According to his master it’s okay to lie to the public so as to not effect the election…but then again, maybe this promise is why the voting went the way it did….4:15 ET is the Webb press conference. Think McCain will do it on Leno or Letterman?

Let the investigations go where the will. Perhaps enough evidence and testimony about wrongdoing will be revealed that it will be impossible to refuse to impeach.

Time will tell. Change is in the air.

I said “Democrats should not push immediately for impeachment proceedings.”

To do so would only sour the American public on the Democrats before they’re even out of the gate.

Personally, Pres. Bush’s actions in lying about the reasons for war in Iraq go beyond “high crimes” for which he should be held accountable. (You know, that word that Republicans forgot the minute they took majority in 1994?)

The Dems should push for an independant prosecutor to investigate the lies and crimes of the Bush Administration and then put that on the back-burner for the next 18 months. After we get our financial house back in order, restore civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, cut-off the special access of and by lobbyists, and clean out the lack-of-ethics behavior, THEN look into impeachment.

To do so immediately would make us look like spoiled children. You know, like the Republicans looked like when comparing oral sex to a “high crime”.

First off, Democrats should answer any claim of “You’re just wanting to play pay-back by trying to impeach Pres. Bush!” with “We Democrats are no more eagre to play pay-back by pushing impeachment of Pres. Bush than Republicans were playing pay-back for Pres. Nixon’s resignation by impeaching Pres. Clinton!”

Second, we’ve gained a great deal of political capital (smile!) by taking majority and we Democrats should concentrate on passing centrist legislation: severing the special-access lobbyists have, rolling back the excessive spending, cutting off the Federal Government from raiding SS surplus while we still have it, getting the cost of the war included in all budget projections and not “emergency spending bills”, giving the ethics committees some teeth in their investigations and making sure THAT is not used for political pay-back like it was in the 90’s, pushing for real over-site on no-bid contracts and smacking down the war profiteers, returning our civil liberties before they go the way of fiscal responsibility.

If the Democrats can make a difference and not get mired in power like the Republicans did, and the Democrats did before 1994, then we’ve got a real chance to re-take the White House in 2008!

Personally, political pay-back is not only childish, it’s beyond counter-productive.

You can argue that the impeachment of Clinton was much different, but it did not accomplish anything for the Republican party. What is undeniable is that impeachment is focus on the past and not focus on addressing present problems. The way I hear it, liberals want to address economic disparity, healthcare issues, fixing Iraq, addressing global warming, immigration issues, national security, etc. If democrats pursue impeachment, it will be a decision to defer action on those other issues. I’m not sure it is going to play as well as liberals think.

Also, you can argue that the reason we haven’t had a terror attack in 5 years is mainly happenstance. You could also reason that a domestic terror attack is possible in the next 2 years (not because Democrats control congress, but due to happenstance). I wonder if liberals have given any thought to this scenerio. During a drawn out impeachment with exhausting media coverage; with Democrats accusing Bush of overreaching; another domestic terror attack occurs. I am concerned that while Democrats are accusing the administration of overreach and fear mongering, middle America will be wondering if we didn’t go far enough. Just a thought.

I personally don’t buy this crap the conservatives are saying about how “the American people don’t have the stomach for another impeachment.” This is another b/s lie. They won’t stomach another “pointless impeachment”, like the one on Clinton went through. Bush’s crimes are far worse.

But if they won’t go that far, then they should at least begin exposing the corrupt practices of the administration and its no-bid, cost-plus contract awardees. Show the American people how corrupt the entire Republican party is. Impeachment won’t be necessary.

I am pleased the house and senate has turned but ever watchful regarding what come’s next…..Not long ago I posted my displeasure with the dem’s silence..I do believe they have not grasped what realy happened in this voter turn out.Not only did libral’s vote for them but independent’s chose in their mind’s the oposit of what we had…Kind of like saying anyone but republican……

Palosi, Dean and all had better get busy, real quick and turn thing’s around or they will be in trouble for 2008..Besides the investigation’s for impeachment I want to see those bill’s overturned and dubi out of our port’s..There is also the border security and ton’s of other thing’s that have to be taken care of just as soon as we can stop this war monging……Blessings

I was kinda hoping the Dem’s would realize they finally grew a pair and wouldn’t let the Repub’s pull anything off.
Now I’m nervous all over again.

There may have allready been some back-room deals cut to get those numbers. That would explain why Dean said the Democrats won’t impeach Bush/Cheney.
