that non-Christians are going “straight to hell with a nonstop ticket.” Perry said it’s in his “faith, that’s what it says, and I’m a believer of that.”
ANd this is exactly what Darylls problem is and most other Christians. They look down at those who don’t believe their particular myht as unbelievers and sinners.
Much the same as the Muslims see people who don’t believe their particular myth as infidels and sinners.
I’ll bet the Jews also have a term for this, I am just not sure what it is.
Gov Perry is unaware that Crom, the gloomy god of Cimmeria, breathes life into each person when they are born, they doesn’t give a shit about them from that point on.
RICk, a lot of so called CHRISTIANS are going straight to hell too. Actually, I do not know that….you don’t know that either. I am a christian and I know what my faith says.
I also know that GOD is bigger than what I beleive…apparently you do not know that yet. One day you will…maybe.
As a transplanted Texan, I can say with absolute authority that Perry has no redeeming value whatever. Under that shell of product-laden hair resides a vacuum rivaling any black hole in the cosmos.

He said he’s going to kick your ass six ways from Sunday and then hurl your sorry ass into the deepest, most vile and excruciatingly painful depths of Hell.
Yeah….Perry….he’s one of the worst of the worst. He was also behind that huge highway that’s gonna rape America right up the middle. It will divide our country, ruin the enviornment, give more money to the rich and solidify the military industrial complex. Oh yeah, the National Gaurd will be able to “respond more quickly and in greater numbers” to the “NEEDS” of Americans. ……as in the need for them to stay “calm” and not get too “uppity” when the cabal makes it’s final move to solidify absolute power over our lives. The National Gaurd will keep us ( cough) “safe.” I hate to sound too weenie…but why is Haliberton building detention camps all over the US? just sayin….. That highway has to be stopped. And this cabal has to be stopped. We need hearings, to fix the voting system, and we need to stand up and fight.

The Bible says that the Jews will be saved, Governor. Romans 11:25-27. How do your reconcile that with your “faith”? I guess you don’t have any Jews or Muslims or Rastafarians or Pastafarians in your state (I wouldn’t want to live there and I’m Presbyterian). Oh, and your buddy GeeDubya isn’t going to be saved because he’s wealthy, I guess.
Rather pathetic how The Christian Taliban have truncated the commandments to a twisted Three.
1. Boys shall not kiss nor marry
2. Abortion, though not mentioned by Christ, is wrong in EVERY instance.
3. Make as much money as possible in any means necessary.
Long discarded is the Golden rule, serving your neihbor, assisting the weak, elderly, and poor. That shit just eats up time for the 3rd Commandment.
The Jews don’t particularly care. Their religion doesn’t particularly damn non-believers or demand anyone convert; All we have to do is follow the Noahide Laws.
See this issue always gives me a headache. I don’t like the idea of honking people off and want everyone of all religions to come together in the most inclusive way possible. But my Christian (Lutheran, specifically) faith is very clear when Christ says “No one comes to the Father except through me.” That means that faith in Christ is the only ticket to Heaven.
Do I think people need to go around saying “Jews are going to Hell?” No. I think that a better way to put it is “While my faith disagrees with their beliefs I pray that God works in their hearts to show them the true path. In the meantime I look forward to working with everyone regardless of religious belief to make this country a better place.”
The first is not constructive. The second a tad moreso.
For any religion, how can anyone claim to ‘believe’ or know what their God or Gods want? The bible was written by men not God. If there is such a being, it is impossible for mere mortals such as us to understand their purpose, is it not?
It would be funny to find out in the afterlife, if there is one, that there is one omnipresent being that endorses all the religions of the people around the world and that they are just different ways of understanding this being.
Hope that came out more than just a lot of Babel.
BELIEF = Not factually supported.
BELIEF = A personal interpretation of reality.
BELIEF = An excuse used to justify small minded people’s fears and oppresive behavior.
These aren’t my beliefs, these are FACTS about the word belief.
And this is precisely why so many non-Xians and atheists are incensed by Xian beliefs. The problem is the divisiveness and vindictiveness and pure hatred of so much of their rhetoric.
Not only do Xians not agree with you, they posit that according to their belief system, you will suffer eternal torment if you fail to commit to Xianity before you die. And, despite all of their cluck-clucking and false-concern before death, most Xians relish the thought of living forever in heavenly bliss while those who did not sign on during life suffer eternal torment. They see it as “justice”.
Now, how’s that for a horrible philosophy? Do they seriously consider what this means? They are perfectly willing to follow a belief system which condemns non-believers to never-ending suffering, while they “float above it all”? Yikes. They are depraved beyond belief. Of course, they argue that non-Xians had their chance, and so deserve their punishment. But really — what sort of compassion really informs them if they would actually accept such an outcome for all, Xian and non-Xian alike?
It points to a complete and utter lack of real humanity at the core of such belief systems. It points out that few real Xians are actually capable of unconditional love. For if they were really following the example of Christ (and Buddha and Ghandi and others), they would not be able to stomach such a belief system, and would reject it.
As I have.
Sit down and read the Bible from front to back. Pretend the creator of the Universe inspired it. If you are honest, you will come away with an intolerant, murderous, mysoginistic, homophobic, unscientific view of the world. If you are a “progressive” you will just ignore everything bad, make excuses for it, and continue to think that Gov. Rick Perry is the only one that is delusional.

Hey dont you be dissing Pan-Gou! He is not mentioned in the Bible!
Not all Christians are like that … only a very vocal and large minority. Usually that minority focuses on things like those that don’t accept Christianity and pull out small bits in the bible to attack others for their way of life, i.e. for being gay. However, there are a larger amount who are content with their own belief in God and Jesus, and many who actually care about people rather than attacking those who don’t follow their way of thinking. Most of this country is Christian, and it isn’t every day you bump into the ones who are going to flame you for not being them.
Liberals, you can’t defeat the inevitable word of God. If you’re not following biblical laws (specifically the New Testament) then you’re wrong. Jesus said, “If you love me then you’ll keep my commandments”.
#37 I understand what you’re saying, but “Christians” like Rick Perry (and his ilk) give all the other Christians a bad name. If Christians in this country do not like being labeled “homophobic” and “intolerant”, then they should do a better job of denouncing the ones who preach hate and claim to speak for Christians everywhere. Besides, are the Christians that people like Robertson, Falwell and Dobson bring into the fold the kind of Christians you want to associate with? People who liked the message of people like that (and people like Rick perry)?
Oh, I think the intolerant Christians should be called out on their crap. The problem is, when someone complains about them, often they lump all Christians together which is just gonna piss off everyone who follows that faith. Such callousness towards the religion as a whole is unproductive and only creates more Christians who, may have started out in the group that accepts everyone, but once they get that sort of abuse are going to lean towards the other group.
Also there are Christians who denounce the Falwell types. The reason there aren’t more, I think, is that as a whole those who would fall in this category aren’t the confrontational type. At least that is how I percieve this.
Liberals, you can’t defeat the inevitable word of God. If you’re not following biblical laws (specifically the New Testament) then you’re wrong. Jesus said, “If you love me then you’ll keep my commandmentsâ€.

Are you talking about Pangu, YHWH, Adonai etc or about the other 300 some odd names the creator has?
Let the Egyptians themselves provide the answer. Athothis, Egypt’s second king, was Osiris. The tomb of Athothis at Abydos was “the sepulchre of the god Osiris, and, as such, became the shrine to which millions of pilgrims made their way,” declared Arthur Weigall in “A History of the Pharaohs”, vol. I, page 111. The Egyptian god Osiris was the Baal of the Phoenicians, the Marduk of the Babylonians, the Tammuz of the Semites, the Nimrod of the Bible, the Pangu of the ogdoad.
See Daryll, your all taking about the same God with many names and not 350 Gods. Sheesh.
Which kind of proves that your God doesn’t exist. If I was the lord creator’s chosen person I would not appreciate the last few thousand years of people trying to wipe my race off of the face of the Earth, would you?
If by being a compassionate, loving and caring person earns you a ticket to hell, then that is where I want to go. There is nothing good about ignorance.
Can we please let Texas leave the Union like they wanted to do awhile back? The Soverign Nation of Texas. Imagine all the 30%’ers immigrating there after the Dem’s take back the Government! Sounds like a great plan to me!
I sincerely hope Rick Perry is informed (and soon) of exactly where he can stick his Trans-Texas Cooridor he’s trying to strongarm down the throats of Texas citizens.
Hey Rick: Have you seen the condition of our Texas State Parks lately?!
You are an idiot of the highest order, and deserve to lose this election, and badly I might add. Unfortunately, there are enough ultra-conservative, republican, hypochristian, unwashed, extend-cab pickup truck driving, “git-r-done”-minded, hillbilly simpletons in this state that’ll happily vote Perry another term. Morons.
But Rick, how can I be sure that my Christian leaders aren’t molesting boys, scoring meth and banging gay hookers? I sure hope I don’t lose my way so I can’t end up in heaven with all of them. Shall we pray on it?
Perry is correct, the Bible does say that to get to heaven one only has to believe in Jesus (John 3:15-16 is an example). But the Bible also says that one can get to heaven by living a good life (Matthew 19:16-18 is an example). Is that it? No. Additionally, according to the Bible, the inerrant word of god, one’s destiny is predetermined (Acts 13:48) or one is specifically chosen by god (Psalms 65:4). So the inerrant word of god says there are four ways to eternal life. Must one believe in order to get eternal life? According to Acts 16:30-31, the answer is yes. So, either one must believe, or one can believe, or one can live a good life, or one is selected, or one is predetermined. This is inerrant?
#38 Biblical laws say that men who sleep with married women are to be put to death as are the women (Deut. 22:22). We’re wrong if we don’t follow that law? What about stubborn, rebellious kids who don’t obey their parents? They should be stoned to death (Deut. 21:18-21). Your parents were wrong for not having you stoned to death when you didn’t obey them?
Daryll.
Crom was their chief, and he lived on a great mountain, whence he sent forth dooms and death. It was useless to call on Crom, because he was a gloomy, savage god, and he hated weaklings. But he gave a man courage at birth, and the will and might to kill his enemies, which, in the Cimmerian’s mind, was all any god should be expected to do.
- The Tower of the Elephant, Robert E. Howard
This is the one true god. Or so I’m told. I think maybe they’re right.
Funny thing but haven’t you noticed how Christians tend to be the most immoral of all. If they stopped trying to be “good Christians” and instead learn how to be good, compassionate humans, they’d do a lot better.
If you would like to join other atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers in getting organized in America, please consider joining the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Their website is: http://www.ffrf.org
Also, we non-believers have received much encouragement recently with the release of books by atheists Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins which are both on the NYT bestseller lists! There is a growing movement towards moving America away from the insanity of religious faith and joining the rest of the first world at the grown ups table.

Maybe because they were the first branch in that monotheistic tree of Middle Eastern faith, and didn’t need to worry about the competition? :)
Because, the middle child Christianity starts it, and Islam, which came last, seems to lay it on thickest of all.
But what about all that really violent Old Testament stuff that the Jews wrote? That section of the Bible is bloody and criminal – at best.

Berlin Churches Establish Bureau to Win Back Worshippers
Wireless to the New York Times.
BERLIN, May 13. – In Freethinkers Hall, which before the Nazi resurgence was the national headquarters of the German Freethinkers League, the Berlin Protestant church authorities have opened a bureau for advice to the public in church matters. Its chief object is to win back former churchgoers and assist those who have not previously belonged to any religious congregation in obtaining church membership.
The German Freethinkers League, which was swept away by the national revolution, was the largest of such organizations in Germany. It had about 500,000 members …

November 7th, 2006 at 2:55 pm#38 – “If you’re not following biblical laws (specifically the New Testament) then you’re wrong. ”
Then why are you completely ignoring Galatians 5:14?
“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Sorr, RogerX2, if you don’t start treating others as you would have them treat you, then you’re NOT fulfilling the Law as told in the New Testamant.
November 7th, 2006 at 2:56 pmCan we please let Texas leave the Union like they wanted to do awhile back? The Soverign Nation of Texas. Imagine all the 30%’ers immigrating there after the Dem’s take back the Government! Sounds like a great plan to me!
November 7th, 2006 at 2:57 pmI sincerely hope Rick Perry is informed (and soon) of exactly where he can stick his Trans-Texas Cooridor he’s trying to strongarm down the throats of Texas citizens.
Morons.
November 7th, 2006 at 2:58 pmBut Rick, how can I be sure that my Christian leaders aren’t molesting boys, scoring meth and banging gay hookers? I sure hope I don’t lose my way so I can’t end up in heaven with all of them. Shall we pray on it?
November 7th, 2006 at 3:02 pmPerry, Daryll, etc
“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21)
Modern Translation: Leave spiritual beliefs out of politics and leave government out of religion. If you don’t, both suffer.
November 7th, 2006 at 3:03 pmWhat if you’re a homosexual Christian in charge of a 30 million-strong Christian organization that persecutes homosexuals? Where do you go then?
November 7th, 2006 at 3:16 pmPerry is correct, the Bible does say that to get to heaven one only has to believe in Jesus (John 3:15-16 is an example).

November 7th, 2006 at 3:25 pmCrom was their chief, and he lived on a great mountain, whence he sent forth dooms and death.
Mike – well put!
November 7th, 2006 at 3:27 pmIf I were to be stoned to death, my choice would be death by Thai stick.
Funny thing but haven’t you noticed how Christians tend to be the most immoral of all. If they stopped trying to be “good Christians” and instead learn how to be good, compassionate humans, they’d do a lot better.
November 7th, 2006 at 4:07 pmIf you would like to join other atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers in getting organized in America, please consider joining the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
November 7th, 2006 at 4:34 pmThe Jews don’t particularly care. Their religion doesn’t particularly damn non-believers or demand anyone convert; All we have to do is follow the Noahide Laws.

I agree. The worst Hell I could imagine would be Heaven with Christians (except PLC).

November 7th, 2006 at 5:17 pmBerlin Churches Establish Bureau to Win Back Worshippers

November 7th, 2006 at 5:53 pmI thought Rick Perry was a homosexual.
November 7th, 2006 at 6:28 pmThanks for the info Bruce. My Jewish friends always tend to be more level headed and less egotistical than my Christian relatives.
November 7th, 2006 at 6:44 pm“Liberals, you can’t defeat the inevitable word of God. If you’re not following biblical laws (specifically the New Testament) then you’re wrong. Jesus said, “If you love me then you’ll keep my commandmentsâ€. Comment by Daryllâ€
LOL- What a nice christian thing to say! You don’t speak for christians! No person can, you phoney, except Christ. Try reading the word of God instead of Ralph Reed!
