Half the world, half the states and half the nation is female. It is not too much to ask or demand that half the representative body of our government also be half female. From my perpspective, the nurturing nature of women might bode well for dealing with the nasty nature of nations and people and we should give them a chance to do so.

"Truth" detector you said..

The democrats did everything they could to undermine the President and now they say they want to work WITH him? What utter nonsense. Your side accused him of lying, being a murderer, a terrorist, a torturer, incompetant, compared Us troops to nazis, compared Gitmo to a gulag, and now want to work in the spirit of bypartisanship? Please

but forget the rationale for the 3 branches of government in the 1st place. You dont "rubber stamp" things that are wrong just for the sake of "biparticianship".. when you are not in power and all 3 branches are skewed.. there is no bi-particianship because ( as they proved) they (the previous government) did not need any and just did what they wanted.. fot the sake of being "more safe" pulleeeese!

people who previously i this country that fought against blantantly wrong polices were know by names as abolitionists, revolutionaries, and other names.. were they wrong for opposing?
You sound to have a hint of dissapointment.. like a realiziation that you are very singular in your thoughts and most dont agree with you and it has been played out on a major scale (like the last person picked in the school yard).

the government is doing what it is supposed to CHECK and BALANCE itself.. but why is the present government still trying to bypass government ( Bolton and spy tapping legislation) *smiling*...
Some people find a way to blame the victim to hide their own sense of discovery.... that things are not as they thought.

Just take a deep breathe.. read a book like "The prophet" and just rethink your stances.

peace "Truth"

"Untruthdetector",

You asked why did our side (Democrats) lose power in 1994? I'll tell you my fellow 'unAmerican', Corporate America backed up the GOP candidates with 'dirty-traitor' money reaped from the wonderful 'get rich quick' global economy scam...where truly the 'rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.'As for Reagan (who most Repubs want to canonize), his rise to power was also done 'under the table'. A little weapons trading with Iran...hostages home...Reagan takes office. I wasn't born yesterday!

As far as liberals/Democrats name calling, we learned it from the worst! Ex-drugee Limbaugh and his ilk mastered the skill of dehumanizing 'the other side' as well as taking shots at those who want to improve the 'human condition' by using stem cell research.

Just remember this! The American people are the DECIDERS, not GW, Cheney, nor the so-called billion dollar international families that supposedly decide our fate...the French knew who to go after when the shit hit the fan during the Revolution...the rich and powerful!!!

LOL, you libs are really something. Every election over the past 6 years you guys were saying the dems were gonna come in and kick ass, you guys predicted in 2000, 02, and 04, that the democrats would win. When they didn't you guys whined, called for recounts with no clear rules, accused GOP operatives of a conspiracy to disenfranchise minority voters etc. It's never about YOUR policies when you lose, it's always a GOP conspiracy. If the conspiracy theory were true, why didn't it work this time?

Your side was better at the mudslinging. Bravo. Now that they have the power, let's see what they do with it.

Tom,

We have already had investigations into the intel that led to the Iraq war. The 9/11 commission that YOUR side demanded be put toghether concluded that nobody lied about the intel. For that to have occurred Bush would have had to get intel agencies from several different nations and the UN to lie.

The Clinton investigation could have come to a screeching halt if Clinton had simply told the truth. He lied about his activities, tried to get others to lie for him and was found in contempt of court for his lies. Your side apparently wants to hold the president of the united states to a lower standard than a beat cop as long as he's a democrat. Pelosi says she wants to work with Bush. She was calling him every name in the book about a week ago.

What policies have the democrats come up with in the last 12 years Tom? Why did your side lose power in 1994? If the democrats were doing such a great job, why did the GOP pick up over 50 seats in the house in 1994?. I notice the name calling, well that's all your side has done for the last 6 years while Bush and the GOP gave us a great economy and cut the defecit in half 3 years ahead of schedule.

We have already seen the tip of the iceberg on their agenda. Raising the minimum wage, raising taxes, a tax on the oil industry to help pay for research in alternative fuels? So, apparently the democrats are in favor of telling business owners how much they should pay their employees regardless of merit, & they are in favor of forcing an industry to pay to help put itself out of business. Don't we have more important things to worry about? Weren't the democrats bitching about Bin Laden still being out there?

Your side won 1 election out of the last 4 and now you have the next two years to "work together" in a "bypartisan way". Where was this spirit of bypartisanship on the part of democrats for the last 6 years? All the dems did was hurl insults and vote against the very tools that have prevented further attacks on US soil for 5 years and refused to even vote on several judicial nominations and the embassador to the UN.

The democrats did everything they could to undermine the President and now they say they want to work WITH him? What utter nonsense. Your side accused him of lying, being a murderer, a terrorist, a torturer, incompetant, compared Us troops to nazis, compared Gitmo to a gulag, and now want to work in the spirit of bypartisanship?
so, Dad, you admit that you’re “cutting and running” from your previous positions, or are you “flip-flopping”, because only one of those two things is possible, right?

I'm not sure I follow you, tb, but I haven't changed my principles or my opinions. I can concede electoral defeat without conceding either principles or opinions (after all, there will be another election in just two short years).

One of my principles is not to be a sore loser if I can help it. The way I was raised, that's one of the worst things you can be in life. That, and being a poor winner. Let's hope we don't see either in the next two years.

Save it, Citizen Dad. Most will not forget your previous “contributions” to these discussions.

Well, isn't that special?

My contributions, such as they are, have been opinions as worthy of consideration as any others. I don't apologize. I let the chips fall where they may . . . and I try to be a good loser, when the situation requires it.

Seachange elections, such as this one, always require the honest acceptance of defeat. They also present a challenge to the victors: to be gracious winners (or at least to appear to be gracious), or not to be. Showing too much contempt is an ugly sight to most of those who cast their votes yesterday.

I have to offer congratulations to the Democrats. This was an important election, and they won it decisively. There is no question that the voters, both liberal and conservative, collectively took the GOP to the woodshed yesterday.

Will the Dems overplay their newly strengthened hand? Almost inevitably they will, unless they learn to stop balkanizing the electorate as Nico has done above. Voters care about issues, not the race, religion or sex (or even the sexual preference) of the candidates. If the Dems demonstrate a mastery of the issues most important to Americans, they may retain power for a long time. If not, they too will get taken to the woodshed.

My most fervent hope is that America will continue to stand strong against the terrorists around the world, including those in Iraq. If we don't, there almost certainly will come a day when, like on 9-11, we will again be counting bodies in the thousands, rather than votes.

Congratulations Democrats. You have won the power that comes with winning an important election. Now please use that power wisely.

TruthDetector(?) - it'll prolly be as ugly as the years and millions we wasted on a blue dress a blowjob and a cumstain. Your "stuff" has no weight, coming, as it does, from the bottom of the ethical barrel. Lie there in the slime now, and GET OVER IT. (btw, bud, it took 50 years for the dems to lose congress, and it took the thugs 12. why?, cause they suck and their policies produce failure)

U trolls are precious - thanks for coming back, and I look forward to the next few months, while your carcasses roast slowly over a low hick'ry fire....makes the meat just fall right off the bone, dontcha know?

Troll - the other, other white meat.

Why do you guys hate America so much that you'd harbor a terrorist like that?

Comment by Truthdetector — November 8, 2006 @ 2:09 pm

TD: keep spewing your bile, pal...it looks good coming from a LOSER like you. That's right -- I said LOSER -- get used to the title, it'll be yours for at least the next two years. In fact, you may want to have tee-shirts made so you stand out in the crowd -- that is, if the nazi salute doesn't do it for you.

Oh, and by the way, the American people called: they want their country back. And we're going to help them get it back from the enablers of fascism like you who've held it hostage for the last 6 years.

Bluedog, conservatives don't whine and make allegations of voter disenfranchisement when they lose like the democrats have done in the past. The GOP lost because they acted too much like democrats with their spending and their attempt to fight another politically correct war.

Pelosi claims they will be the most open, honest, congress in history. Well, their history in power suggests otherwise. In a few weeks we will see just what the democrats consider to be important. They will push for more taxes, higher minimum wages, a weak immigration policy, repeal of the Patriot Act and all the other programs dealing with spying on terrorists.

Bin Laden is smiling like a cheshire cat.
