Following a speech in Abu Dhabi,
former President Bush was “forced to defend his son from verbal attacks” from a “hostile audience.” “We do not respect your son,” a woman in the audience told Bush. “We do not respect what he’s doing all over the world.” “Bush appeared stunned as the audience of young business leaders whooped and whistled in approval” at the woman’s comments, coming after the “retired president had just finished a folksy address on leadership by telling the audience how deeply hurt he feels when his son the president is criticized.”

He SHOULD say, “That’s politics. My son, as President, has implied that a win for Democrats is a win for terrorists, so if people call him imcompetent, I think he needs to know how to deal with it.”

Many, many of them do not have health insurance and they can barely live on their own. They’re the ones who’d get drafted if it came to that. Retirement funds don’t exist for them but they can’t afford to fund Roths and IRAs. And the deficit is so high it will never disappear. Much of this was financed by the middle class to make the rich richer.
You think it’s ugly now, Mr. Bush. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Keep talking about Iran like you want to invade. Keep the tax cuts for the wealthy. Keep sending troops to Iraq. You want to see ugly? Continue as usual.

Did he really expect this group to be pre-selected? Or maybe he thought that, being business people, they would view his son’s policies in a good light.
I guess we know now where Bush the younger got the idea of living in a bubble and shutting off any uncomfortable fact: It just runs in the family.
Also, that 60% of those asked think he did a better job than his son is hardly a compliment. I can only think of a few things Pres Bush 43 could do worse.
