president. And all before this weekend. I’m sure many churches will have some new topics.

  75. JaneESchneider Says:

Ex, just wanted to be sure that you’re not THAT evil! ;-D

It’s the total hypocrisy (are we spelling that right?) that really bothers me, and it’s something that has always bothered me about supposedly religious Christians. I was raised Catholic, and observed from grammar school on that my fellow church-goers were pretty hypocritical regarding the basic ‘love thy neighbor’ stuff. In fact, just getting out of the parking lot right after mass seemed to be an experiment in avoiding the Golden Rule (everyone was trying to get out as quickly as possible to head to the local grocery for fresh-made crullers! Mmmm, crullers….drool…) My brother, sister and I pretty much gave up going to church as soon as we could, which was tough because my parents were EXTREMELY religious.

  76. Exley Says:

#73, HiB, To be honest, I have not been following this story all that closely. Did he have that much access to the president? If so, then yeah — The White House should say something. But I don’t think it is fair to tar the administration because this guy led a secret life of drug use and perversion. I mean, Dick “Foot Fetishist” Morris was one of Bill Clinton’s closet advisors. Morris’ rather bizarre tastes were not a reflection on Clinton.

Falwell, along with some 400 other Religious Right leaders and their allies, was invited to watch Bush sign a bill outlawing certain types of late-term abortions.

After the bill-signing, Falwell had a private meeting with Bush. (Others in attendance were Southern Baptist Convention President Jack Graham, former SBC president Adrian Rogers, Pat Robertson lawyer Jay Sekulow, rightwing Christian talk show host Janet Parshall, National Religious Broadcasters President Frank Wright, National Association of Evangelicals President Ted Haggard and Southern Baptist lobbyist Richard Land.)

The right has decided to tie itself to religion. They’ve tried to make people believe that you have to be Republican to be a good Christian. They’ve used hatred of gays to win votes. Now it turns out that a Christian leader, tied to the White House, working to deliver votes for the Republican party, and using gay-bashing as a way to steer votes to the Republicans, is having a homosexual relationship. It’s hypocrisy on a massive scale in a year when the Republicans have elevated hypocrisy to an industry. They’re threatening to replace baseball with hypocrisy as a national pasttime. “Republican” and “hypocrite” are about to be listed as synonyms in Roget’s Thesaurus. Whatever it is the Republicans are accusing others of doing on any particular day, you can bet the house that it’s something they’re guilty of doing in spades.

Funny you should mention Fox. Apparently, they’re going out of their way to avoid covering it. That alone makes it newsworthy.

Then, when Holier is found to have really corrupt basic morals, creditability is lost every where and the House collapses of its own wieght. Ask Jimy Swaggert. Why does this story belong here? These are the ax handles that have been used by the Neocon Holy Ones to beat those of us of declared lessor moral standards. And on that note, I’m leaving–groceries don’t buy themselves, nor do 20-odd cats feed themselves! (I could almost wish for them to develop opposable thumbs, but that could get dangerous!)

Right. But as has been pointed out, Clinton and the Democrats don’t pretend to moral superiority, which is the unique domain of the Republicans.

If Repubs are going to wear their religion on their sleeves, and do their best to force-feed all of us with their righteousness, with their crap about Intelligent Design, hystrionics about embryonic stem cell research, hatred toward treating gays as equal human beings, prayer in schools, forcing a gigantic cross to be placed and kept on government property at the top of a mountain in San Diego, virulant abortion rhetoric, faith-based initiatives, conducting a crusade in Iraq, and on and on… well if you’re going to be so friggin’ holier-than-thou, then you’d better at least take responsibility for your own.

The Democratic approach to government generally speaking is secular in nature, even if every politician has to pretend to “have faith” to have any shot at all at getting votes.

The Christian flock needs to wake up and realize they’re being used by people in power - both Republican leaders and bible-thumping megachurch leaders. The real agenda is a combination of big money and fanatical neocon fascist power. WAKE UP! You have made the most heinous deal with the devil.
