Veterans Day Messages from Troops In Iraq, Filmed By Defense Dept., Feature Replica of Twin Towers

After months of studied ambiguity, President Bush finally admitted that Iraq had “nothing” to do with the attack on the World Trade Center. The Defense Department, however, appears determined to perpetuate the myth.

Today, the administration released veterans day messages from troops in Iraq. These “taped messages from the U.S. Defense Department” featured a replica of the twin towers in the background. Here’s a screen shot:

Message from troop in Iraq

Watch two of the messages, as aired on CNN, here.

Who cares? The goal is to make people angry and sensitive so they support whatever action this war government wishes to undertake.

    will these guys ever learn?

I only see one video...and it's got nothing to do with that...someone enlighten me here?

  5. GoesAroundComesAround Says:

Actually those 'things' are part of an exhibition assembled by wounded Iraqi children to represent their view of Americcca and why they had to loose their limbs.

  6. RUCerious Says:

    The scumbags have no shame.

  7. goodscarrier Says:

Yes, President Bush did finally admit that Iraq had “nothing” to do with the attack on the World Trade Center.

Time will tell, though, if President Bush will ever admit that he inadvertently fathered a Shiite fundamentalist democracy in Iraq in direct response to the horrific attacks of 9/11.

9/11 = Nearly three thousand murders + Uncounted thousands of (phsyical, psych, etc.) mutilations + tens of billions of dollars in damage

Iraq, Bush's Shiite fundamentalist republic = Tens of thousands of murders and mutilations + four hundred billion dollars in cost

    WTF?

Bush deserves to be renditioned to Iraq where he can live the rest of his life hearing Iraqis chant `Death to Israel', `Death to America'.

  8. Dog_named_Boo Says:

From the jerks who bring you this…

Thank You, Liberals…for letting terrorists kill us.

    Comment by Doogus

It's amazing, since 1994 the GOP has controlled Congress and the House yet they still cannot accept any blame for letting them GOP kill us and them.

  9. ann Says:

    That's pathetically sick.

  10. Marie Says:

They have no shame, they continue to exploit the troops.
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and anyone else who approved this disgraceful act deserve to have a special place hell.

  11. Dog_named_Boo Says:

Besides it doesn't matter what Americans think, Cheney says, because Polls do not decide security directives.

Ergo Mr Cheney ORDERS that it doesn't matter what the troops think, or what the Libertarians think, or what the Republicans or Conservatives, or Democrats think. This Video doesn't mean a damn thing to anybody other than those that want to argue about what the media idiot box is currently emanating....

yes, it most definitely is a parody site... i promise... others will also...
herman b. hayes has even posted here several times...
you know they're (cfav) hitting a nerve when even the trolls post some of the stories with righteous indignation... that can be rather funny...

This is by no means a reference to Senator Kerry's comment, but why would any service man or women allow themselves to have their picture taken in front of a picture of the WTC when that building had nothing to do with them being in Iraq?

  17. rafe b Says:

why would any service man or women allow themselves to have their picture taken in front of a picture of the WTC

It's not clear that the troop(s) saw the backdrop or knew what the backdrop was or would be. Troops often don't know or care about politics. There's an article in today's New York Times highlighting this. An Iraqi tells some GIs (who are occupying his house) that Rumsfeld has resigned. One of the GIs asks, "who's Rumsfeld?"

  18. james risser Says:

    #17

i imagine, if indeed it was thought through and not coincidence, it may have something to do with an urge to demonize the enemy so it is more palatable to kill them? or, it may be some sort of motivation, even if false, to justify their time there? if there were not wmds, saddam is caught, and people are just dying for no reason, i suppose any justification for being there might be good to have...

  19. Uncle_Ho Says:

More bullshit propaganda from the 'people' who brought us the phoney tales of Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch to get the public to support their bullshit war.

  20. Mr. Evil Says:

And you think it's going to get better in January? Nancy Pelosi has stated that no impeachment proceedings will be persued against George Bush. They won't investigate the lies and deceptions that they used to put us in Iraq. She voted for the war, the Patriot Act, The Miltitary Commissions Act, etc. She sucks! She's already enjoyed her photo ops with lame duck George. I say John Murtha should be speaker of the house.

If the republicans will spare no expense to investigate Bill Clinton for whatever they could possibly get to stick and then initiate impeachment proceedings for lying about a blowjob then the democrats could have a field day investigating Bush. They could charge him with any number of things he's violated starting with his oath of office. But no, they still want the republicans to believe that if they won't prosecute them then the republicans won't do the same in the future. Bullshit!!! The democrats seem to just want their time at the 'cookie jar' instead of persuing the truth and setting a standard that future presidents must adhere to. I'm sorry but, my skepticism is fueling my cynicism.

Everyone that posts here regularly knows how I feel and how I lean politically. I'm just very wary about the things I've read recently about what is going to happen after the retaking of the house and the senate. I am happy about the impending war profiteering and fraud investigations mainly regarding Halliburton and it's subsidiaries. I'm also hoping that those investigations will open new doors into dark closets full of skeletons that the republicans and mainly the sick, demented, delusional neocons will stop at nothing to hide. What deals are being made at this very moment to protect these secrets. I guess what I'm asking all of you is should we let them off or should we demand that our new democratic majority blow the entire roof off of the whole twisted mess created by the Bush Administration?

  21. Eargy Earp Says:

    Not really all that Surprising.

The itmes are used to justify to the enlisted any war or reason to attack anyone they choose.

Personally, I have talked with several active servicemen who are still convinced that Saddam was involved in 9-11.

I think it's part of the usual brainwashing.

  22. Yikes Says:

The Dems MUST go for empeachment. What Bush has done is by FAR worse than what Clinton did. The Dems MUST go for the jugular as Repugs did 10 years ago. The Dems MUST do this now and fast. If the don't, then they WILL be viewed as weak. Hit Bush and hit him HARD.

  23. Mr. Evil Says:

    #'s 22 & 23 Eargy Earp and Yikes: I couldn't agree more!

  24. james risser Says:

    mr e,

i agree with your comments on pelosli. it looks as if she has lost touch with the passions and the sentiments of those that have given her the opportunity to lead. but, come to think of it, no one on the good side of the aisle has said much worthwhile since the election about going after the war-criminals in the whitehouse. politics is all about the special interest groups and the power that they give and not about the voters. she may turn out to be just another reprehensible pig in the shit-filled sty.

  25. stonehinge Says:

So many here seem to mis-understand the real-politik of the impeachment process. Although the Democrats do have control of the Senate now, the majority is far too small to go for impeachment right out of the blocks. Let's get the investigations underway that Dennis Kucinich is now proposing and then see where we are in six months. If the information from the investigations is sufficient to mobilize public opinion, then you can be sure that impeachment will move forward.

However, keep in mind that the position of the US in the world has been fundamentally changed by the criminality of the Bush-Cheney cabal. In truth, impeachment is not enough for what they have done. While our investigations are underway, let's see how the German proceedings go with Rumstool et al. We must carefully plan our steps if we are to insure that this kind of fascist coup cannot happen again. Let us not be so arrogant to assume that we can clean house without help from the rest of the world.

And keep in mind one more thing. There must be a fundamental reformation of the way we do business in the US. And by that, I mean that the underlying machinery that regulates business and finance must be changed. We would not be in this situation were it not for the corporate interests who financed the Bush coup. Bush and Cheney, disgusting and vile as they are, are nothing but mouthpieces for the forces that own them. For everyone's sake, it would much better to see progress at reining-in the higher powers of business and finance, than to waste time with impeachment proceedings which are nothing more than political wrist slapping.

For starters, take a look at the article by Jeff Madrick on how the US economy compares with the Nordic countries. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see that there is a workable model that could rein-in the corporate and governmental abuses while insuring a decent standard of living and growth opportunities for all.

Now to Shuffle Off the Neo-liberal Coil

    Cheers!!!

  26. stonehinge Says:

Yeah, James, i fear that Pelosi will be just another zionist pig at the trough. She certainly makes no bones about sucking up to Israel and it is clear she supports drastic action in Iran. But hey, at least she helped us come out from underneath the elephant's big ass for a brief but life-restoring breath of fresh air.

  27. Mr. Evil Says:

Just say no to Pelosi. Just say yes to Murtha!

  28. pot laced banana Says:

#27 you say zionist like it is something bad... spend multiple centuries with you balls in the vice and see if you don't yearn for a national homeland.

    This quote never get's old

"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality--judiciously, as you will--we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

NO, Nancy Pelosi did not vote for the MCA -- get your facts straight buddy!

  32. theswan Says:

Why do we have to brainwash our own troops? They do have a mind of their own. The defense department is as guilty of infering that the troops are stupid. They took Mr. Kerry to the woodshed for precisely the same sort of thing. However Mr. Kerry's statement was a mess up. This is just out and out deceiptful.
The goverment should just refrain from the blantant lies that seem to dictate there mission.
Nothing has changed since the election and I would suggest that this sort of propaganda will continue.

  33. Uncle_Ho Says:

#22 Energy Earp; It IS brainwashing. When I was in the service, I was told to obey without question. As an E-2, an E-5 told me;"yours is not to question why, but to do and die."

I would quip back the ruling of the Nuremberg tribunal about ""following orders is no defense."

Needless to say, this did not sit well at all the the lifers.

  34. Sharon Cox Says:

Great post's all, I agree with most of you, we must be ever watchful of what the Dem's are going to do or not.....I think they must investigate and prosacute this administration just as quickly as possible.....I do believe they must first make bush and his remaining regime reign in and stop these war's and change back many of retched bill's they passed this year.....

There is much to be done and they can do a lot all at once if they just will.....If they refuse to investigate and hold this bunch accountable we must be ready to raise enough trouble to make them....First things first, take all that dictator power away from bush....Without that we will still end up in camp's and accomplish nothing......We must bring up charges against these people for war crimes other wise every killer in our country has a get out free pass.....Blessings

  41. stonehinge Says:

    Pot_laced_banana,

Zionism has nothing to do with gaining a homeland for the Jews. The Zionists could have taken Madagascar if they wanted to build a peaceful homeland where they could live as they please. Instead, they deliberately chose an area where they could play war games for all time. Zionism is about political and economic control. Zionism is about stealing the birthrights of others. Ever since the Babylonian Captivity, Zionism has been about propagating fraudulent claims of superiority and ownership. Just ask yourself why everything that is good for Israel always hurts so many other nations.

  44. TR Says:

The Ministry of Propaganda is alive and well.

This crap has to be pointed out every time they try to slip it through.
Sometimes the obvious has to be pointed out to the oblivious and easliy manipulated.

It's not like Bush&Co. developed morals all of a sudden because of the election right?

That would be as absurd as Tony Snow admitting that Fox News is biased, then proceeding to do his job in a forthright, non-snarky manner. Not bloody likely, eh?

  45. wmd Says:

I have an idea why not use the North Vietnames flag as a background ?
    Iraq = vietnam

  46. bert Says:

Each country needs a monument, at least each civilized country. The USA had none, except maybe the house of Elvis. Here you have your myth, and we'll hear about that until you find another one...

  47. Imran Ahmed Says:

I don't understand why we take umbrage at the way the truth is manipulated.

We claim to be a great country, our people are great, the food is great, the land is great, our rivers are great, our beaches are great, NY is the greatest city on earth, the NFL and MLB produce "world champions", Ms. Rice is the most powerful woman on earth, etc etc.

So unless your IQ is below 10 you should realize that the current administration is BSing its way through life and is in the back pocket of special interests. After all one visit from Olmert and suddenly poor Iran and Syria were being blamed for all the problems in Iraq again!

    Some things never change!

  48. Jumpwings Says:

Yes, America asked for this: we just didn't show the Iraqis and Iranians enough love. Instead we act like the ugly, yankee, infidel pig dogs that we are.

Over 3,000 people died on 11 September. So what...because we REFUSED to bow down immediately and accept allah and his seven passing winds, and, instead, tried to retaliate, we now are caught in a quagmire, right?

Winning things is an outdated concept anyway, we need to be more of a mind of "sharing" a victory with our opposition, because who are WE to want to hoard all that victory to ourselves? Progressives should be more open about cheering when a victory-sharing moment occurs like a suicide bombing or an IED explosion. So an American soldier dies...they're only puppets of Bushitler who deserve what's coming to them for being imperialist yankee infidel invaders, right?

In fact, WHY should America have armed forces anyway? Nobody loves a bully, right?

Progressives should rally around the idea of forming a federal Department of Peace just so that the world will like America better, right?

    Who could disagree with that?
