Sen. George Allen (R-VA) urged to concede race.

“Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race.”

Allen will be last to concede, you can bet on it. Reality is too painful for even this tough guy.

He needs to conceed that he’s a racist scumbag.

There’s a lot of things that bitch needs to confess.

  3. unbelievable says:

    Will miracles never cease…

That is the mature thing to do. Accept the will of the people and get the hell out of the way now. Webb is the rightful winner.

I literally feel like a thousand pounds has been lifted off my shoulders since last night when we took back the house. Everything else has been icing on the cake…

Why do Senior Republicans disagree with Top Republicans and who cares what the White House thinks or says?

Interesting. When Democrats lose they cry “fraud” and call out the lawyer brigades. When Republicans lose, they retire gracefully. Allen should follow GOP tradition (remember 1960?) and concede. No one likes a sore loser.

  11. SpudgeBoy says:

They probably want Allen to concede because the longer he drags it out, the longer that light will be shone on his racist macaca ways.

Conrad Burns still hasn’t accepted the fact he’s lost in MT. Is this the kind of “acceptable” behaviour ReichWingNuts want to see more of? And how is Allen any different?

Fraud is seen when the exit polls don’t come anywhere near matching the reported election results.

WingNuts were trounced yesterday. I can understand that it may take awhile for them to understand that We The People know we have been mis-led by that miserable band of greedy ‘ol pedophiles.

  24. RUCerious says:

Fare thee well Mr. Allen. We hardly knew ye, and that’s probably the kindest thing I can think to say, since my other post was bleeped.

  25. My Two Cents says:

I have no problem with Allen getting a recount if its close. I just find it ironic that the Repubs are complaining about voter problems with the E-vote machines.

Unfortunately, he wont get a proper recount because…wait for it…THE MACHINES DOES NOT LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL.

It also funny that the congress a few years ago struck down bills requiring all e-vote machines to have a paper reciept. Oh well!!!

  26. Fredric L. Rice says:

Even with Diebol et al. America won

What’s profoundly staggering is that even with all the Republinazi voter fraud and treason against America, enough Americans voted against these fascist terrorists that all of the fascist regime’s attempts to steal this election failed any way.

Likely numerous elections were “flipped” by these fascists and yet the rightards _still_ lost big time.

Not to sound like a big conspiracy theory nut, but might republicans not want people looking into the race too closely else they might find physical proof of some (unsuccessful) election fraud there (and thus possibly elsewhere). Just a thought considering all of the bad stuff I’ve been hearing about electronic voting machines.

  31. Manuel says:

Karl Rove is smart, he has realized that enough damage ahs been done, and a useless long recount is like pouring salt through that deep wound, it’s just not necessary.

How sickening (yet entertaining in it’s own right) it is to listen to the news kowtow to the whimsy of these men who LOST and are refusing to concede…

I would love to see Allen demand a recount, and end up on the receiving end of Federal charges over investigation into VA voting “practices”. The irony would be priceless. GO for it Macaca… the only place I would rather see you relocate to, other than OUT of the Senate, would be a prison!

Not many comments over at RedState on the threads about them losing. I guess they’re just not talking about it. Awwww….

This was one of the threads that made me laugh (because the repugs were still fiercely defending BushCo just 24 hours ago…) :

    Dear Mr. President
    By Erick

Right now I think I’d rather you keep Mr. Rumsfeld and replace yourself with Mr. Cheney.

This is a spine. You’ll also want to find where you put these.

Your base is not happy. We backed you throughout this election. It’s a shame to see you start heading down your present path. It’s disappointing.

  42. Pissed Off says:

…GO for it Macaca… the only place I would rather see you relocate to, other than OUT of the Senate, would be a prison!

Maybe that is why he is urged to concede. Could it be that FBI has uncovered solid eveidence against Mecaca and his mafia relating to the shenanigans they pulled yesterday?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

  43. unbelievable says:

What the Freepers have to say about this topic:

“As we sit now, James Webb has a lead of approximately 8,000 votes over George Allen in Virginia, with votes yet to be counted. Insofar as there are outstanding absentee ballots, they should of course all be counted before Allen throws in the towel. If the final margin of victory is small enough that it triggers some sort of automatic recount, then I am all for the automatic recount. There’s merit to doing a once-over and making sure that the thing was done right.”

  44. unbelievable says:

Said one neocon poster “The first bright spot of the morning is that Joe Lieberman won re-election, beating the Kossack, Ned Lamont.”

Actually, it was Bush that first filed suit in ‘00.

Another cherished spin point bites the dust.

  46. Republicans are the fear and smear party says:

He won’t concede. He’ll demand a recount and make Virginia pay millions of dollars for it and blame Democrats somehow.

  48. John M says:

Of course the GOP wants him to concede. The longer he holds on, the more information will come out about the robo-calls that were probably illegal (not being a lawyer I can’t say they are for sure) but at least extremely “dirty pool”.

  49. RUCerious says:

    #41 – Huzzahhh!
Let’s get to the task, as there’s a lot of work to do. Hard work. Electioning is real hard work. Now that we’re deciders and all.

  50. Disputo says:

Allen will concede. The RNC cannot risk having their election fraud scrutinized.

  51. Marie says:

Democrats cry foul when elections are stolen. When they lose honestly, they accept their fate.
Citizen Dad seems to think that stealing elections should be allowed to pass without challenge.

  52. Briseadh na Faire says:

With one FBI investigation already looking into Republican voter fraud in Virginia, those may who know of other misdeeds may have sufficient motivation to keep the spotlight off the State. And, if there’s a recount of the electronic paperless voting machines and the numbers came out different…how would that be explained?

OFF TOPIC: gasoline in my town went up 4¢ by noon today, and another 5¢ in the afternoon, a total of 9¢ in one day. Anybody else notice a price spike at the pumps??

  53. El Tonno says:

“When Republicans lose, they retire gracefully.”

Woah. Film at 11! Do we have empirical, statistical evidence for such a statement? Naaaah.

    “Fetchez la vache!!”

  54. Marie says:

Electronic voting doesn’t leave room for recounts – only count provisional ballots and absentee ballots can actually be counted. The electronic machines will simply run another copy of their internal records – if they have been corrupted, the same corruption will be printed.
Just saw the film, Hacking Democracy, by Black Box Voting on HBO. Even the optical scan machine that I thought was safer is totally corruptible.

  55. Briseadh na Faire says:

Another off topic post, but I would like to suggest we than someone who really began the whole anti-war, peace movement: the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq who camped out on Bush’s doorstep in the hot August sun just to ask him “what noble cause?” Often people devote their live to a cause and are in the public eye constantly, yet seldom to they receive thanks for thier efforts. Of course, Dad, as the plaintiff is always named first, the Florida case was called “Bush v. Gore,” not “Gore v. Bush”.

    As you said… Interesting… indeed.

This may be the right thing to do. I thought MACACA went ou with the trash.

  58. Matthew J. Price says:

This man had his sights set on the U.S Presidency in the hopes that he would be the one who got to finish Bush’s work for him after 2008. Now when I look across the board, I don’t see any GOP U.S Senator who will meet the radical right’s litmus test come 2008. We did well this time around. We should all go out and celebrate, but we must also remember to resume our fight against the GOP in a couple of days. We still have to pressure the new Democratic majority into carrying out the promises they made to us.

  59. TonyC says:

    Re: #45

Damn, barfly! You beat me to the punch!!

And while it’s not as eloquent as, say, “Remember the Alamo!”, it still bears repeating, “Bush v. Gore!! ” “Bush v. Gore!!” “Bush v. Gore!!”

  60. Isis says:

I’d put money on the fact that there’s more to be discovered in closer scrutiny of Allen’s race than the GOP wants to be brought out so that’s precisely why he’s being encouraged to fold his tent. They wouldn’t be suggesting concession so quickly if there weren’t larger, perhaps criminal issues, which might stem from a more refined investigation which a recount would mandate….hmmmm……????

  61. El Tonno says:

CNN: “Bush: Dems not unpatriotic, just wrong on Iraq”

    ..the tunes, they are a-changing…

But what is the Democrat’s plan to fix stuff?

“The truth is the Democrats can’t answer that question,” Bush said. “Harsh criticism is not a plan for victory. Second guessing is not a strategy.

“We have a plan for victory. We have a plan to secure this country, and part of our plan is to send Jim Talent back to the United States Senate.”

That’s all right then… it’s good to see that the president personally looks at how the senate is being staffed.

Btw, where is Rove? Did he finally retire to a bunker and swallow a few pills?

  62. ForTruth says:

I remember it like it was yesterday, one cold winter day way back in….whatever it was, I found TP.

It was an uphill battle, those neocons were running amok like a room full of ADHD kids with no supervision. I hung in there, kept the faith, supported my brothers and sisters.

Now look at us, its a completely wonderful time.

  63. ForTruth says:

Rove is getting a colonic, in preperation for the next 100 days of getting his ass rammed with investigations.

  64. Kat says:

#58 – “I don’t see any GOP U.S Senator who will meet the radical right’s litmus test come 2008.”

I just had this discussion with a friend, today. It looks as though the 2008 race is going to beomce very interesting, as it seems last night “shook it up”, so to speak, for the Repubs.

    Any thoughts?

  65. NoMoreRepublicanTrash says:

Get out now, George, before the macacas come to get you.

  66. Isis says:

The truth lies in this infamous quote: “ No one can polish a turd! Bush and his cohorts have created such a disaster in Iraq that it would take ten Houdini’s to get us out of this mess with any ease. There is always a breaking point of wrongdoing and we may have crossed it. The Dems will do their best, no doubt but it would take a Herculean effort, in my humble opinion, to undo the far-reaching, global damage which these neocons have wrought on this country. Besides, why try to polish a turd when one knows it cannot be done? It’s not the Dems responsibility to clean up the mess the Repubs have created. Let them (after all they are still in the White House) figure it all out while the new Congress holds their feet to the fire.

  67. Kat says:

“HOTLINE: Republicans will soon pressure George Allen to concede”

    just read this on AmericaBlog

“Wow, it’s over. From Hotline, a very influential and connected inside-the-beltway publication:
    November 08, 2006
    Republicans Will Pressure Allen… Soon

Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race. Several outside advisers to Allen want him to make the decision quickly; others in his campaign want to make sure that there’s no chance a cache of new votes will turn up. One question: when will (will?) the AP call the race?”

  68. Isis says:

hey ForTruth….we’re both on the same wavelength….rove’s colonics and polishing fecal matter. I believe that Rove won’t be the only one scurrying out to get their colonics when the House gets through with them.

  69. barfly says:

    ForTruth;

And Libby will plead out before he comes to trial.

  70. Isis says:

Again, one has to wonder why mucky-muck Repubs are mandating that Allen concede?? Bigger issues to be unearthed via a recount and/or investigation….one certainly has to wonder??

  71. ForTruth says:

Yup Isis, it seems the Rover will bendover.

  72. Kat says:

#67… sorry meant to add to my own idiocy here… if it is getting around like this, on so many other sites, it is really just a waiting game. But if that is the case, why wait? It IS over, it has been over…. just DO IT!

Sorry, no sleep in last 24 hours has made me too loopy…

  73. ForTruth says:

It’s 4th and 15, 4th quarter, the team has been pretty beat up, there’s mud (shit) covering every player. Mr. Allen is the QB, what’s he gonna do, go for the end zone, or drop back and punt?

  74. ForTruth says:

The Scoot will plead out, like guilty? Heh.

  75. ForTruth says:

Hell yes, us conspiracy paranoid moonbats totally are telling Allen to drop out cuz they don’t want their computer game to be found out.

  76. Bluedog49 says:

Not only was Bush first to file suit in the Florida 2000 recount, he was ahead by 535 votes. Many news heads on the various networks urged Gore to quit when he was down by only 535. The networks called the election for Bush when he was up by only 535.

Webb is up by 7,000, but no network has called the election for him. Evidently, Bush gets his own set of rules.

  77. Bluedog49 says:

Repubs may also be wary of a recount because provisional ballots will be analyzed and counted. Since Repubs are the only ones who try to suppress the vote by challenging people who want to vote, the vast majority of provisionals will end up being Democratic. Allen is toast. The Democrats will control the Senate and we’ll finally get to that second part of the 9-11 intelligence commission report because Pat Roberts will no longer be in control. Sit down, Roberts. Bush cronies, you’re up and under oath!

  78. PBR says:

Please dont concede. This will give more time to investigate republican voter intimidation and harassing, lying robo phone calls. Allen loses either way.

  79. Fools in the GOP says:

When is 7,000 more votes a tie ? Webb won !!!!

  80. Kat says:

Currently on AmericaBlog, Bob Novak puts in the call for the END of the ballgame… doesn’t that say it all?

Bob Novak concedes that Dems won Senate
by John in DC – 11/08/2006 08:01:00 PM

From the Evans-Novak Political Report, apparently only available by email, so no link. A rather blistering assessment of the election results. You’re gonna like this:

    Republican Disaster

The apparent Democratic takeover of both houses of Congress left Republicans stunned and divided, unable to comprehend that the nation’s political realignment creating a GOP majority had crested and reversed. The confidence that relied entirely on a generously funded Election Day organization now looks like arrogance. The party’s cocksure political mechanics simply could not believe the outcome as the results poured in.

Democrats capitalized on a mood that was not so much pro-Democrat as anti-Republican. Republican leaders are still in denial in the wake of their crushing defeat. They blame individual losing candidates for failing to prepare themselves for the election, but the real fault lies with the GOP’s Washington establishment, which played its hand at Republican governance so disastrously that by Election Day Republicans could hardly get a cab ride anywhere in middle America.

In contrast, the private reaction by Republicans was anger at President Bush and his political team. That includes a rising GOP undercurrent against the current Iraq policy….

From a legislative perspective, loss of the Senate is less devastating than the loss of the House, because the Senate was not able to produce or pass most Republican legislation anyway. Filibuster rules in the Senate allow just 41 members to block almost anything, whereas in the House a majority is nearly always sufficient.

On the flip side, the loss of the Senate is devastating for any plans Bush had to install conservative judges. It could strongly interfere with any attempt to replace a Supreme Court justice, should one retire in the coming months….

This unusually high number of incumbent losses is very significant, because it is a true sign of a throw-the-bums-out election. Voters were not choosing against the incumbent party in open seats as often as they were choosing against the incumbents who were supporting President Bush and his policies….

With both houses of Congress ceded to the Democrats, President George W. Bush is now officially a lame duck. His tax and entitlement reform proposals and the extension of his tax cuts can be considered dead on arrival. The level of congressional scrutiny of his every move will be heightened suddenly. His ability to appoint judges and cabinet members and successfully confirm them is cast into doubt.

Yes. And I’m glad republicans are urging him to concede. Plus, he’ s lost by 7k votes. There’s no way that many votes were in errant. It’d be IMMENSELY lucky to even get 500. So, its over.

I won’t go into all the lawyers Bush called on after losing by some 500,000 votes in 2000, because other people have already pointed this out. But I will say that the person who accepted his loss–not to mention racist smears–most graciously this election was Harold Ford Jr., a Democrat.

  99. ForTruth says:

The prick still hasn’t conceded yet.

  100. DieNowForPeace says:
