Joe is a Democrat to the end. He has destroyed Connecticut like you Democrats love to do (2nd highest taxes in the nation). The fact that you people trash him so bad shows how you have to tow the party line in all respects or get kicked to the curb. You people are so far left you would not know cooperation, bipartisanship or even reality if it sh!t on your face.

He agreed with Bush once â€œGee, Iâ€™m Jewish and these people want all Jews dead. So I guess the war is not too badâ€. And you people make him out to be Bushâ€™s butt-boy.

I think what he meant was that further Dem gains in the Senate in 2008 seem very possible, given the large discrepancy in challenged seats and where they are located. Once the Dems get off the 51-49 schneid, with each additional seat Joe becomes more and more marginalized.

I gotta love your framing of the reaction to Joe Lieberman’s viciousness (it wasn’t Lamont who called his opponent a jerk and said he was for the terrorists) as some kind of progressive refusal to work with anyone else. Was there a big movement to oust ANY other conservative Democrat in Congress this year? NO. And you know why? Because other conservatives vote their conscience but support their party. Joe votes his interest, and shivs his party whenever he feels it helps him.

Progressives refuse traitors, as they should. Just because there’s a D by his name, doesn’t mean he wasn’t the EXACT SAME kind of shameless Bush-enabler and sycophant as those many Rs.

BTW, in ref #9, you will NOT be able to do anything about it in 2008, unless he passes away, the term for a senator is 6 years.

I do note a lot of vicious posts that I would LOVE to see posted in the daily papers of each American City. So they can see the filth and viciousness that the progressives harbor, and why they should not be allowed to keep ANY power. They whine that repugs won’t work with them, but I can see it now, in NO way will they ever work with anyone else. It’s their way, or the high way, unless their not in power, then it needs to be “shared”.

What a bunch of loser, crass, sophmoric, Copralite for brains, misfits. You do yourself more damage than any neocon could ever do.

I fear that Mr. Lieberman could prove to be the undoing of any genuinely progressive Democratic agenda. He is in the catbird seat with an opportunity (given the evenly divided Senate) to play power broker. He probably still has presidential ambitions; and he has proved that he is only too happy to seek support from any quarter in furtherance of his overblown ambitions.

We got the Repugs out.
Now it’s time to reform the Democratic Party,
–or in ‘08 the Greens will split the vote, big time.

Uncle Joe represents the worst of American politics, but he is right on one point. The “mandate” of this election was a rejection of Republican incompetence and corruption, more than an embrace of the broader Democrat or progressive agenda.

The mood of America, particularly in places like Connecticut, is more “centrist” rather than “conservative” or “progressive” and Joe found the electorate’s G-spot.

His re-election brings to mind H.L. Mencken’s comment about democracy being “the theory that the people ought to get the government they want — and get it good and hard.”
