Squegeeboo, that’s what makes you different from the anti-Progs: you can admit when you make a mistake.

Yah, but only at the end of the day, until then I'll claim I'm right out of pure spite!! Anyways, now I'm seriously out, I'll check back later from my drunken angry stupor at the bar when I realize we truly did loose the house.

Squegeeboo, that's what makes you different from the anti-Progs: you can admit when you make a mistake.

I hate to do it, but when I'm wrong, I say "Oops! Made a mistake!" (Well, usually. ;-)

But to hear the average regressives that post on TP, they are never wrong! Ever!

someone thought they were fulfilling the dead person’s last wishes, as it were.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, or in other words, it dosn't matter if it's the dead person's last wishes, it's still illegal.

But yah, it looks like I don't have much of a leg to stand on in regards to the dead people issue, if its mostly a mail-in ballet concern, and even then not much of one.

But heres anouther article for you
The Journal identified dead people on the voter rolls in all 62 counties and people in as many as 45 counties who had votes recorded after they had died.

Comment by squegeeboo

And from the same article:

"The numbers do not indicate how much fraud is the result of dead voters in New York, only the potential for it. Typically, records of votes by the dead are the result of bookkeeping errors and do not result in the casting of extra ballots. The Journal did not find any fraud in the local matches it investigated. "

This was supposed to prove your point?

One possibility you overlooked: Perhaps the person died having already filled out the ballot, and someone thought they were fulfilling the dead person's last wishes, as it were.

#91 Briseadh na Faire
So, your point is???

From what I’ve read, the greatest source of dead people voting is where someone casts and absentee ballot, then dies before election day.
That, or family members sending in the absentee ballot that the deceased had recieved, but I feel that illegals, and people claiming to be dead people voting at precincts is a very real problem, but that with out ID's or an equivalant form of authentication, it much harder to prove.

I can still see some of your comments, some times TP screws up with its filter.

“Iraq’s Interior Ministry has charged 57 employees, including high-ranking officers, with human rights crimes for their roles in the torture of hundreds of detainees.”

This might be good news. The fact that such cases are being prosecuted shows at least some recognition of both the wrongness of such acts, and the need for action to be taken towards stopping them. Whether or not anything effective is actually being done to deter such things, and whether this represents and improvement or a worsening from recent months or years, though, I don't know. Perhaps someone else can enlighten me?

By the way, I find that the way this forum is setup to be a bit disconcerting. Having the most recent posts on top makes it harder (ie takes longer than necessary) to peruse. I'd rather see comments in chronological order. That way, temporal context is clear, and threads easier to follow. Either that, or more explicit threading would be nice.

I can't think of a whole lot of areas were adding a national ID (Sorry Voter ID) card would really help.

How long would it last? If less than a license it sure is a pain every year to update it just to vote. If longer, ok so now we have all of these cards out there from people that have passed away in the last 3 years etc. Move: Surrender your card to get an updated one, those that "Forgot or lost" Their card can't vote? Or they end up with 2 of them one for each district.

One lists an anonymous article
I found several that point to now defunct/missing articles, I figured it was just more of the Dem. conspiracy to hide all record of it so they could keep on claiming it dosn't happen.

the other link to an article about an elderly man who voted for his dead wife using her mail-in ballot - but this wouldn’t be a case where having an ID would do anything to stop the “dead” from voting.
And then goes on to mention other cases in the area with out specifing if they were absentee or not.

But heres anouther article for you
The Journal identified dead people on the voter rolls in all 62 counties and people in as many as 45 counties who had votes recorded after they had died.

Did you actually take the time to read the sites you provided? One lists an anonymous article, and the other link to an article about an elderly man who voted for his dead wife using her mail-in ballot - but this wouldn't be a case where having an ID would do anything to stop the "dead" from voting.

SpudgeBoy
Great grandma Spudge used to say that it is messy making a pie, but once it’s done.

That you eat it? Why would you want to eat the dis-enfranchised? But in all seriousness, it can't happen because it is messy for a little bit, same as any major changes to taxes or SS that have been proposed, the berries and flour get everywhere, and its to tempting of a target for the other party to attack for cheap political game.

He has a hard time realizing there is a whole world of opinions out there. Regardless of what you say or do in a week it will be forgotten and you will be a ReThug again. It really is alot easier to group people than treat them as individuals who have their own thoughts.

It's that kind of thinking, more than any other single thing that has made me swear off Reps and Dems. It's us vs them, all the time. Occassionally when one side or the other has a good idea, they can't cross party lines because someone from the"other" party came up with it, so it must be evil, or they go with it and try to make everyone believe it was THEIR idea and end up forgetting what the origonal idea was in the first place Maybe in another life when they've stopped worrying about defeating their opponents and started worrying about doing the right thing, I'll change my mind. Until then.....

Yeah, he's one of those that can't see the grey areas. You are either a Progressive Democrat or a Republican, there is nothing else.
