Sorry Steele some one beat you to the job

  2. ForTruth says:

Is Martinez going to be able to give all of himself to both jobs?

  3. gina says:

refresh me….didn’t someone on his staff send out an email or some such?

  4. Step Beyond says:

Ah yes the source of the infamous Shiavo memo. As a Floridian, I shall now go sit in the corner in penance.

Mark Foley or Ted Haggard would have been better choices.

Or Jimmy Swaggart. Or Billy Graham. Or Pat Robertson. Or James Dobson. Or Jimmy Bakker.

  7. College Progressive says:

I admit this is close, but if the RNC is looking to appoint the best representation of the people they’ve most alienated, shouldn’t they have chosen someone gay? Well, I guess Melhman didn’t work out…

  8. Wayne says:

Martinez will not give up his Senate seat.

Oh, why not? Maybe a Democrat would win the runoff?

  9. kelso says:

Did Sen. Mel Martinez get the gay litmus test before giving he got the job?

Don’t want any suprises to come up in ‘08.

  10. bs says:

so does this also mean that after giving his top percenters the boot that he i no longer a man of conviction(bushyboy)

  11. PlacitasRoy says:

Hell – I didn’t even know he was gay!

What an obvious pitch to the Hispaanic electorate.

  12. disdaniel says:

One of the few people I like less than Mehlman is Mel Martinez. So as far as I’m concerned, he will be an excellent choice (for dems).

  13. Roger_Roger says:

On a side note, weren’t you guys elected because people wanted ethics and no more corruption? Now Pelosi is backing Murtha for a leadership role. Has she lost her marbles? Even Soros is screaming fowl on this one as Murtha is ranked by Soros group as MORE corrupt then even Delay. You guys and gals should really write your congressmen and demand that Murtha not get their vote. It simply amazes me that Pelosi would even think to back someone this corrupt. The people don’t trust the Repugs, but how would they trust the Dems if you put someone this corrupt in a power position?

  14. Roger_Roger says:

    BTW,

Here is the writeup on the corrupt Murtha by Soros group:

  15. Stephen Ghelerter says:

Mel became senator by lying through his teeth about his opponent, Democrat Betty Castor.

Mel and Governor Jeb falsely claimed that Betty should have fired a suspected terrorist who was a profession at the University of South Florida while she was president of the university. The truth is that she never had sufficient evidence to fire a tenured professor.

The suspected terrorist was later arrested and fired from the university.

    More information

  16. Marie says:

    From Crooks and Liars:
Mel was the guy that passed out talking points on the floor on how to use the Terri Schiavo affair for political gain.
The legal counsel to Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) admitted yesterday that he was the author of a memo citing the political advantage to Republicans of intervening in the case of Terri Schiavo, the senator said in an interview last night. Martinez … said he had not read the one-page memo…. Officials gave the memo to reporters for ABC News and The Washington Post.
Remember how the wingnuts were so intense on calling these talking points forgeries?
This is reward for Martinez as well as ridding the RNC of the gay Mehlman.

  17. David says:

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Conservative Republicans have once again sold out. Bush is screwing his base. Seems like there is some truth to the White Houses contempt for non-neocons, i.e. Evangelicals, True Believers, etc.

  18. Destardi says:

well, Roger_roger has a point..I did not know this about Murtha.

On a different note, not that it matters…but I only see where Murtha received a “dishonorable mention.”

How is that “more corrupt” than delay?

    delay…is the bug master.

Murtha better clean his crap up…we shouldn’t stand for more of the same BS from democrats.

    jus sayin

  19. Roger_Roger says:

    #19

I am not the one saying Murtha is more corrupt then Delay. Soros is the one saying it. He is also demanding that you Dems not allow Murtha in a power position as the Dems will look to be just as crooked as the Repugs.

    “Jus sayin”
