The Associated Press reports that President Bush has accepted Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation.
Flashback to one week ago:
President Bush said Wednesday he wants Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney to remain with him until the end of his presidency, extending a job guarantee to two of the most-vilified members of his administration.
“Both those men are doing fantastic jobs and I strongly support them,” Bush said in an interview with The Associated Press and others.
UPDATE: AP reports that Rumsfeld’s replacement will be Robert Gates, a former CIA Director (1991-93) and National Security Council official. He is currently the President of Texas A&M University.
UPDATE II: Robert Gates is a member of the Iraq Study Group, the bipartisan panel co-chaired by James Baker III and Lee Hamilton to develop a new strategy for Iraq. In Feb. 2005, Gates turned down an offer to serve as the Director of National Intelligence, the position now held by John Negroponte.
UPDATE III: Rumsfeld made no mention of resignation during meetings today. AP (published before the resignation announcement):
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, a key target of Iraq war critics, gave no indication Wednesday that he planned to step down in the wake of Democratic midterm election gains, his chief spokesman said.
Eric Ruff, the Pentagon press secretary, said he participated in meetings with Rumsfeld on Wednesday morning and heard no talk of changing war strategies or of Rumsfeld leaving his post.
Is it Christmas, today?

November 8th, 2006 at 12:58 pmNow, if this were happening to the Democrats, what would the Republicans say?
It looks like the party is self-destructing and eating their own!
November 8th, 2006 at 12:58 pmThe Empire Strikes Back!!! Bitches!!
November 8th, 2006 at 12:58 pmI guess his staff finished shredding all the incriminating documentation, so he had nothing left to do but resign.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:59 pm1 down, many more to go……
November 8th, 2006 at 12:59 pmThe EMPIRE STRIKES BACK BITCHES!!!

November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 pmAmen
THATSAH NICEAH!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 pmBush is a freakin’ moron. I voted Dee’s down the line but had he fired Rumsfeld 3 months ago, the republicans might still be in control of both chambers of congress.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 pmSweet! It’s like waking up from a bad dream.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 pmSo now Lieberman can repay the GOP by resigning to become DefSec allowing Rell to appoint a Republican giving the Senate back to the GOP.
I knew something was fishy with all that GOP support.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 pmbummmmmmmmerrrrrrrr
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 pmHot Dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 pmAnd the Blessings keep rollin in…..Montana got rid of burn’s..wahooooo.. And miserable number 3 (rummy is going….) Before this week is over it is looking like a great turn of event’s….Blessings
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 pmI posted this below…At first I was elated with the news, but with the Senate looking good for the Dems, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bush appoints Lieberman, which will then mean that the Connecticut governor (a Repug) will be able to appoint a Repug to the Senate - there goes our majority. That would be Joe’s ultimate F**K you to his constituents and to the American people. I fervently hope this doesn’t happen but I’m afraid that this scenario is a distinct possibility.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:02 pmHappy Rummy resigned day.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:02 pmSneaky bastards..what if Bush asks Lieberman to replace Dumbsfeld? Or another Dem senator? Lieberman’s spot would be filled by a Republican governor who would surely pick a Republican and save the Senate from Dem control.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:03 pmif he had done it before the campaign i bet repubs wouldve won more elections
November 8th, 2006 at 1:05 pm#15 Ed
News stations are reporting that Robert Gates, former CIA man will replace Rumsfeld. Dems still have ashot at the Senate depending on what happens in VA (Macaca land)
November 8th, 2006 at 1:06 pm*drinks hot beverage* PFFFFFT! Say what!?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:06 pmThis is more along the lines of The Return of the Jedi!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:06 pm19. Don’t stress. Lieberman has a full term ahead of him… thats a lot better than being a defense sec. for a lame duck prez while there we are in the midst of losing an unpopular war.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:07 pmI take back my paranoid Lieberman fantasy. Too many election disappointments in a row I guess.
Somehow I’ll learn to live with success.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:07 pmBush has asked Bob Gates to serve as Sec of Defense, so the Senate lineup is unchanged, as of now.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:08 pmHe just said he’s giving the job to Bob Gates
November 8th, 2006 at 1:08 pmAMERICA FOUGHT THE WAR ON TERROR. NOW WE NEED TO GET THE OCCUPIER OF THE WHITEHOUSE

Time to answer to the people.
Funny how much Shrub has flip-flopped since Tuesday on JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.
And I’ve never enjoyed conservative talk radio as much as I am now!!!

Doubt it. Dem or Rep, what rules is General Dynamics, GM, Lockheed Martin and all military companies who need war to sell their products. Sorry, but seriously doubt it.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:08 pmGeez, it only took 6 years, 650,000 deaths, and a new congress and senate to get him to resign. Good riddance to stubborn, old, white men.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:08 pmThey don’t want Rummy testifying..
November 8th, 2006 at 1:09 pm#22 You are correct. Republicans should be even more pissed about this than Dems.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:09 pmCan Cheney be next? Please…..
November 8th, 2006 at 1:10 pmMake sure we get this war criminal’s passport. Don’t let him leave town.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:10 pm#32
agree. let’s go all the way to the top and hit the rothchilds and all the players in the federal reserve.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:10 pmRumsfeld to step down into a cushy job as a defense contractor? We know where Bush conspirators go when they finish their duties for the Monopolists. Only the faces will change as they Monopolists continue to stay the course…
November 8th, 2006 at 1:11 pmBush has just coined his new catch phrase…”A time of change.” I think he has used the word “change” six times. Just face facts Mr. Bush…it is not just a time of “change”, it is a time of “REGIME CHANGE!”
November 8th, 2006 at 1:11 pmGod Bless AMERICA and DEMOCRACY!!!
Did you see Karl Rover’s face in the press conference? Awesome! He’s pissed as hell! Frozen face in zombie impotence!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:12 pmThe good news just won’t stop coming in! I wonder if this is the start of the neocons adapting to being “called out?” I wonder how long it will be before they steal another election. They might be putting their tail between their legs as quick as possible to help their chances in 2008.
I’m happy as a clam, but we must never let our guard down! The neocons are too sneeky.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:12 pmLook at that face. Looks like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays.
Buckle up, dummy. It’s gonna be a long two years.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:12 pmMeanwhile Bush is still on his STAY THE COURSE mantra (”troops aren’t coming home without a victory”). He’s begging to be impeached, like a child who craves punishment.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:13 pmOh god, he just praised Gates with feint praise: “We’re of like mind….” Oy vay.
Its funny how many of us instantly had “The Lieberman Scenario” pop into our heads when we saw the headline….by the time I posted my thoughts, there were several others with the same theme!!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:13 pmWow. “Oh, happy day!!!”

November 8th, 2006 at 1:16 pm“The Lieberman Scenario Just more conspiracy nut stuff. Even when you guys get what you want your still paranoid.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:17 pmCongrats Sharon, I know you wanted Burns to go. I did too, but its closer to home for you.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:17 pmDoes this mean he won’t have to testify before 110th Congress as hearings are conducted on the mess of the Iraq War, contractor corruption, etc., etc?
YAHOO!! Is Cheney’s hospital stay next?

November 8th, 2006 at 1:20 pmone by one…crook by crook…and we end the war in time, and stop the killing of American soldiers..and many many others.

November 8th, 2006 at 1:22 pmlove it!
Did Bush just sya “this was a close election?”
November 8th, 2006 at 1:22 pmI suspect this was predetermined behind closed doors in the event they did lose Congress.

November 8th, 2006 at 1:25 pmSomeone needs to tell Cheney to stay home and Condi.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:25 pmBy Bush allowing Rummy to resign it sends a message to the terr’ists that we love them and want to have thier babies.
Why does Bush hate America and love the Terr’ists?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:27 pm[…] He’s finally gone! Eddie and I discussed this during his visit and both decided to nominate Schwarzeneger for SecDef. Too bad he won reelection by a landslide. What say you? […]
November 8th, 2006 at 1:28 pmYes, Mr. president…we think you’re freakin nuts
November 8th, 2006 at 1:28 pmThis day will go down in history as a day - written about many, many years from now - that today America avoided a military coup. Someone on the inside, way high up was ready to testify against Rumsfeld and connect his strategic involvement in 9/11, Iraq War, and what would happen under his design with the powers of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, in the efforts to turn over our country into a dictatorship.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:30 pmResignation?? Cushy job as defense contractor?
International war crimes tribunal. . . That IS where Rummy and his bosses belong.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:31 pmWith one of the major designers of this conflict gone I hope we can now have a sobering look at what is needed to be accomplished in the middle east for that region to gain stability. Democracy will come to those who want it and it will happen from within.
This in no way is a show of weakness by the American people. Even though the conflict was inflamed with falsehoods and was executed miserably the american fighting soldier should not walk away with it’s tail between it’s legs. We can and will debate until the cows come home on why are we there and how poorly it was run but the Democrats understand we are there and will have to have a bipartisan approach to leave.
Oh Rummy, was this one of those unknown unknowns or did you see the writing on the wall?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:33 pmif he had done it before the campaign i bet repubs wouldve won more elections
Comment by n69n — November 8, 2006 @ 1:05 pm
I don’t know. It might have seemed like he was too desperate to get votes. This way, he gets to see if the elections go his way, and since they didn’t, he looks a little better in the eyes of the people AFTER the elections, muddying the waters further. This administration has so far thrived on muddied waters. Anything they can do to confuse things. I’m going to keep a close watch on whoever fills the position of whoever he gets to fill the position.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:34 pmI am watching the resuts on CNN.com and they have 50 Dems 49 Repubs and 0 Ind with only the VA race still undecided I thought Lieberman was an Independant.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:35 pm“You’re doing a heckuva job, Rummy….”
November 8th, 2006 at 1:36 pmFor Truth, Yep! Want to move back to Montana next year….Love the state and her people..
Hay rummy, glad to see you’re evil leaving, let the door hit you and you’re bony ass on the way out. Don’t forget stay close, we may be needing you’re attendance in the big house soon….
More Blessings headed our way……May Peace be close at hand..Can we work to over turn those dreadful bill’s now…..bush is still going to be the same as alway’s, hateful and steadfast in selling us out…Listening to his mean speech this morning proves the point’s….He’s going after S.S. and all the wilderness.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:40 pmThis is so funny. I’m looking at all these comments by such fools… “the adults have come to take over.” Do any of you dimwits realize that the Bush is still head of the executive branch, and he will control it no different with Rumsfeld gone? This is exactly why democrats shouldn’t vote. None of you even understand how our gov’t works. Kind of like the guy at the diner that voted for Harold Ford just because Ford visited his diner… Tsk tsk… But of course, you don’t actually know what’s going on in Iraq, either, but that doesn’t stop any of you from blabbering on about it.

SPC Sanchez–stay safe.
“Way to uphold those democratic ideals, Michael.”
I’m sorry… you’ve never met a person you didn’t think shouldn’t vote? I didn’t say you shouldn’t be allowed to vote. I only said you shouldn’t vote, mainly because most of you lack the capacity to make an informed decision. You accuse republicans of “wedge politics,” but you all have been practicing that for decades! Interest groups? Unions? Minorities? The beliefs of many minorities more accurately align with conservatives, but democrats would hate for them to find that out.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:54 pmHAPPY GUY!!!!!!! Heeeeyyyyyyy Buddy! How ya doin’? I’ve been saving a nice “GET OVER IT” for you, and there it is…
SPC Sanchez - I don’t give too much victory credit to the Rumsfeld resignation, and I understand that the DoD situation won’t improve just because of that, or any time soon. Before you shoot your mouth off about Democrats and whether they vote, you’d best spend a little time thinking about who it will be 20 years from now voting whether or not to continue funding your Vet’s benefits. You would also do well to understand how many real combat vets ARE DEMOCRATS, and how dedicated they have always been to our Veterans. Don’t bite the hand that actually feeds you, bite the one that wants to turn you away from the doctor’s office when you’re an old man.

With all due respect - your “dems shouldn’t vote” bulls#t is ridiculous.

November 8th, 2006 at 2:00 pmOkay, if any GOP friends ask, “So, what will the Dems do for us?”, I’m starting with the Rummy Resignation.
While our boys and girls (and 600k+ Iraqis) got killed and the pile of limbs left on Iraq streetsreached ever-more-towering heights, Rummy sailed on, uncaring about reality on the ground, staying the course…

November 8th, 2006 at 2:07 pm“You say we don’t know what is going on in Iraq? (which is not true) - I think you can learn a bit about what is going on here in the U.S.”
OK… so you say that I was wrong in suggesting that you don’t know what is going on in Iraq, but then you call the kettle black… and assert that I don’t know what is going on in the U.S. That is entirely laughable.
“You don’t have a election results like these without a significant number of people who voted republican in 2004 voting Democratic yesterday.”

I spent 20 years in the Air Force and have disliked Rumsfeld as soon as he made the “the army you have” line of crap. I am very happy that Rummy is gone.
I hope your grandson is safe and has a right to voice his opinion (really, whichever way he wants) just as I do for SPC Sanchez.

November 8th, 2006 at 2:14 pmI’m leaving the SPC Sanchez sub-thread alone - it’s either phony, or he’s having a cognitive breakdown because what he’s had himself psyched about the last few years is falling apart. Luckily, the Democrats of the future wll make sure he’s cared for well into old age, just like the rest of our Vets, and that’s what matters to me.

November 8th, 2006 at 2:15 pmSPC Michael J. Sanchez, if you are truly serving in Iraq, I humbly thank you for you and your commrades service to our country! That being said, you came on here attacking, so don’t expect a pass for no rebuttals. Doesn’t happen in a free society, won’t happen here. So here goes:
I don’t have any desire to come home right now
I’m going to call BULLCRAP on this one. Anyone with family, friends, or relationships back home always has a desire. Even the most hard ass commander has a desire to return back to the good ol USA
no credit will be owed to you for my safety
Au contraire, mon fraire! We have wanted your safe return since the start of this invasion. Always have, always will. Whether you want to believe that or not, we HAVE fought for your safe return, as evidence for yesterday’s election!
That goes to the rest of my fellow servicemembers… the people that actually HAVE the guts to fight for their country
Nice strawman, saying those that chose other careers are gutless. How would you feel if I said my comrades actually have the GUTS to attend 8 years of medical school. Irrelevant, and not the subject.
Again, thank you for your continued service for our country. We, as a democratic society, voted to change the course in Iraq, and for your safe return.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:19 pmWe pray for you and all the servicemen and women on duty all over the world.
I hope at least you can understand that!
i was in iraq also. i was there in kuwait before the war and crossed the border during it. i fought too but didn’t agree with it. i am glad to see rummy go
November 8th, 2006 at 2:19 pmHey Bob, that’s great! Except one thing… IAVA is partisan, and I don’t really care what they say. Every living one of them surely has negative feelings towards the war. Completely natural. People that lose their composure in stressful situations tend to turn out this way. The rest of us don’t. You can say what you will, but the bottom line is that any person who advocates withdrawing is a complete fool, and that’s most of the Democratic party right now. I’m not arguing that Republicans are great and that Democrats suck. There are some horrible Republicans. What I am saying is that the Democratic party is completely delusional if they think that withdrawas or abiding by a “timetable” is a good strategy.

SPC Sanchez - you’ve been taking your “Bill O’Reilly Logic Pills”
Your ‘laughable’ point was “you Dems shouldn’t vote and etc. …”
My point to you was look at this guy - a life long republican - voting Democrat in Ohio.
He was pissed off about the same things that me and the other Dems are pissed off about.
Are you saying that “Dems and life-long republicans who change their affiliation because they are fed up with the current direction of the republican party shouldn’t vote?”
With the “Hoover” comment - you ignore the point again. It wan’t just Dems that created this result. A significant number of repubs were involved.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:30 pmI’m not arguing that Republicans are great and that Democrats suck.
preceded by this:
November 8th, 2006 at 2:31 pmmainly because most of you lack the capacity to make an informed decision. You accuse republicans of “wedge politics,†but you all have been practicing that for decades! Interest groups? Unions? Minorities? The beliefs of many minorities more accurately align with conservatives, but democrats would hate for them to find that out
man, sounds like we suck to you.
Bye Rummy and take your “Brokeback Mountain” lover Cheney with you > lol.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:31 pm“’m going to call BULLCRAP on this one. Anyone with family, friends, or relationships back home always has a desire.”
The times are only fleeting when I want to come home. Sometimes they last a while, sometimes a day. As of right now, I don’t miss home too much. So maybe I was wrong when I said I don’t have ANY desire to come home. It is a very small desire.
“Au contraire, mon fraire! We have wanted your safe return since the start of this invasion. Always have, always will. Whether you want to believe that or not, we HAVE fought for your safe return, as evidence for yesterday’s election!”
I didn’t ask what you wanted. I said it would be no credit to you. You would have done nothing for me to come home safely. Try to contort it any way you wish, but its simply untrue.
“saying those that chose other careers are gutless.”
Again, I said no such thing.
“How would you feel if I said my comrades actually have the GUTS to attend 8 years of medical school.”
That would make perfect sense in the proper perspective. Replace the word “guts” with “intellect” and it may bear some truth.
“i fought too but didn’t agree with it.”
November 8th, 2006 at 2:33 pmI am quite sure that is because you didn’t understand it. You were probably one of the few that bought the “no war for oil” BS. I know I will be chastised for this comment… and it makes me laugh…
That why we call them ChickenHawks !! It’s very easy to be “brave” when you send troops to die from a desk in Washington (having not server by the way) and have no one to bothering you with oversight, but when the congress that have let you do anything is no longer there you resign. CHICKENHAWKS !!!
November 8th, 2006 at 2:34 pmAnd BTW, don’t let the door hit you on the way out !! :-D
November 8th, 2006 at 2:34 pmWell, now that Rumsfeld is no longer a member of the Administration, it will be easier for Congress to subpoena him!
November 8th, 2006 at 2:36 pm#113…Interesting that you hate minorities when I’m sure you are fighting alongside them in Iraq. Are you fighting for everyone’s freedom to vote over here and abroad, or are you fighting for only republicans’ freedom to vote?
November 8th, 2006 at 2:37 pm“He was pissed off about the same things that me and the other Dems are pissed off about.”
WAR IS HARD!!! Poor baby….
“With the “Hoover†comment - you ignore the point again. It wan’t just Dems that created this result. A significant number of repubs were involved.”
November 8th, 2006 at 2:38 pmI think you ignore my point. If democrats hadn’t voted, then they wouldn’t have won. You act as if a majority of Republicans have just shifted parties in a historical event. That’s not really the case. There are also lifelong Democrats that are voting Replublican. The dem majority in the House mainly results from swing voters.
“Interesting that you hate minorities when I’m sure you are fighting alongside them in Iraq. Are you fighting for everyone’s freedom to vote over here and abroad, or are you fighting for only republicans’ freedom to vote?”
November 8th, 2006 at 2:40 pmLOL! I think this was directed toward me… in that case… I AM A MINORITY you ignoramus. I’m sorry… also the son of an immigrant.
Hey you don’t have to attack me. I did my job over there and fought. I didn’t make any difference about why I was doing it because that is what I signed up for. But that doesn’t mean I have to agree with it. And about your oil comment, it’s funny you bring that up because as we sat on the Kuwaiti border waiting to go over to Iraq, our orders stated the only way we cross immediately is if Iraqis fire at us or an oil field gets lit on fire. You tell me?
November 8th, 2006 at 2:40 pmSo long Rummy boy! May this be the first of many resignations within the Bush White House.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:41 pmIs it Christmas, today?
Comment by bobcat_grad — November 8, 2006 @ 12:56 pm
That’s exactly what I was wondering… I just checked CNN and I thought ‘why is Rumsfeld being criticized news’?
And then I saw that he’d resigned. Nancy hasn’t even taken over yet and he’s gone. Damn she’s good!
November 8th, 2006 at 2:44 pmDeflecting your failing remarks is all very fun and everything.. but I’m afraid I have a job. So its time to go. I’ve noticed that none of you really provide anything challenging for me, but if you decide that you think can something, the only forum in which I reside is http://www.americanconservativeforum.com . I make it a point to disprove falsities fabricated about Iraq, so it would be wise to come prepared. But I predict none of you will. Good day.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:46 pm125. Not interested in visiting a republican propaganda website. Good day.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:48 pm“the only way we cross immediately is if Iraqis fire at us or an oil field gets lit on fire. You tell me?”
November 8th, 2006 at 2:49 pmHAHAHA You still don’t get it. Funny. Anyhow, that’s called the “rules of engagement” Rules of engagement tend to protect items of particular value or interest. In this case, it would be the lifeblood of the recovering Iraqi economy. This is too easy. Later.
SPC Sanchez is a new form of troll-technology, and not a service member stationed in Iraq. More weak spinning, from losers whose only game is to spin.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:50 pmWe are still a long ways away. Every American MUST SPEAK!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 2:51 pm“Not interested in visiting a republican propaganda website. Good day.”
November 8th, 2006 at 2:52 pmActually, its called a “forum.” Thanks for failing to note the difference, though.

“War Is Hard” … Poor Baby?
WTF?
The man from Ohio quoted in the article said nothing about the war. Clearly, it is a distinct possibility for why he left the republican party.
But it may have also had something to do with the Rob Ney / Abramoff scandal.
Particularly since Ney was a republican House Rep. -from Ohio.
Or maybe he didn’t like how fellow midwesterner republican Hastert handled the Foley thing.
“If democrats hadn’t voted, then they wouldn’t have won.”
I can’t believe you actually wrote that.
Good Luck in Iraq.

November 8th, 2006 at 2:55 pmYes, I knew someone would resort to this after they fail to provide counter-points. So, like always, I am prepared. Go ahead, e-mail me at michael.sanchez10@us.army.mil. Thunderbird is open all the time. I know you won’t, because you’re only interested in lying about people. So I’m off to bed. BYE!
“Not interested in visiting a republican propaganda website. Good day.â€
Actually, its called a “forum.†Thanks for failing to note the difference, though.
Comment by SPC Michael J. Sanchez — November 8, 2006 @ 2:52 pm
Funny that you didn’t that you didn’t disupte the fact that it’s still republican propaganda. LOL!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 3:01 pmHoly Shit! I’ve been gone since early this morning and haven’t been able to even listen to news. This day just holds too many presents. I don’t know which one to open first!
November 8th, 2006 at 3:11 pmPresident Bush:
So a blatant lie was “the only way to answer that question?”
Do you think your habitual and chronic lying to the American people had any influence over the outcome of yesterday’s election?
Jim Webb for Secretary of Defense!
November 8th, 2006 at 3:13 pmSPC Michael J. Sanchez Keep on fighting and staying alive my man. Regarding your points, those are great, keep those coming too, but to say that you only have a fleeting desire to come home makes me think that you might just like warfare and the comraderie that that produces. And if that’s the case, that’s great. The only thing I’ll say is that we are not voting for change for you specifically, we voted to change not only our perception in the world as this conflict was started under false pretenses, but for those who will fight and die under those false pretenses so that if there ever is a time when we will need them again that they’ll know that it is for a just cause. This was not a just cause and I don’t need to be over there to know that. Oh and that it’s creating an even larger pool of people who want to kill us.
November 8th, 2006 at 3:25 pmIf this keeps up, I’m going to have to change my screen name! Happy November 8th everybody!!!!!!
November 8th, 2006 at 3:26 pmYeah Fox news is quite the show. Last night they were last among all news agencies to admit defeat, they held on to “one seat to go” for so long, it was pathetic. In 2000 they were the first to announce GWB’s “victory”.
November 8th, 2006 at 3:46 pmSPC Sanchez is the real deal, not that it would matter to you people.
November 8th, 2006 at 4:51 pmI am glad to see that y’all are enjoying the ‘moderate to conservative’ dem’s that were elected…which means that any and all liberal tripe is off of the table, as it has been.
here comes lynn with the big spin - thanks for playing, and GET OVER IT
November 8th, 2006 at 5:01 pmcan the conservatives, like lynn, please take the loss in stride, admit defeat, and move on.
Jezz, my beloved Tigers lost, but did I blame the weather, umpiring, voodoo dolls, et al?
Hell no, because they got beat by a BETTER TEAM!
Your team not only lost, but got “it’s” perverbial ass kicked! Deal with it and enjoy the next 2 years, especially knowing that the PEOPLE OF AMERICA haven chosen!
And to think Happy Dude predicted a whine fest from the left!
November 8th, 2006 at 5:50 pmRumpsfelt is returning to Romulous. Mission not accomplished.
November 8th, 2006 at 5:50 pmJust one word of advice for you Don.
November 8th, 2006 at 6:46 pmRun and hide. Go away and never show your mug anywhere near a veteran or a family member of a US Soldier killed in Iraq.
I don’t want to see you on talk shows, the lecture circuit or publishing your “memoirs”.
All I want is for the door to hit you on the way out.
Would that the door makes a permanent impression on your ass.
someone pinch me!
November 8th, 2006 at 7:28 pm****Dear SPC Sanchez - Thank YOU!! I appreciate everything you guys and gals do for the rest of US. I am from a military family and we were taught it was a privelege to serve our country. The majority of San Diegans aren’t nearly so tacky as barfly, but I try to cut her a little slack as I’m sure she’s concerned for her grandson….
I’ve had several opportuities to discuss the war(s) with returning service members. 90% of them understand that this fight is THE fight. This enemy will not be appeased and will not go away. They understand dead terrorists have a difficult time strapping on bomb-belts and planting IED’s.
You are in my prayers. Stay safe - BE WELL!
November 8th, 2006 at 7:30 pmHA! - MA (who is a lawyer, just like star jones)…..save it - can it - stuff it. Suck up to Major Payne all you want - did you miss the story about the Army Times calling for Rummy’s resignation? Did you miss all the stories in Stars&Stripes? Did you miss Kevin Tillman’s recent statements? Sure you did - that’s called selective hearing, and it’s a disorder you don’t seem to mind suffering. You also wouldn’t mind taking a tax cut you don’t need, even if it meant that spc sanchez had to do without medical care in his old age….duplicitous cur! corrupt abomination!! - get thee hence, foul spirit, and save your mewling for those benighted enough not to see through it.
November 8th, 2006 at 7:41 pmJust a few days ago Bush declared “heck of a job Rummy would be staying to the bitter end. And he calls John Kerry a flip-flopper. I guess Bush was FOR Rumhead before he was against him. snark.
November 8th, 2006 at 7:54 pmHey, Mighty Moron, just when ARE you going to “name our friends and allies who did not desert us during our civil war”? I’m still waiting.
November 8th, 2006 at 7:56 pmOwned.
November 8th, 2006 at 8:05 pmThe majority of San Diegans aren’t nearly so tacky as barfly, but I try to cut her a little slack as I’m sure she’s concerned for her grandson….
How would you know what the majority of San Diegans think? As if you ever went south of interstate 8 except for ballgames.
I just shudder to imagine what MR. Ma is like, as you seem to have a hard time differentiating sexes. Pick him up on Convoy? Or was it Kearny Mesa Road?
November 8th, 2006 at 8:05 pmThey understand dead terrorists have a difficult time strapping on bomb-belts and planting IED’s.
Comment by mighty aphrodite
But “dead terrorists” have relatives and friends, and the cycle perpetuates itself with every killing, justified or not. Generations of hatred, and my grandson will be one paying the price for your neo-con nightmare.
November 8th, 2006 at 8:09 pm“democrats shouldn’t vote” actually SPC Sanchez, It is YOU who doesn’t understand how our government works. Didn’t they teach you in school the concept of one man, one vote. Go back to school.
November 8th, 2006 at 8:15 pmDrop the “victory for conservative values” spin.
A lot of “reasonable” conservatives had problems with this war:
Schwarzkopf, Scowcroft, Bush 41, and others.
The displeasure with Rumsfeld was not that he was a conservative. It was that he was a neoconservative.
And at this point, “incompetent” is synonymous with neoconservative.
The neoconservative group shut out good advice from almost everybody. Democrats. Republicans. The Military. Iraqis. Academics.
‘Sanchez’ said “war is hard.” Well, it gets even harder - if not impossible - when you consistently shut out good advice. Hence the outcry from the retired generals and the “Army Times” for Rumsfeld to go.
If you are really a pro-military conservative (as opposed to just a neocon) you should be happy Rumsfeld is gone. Maybe now someone with a non-neocon point of view can get finally get their ideas considered with an open mind.
November 8th, 2006 at 9:20 pmThis is a hoot!! The dem’s “Mainstream” America? LOL!!
November 9th, 2006 at 2:08 amThe election results prove what has always been most prevalent whether exercised overtly in the voting booths or not, a majority of the population being independent centrist, which is to say most people agree on most things that directly affect their daily their lives. And whether or not they are fortunate enough to live in a free society and effect change nonviolently or live embroiled in social turmoil to such a point of hopeless despair, that they become or are compelled to employ violence. When power and corruption goes unchecked it eventually gets corrected, but never completely eliminated. Our precious freedoms to not start or stop at the labeling of one party label or from the swaying backwards or forwards from one to another. George Washington warned about the demise of democracy by sole determinations of a two party system.
November 9th, 2006 at 3:55 amThat’s right, Lynn.
Most Dems are members of “Mainstreet America” - just like most moderate Republicans ( i.e., non-neocon Republicans ).
You just keep on ‘hootin’ … knock yourself out …
November 9th, 2006 at 11:33 amYAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s lock up as many Republicans as possible and free as many of the oppressed freedom-fighters held, cruelly, and against their will, in that absolute Hell-hole that is Guantanimo.
After all, those poor folks really have nothing against America and would love us more if they weren’t being oppressed and victimized by hate crimes merely because of their skin color and different beliefs, right?
I mean, if it wasn’t for Bush pissing off those people, they wouldn’t have flown those planes into the towers, right?
November 10th, 2006 at 4:12 pm#159–Comment by Jumpwings — November 10, 2006 @ 4:12 pm
Ya, and even though many of our people got our heads cut off, we should just hug those poor Terrorists.
November 10th, 2006 at 9:45 pmI can’t believe they put underwear over that Iraqi terrorist guy’s head at Guantanemo…that’s just horrible.
I hope somebody washed them first….LOFL.
RE: Post 160:
Well, those people who got their heads cut off by “freedom fighters” were just ASKING for that by simply being white, imperialist, oppressor, infidel pig-dogs, right?
November 11th, 2006 at 1:02 pm
