We have already had investigations into the intel that led to the Iraq war. The 9/11 commission that YOUR side demanded be put toghether concluded that nobody lied about the intel. For that to have occurred Bush would have had to get intel agencies from several different nations and the UN to lie.

The Clinton investigation could have come to a screeching halt if Clinton had simply told the truth. He lied about his activities, tried to get others to lie for him and was found in contempt of court for his lies. Your side apparently wants to hold the president of the united states to a lower standard than a beat cop as long as he’s a democrat. Pelosi says she wants to work with Bush. She was calling him every name in the book about a week ago.

I’m not sure I follow you, tb, but I haven’t changed my principles or my opinions. I can concede electoral defeat without conceding either principles or opinions (after all, there will be another election in just two short years).

One of my principles is not to be a sore loser if I can help it. The way I was raised, that’s one of the worst things you can be in life. That, and being a poor winner. Let’s hope we don’t see either in the next two years.

My contributions, such as they are, have been opinions as worthy of consideration as any others. I don’t apologize. I let the chips fall where they may . . . and I try to be a good loser, when the situation requires it.

Seachange elections, such as this one, always require the honest acceptance of defeat. They also present a challenge to the victors: to be gracious winners (or at least to appear to be gracious), or not to be. Showing too much contempt is an ugly sight to most of those who cast their votes yesterday.

Will the Dems overplay their newly strengthened hand? Almost inevitably they will, unless they learn to stop balkanizing the electorate as Nico has done above. Voters care about issues, not the race, religion or sex (or even the sexual preference) of the candidates. If the Dems demonstrate a mastery of the issues most important to Americans, they may retain power for a long time. If not, they too will get taken to the woodshed.

My most fervent hope is that America will continue to stand strong against the terrorists around the world, including those in Iraq. If we don’t, there almost certainly will come a day when, like on 9-11, we will again be counting bodies in the thousands, rather than votes.

Congratulations Democrats. You have won the power that comes with winning an important election. Now please use that power wisely.
