Lawyers do much more than simply dispense legal information, good ones can potentially influence the next years of your life.

SEND LAWYERS GUNS AND MONEY to Va now! Webb has more than a 7,000 vote lead over Allen. Webb has declared victory. Yet Allen won’t concede. Control of the senate hangs in the balance.

The latest news reports claim Allen will demand a recount. And under VA law a demand for a recount must be made within ten days after the election is certified, which Va law requires to be done by November 27.

Here are two good articles which set out VA election procedures and scenarios in connection with Webb's apparent victory.

http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/virginia/dp-sou--virginiarecount1108nov08,0,7911811.story?coll=dp-headlines-virginia

http://www.slate.com/id/2153276

It looks as though the locality-by-locality canvass is critical. Once the canvass is complete (should be done by next Tuesday), the numbers usually don't change significantly in the subsequent recount.

After Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004, the Dems should immediately send all resources to Va, protest Allen’s failure to concede and begin the blitz of the talk shows and media decrying the Republican attempt to steal the election and with it control of the Senate.

Oh, he's here, in spirit:

Hey, don’t take my word for it, keep doing what you are doing, and keep losing elections, issues and supporters.
Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler

I predict the Dem will lose by at least 4 percent. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler

Have you prepared your rants for your losses on Nov. 7? Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 26, 2006 @ 3:28 pm

Well, it’s been fun, but it is time to go get lunch …Peace and Love
PS See you here the day after the election, so that I can praise Schumer and Emanuel for making gains for Clintonistas, while crushing Lamont and Webb - poor progs will never learn. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler —October 26, 2006 @ 10:32 am

It is now looking like Dems won’t even come close to taking the house, and it will be Schumer’s ugly face the blame. Progs will then have the opportunity to force Schumer / Emanuel out of power once and for all, and promote their own field of candidates for the 2008 presidential race. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler —October 30, 2006 @ 10:03 am

You are already destroyed, you just don’t know it yet …Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 30, 2006 @ 10:18 am

I will be here on the morning after the election, and you can tell me all about how America is waking up then, ok? Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 30, 2006 @ 10:25 am

I will be here the morning after the election, in which the Dems fail to even take the House, and we can then talk about how progs can push out Schumer and Emanuel in lieu of candidates who better match progressive policies. Too much of a stretch for you to plan ahead?
Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 30, 2006 @ 10:36 am

Those who orchestrate your movement have led you off a cliff, enjoy the fall.

I don’t waste time with poll It must be frustrating for you to be so adamant about something, yet the voters in the general election vote for the other guys. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 30, 2006

I will see you here on the morning after the election. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler — October 30, 2006 @ 4:01 pm

As I stated yesterday, John Kerry’s apology puts the blame of offense from his statements on the soldiers and their families, and not on himself. Yet another opportunity lost to clear up the issue, and it WILL hurt Dems in this year’s midterm elections.
Other than John Kerry, only Howard Dean has ever killed his presidential aspirations with a single utterance (yee-haw). He now has NO chance at being his party’s nominee in 2008 or ever. Comment by Jason+M.+Hendler

I read your words, yet don’t get that overconfident vibe that was present even as recently as the Busby race. Could Pavlovian negative reinforcement finally gotten through? Do you now see that not only are you fighting a losing cause, but are causing it to lose? I will be here on the morning of Nov. 8 to comfort you after you yet again slam into that brick wall. Comment by Jason M. Hendler

You are right on the guest worker. The pundits seem to think the House will pass it. I am still euphoric from the win, so I do not know where I stand on this issue.

Your debate style does not matter, your are welcomed. I may have to change my name to "Not so Pissed Off Now" though :-)

It was the Shrub’s idea, and it basically passed the Senate, the only snag-up for it was the House, now that it’s Blue, I assume they’ll pass it also.

Probably a re-tooled version, with even greater penalties for hiring illegals. This is a chance to show America a fundamental difference in the way Dems govern, by getting to the heart of the problem. Border enforcement is a band-aid, until you can reduce the numbers heading north.

Not since before the Civil War has the U.S. been so dependent on financing from abroad.

Now that is some scary stuff. Of course MA, like a parent on the sideline of a soccer field, clasps it's hands under it's chin looking proudly at her mad little chimperor running amok.

#73 Pissed Off
I remind you that the “guest worker” program was Shrub’s idea however I believe meaningful immigration reform will be a topic of discussion.
It was the Shrub's idea, and it basically passed the Senate, the only snag-up for it was the House, now that it's Blue, I assume they'll pass it also. Back when it seemed we would only loose the house I had so wished it was looking like loss of senate instead, for that reason and a few others.

I hope you show up here again and debate for debate is healthy and our Constitution was the result of 11 years of it.
Eh, careful what you wish for, my debating tends to be slightly factual attempts at humor, except for a few issues that are the core ones to me. (welfare reform, abortion, nuclear (the s is silent) proliferation)

MA

Reading through your posts on this thread, something I normally don't do, let me just say that you have my respect on how well you have handled the news. You posted your congratulations with class.

Personally I find neither party any good, but hopefully the Democrats will do a good job over the next two years, or hopefully the mass of Americans will vote for someone other then either party in 2008.

I guess the fact that the majority of millionaires in the country are self made eluded you - again. MA.

So are the majority of white-collar criminals - and if you live in one of the San Diego bedroom communities like La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, or Poway, you'll see an abundance of both. They don't call it "Scam Diego" for nothing.

Dear Sponge Cake - I guess the fact that the majority of millionaires in the country are self made eluded you - again. I can understand your mistake - apprently you were thinking of the wealthy Dems who generally wait for a wealthy relative to die - or marry money….

Gotta run…..

MA must read every Coulter book, what a dittohead.
All dems are on welfare and Godless according to your other posts, where would a dem, in your boob tube reality, get a wealthy relative?

Really MA, will you ever drop your goofy colorful projectionisms?

Milton Friedman said 'All spending is taxation.'
It all has to come from somewhere.
Bush has been taxing America at an insane level for years now.
The only question is who, specifically, is going to pay for it.
We've got a few ideas--and it's NOT the struggling middle class.
